This is the third episode in a series of Client Chats that we are sharing on the podcast. (You can check out our first client chat with Nicole D. here and our second with Kristin L. here ) This episode is with Bryanna and her SSM client, Alina. In the SSM container, Alina did a complete 180 and completely changed her entire life. She shares on her experience in SSM and how she: - Called in & now holds her dream relationship & life despite being in the opposite circumstances to begin with (working at a job she hated, experiencing a toxic relationship, living in a place she didn’t wanna live in…) - Learnt to show up on hardest days and get honest with herself which led to a lot of cleaning up and healing. - Was able to change her ways of life and pass it to her daughter. She shares on why SSM allowed her to alchemize one of the roughest times in her life into Becoming her Dream. Alina is now living in Chile on a goat farm with the Love of her life, raising their dream family together. She also speaks on how she comes back to this program over and over and over again to maintain her Dreams. --- STAY CONNECTED Website Instagram Join The From My heArt to Yours email list . This week’s episode is with my dear friend and law school classmate, William Igbokwe. William is both an attorney and a performer in Portland, Oregon. He views his career in law as just a piece of the larger part of his life’s work as an advocate. In this interview, we discuss a wide range of issues (hence the lengthy title!) primarily related to the law and social justice and how these macro issues affect each of us on the micro-level. This is my second interview with William and is really a furthering of the conversation we had in Episode 21. Definitely check out that episode first if you haven’t already! IN THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT Why we can’t talk about wellness without talking about social justice and how both are intertwined within each other. This is a time for people in the wellness industry to become more active in how they can more holistically support the collective. How COVID-19 sparked an intense community wellness responsibility, but the killings of unarmed Black men and women didn’t invoke the same amount of pressure to protect each other’s safety. Manueving wellness as a Black man with all that’s happening in society and how William has had to look at wellness in a different way. How we can be both perpetrators of injustice and victims of trauma, and why it’s important to recognize that about ourselves (and others) and reconcile it. Suzy Batiz is the CEO and Founder of Poo~Pourri and Supernatural Clean. She is also a master of transformation; whether she's transforming literal shit into a pleasant-smelling experience with Poo~Pourri or people’s lives with her growing personal brand. Suzy is a revolutionary explorer of infinite potential in the playground of life who loves to inspire others and bring them along for the ride. Suzy harnessed the power of true transformation and turned ALIVE IDEAS into a $500+ million empire. My thoughts on what constitutes healthy vulnerability in sharing our stories. Some things to consider when deciding if, when, and how to share your story with other people or on public platforms. How I make those decisions for my Self. I get these questions from y'all a lot. And this is such an important conversation to be having in today's age of oversharing and contrived vulnerability (aka sharing vulnerably just for marketing or sales). The answers to all of these questions are so subjective and personal that nobody can answer them except for you! So I share my own process in hopes that it gives you something to consider throughout your own process. In this episode, I am sharing my story/relationship with religion & spirituality. To date, I have avoided sharing much about my own spiritual beliefs/experiences publicly... and yet it is one of the most important pieces of my life. And it is something that we ALL have some kind of relationship with, even if the relationship is that we do not identify as being religious or spiritual. I have some upcoming interviews that will dive more into these topics, but I decided to open the conversation through a share of my experience because I know there is someone else who is going to relate. This is a candid share about my personal experience with mental health -- growing up with mental illness in my family, my own struggles, then going on to work in the mental health field, in mental institutions, nonprofits, prisons, courtrooms, etc. To sum it up, our mental health medical model is actually a mental illness model that medicalizes and profits off of human despair. We deserve a lot more. We have to become activists for our Self and demand more. Which, first, requires having more of these candid conversations. We are doing a giveaway right now! Yesterday was my 30th birthday... 