On the Untold Civil War Podcast we have a sub-series called, "Beyond the Blue and Gray." On this series we bring a magnifying glass to the blue and gray hosts in order to better understand the culture, uniforms, traditions, and histories of the individual regiments that made up these armies.
On this episode I interview Allan Payton. Mr. Payton is the expert on the 19th Georgia and has direct ancestral ties to the regiment. He gives us a better understanding of the regiment and a better understanding of one of the Union's biggest defeats of the war. What might surprise our listeners is that this defeat occurred not on the fields of Virginia, but the peninsula of Florida.
