Send us a text Conversation with Betsy Weiner who shares how her training in Yoga and Ayurveda supports her work with clients as they lean into creativity, joy, radical silliness, childlike curiosity and wonder. Topics of Discussion: -Practicing subtraction and releasing additives that inhibit creativity and wonder -Providing guidance on what tools and spiritual teachings are the most practical and accessible -Finding the combination of holistic practices, such as yoga and Ayurveda, to spark joy For over 20 years Betsy has had the great honor of guiding, teaching, facilitating and mentoring, rooted in the foundation of yoga, pranayama (breath work), meditation, Yoga Nidra, mindfulness and an integrative and holistic approach to whole life wellness. Tantra and the lineage of Sri Vidya and the Himalayan Masters has been the main focus of Betsy's study, practice, and teaching. It is through these ancient techniques, and their application to modern living, that she finds the integration of where the inner Self and the outer self meet. Betsy subscribes, wholeheartedly, to the belief that each individual is born with innate wisdom and joy. She finds deepest meaning in facilitating the process of guiding others towards the remembering of what they already know; that they are a spark of the Divine, and ultimately, the architect of their own lives. She supports each client on building the scaffolding with which they will build the life most aligned with their inner Truth. Betsy's unique approach utilizes her knowledge of coaching, yoga, Ayurveda, pranayama, meditation, and Yoga Nidra to become what she calls “Personal Training for Your Soul”. Send us a text Conversation with Dr. Mark Stephany discussing why one should care about their health and take ownership of it through the power of lifestyle as medicine. Topics of Discussion: -Overlap between the traditional medical space and lifestyle medicine -Understanding the Lifestyle Determinants (Pillars) of Health -Differences between functional medicine and lifestyle medicine Dr. Mark Stephany is a board-certified internal medicine physician and American College of Lifestyle Medicine-certified diplomat who has practiced hospital-based medicine for 12 years. The choice for Dr. Mark to lead a healthier life came down to two reasons. One, if he was going to tell his patients to eat better and exercise more, he'd better be practicing what he preached. And two, since he didn't have the best genetics when it came to cardiovascular disease, he did not want to put his family through what he saw his parents and grandparents deal with as it related to their health and happiness. He chose to practice lifestyle medicine because it gives him the opportunity to make a world of difference in other people’s lives within the space of just a few sessions. Topics of Discussion: -Ties between Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Sports Medicine -Modalities within Traditional Chinese Medicine -Breaking boundaries of "specialist" society by driving for success Dr. Hilary Patzer is a Doctor of Chinese Medicine, licensed acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist, and Certified Health Coach living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Hilary is driven by empowerment through growth, health, authenticity, and movement. Along with coaching, she currently serves as the Official Sports Acupuncturist for the Minnesota Vikings and treats professional, elite, college, and high school athletes from various sports. Hilary had a very successful college athletic career and raced with the U.S. cross-country Ski Team for 3 years. She continues to compete in ski races, marathons, and triathlons. She competed in the Ironman World Championship and multiple Boston Marathons. Her competitive experience provides her with a unique understanding of what pushing the body to its limit means and how acupuncture and coaching can assist. As a competitive skier, Hilary over-trained and acupuncture and coaching were the two things that brought her back to a whole, healthy person and athlete. She pushed too hard, too often, for too long, and her body paid a price. The hardest thing to do as a peak performer is to take a step back, breathe, relax, and be patient. Mentally she was watching her dreams, goals, and passions evaporate. She knew there was something profound happening, she just needed to pause, be intentional, and receptive. Little did she know that this experience was setting the stage for her exceptional professional career. Send us a text Interview with Cole Carlson about how energy healing and sound therapy can be utilized to recalibrate the nervous system and discover one's highest potential. As an empath and healer, Cole has spent countless hours sensing unmet needs, caring for illness, and learning the language of trapped emotional energy in the body. Her former career as a Registered Nurse, primarily in critical care, was instrumental as a stepping stone to discovering her love for energy medicine. When her own mental and physical health declined, she noticed Western medicine applying temporary bandages instead of identifying the root cause of her wounds. This catalyzed her search for holistic alternatives leading her down the path of energy medicine. Through her own healing journey, Cole learned how unacknowledged childhood trauma and repressed emotions often manifest into mental and physical illness, unhealthy relationships, codependency, substance abuse, or other self-destructive patterns. She loves helping her clients reconnect with the emotional body to nurture their inner child and cultivate unconditional self- love and forgiveness through bringing awareness to unhealthy ancestral patterns we often perpetuate into our own lives. With a diverse background in allopathic and energy medicine, Cole holds a special skill set to help clients off the hamster wheel of pain and suffering to embody their authenticity and highest potential. She uses energy healing and a sound