30 on March 30th!! Meaning this is my golden year ;) And boy does that feel true! I have never felt so happy, in purpose, in alignment, at ease in my life as I have over the past few months. Not because of anything that has come into play in my external world--the past few months have actually been pretty overwhelming and have thrown me for quite a few loops, business and personal. Instead, my inner world has shifted so much that, at this point in my life, everything just feels easier. At ease. Perspective, amiright? Having struggled with depression and anxiety for as long as I can remember (my first official diagnosis was around 13 years old), it brings me so much JOY to realize where I am today and to reflect upon what I have learned/what has made the biggest SHIFT in my life. So I decided to stream of consciousness a list of 30 things I have learned in these 30 years, in hopes of sharing even just one lesson that might help you shift something in your life! Meghan Wallace James is an (intuitive) Feng Shui consultant, a momma to two beautiful boys, and a dear friend who has taught me so much about slowing down and appreciating the beauty that exists in every moment, in every place. She has also helped me clear out and activate my home, infusing principles of feng shui and intuition in order to create the foundation for the life I am calling in right now… aka, using Feng Shui as a manifestation tool. I am a total homebody who has been obsessed with design for almost a decade, but this new understanding of building home through energetics and desires has Changed. The. Game. Having grown up in an active renovation site—witness to chaos in home and in life—Meghan quickly developed a keen understanding of spaces in movement, how energy shifts with active changes in the home, and how that energy co-creates our lives from. As such, she has been in this practice of using home as a co-creator long before she understood it as Feng Shui. Throw in a degree in engineering, a degree in fashion design, multiple certificates in Feng Shui, and her experience in creating/re-creating so many different homes… Meghan’s expertise is well rounded and is just as grounded in pragmatism as it is wildly intuitive. Melissa Monte is the host of the popular podcast, Mind Love. Not long ago, Melissa was spiraling. She was bulimic, self-destructive and had no sense of self-love. The darker her inner world became, the more her life seemed to follow. Melissa had the outer life experiences that could understandably justify the darkness of her inner world—she was sexually assaulted, twice; she struggled with a destructive eating disorder for 10 years; her best friend committed suicide; she lost a parent from lymphoma; she was emotionally trapped in a manipulative relationship that ultimately landed her in jail for someone else’s crime—however, it was ultimately through changing her mind about her perception of her experiences and her Self that she turned her life around. Now, through her podcast, Mind Love, she teaches other people the many tools that she used to light up her inner world. In this interview she shares raw stories about her past, what she did to move through it, how she is still processing parts of it, and how she has turned it into her purpose and life’s work. IN THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT: How your life reflects your mindset Opening your mind + expanding your possibilities through inner work Melissa’s background and what led her to do the deep inner work Some of the tools Melissa used to change her mind Why it is important to be patient with yourself while unpacking trauma How she navigates the “unpacking” now Plus much more… RESOURCES FROM THIS EPISODE Mind Love Podcast Catch Melissa on Instagram Catch Mind Love Podcast on Instagram LET’S CONNECT Website: Bryannadee.com Instagram: @bryanna_dee Facebook: Facebook.com/bryannadee Pinterest: Pinterest.com/bryannadee/ --- STAY CONNECTED Website Instagram Join The From My heArt to Yours email list . Hiro Landazuri is a yoga teacher and photographer with a past life in medicine. His yoga classes focus on intelligent movement, which is no surprise as he integrates his deep understanding of anatomy with his deep understanding of the asanas (the physical postures of yoga). While his intelligent flows are effective, what is more impressive is how Hiro integrates his philosophical perspectives and spiritual practice (the essence of yoga) into his classes in a profound but discreet manner, making physical and personal growth accessible to anyone who shows up in his class. He shows up to each class without an agenda or planned flow. Instead, he shows up fully present and ready to teach whatever the present needs of the students in his class are. This is also how Hiro shows up to life. Present. Vulnerable. Intelligent. Open mind. Open heart. Natalie Kuhn is the Vice President of The Class by Taryn Toomey—an interdisciplinary physical practice that exercises mind, body, and spirit. The Class is constructed to push you to your own limitations while asking you to tune in and question it all; creating space for the deeper questions to arise and providing perspective to let the questions be the answers. Unsurprisingly, The Class has quickly become a phenomenon as people have felt (if just momentary) reprieves from our culture of compressing, repressing, and turning away from uncomfortable emotional experiences, and Natalie plays no small role in this. Natalie is also a poet, in the way that she views the world and in the way that she describes it. I first heard her speak a few days after deciding that I was going to start this podcast and I instantly knew that I wanted to share a