Old friends discuss local legends starting with the ones they know from their home state. Legendary people, places, and random facts about Indiana abound here. While we started in Indiana, the world is full of legends and we want to explore them. Laughter, history, and spooky facts included. We like getting down to the bottom of these legends and giving both the facts as well as the lore. If history and interesting stories, sometimes with a spooky bent, are up your alley, so are we! We like telling each other stories and hope you will like them too! Oh, one...

Send us a text Krys tells of the Gettysburg Orphanage. This was started due to a picture of a family of a perished soldier in the area. Sergeant Amos Hurniston was the soldier that started this by dying with the picture of his fam. The orphanage was built to house the orphans of Union soldiers. While this began as a noble idea, this soon turned into something more sinister. Yeah, not good and a breeding ground for ghosts. Tori takes us to another battlefield, Yorktown. Seemed like it was time for Revolutionary War battlefields. This was the most well known as the last land battle of the Revolutionary War. This was a siege that finally gave the US its independence. Fun fact, The World Turned Upside Down is an actual British drinking song and not just a Hamilton reference. You want ghosts, they got ghosts. Send us a text Tori leads off with the Capuchin Crypt in Rome. The monks used the bones to make works of art throughout the Crypt and the chapels therein. The next one was the Palermo Capuchin Crypt. This one is even creepier because the whole place is full of mummies. You heard me right, mummies. This was apparently a very big status symbol to be a mummy interred in the crypt. Guess what y’all, there are ghosts and they like hanging out with prettiest mummy in the world. Krys tells us of the Witches Village. This site has striking parallels with Salem in the States. This was yet another story about demonizing women. This strife ended up pitting villagers against their neighbors. Triora stands to this day and they embrace history both bad and good. Tori comes back with the island of Poveglia. Many huge names frequented the island and there are stories that abound of their time in both the past and present of the island. You want ghosts? Tori shows up to the party armed with three different cemeteries. The Granary Burying Ground, Nashville City Cemetery, and Copp’s Hill Burying Grounds. Send us a text TAKE TWO!!!!! Krysti leads off with the Curran Theater in San Francisco. This was a hotbed of crime as well as the theater arts. From murder to catching criminals in front of the building, guess what, you want ghosts, that’s how you get ghosts. Tori comes in second with terrible pronunciation and Dragholm Castle in Zealand Denmark. This castle survived several iterations and has a shady past. It’s been known to have over 100 ghosts. Several tropes show up in this story, including a lady in white, a gray lady, a mad squire, and prisoner bishop. Tori keeps it going with the Skirrid Inn in Wales, which at being over 900 years o;d has seen it’s share of history and ghosts. Krys finishes us off with the Watson-Curtze Mansion at Hagen History Center. This mansion on Erie’s millionaire’s row has it’s own checkered past, not to mention it’s share of ghosts. Send us a text Guess what kids?! Your favorite weird ass Hoosier girls are back in your ears. This week we hit up California for our stories. Krys leads off with the Sutro Baths. These were mainstays of San Francisco for years before shockingly taken out by a mysterious fire. Sutro had a tendency to accumulate relics from around the world, sounds like a great idea right? Oh, can someone figure out what land this was built on? Cliff House was next up and that was another problem waiting to happen. And it did. Tori covers the Queen Mary that has been a popular Long Beach attraction at this point. This ship saw it’s share of deaths and has ghost tours to this day. This luxury liner made 1001 trips before coming to port for the last time. The Grey Ghost had a more interesting past than expected. Krys rounds the episode off with the San Francisco City Hall. An earthquake managed to take that sucker out. Also proves that when you build on old cemetery, bad things may happen. Also, they buried limbs in the cemetery there. Krysti comes around with Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. Add in a vampire, a battle site, a horny gravesite, and you want ghosts? Because that’s how you get ghosts. Chuck comes round with a Central American cryptid, the mysterious Aluxes, or the little people of Mexico. These Mayan legends have stuck around to this day. Malcolm brings us to Scotland and the Culloden Battlefield. The last stand of the Jacobites against the British Duke of Cumberlands troops. A series of poor tactical choices and being outgunned made this the site of an absolute massacre. There seems to be an echo of this battle that ripples through every year on the anniversary. Throughout the upheaval of the French Revolution this was a physical example of the divide between haves and have nots. Time slips, ghosts, and perhaps even the Queen herself visits from beyond the brave. Some of the furniture still there is some of the originals as well. You want ghosts? Tori picked another haunted castle, this time in the UK, Chillingham Castle. This 12th century monastery turned castle is one