If you're feeling the need for something lighthearted, really fun, and a little silly in your queue, then we've got the perfect recommendation for you! Ilana Nevins is sharing an episode of Personal Best from the CBC. It is not only a magical escape, it’s also a reminder of the good in humankind, in the shared private things we all struggle with, and that there are tiny moments to celebrate each day. The hosts are joined each week by someone trying to solve a personal problem and they take their guest on ridiculous adventures to tackle this challenge. This episode is Alone Day, where they are joined by Shemika, who wants to eat a meal in a fancy restaurant alone. The creativity in this episode alone is mind blowing. In this episode, Andreea Coscai shares a heartbreaking story about royal escape attempts and an inspiring fight for freedom. It’s a journey into the horrific experiences of Princess Latifa and Princess Shamsa as they try to escape from the oppressive rule of their father, Sheikh Mohammed of Dubai. This is The Runaway Princesses , a four-part narrative series from In the Dark and The New Yorker . This series is raw and fearless in exposing a powerful man’s influence (and corruption) that seems unmovable. The intensity of this story might give you chills. It’s a testimony to the preciousness and deep need for journalism. A quick note: this episode contains discussions of abuse, captivity, and trauma, which may affect some listeners. In response to a recent podcast episode that boldly declared the end of podcasting as we know it, we're breaking our usual programming rules to deliver an investigative rebuttal to uncover whether or not podcasting is alive. This investigation is led by podcaster, journalist, and marketer Wil Williams, who brings together a panel of sharp, no-nonsense detectives who also double up as podcast marketers: Anne Baird, Shreya Sharma, and Lauren Passell. The team interrogates the evidence, reviews the suspects, and reframes the tale. But as they piece together the truth, one thing becomes clear: the story is more than it appears. Their investigation unveils takeaways on how the death of podcasting might instead be an evolution. The Tink crew also shares evidence on this liveliness, be it the wonderful content that marginalized creators are making or that high quality audio is still to be found. Fans of podcasting lore and real talk, and those tired of “hot takes” won't want to miss this special episode where they crack open the case of the year. This brand new, six episode series follows one woman's call to get low. To move down from her pranged-out head, plant her feet back on the ground and let herself be drawn deep into magnetic places - befriending strangers along the way. Today, we’re listening to an episode of Someone Dies in This Elevator, South of Palenque . Someone Dies in This Elevator is a spoiler-driven anthology series, where there is always an elevator and someone always dies in it - but everything else is different. On the episode South of Palenque…some stone doors aren't meant to be opened, and some ropes aren't meant to be pulled… Rating: PG-13. This episode contains racism in academia, the consequences of genocidal colonization, and death in an elevator. https://pod.link/1560057600/episode/4a0c9303b69a65d9ab77b3b186773c01 https://sditepod.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/SDITEpod Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sditepod/ Tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/sditepod Here are all the ways to get in touch & get involved in Adela and Lauren’s projects: Recommend a podcast to feature on Feed the Queue: Email Feed the Queue at feedthequeue@gmail.com Leave a message at 1-844-POD-AT-ME to submit your podcast recommendation Lauren on Twitter Adela on Twitter Podcast Brunch Club: website | newsletter | join a chapter | Facebook Group | twitter | instagram Tink Media: website | twitter | instagram | Podcast The Newsletter | Podcast Marketing Magic This episode is sponsored by Ventures FM , which helps businesses, universities, non-profits, and individuals utilize the power of audio to reach their target audiences. Today, we’re listening to the first episode of You Didn’t See Nothin, Young Black Male Part investigation and part memoir, “You Didn't See Nothin” follows Yohance Lacour as he revisits the story that introduced him to the world of investigative journalism, and examines how its ripple effects have shaped his life over the past quarter-century. In 1997, Lenard Clark was beaten into a coma by a gang of older white teens simply for being Black in a white neighborhood. One of Lenard’s attackers was from a powerful Chicago family. The media quickly turned towards stories of reconciliation and racial healing, with cooperation by Black leaders and the attacker’s family. Yohance wasn’t having any of it. At the time of the attack, he was in his early 20s, writing plays, selling weed, and living at his dad’s house on the South Side of Chicago. Unable to stand by silently, he began working with a neighborhood newspaper to investigate the vicious hate crime. Reporting on the incident led him to grow increasingly disillusioned with journalism. https://www.usgaudio.com/podcast/you-didnt-see-nothin Twitter: https://twitter.com/UCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/UCP/ Here are all the ways to get in touch & get involved in Adela and Lauren’s projects: Recommend a podcast to feature on Feed the Queue: Email Feed the Queue at feedthequeue@gmail.com Leave a message at 1-844-POD-AT-ME to submit your podcast recommendation Lauren on Twitter Adela on Twitter Podcast Brunch Club: website | newsletter | join a chapter | Facebook Group | twitter | instagram Tink Media: website | twitter | instagram | Podcast The Newsletter | Podcast Marketing Magic This episode is sponsored by Ventures FM , which helps businesses, universities, non-profits, and individuals utilize the power of audio to reach their target audiences. Today we’re listening to the first episode of “The Turning: The Sisters Who Left.” The episode title is “S1: E1 - No Turning Back.” Thousands of women gave up everything to follow Mother Teresa, joining her storied Catholic order, the Missionaries of Charity. But some found that life inside this fiercely private religious order was not what they’d imagined. Former sisters who worked closely with Mother Teresa describe her bold vision and devotion to charity and prayer. But they also share stories of suffering and forbidden love, abuse and betrayal. If you make a lifelong vow, what does it mean to break it? What is the line between devotion and brainwashing? Can you truly give yourself to God? Today, we’re listening to the first episode of Skyline Drive, It’s Supposed to Be Fun . When Mangesh Hattikudur (Part-Time Genius, Humans Growing Stuff) set out to do a big, sweeping show on astrology, he didn’t realize the first interview would change the course of his life. But as he tries to put his world back together, he realizes the incredible ways astrology presents itself in modern society: from NASA employees who keep their belief in astrology in the closet, to world leaders who’ve used astrologers to guide foreign policy, to moneyball statisticians who use astrology more than statistics to build baseball teams, to a little shop in India where your fortune was written for you centuries ago, and is waiting for you to come claim it. Over the course of 8 episodes, Mangesh tries to decipher why we keep looking to the stars for answers, and what happens when you don’t believe in astrology, but astrology keeps happening to you.