little piece of her perspective with y’all. IN THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT: The Class by Taryn Toomey—what it is, how it became what it is, what Natalie’s role is, and how she found herself in it How Natalie’s background in acting, dancing, and performing combined with her background in and exposure to psychological and spiritual studies perfectly guided her to her current position in the Class and in life How the body stores emotions Trusting the small voice that is your intuition What “following your dream” looks like and consists of What is failure? Keep the stasis. Sooner or later that confusion is going to clarify, but only if you let that confusion stay confused. If you’re spinning, why would you take a step and start running in a certain direction? You want to cool the nausea, right the horizon, and then take a step forward before you gallup apace.” “If I had quit back then because I was unhappy wiping down a stranger’s yoga mat, there’s absolutely no way I would have seen the dream come to fruition. At the core was the non-negotiable.” “If we look back on that time where this picturesque image of success was created, did you have all of the information back then? This week’s episode is with my friend and law school classmate, William Igbokwe. William is presently a Domestic Violence Attorney at Legal Aid Services in Portland, Oregon, but he views his career in law as just a piece of the larger part of his life’s work as an advocate. In this interview, we discuss a wide range of issues (hence the lengthy title!) primarily related to the law and social justice and how these macro issues affect each of us on the micro level. This interview is the first of many I will conduct with the intention of integrating social justice issues with those of the personal development and self-help sphere through open conversations about individuals’ experiences and belief systems—i.e., infusing social, cultural, and political issues into the health and wellness industry. Always remembering that the true illusion in this life is that we were ever separate. IN THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT: What sparked William’s interest in the law What sparked William’s interest in social justice and advocacy work William’s experience growing up in a small town in Texas as the son of Nigerian immigrants and as the self-proclaimed “token” African American in his classes What social justice means to William How his experiences in college at the University of Texas at Austin expanded his view of social justice beyond racial issues The difference between equality and equity His present work in domestic violence and his perception of his experience thus far Plus so much more… --- STAY CONNECTED Website Instagram Join The From My heArt to Yours email list . In this short solo-sode, I discuss some thoughts that have been percolating in my mind over the past couple of years and are coming to a boiling point since I have been working in the "wellness industry" full time for a few months now. I talk about a more pronounced integration of social justice into the wellness industry/into our notion of self-care... and what that means for the future of this podcast! Chronic pain in your body. Negative emotions and stress. Energy. Kandace Lopez shares exactly how interrelated these aspects of your health and well-being are—and how integral it is to understand the energetic interconnection in order to overcome chronic pain, illness, and just overall pave the way to better health and wellness. I met Kandace through my Pilates teacher training in Dallas and quickly discovered what a multi-modal, intuitive healer she is. Her current focus is on bodywork, more specifically, myofascial release. She is also a master trainer in classical Pilates, the Gyrotonic Expansion System, and reiki. She incorporates these tools in her practice, as well as microcurrent and Amino Neuro Frequency patches… and probably a whole lot more by now. Kandace is such a quick learner and always has her hands on some new learning experience, and this was my second ever interview !! which was recorded in March. I should also note that we recorded this interview right after she did bodywork on me and it is crazy how different my energy and my voice sounds. She is magic! IN THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT: What got Kandace started on her healing journey How her education in each healing modality has shaped her life and her work as a healer How humans store their emotions in their bodies (and how our body is so much smarter than our mind—it never lies) Kandace’s experience in working with trauma and energy through bodywork How Kandace’s work with others has helped her further heal herself Why Kandace doesn’t believe that we ever take on other peoples’ energy Her Christian faith and how she perceives the link between spirituality and energy Plus much more… RESOURCES FROM THIS EPISODE Mentioned: Organifi Green Juice (Code: BRYANNA15) Anatomy Trains, by Thomas W. They have been injured doing that at some point before so now every time their body goes back through that, it’s afraid it is going to happen again.” “So, even when doing Pilates you’re doing fascial work and you’re starting to help the body disassociate between movement and trauma.”