of the most haunted castles in the world. Being on the border between Scotland and England, this castle has actually seen battle. Add in some torture, executions, and other violent death, the sheer amount of ghosts is impressive. This historical building fields 400+ performances per year and was built to be a safe place for the elite to see performances without coming under attack. This was the opera house that spurred the Phantom of the Opera novel. Krys also covers the Rue de Chantres and its gruesome story. Tori goes back to her roots and covers, you guessed it, a cemetery. Arlington National Cemetery in Fort Myer, VA has long been a draw when you visit Washington D.C. The history of this cemetery tells us that the owners of the grounds before it became the cemetery backed the wrong team. Send us a text Krysti starts us off with the story of Tippecanoe Place in South Bend, IN. This residence was built by the Studebakers and was one of the fanciest homes in the city at the time. Cue some poor money handling and the property was then sent through a series of owners till it's current iteration as a restaurant today. And what have we learned about old houses that have changed hands many times? You want ghosts…you know the rest. Tori tells a story she has been hinting about for months at this point, The Battle of Sharpsburg, otherwise known as Antietam. This was the single most bloody one day battle of the Civil War and opened the door for Lincoln to enact the Emancipation Proclamation. This battle was absolutely brutal and was technically a draw but it was the battle that sent Gen Robert E Lee hightailing it back down South. The last inmate left in 1992 and the place has been in several movies including The Green Mile. In 2020 a tornado destroyed most of the complex but spooky shit abounded. Krys covers Hotel Jerome in Aspen, CO. The president of Macy’s Department Store, Jerome Wheeler, showed up in Aspen in the 1880s and poured money into several businesses including the Hotel Jerome. This hotel was supposed to rival the Ritz in Paris. This hotel changed hands many times and continued to house guests till this day, some of which will never leave. Send us a text Krys skips the spooky stuff this year but makes Tori squee with the Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death. These were teaching tools made by Frances Glessner Lee to teach forensics. This lady was the shit and the Patron Saint of Policemen or the Mother of Forensics. The Nutshells debuted in 1943 and were saved by a former student. These helped investigators get it right for once. Tori tells the story of the rope swing and how we have a weird tie to a serial killer. Fox Hollow Farm and the tale of Herb Baumeister, the suspected I-70 killer. This man picked up gay men in Indianapolis and brought them to our next of the woods in Carmel. This house confused the fuck out of me, but it had a pool in the basement. He was caught due to his becoming scared of his behavior and agreeing to a search of the property. 11 sets of remains were identified and found on the property. Send us a text Tori gives us the story of the Winchester Mystery House. Sarah Winchester was a remarkable woman in her own right and she lived life the way she wanted and be damned to the naysayers. So many stories about the reason for her incessant building but the truth of the matter is unknown to this day. Sarah took that secret to her grave. Krysti takes up back to the Midwest from San Jose to Madison WI. Frank Lloyd Wright is one of the world’s most well known architects. What most folks don’t know is the sheer amount and tragedy that happened when he settled in Wisconsin. Murder, mayhem, fires, and a school, this story has it all! Send us a text Krys leads off with King’s Tavern in NAtchez, MS. Outlaws galore frequented this tavern in it’s heyday and gave it a shady reputation. Main takeaway? You want ghosts?! Because that’s how you get ghosts…Add in a spooky crossroads, some dumb criminals, and infanticide, you get King’s tavern. Tori takes us to Missouri and to the Zombie Road. Enter into a land of tropes, shitloads of paranormal phenomenon, maybe, just maybe…Bigfoot? Dare the shadow squirrels and flying tombstones. Krys comes back with Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Alabama. This cemetery is home to some unusual headstones and other interesting stories from the past. Tori rounds us out with a good ole monster, the Wendigo. Send us a text —-------------------NO CHICKENS WERE HARMED IN THIS EPISODE—---------------------------- Our thanks to Julie Gearing for her rendition of The Raven for our spooky episode! Tori leads off with the tale of Frankenstein Castle and some of the many myths that have been attached to the spot. This castle may have been some of Mary Shelley’s inspiration for the tale of the monster but it looks like some of this may have been pure speculation. Add in some magnetic weirdness and a dragon, you got ghost stories! Krys covers one of the most beloved and puzzling of classic horror writers, Edgar Allen Poe! Krys tells us of his interesting upbringing and even more interesting ways of making money to try to stay at school. Good old Edgar did some interesting things to get discharged from the army as well. His love life was more of a train wreck as well. The man was a bit more complicated than at first glance as well. Krys goes into the mystery of his death as well. Malcom is with us and regales us