KSL NewsRadio's Teacher Feature recognizes outstanding teachers in the Utah community. Each teacher is presented each week by a different KSL NewsRadio personality who talks about how they make a difference in the lives of the children they teach. Each winning teacher is honored with a plaque from Zions Bank, an overnight stay at Anniversary Inn, a gift certificate for dinner at the beautiful Roof Restaurant at Temple Square and a pair of season tickets from Hale Centre Theater! Glen Carpenter - Stansbury High

Keriann Moore - Doxey Elementary
This week's teacher feature award goes to Keriann Moore of Doxey Elementary in Sunset. She is actually not a teacher, she is one of the schools' secretaries. She was nominated because she regularly helps a student test his diabetes on a daily basis. She went out of her way to learn how to give insulin shots, and the shots and the needles scared her to death at first. And especially because the student is just a first grader. But she says that it's life and death, and she just loves the kids so she's happy to help. JoAnn has been working 28 years in the Granite School District where she was more recently asked to help special needs students who are unable to communicate correctly. She's immersed herself in speech and "comes up with great ideas, and runs with all the initiative she needs to make sure those ideas are incorporated into the classroom with her kids." Tracy Findlay- Longview Elementary

Sandra Curtis - Nibley Elementary
This week's teacher feature award goes to Sandy Curtis a 3rd grade teacher at Nibley Elementary. With the sudden death of her son and her husband's cancer, she is still able to make every day special for her students. She wants to make sure that by the time her students leave 3rd grade, they are pretty special, and that they can soar to the next level of education. Lisa Garland- Northwest Middle School
This week's teacher feature award goes to Lisa Garland of Northwest Middle School. When her husband became disabled, she took on the family's financial burden while giving as much energy as possible to her students. Her daughter nominated her for her positive attitude that is addictive. The students trust her and she is able to build relationships with her students. Logan Garland says in the nomination letter that "her love for her students and enthusiasm for their success makes her students feel good about themselves and pushes them to do their best. Every school she has worked at has sang her praises!" The letter goes on to say "Lisa is the most selfless, caring, charitable, and loving person I know. She goes to her middle school every day and tries to motivate her students to be better and work hard." Rocky Lambourne - Bonneville Jr. High
Rocky Lambourne the Principle at Bonneville Jr High, was nominated by a former student when he was a teacher at Skyline High School over 20 years ago. The anonymous former student claimed he was not a very good student and felt like he "needed to break him in". "Within five minutes of being in his class, I had disrupted, annoyed, and then finally threw (and hit him) with a wadded up piece of paper. I knew he was going to unleash the dogs on me, and he did." He goes on to say that the next day it surprised him because "He just wanted to get to know me, which was weird. We hit it off right away, and by the end of the conversation, he had offered me a job mowing lawns with his Lawn Care crew that he ran after school to make ends meet. I accepted." Tammy Lawrence - Syracuse Arts Academy
Tammy Lawrence, a 5th grade teacher at Syracuse Arts Academy, can always make her students smile, she even make math fun. Quite the challenge indeed. Mrs Lawrence "has treated every student fairly by including everyone into everything. Whenever we did class activities, she would always look around the room and check to see if everyone was included. If you weren’t included in school activities, she would talk to you after the school day was over and she would take time out of her day to find ways to fix it." says Lila Wilson and Aiden Pullam, students of Mrs Lawrence. They go on to say: "if you ever missed a school day she always grabbed all of the school work you missed and gave it to you personally. Then she explained what you missed during school." Bobby Eddy – Morgan Middle School
This week's teacher feature award goes to Bobby Eddy a 6th grade english teacher at Morgan Middle School in Morgan Utah. She was nominated by a thankful parent who was so appreciative of how well Mrs. Eddy teaches her child while also keeping the parent at the forefront of learning. Communication is so important to me especially since my student is the oldest and the "trailblazer" for my other children." Andrew Lovell – West Side Elementary
This week's teacher feature award goes to Andrew Lovell at West Side Elementary in Springville. His wife nominated him after an anniversary trip they planned to take to Uganda. Mr Lovell decided to make it meaningful to his students. While he was there, him and his students raised over $4,000 to help build a library. His wife says "He took pictures, used Facebook Live, and took videos so that he was able to show students the impact of their project from beginning to end." She goes on to say, "He lives and teaches by the following motto, 'People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care'. His students not only know that but they feel that." Jacqueline Wedick– Wasatch Elementary
Jacqueline Wedick, a teacher at Wasatch Elementary School, "embraces the weird and makes it cool. She embraces diversity and makes it acceptable. She will break into foreign accents halfway through class to liven it up, and is never afraid to make a fool of herself for the sake of education" writes Kristy Sevy, mother of Kenzie, a student of Miss Wedick's. Kristy goes on to say that "Miss Wedick has been my daughter's teacher for two years now (my daughter Kenzie is convinced Mrs. Wedick loved her so much that she moved from 2nd grade to 3rd). How many parents can say that for two years straight their child has never come home to talk about bullying or teasing? When I have asked my daughter about teasing she always responds the same: "Miss Wedick's class just isn't like that, we are all friends." Rick Lilly - Clearfield High School
Rick Lilly, a teacher at Clearfield High School "stands out as one of the most influential" writes Kylie Boyack, a student of Mr. Lilly's. "My fellow classmates and other teachers would agree. He cares deeply for all his students and wants them to be successful. During this school year, I went through one of the most trying times in my life. I was struggling in school and with life but Mr. Lilly always made sure that I was okay and was willing to help me with anything. He taught me to accept difficulties and make the best of them." Boyack goes on to say that "beyond school, he is another inspiration in and of itself. He has had almost as many medical issues and surgeries as he the number of years old he is, including but not limited to two kidney transplants and two strokes. Medical issues aren’t easy to overcome but Mr. Lilly acts as if they aren’t even there and he is extremely positive about life. If you watched Mr. Lilly for a day you would never realize what he has been through because he doesn’t let them define him and it is easy to see that he loves his job, his students, and the other staff."