Dr. George is a chiropractor who practices a technique called Network Spinal Analysis (NSA), a chiropractic healing modality that restructures and organizes the spine on a kinetic and energetic level. He is also a life coach who emphasizes the Law of Attraction to help his clients change their lives. Dr. George started his career as a traditional chiropractor, but after being in practice for a few years he noticed that while people would leave his office feeling great, within weeks or months they would have the same aches and pains again. Additionally, Dr. George noticed that he was taking on other peoples' pain during his sessions. He began to realize that many patient’s physical pain had a basis in something that was emotionally unresolved and the physical adjustments were not really getting to the root cause of the pain. Finding NSA bridged that gap and changed his life on a personal and professional level. I am one of Dr. George's many clients whose lives have been changed by his work and I am so excited to share his experience and wisdom with y'all! IN THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT: Dr. George's background in traditional chiropractic and how it led to his current practice. His belief in the innate healing ability of your body. Luke Storey is a former celebrity fashion stylist and entrepreneur, public speaker, podcaster, and lifestyle design coach who has spent the past 21 years relentlessly searching the world over to design the ultimate lifestyle through his extensive, personal research and development. Using The Life Stylist Podcast as his delivery platform, Luke continues to share his strategies for healing, happiness, and high-performance living each week so that listeners can use this knowledge to design their ultimate lifestyle. Luke's passion for sharing strategies for healing and happiness derives from learning to transmute his own suffering, which at one point consumed his life. In part one of our interview, Luke opens up about what he calls his "blackground," his drug addictions and the role that spirituality and surrender played in his journey to recovery. Bryanna also speaks a little bit about her experience growing up with addiction, and the two speak about how addiction is a communal disease. This episode dives right into the "shadows" and really pulls out the weeds of the experience of addiction from two totally different perspectives, which will lead up to next week's episode about pulling the black into the light. IN THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT: Who Luke is, what he does and how he got into it. What is Luke’s ‘blackground,’ his shadow? Luke’s battle with drug addiction, particularly his struggle with heroin. The role Luke’s own involvement in his recovery played in helping him get sober. Spirituality, surrender, and the experience of grace from the unseen hand. After learning of Anthony Bourdain’s death, I recorded a solo podcast episode about depression, suicide, showing up for people and talking about mental health BEFORE a crisis… and continuing to talk about it when it is not sensationalized anymore. I decided not to share the episode because, truth be told, it all still feels pretty fresh to me and speaking about this is totally a vulnerability stretch. I still carry FEAR and SHAME and JUDGMENT about my experience and about my interpretation of that experience (because at the end of the day, that is all us humans are really doing, right?) I started prepping tomorrow's episode with Luke Storey and was brought to tears as I was listening. For many reasons; this one really dives in, y’all. But something he said struck a deep chord and reminded me of my WHY for sharing these personal, vulnerable experiences and perspectives, even when (especially when) it is scary as shit. Luke said: “My story is the why. The why is because I have suffered so much, and I’m sure some people have suffered way more than I, but my suffering is my suffering and your suffering is your suffering. And it is profound, and it hurt, and I have found ways to transmute that suffering into healing and into growth and dare I say, even some degree of enlightenment and spiritual awakening and wisdom. So what a self destructive thing, in a sense, to do, to withhold that from the world, from other people, and to withhold the experience of sharing that for myself.” So here it is. Nervous, messy, and imperfect as it is. --- STAY CONNECTED Website Instagram Join The From My heArt to Yours email list . Cristina's son, Oscar, was born with a rare chromosomal genetic mutation that has required multiple surgical procedures, NICU stays, and regular physical, occupational, and speech therapy. He is globally developmentally delayed and tube fed. So life and motherhood is... complicated. But Cristina believes that all life is complicated and, ultimately, just what we make of it. In her blog, It's Not Too Complicated, Cristina shares her experiences in balancing her life and many roles, as well as her son's life. Here is her mission statement: I am dedicated to not only spreading awareness for families like mine, living with rare diseases, but also releasing the stigma of words like "special needs", "disabled", and "handicapped". It is my mission to provide a