with the tale of Goodie Hanna Hovey AKA Hanna Cranna. This is where the chicken is involved as well. Once again gold sent in many people into a place where lawlessness may have created the Hell Dogs. Back to Krys and the Ceely Rose House in Lucas Ohio. Some true crime and ghostly things abound. Howard Street Cemetery in Salem has a place in the Salem Witch Trials and was the site of the pressing death of Giles Corey. Krys tells the story of the Vulcan Hotel in New Zealand. This mining town is now the home to 10 living souls but some of the dead have stayed. Rosie, curling, a post office, and the school all play parts in this story. William Robinson was the keeper of the lighthouse and stayed with his family at the location. William was the lighthouse keeper until two weeks before his death when the keeper position was given to his grandson. Shipwrecks were found within the area and William seems to still be in residence at the lighthouse. It also lies within the Michigan Triangle, coincidence? I think not…Tori rounds it out with the tale of Mary King’s Close in Edinborough Scotland. This little slice of history is in the middle of Old Town Ediborough and gives insight into the lives of folks from 1645 to 1902 when the last tenant left. Unfortunately like a good majority of psychiatric hospitals, the institution was plagued with tragedies and abuse allegations. The amount of hauntings due to this history is astounding. Krysti tells us about why Hoosiers are weird and some odd goings on to settle a county seat. Leavenworth Indiana was the county seat and was moved by force into English Indiana. Send us a text Back after a bit of a break Krys leads off strong with tales of McKinney Texas and some of it’s haunted hot spots. Starting with Buckner Cemetery aka O’Brien Cemetery, this place of burial was the spot of public executions and as well as a marketplace during said executions. The ghost of an indigenous person is said to haunt the spot. Next up the Celt Irish Pub and it’s famous poker playing outlaw Jesse James. This building has been through different stages and has some permanent residents. Chestnut Square Historic Village is our last stop in McKinney and this shows off the way of life from 1854-1920. This place has some of Krys’s favorite ghosts, kid ghosts. Tori comes in second with the tale of Deadwood, South Dakota. This wild west frontier town is in an area that proves once again, white people suck. This town was home to such notable figures such as Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, Seth Bullock, and Al Swearengen. These folks seem to be staying around for much longer than mortal years. Send us a text Tori heads back to Cleveland again for LakeView Cemetery on 12316 Euclid Ave. This privately owned cemetery was founded in 1869 and has several famous residents. Some of the folks interred here are James A. Garfield, John D Rockafeller, and the untouchable himself Eliot Ness. This is also the home to the Hauserot Angel statue. This statue is straight out of Doctor Who, literally a weeping angel. This boneyard is apparently the site of an epic chess game with tombstones as well. Cue the next LakeView Cemetery in Seattle Washington. This boneyard is the resting place of the epic Bruce and Brandon Lee, as well as the Nisei Monument, and the only Confederate Soldiers monument in the PNW. This is also the resting place of Princess Angeline a.k.a. Kikisoblu who was the daughter of Chief Sealth and her disappearing/ reappearing ghost. Krysti covers Liberty Hall in Frankfort, Kentucky. This was the home of Kentucky senator John Brown in 1801. Add in a vanishing opera singer, a dead soldier from the War of 1812, and a trope worthy Gray Lady. The soldier is a pervy ghost and the Gray Lady seems to be attributed to Margarette Varick. This historic house has ghost tours to this day, so if ever you find yourself in Frankfort, give them a look see. Send us a text Krysti starts off with another Central State Hospital but this one is in Kentucky. This is a current psychiatric hospital still in operation in Anchorage Kentucky. This hospital soon became plagued with the unfortunate problems that seem to haunt all old psych hospitals, overcrowding, abuse, and inhumane conditions. Cue some patient deaths, abuse investigations, and some shady “treatment” options and eventually the hospital had to change it’s ways, somewhat… Eventually this hospital had to change and the original buildings were demolished. This land became E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park. Apparently some of the former patients remain on these grounds to this day. From a unburied “sauerkraut” cave to small children spirits saying “mommy” this is still a spooky place to visit. Tori heads north from there to Cleveland Ohio and the Hans Tiedemann House a.k.a Franklin Castle. As one of the “most haunted places in America” this locale manages to end up on most haunted house lists out there. This home to the Tiedemann family saw loads of death within the first five years of it being built. After several deaths Hans sold his Victorian “castle” to the German Socialist Party in 1913. Cue some spy stories, Nazi tunnels, and bootleg booze, this was owned by the German Socialist Party until James Romano bought it in 1968. This family stayed for only 6 years before the “ghosts” drove them off. Add in fires, secret tunnels, human remains, and mysterious fires this place became notorious in the Midwest. Send