Summary: The late 1950s-1960s saw an incredible growth of interest in science. Those years also saw a second wave of interest in what became known as "creation science" - the attempt to situate fiat creation on a scientific basis. As with the first wave c1920, Adventists were a big part of it. Several Adventists were sent to prestigious universities to pursue high degrees and engage in the work of creation science. The Geoscience Research Institute was born. But just as a renewed interest in science elevated Adventist scientists, so a renewed interest in purging "liberalism" forced some of them into exile.
