In 2003, a garage on the trading estate was taken over by a group called The Slough Pit Stop Project. Their aim was to help young vulnerable people in the Slough area by giving them experience in working with motor vehicles, which would hopefully lead onto qualifications and then employment The project now also offers opportunities in construction and catering and they have recently moved into a new building on Buckingham Avenue. This episode finds out how and why the project has been such a success.

Only one business has been at STE longer. That is how Slough Town FC have described their association with the Slough Trading Estate following the news that STE will be the official shirt sponsors for the mens and ladies teams for the next two seasons. It comes as what is a very difficult period for non-league football, with the Coronavirus pandemic threatening the survival of many clubs. The 'Rebels' play in the National League Division South, the 6th tier of English football. Their first game of the 2020/21 season will be at home against Hemel hempstead on Tuesday 6th October.

Almost 100 years ago in May 1920, the estate as we know it today was first conceived when a small group of businessmen bought a large government motor repair depot which was created to restore more than 17,000 vehicles returning from the World War I battlefields.
