Spacetime Diaries is a universe, where each season is a unique exploration of a particular moment on the timeline. 2020’s The Disappearing takes us to the planet Ankhara, and 2021’s Meditations are 12 minute adventures in exobiology. 2023’s Waking Up is set in Brooklyn, NY, in 2035 when a new, perceptual upscaling neuro-prosthetic brain chip is sold to the consumer market.

Waking Up is a five part story set in Brooklyn NY in 2035. This is the final episode, titled "Threshold." In the previous episode, you experienced blackouts and disorientation, likely from a malfunction in your Neuromax brain chip. As you make your way back home, you black out again and suddenly find yourself face-to-face with your ex, Lucy. Performed by Jenise Morgan, Michael Ryan, Tali Hamilton, KC Comeaux, Ghan Patel, and the Micrologus Studio choir conducted by Juan Klas. Story: Waking Up is about a synthetic consciousness born trapped inside a human. It is an exploration of the science and spirituality of consciousness, as well as the fallibility of our subjective perception. Music: In some Vedic and Buddhist writing, consciousness is described as a vibration. The music seeks to explore the effects of two waves vibrating together. Spacetime Diaries Team: Waking Up is written, composed, and produced by Ghan Patel. Story consultants: Jenise Morgan, Maria Teutsch, and Lauren Heagerty. Engineering by Daniel Lynas. Album art by Joanna Gonzalez. "Threshold" was released September 12, 2024. Dedicated to my parents. © 2024, Ghan & Company. https://ghan.co/spacetimediaries

Waking Up is a five part story set in Brooklyn NY in 2035. This is the second episode, titled "Tell Me Lies." Story: Waking Up is about a synthetic consciousness born trapped inside a human. It is an exploration of the science and spirituality of consciousness, as well as the fallibility of our subjective perception. Music: In some Vedic and Buddhist writing, consciousness is described as a vibration. The music seeks to explore the effects of two waves vibrating together. Production: Opportunities to express the "intelligent machine" concept were explored and used extensively in the production of Waking Up. For example, a custom MaxMSP patch was built to generate specific waveform melodies. Also, an AI model trained on Jenise Morgan's voice was used to create the computer commands heard in the middle of this episode. In fact, AI tools were used extensively, but notably -- every attempt with AI writing or composition failed miserably. The team is relieved that an artist's job isn't replaced quite yet. Episode 2 performed by KC Comeaux, Jenise Morgan, and Ghan Patel. Engineering by Daniel Lynas. Album art by Joanna Gonzalez. Released June 13, 2023.
