In Revelation chapter 4, the Apostle John is invited in through the cast door of the Heaven Theater where the final dress rehearsal of Act 3 of a 3 Act Play is ready to get under way. The scene is the throne of God in Heaven and a prologue to the future things. The production crew is assembling on the stage. We are drawn immediately to the Almighty God in the center of the stage and the peripheral participants in this final dress rehearsal of the greatest show in Heaven and on earth.

You and I, through the revelation given to the Apostle John, are about to get a sneak peek of the final production! This is a vision of special importance, giving us Heaven’s insight to the earthly scene that will follow. 

The way of equilibrium, peace, in the midst of this agitated world is found in joining the team of the winner, the Creator God, by bowing down before Him in reverential worship and dedicating your time, speech, and abilities to Him. 

This episode, in addition to personal exegesis and study, references the work of J. Hampton Keathley III found on bible.org. I came across his work years ago while doing some biblical research for sermon preparations. J. Hampton Keathley III, Th.M. was a 1966 graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary and a former pastor of 28 years. In August of 2001 he was diagnosed with lung cancer and on August 29th, 2002 he went home to be with the Lord. Hampton wrote many articles for the Biblical Studies Foundation and on occasion taught New Testament Greek at Moody Bible Institute, Northwest Extension for External Studies in Spokane, Washington. Though I don't agree with every single thing Keathley wrote, he was consistently very Biblically conservative and orthodox in his approach. In the article I reference here, I don't agree with his study analysis on the throne pictured in Chapter 4, but his work overall is brilliant. Like any commentator on the Bible, you have to read their analysis with the mind of discretion, because they, like you and I, are fallible and not right 100% of the time. The Bible is the only infallible writing on the earth.