safe space for discussion, advocacy, and storytelling with a focus on the intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships in special needs families. I hope to educate others with my story, promote empathy and kindness, and serve my fellow special needs community with the knowledge I have, and will continue to gather, to the best of my ability. Having a child with special needs is a particularly stressful, challenging, and incredibly humbling experience. In this honest and open interview, Cristina opens up about her experiences as a mother to Oscar and the challenges she has faced medically and in her personal life, as well as the importance of having a positive mindset and attitude in dealing with difficult situations. I met Dan Price serendipitously while in Bondi Beach, Australia a few weeks back. The parallels between parts of his own experience and mine really hit home—it was such a reminder that no matter who you are or where you are in the world, mental health, hope, and healing is a story of the human experience. And that story is so important to share (at least with your loved ones). Dan’s darkest and most painful time ultimately led to a journey of healing and finding out who he was and what he wanted in life. After a near suicide attempt on the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and some time recovering in a psych ward, Dan deconstructed and reconstructed his life through multiple healing modalities which helped him face his shadows. Now he has devoted his life to sharing his story in hopes of inspiring other people. GET YO GREENZ at www.organifishop.com & use the code BRYANNA15 for 15% off! IN THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT: Dan’s struggle with stress, ADHD, anxiety, and the pressure both from his family and from his own internal high expectations to live life a certain way. The importance of knowing that it’s okay to reach out for help. The exhaustion that comes from fighting the physical and emotional symptoms of depression. Dan’s near suicide attempt on the Sydney Harbor Bridge, and how he healed by rebuilding every aspect of his life completely to give him a sense of purpose. His commitment to share his story and help others let go of stigma, shame, and self-judgment. Many of the different healing treatments he has participated in. What to look for in a therapist (or another healer), and why it is important to not write off treatment because of one bad experience or a misalignment with a healer or healing modality. The opportunities that have been uncovered for Dan and the doors that opened once he faced his shadows. How Dan now works as a freelancer in the mental health space and has the freedom to help make a change in all arenas — in the educational system, in corporate structures, and for adult men who otherwise may never feel that it’s safe to speak up about their own struggles. His perspective on the difference between mental health care in the US and Australia Plus so much more... RESOURCES FROM THIS EPISODE Mentioned: Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Today’s guest, Sahara Rose, is on a mission to raise consciousness and help people be their highest selves. As an author, podcaster, and Ayurvedic practitioner, Sahara brings ancient healing wisdom to the modern world, making it relatable, attainable, and practical for today. She healed her own health issues by applying Ayurvedic principles with her modernized twist to her own life, and now she is sharing what she has learned with the world. IN THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT: Sahara’s upbringing, where she was asthmatic, overweight, and unhealthy; always trying to escape her body. And how taking a hot yoga class in middle school showed Sahara what it felt like to be fully connected to her body. Her passion for social justice and human rights, and how that transformed into her passion for helping people in a different capacity—through health and wellness. How she came upon Ayurveda while she was living in Delhi, India, teaching health and sanitation (and how it took her trial and error of every other diet before she gave Ayurvedic eating principles a try). What readers can expect from her upcoming cookbook, Eat Feel Fresh. Why it is important to really tune in and listen to what your body wants/needs How health is only ⅕ food in Ayurveda, and what the other components of health are What a dosha is, an explanation of the three doshas, and their light and shadow sides The doshas of Donald Trump and Barack Obama Why it is important to know your doshic state How to figure out what your current doshic state is, and how to use that information to increase your light! After losing her mom at eighteen years old and her dad at twenty-five, Claire Bidwell Smith devoted her entire life to grief work—to finding connection, meaning, love, and light amongst loss and grief. She is an author, a grief therapist, and a speaker; she hosts workshops and is a book coach; and, her most important title of all, she is the mom to two beautiful little girls (with another baby on the way!). Claire so beautifully and gracefully marries the shadow and the light in her life and in the lives of others. In fact, Claire’s first book, Rules of Inheritance, profoundly