therapy called Biofield Tuning to harmonize incoherence in the body’s electrical signal and recalibrate the nervous system back to its natural state of rest. Valuing a collaborative approach, she provides complimentary care working with other healthcare or wellness providers when appropriate to ensure a relationship based on trust and understanding. She works with adults, kids, couples, and groups of all ages and backgrounds. Send us a text Interview with Mindy Haukedahl and her client, Chris to share personal and professional experience on how effective Neurofeedback Therapy can be. Chris had actually heard Well Connected’s podcast episode 78 where Mindy spoke on neurofeedback. As a patient of Mindy’s, he was inspired to share his personal story Chris had suffered since age 12 with PTSD, anxiety, and depression with no success in therapy. During the height of the pandemic, his symptoms went to the extreme, pushing him to try something new. After a few months of bravely pursuing psychotherapy and neurofeedback therapy, Chris went from being terrified of driving or being on Zoom calls to eagerly skydiving and proposing to his girlfriend! While Mindy provides her own perspective and expertise as a therapist, Chris shares the very real fears that held him back in life and how tackling his mental health head on with the right care provider completely changed his life for the better. We talk about the social barriers men face in addressing their mental health. Mindy explains why neurofeedback is such an appealing alternative to talk therapy for men in particular as it is data-driven and focused on brain functionality vs talk therapy. Mindy Haukedahl received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kentucky in Family Studies and Master of Arts degree in K-12 School Counseling from Xavier University in Cincinnati. After moving back up to Minnesota in 2006, She got a job as a school counselor at an alternative high school for at-risk youth. In 2014 she completed a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership at Minnesota State University. Mental health has always been her passion. In 2016 she became the Director of Counseling for New Life Academy in Woodbury, MN. She loves spending time with students as they process through life’s stressors, but it had always been a dream of hers to have a private practice, so she went back to school and became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist through Adler Graduate School of Psychology. Celebrate Your Routine Health isn't gained or lost in days but accumulated over time in the daily habits that shape our lives. This year, we encourage you celebrate the power in your everyday routine. Because we know, little habits done daily are more effective than big changes done occasionally. Designed to celebrate and empower you, start the year off strong and in community. Whether you choose to kick back and listen to panel discussions or chose to experience something new, we guarantee you'll feel the spark of inspiration you can put into practice tomorrow. How this event works This is a "choose your own adventure" kind of event. Meaning there are multiple things happening at once, giving you the benefit of choosing the one that most interests you. Topic Talks are panel discussions hosted by local leaders in integrative health and local practitioners you might recognize. They are providing perspectives on the core foundations of health covered throughout the day: Energy Management, Intentional Meals, Rest, and Play. Experiences are opportunities for you to try out techniques and experience the difference they make for you. This is a "try it on" option for discovery. Acknowledgements + Commitment to Accessibility We acknowledge this event takes place on occupied Dakota and Ojibwe lands. We offer our gratitude to the First Nation for their care of this land and the teachings it holds. Everyone deserves access to supportive, safe, and culturally relevant care. We recognize that the wellness industry as a whole is intertwined with white supremacy and extractive capitalist culture that often causes harm through cultural appropriation and over simplification of health issues in order to sell a product or solution. The reality is that we each have unique needs, and we’re here to show you all the resources available to empower you to find the right solutions for yourself. Accessibility is central to our cause. Promo codes are available for our BIPOC and immigrant communities, LGBTQIA+ communities, and those who specifically work for and within these communities. Well Connected Twin Cities

It's also an ancient and natural way for us to operate, and the newer concepts of capitalism and colonialism are really what have left us feeling so disconnected. He also helps couples develop deeper intimacy with each other and navigate some of the common problems that can come up in sexual relationships, and that’s really what we focused our conversation around. This last year has been A LOT. And as people are dealing with more stress and anxiety, it can have an effect on our sexual relationships. We talked about what to do when couples just aren’t on the same page sexually...maybe one person is feeling less interested in sex than they used to be...and he gives some really great tips for moving through these road bumps together and having more connected conversations about it. Another common issue that can come up is erectile dysfunction, and he provides some context for what treatment for that can look like. This can be a tough subject for couples to talk about, and we talk about some of the mental baggage that goes along with it and an important first step that he recommends people take if they’re dealing with erectile dysfunction. Overall, Joe uses a lot of mindfulness techniques in his practice and he talks about how using some of these techniques can help people make that mind-body connection, get more in touch with body sensations and recognizing thoughts and thought patterns.