touched my life. It was the first memoir I read after my mother died. I found Rules while engaging in one of my favorite past times—strolling the aisles of a bookstore. It practically leapt off of the shelf and into my hands, and as soon as I read the description in the back I knew that was by no accident. I devoured her book in a day. Sobbed. And read it again. I saw so much of myself in her and I felt so much less alone (which is the beauty of memoirs). I am personally so grateful that Claire has chosen to share her light with the world, and I am so excited to share her and her light with you all! IN THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT: How memoirs can make you feel less alone in grief (and in life) Her journey towards becoming a grief therapist Why the five stages of grief are misunderstood—what can go, and what is missing How grief never really goes away, but instead changes How the love and light in life is closely related to the loss and grief in life How Claire’s experience with a psychic medium led her into researching the afterlife and writing her second book Why it is important to feel connected to your loved ones even after they have passed How Claire speaks to her children about death Plus much more… RESOURCES FROM THIS EPISODE Mentioned: Claire’s Online Grief Course Dr. Elizabeth Ross’s Five Stages of Grief The Tibetan Book of the Dead Edgar Allan Poe—The Raven Caitlin Doughty—Smoke Gets In Your Eyes John Kabat-Zinn—Full Catastrophe Living John Kabat-Zinn—Wherever You Go, There You Are Connect with Claire: Website: https://clairebidwellsmith.com/ Instagram: @clairebidwellsmith Facebook: Claire Bidwell Smith Twitter: @clairebidwell QUOTES “After my mom died, when I was eighteen, I didn’t know anyone who had been through anything like that and I just felt like I was surrounded by my peers, who were living a pretty normal life, going to college and, you know, away from home for the first time and my world felt really different.” “A lot of people struggle within the five stages of grief because they’re trying to make them work and they don’t really work.” “That’s the surprising thing about grief—it can really come back when you aren’t expecting it.” “The psychic mediums were amazing; they were really incredibl

This week’s episode is with Dr. Adi Jaffe. I discovered Dr. Jaffe through his podcast, IGNTD, which he hosts with his wife Sophie. They are so candid and real about everything they discuss, including their relationship, parenting, and so many other topics that people often struggle with in silence. Dr. Jaffe is a nationally-recognized expert on mental health, addiction, and stigma. He lectures in the Psychology department at UCLA and was the Executive-Director and Co-Founder of one of the most progressive mental health treatment facilities in the country. Now, he has transitioned his focus into treating people online and through his IGNTD programs. Dr. Jaffe’s work and research are focused on changing the way Americans think about, and deal with mental health and addiction. He uses his personal experience with addiction as an incredibly effective inspirational and motivational tool. Most recently, he has a book that will be coming out called The Abstinence Myth: A New Approach For Overcoming Addictions Without Shame, Judgment, or Rules. IN THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT: Jaffe’s early alcohol and drug use, which led to his arrest, time in jail/rehab Dedicating himself for the last 15 years to studying addiction and figuring out what happened in his own life so he can help others Opening a rehab clinic and ultimately transitioning into an online program to reach more people for less money How online treatment helps reduce shame Why he is not a licensed clinician, despite having the requisite education and hours What he believes the crux of addiction is Four factors in addiction: psychology, biology, environment, spirituality How substances act as crutches to manage reality, and how his approach is like “physical therapy” to strengthen before removing the crutch How addiction is different for each person Why our current approach to addiction is excluding the majority of people from recovery Why having a whole toolkit to help people is crucial Why he starts with changing belief structures before all else with his clients Plus so much more… QUOTES “Looking for the single answer has been the reason we struggle so much. It seems silly to me to even think that everybody would be the same.” “The biggest system we have out there is AA, and the first step is to admit that we are totally powerless. People don’t like that; nobody likes to feel powerless. I think that’s a mistake.” “Imagine if you broke your leg and then you walk around with the crutch, and people say, you don’t need that crutch.” “They are relying on their substance—their porn, their gambling, their food—to manage their reality.” “They can’t fathom that somebody would become an ex-addict. In their lexicon, that’s not allowed; that doesn’t exist.” “We use the fact that people have a hard time recovering, given the system we have now, as evidence that they never can.” “The rate of drug addiction has not changed in

Today’s episode is with one of my dear friends, Noell Eanes—an Eastern Medicine practitioner, licensed acupuncturist, and wellness consultant in New Orleans, Louisiana. So much of our conversation today kept coming back to the theme of listening to our own inner guidance and intuition, which is something that Noell is incredibly skilled at, both in her own life and in her practice as a healer. Noell is a beautiful, intuitive human who exudes love in everything that she does. I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as I did! IN THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT: Noell’s long battle with an eating disorder and depression, her healing journey, the many tools she used to heal, and how it all led her to be the healer that she is today Plant medicine and connecting to the earth How Noell’s inner guidance led her to acupuncture Noell’s grandmother’s disease and use of pharmaceuticals, which led her question western medicine as a long-term solution The sudden death of Noell’s young boyfriend, which made her question her own beliefs about life and death, and showed her that we are energetic beings and not just “meat covered skeletons” Listening to your inner guidance and intuition (and how Noell’s guides are really freaking loud!) How working with our shadows helps to live more in our light, and how both are just different polarities of the same energy The different elements in 5 Element Acupuncture—earth, metal, water, wood, fire—and their shadow sides Carolyn Myss’ archetypes The shadow side of being a healer! How the stories we tell ourselves can manifest into physical ailments and how we all have the power to heal ourselves The importance of tuning in to ourselves and to the earth, especially in this modern age Plus much more… RESOURCES FROM THIS EPISODE Mentioned: Caroline Myss and her archetypes The Power of Intention Dr. Adi Jaffe and his approach to addiction treatment The Divided Mind Connect with Noell: Website: Love Based Medicine Instagram: @LoveBasedMedicine Facebook: Noell’s group, 50 Weeks of Wellness, where each week she introduces a new healing tool! That is my purpose in life.” “Seeing my boyfriend’s dead body provided this inner knowing that energy is really what I was connecting to, and not just that meat-covered skeleton.” “Each element has its manifestation in what we would look at as the most positive light; because it has that potential, it also has the potential for the shadow side.” “If we don’t understand that we have a shadow side, we are more likely to deny it and then live in it.” “Seeing that shadow as something to work with instead of deny will also help you to express more of the quote-on-quote positive qualities.” “The more you identify with an archetype or you put yourself

Welcome to the first episode of Shadowlight! I am your host, Bryanna Dee. I believe that this human experience is a perfect juxtaposition—the dark and the light exists in perfect equanimity. That juxtaposition is what most ignites me. I am allergic to small talk and I am obsessed with having authentic, vulnerable conversations about things that really matter; things like mental health, spirituality, the meaning of life, our deepest fears and desires, and the cosmos. You can imagine how well this went over for me at the bars in college! I went to law school to advocate for mental health but found myself frustrated with the system (in more ways than I can count). Now, I have now taken a step back from systematic advocacy and have moved into a more holistic, personal form of advocacy—for mind, body, and spirit. My mission is to share what I have learned (and what I am still learning) on my own holistic healing journey, in hopes that my story will inspire other people to tap into their own radical vulnerability. This first episode is my introduction, my story—what led me to start this podcast! IN THIS EPISODE I TALK ABOUT: Growing up in a home with addiction and abuse How that evolved into a life of self-imposed Perfectionism and Pollyanna Positivity My mother’s mental health struggles as the beginning markers for my passion in mental health advocacy and my strong aversion towards pharmaceuticals Going to law school for mental health advocacy My own mental health struggles; my “dark night of the soul” while in law school, which launched me on a holistic healing journey The holistic PhD therapist who changed my life Discovering the world of trauma Why I believe that the traditional mental health care system is inadequate and incomplete My mother’s overdose and its impact on my life and my belief system Learning to open up and become vulnerable and realizing that the more vulnerable and open I became, the more profound my relationships became Realizing that my “career” passion is not in advocating for mental health rights on a systematic level, but for more personal holistic healing for the mind/body/spirit Appreciating the beauty, depth, love, and joy that comes from talking about my shadows My new mission, to share what I have learned in my own holistic healing journey, and to interview amazing lightworkers to share what they have learned in their journeys. All with a desire to inspire other people to be radically vulnerable, to express themselves, and to ask for help… and to feel deeply connected along the way!