us a text Tori leads off this week’s episode with the Ahwahnee Hotel. Taking it back to Yosemite State Park with the iconic Ahwahnee Hotel, this locale is a prime example of the NPS Rustic Parkitecture style.Due to the protected nature of the park, all building materials needed to be brought in to make it possible. Through all incarnations of this hotel, the park has always been the star of the show. And per usual with hotels of this age (opened in 1927) some guests never check out. The red elevators that Kubrick put in the Overlook were directly based of the elevators in the Ahwahnee as well. Tori did not forget to talk about the Fresno Nightcrawlers as well. Krys follows up with some true crime for y’all. The story of Wisconsin’s Poison Widow Myrtle Schaude with her family annilhilator tendencies is fascinating to this day. Her story and the subsequent deaths in her family makes you reconsider the “don’t take candy from strangers” adage. Send us a text Welcome back to the shit show! Krys covers the story of Muscatatuck Developmental Center. While this is not a fun story, it is a story that needs to be told. This was originally called the Indiana Farm Colony for the Feeble Minded Youth (their words, not ours) and proceeded to practice eugenics on this “class” of people. Way to go Indiana… This was the home for folks with lower IQs and did give them jobs as well. Cue a good staff and better ways to help folks, and part of the population at Muscatatuck was “happy” at their home. The eugenics seemed to be sidelined due to WWII (wonder why) but still went on way too long. Cue some abuse allegations and losing their Medicare funding, Muscatatuck closed. Stories like this are important to tell just for the sheer fact that we need to know how to do better for our fellow people. Tori covers the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Seattle Washington. The Grand Army of the Republic was a fraternal order of Civil War veterans. There were at least five cemeteries of the same name in several different states. These cemeteries were the final resting place for Civil War vets and the one in Seattle seems to be the home to the restless dead or at least echoes of them. Send us a text Krysti starts us off with the Culbertson Mansion in New Albany Indiana. This mansion was built by William Culbertson in 1867. By 1870 William was the second most wealthy man in Indiana. He lived in the house with several of his wives and at least three of his children were raised there. The amount of spooky stuff at this locale is substantial, doors opening and closing, lights on and off, menacing feelings, and of course EVPs. Tori brings up the rear with what you may ask? Cemeteries and not just cemeteries but a whole town that was started as a necropolis. Yes folks, a whole city where the dead outnumber the living at 1.5 million to 1800-1600 living souls. Next time you head to San Francisco ask yourself where the cemeteries are. Colma CA would be the answer to that question. Send us a text We managed to have a grab bag episode. Tori leads off with Potato Creek State Park and it’s stories of ghosts, cemeteries, and of course a premier birding destination. This reclaimed park has the fields of no for Krysti. Ghost kids, unseen hands, and women screaming. Krys follows up the story of the Starr Piano Factory. This factory has seen it’s share of famous artists that recorded there. Also a shitload of ghosts. The factory stands to this day, albeit in a way different manner than the original. Switch to Tori telling about the Lincoln Park and the Lincoln Park Zoo and its beginning as the Chicago City Cemetery. This cemetery went the way of most large cemeteries in cities which equals ghosts and bodies under both the park proper and the zoo. Up next we have Krys telling the tale of New Harmony Indiana and it’s almost utopian time in Indiana. Can we say cult? This has a long history of educated folks. Tori closes it out with the White Eagle Saloon and Hotel. This rowdy bar has it’s fair share of ghosts and strange goings on. Send us a text Strap in folks, we did another megasode. Although without the boys it could only be .5 designation. Krys leads off with the Witch’s Castle AKA Mistletoe Falls in Utica, IN. This location has a long history of being haunted and plenty of stories as to why it’s haunted. Unfortunately this location has ties to the terrible story of Shanda Sharer and her nightmarish murder by four teenagers. The Witch’s Castle also has stories of murder, familicide, indigenous people, and most of all ghosts. Tori goes from there to tell the story of the battle of Gettysburg and it’s mark on the history of the town. Being one of the bloodiest battles on US soil, the town and the land around it remembers to this day. BTW, this place follows the classic example of “you want ghosts, this is how you get ghosts…” Our sources:Newsandtribune.com, Wkdq.com, Hoosierghost.proboadrs.com, Lite987.com, History-records.com, Allthatsinteresting.com, Ranker.com, Wave3.com, Whasil.com, nps.org, civilwarghosts.com, gettsburgpa.gov, celebrategettysburg.com, pennlive.com, gettysburgbattlefieldtours.com Our theme music: “Danse Macabre - Busy Strings" Kevin MacLeod ( incompetech.com ) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Support our show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/trendylobotomypodcast Find us at FB/Instagram @TrendyLobotomyPod and at Twitter @TrendyPod as well as our blog trendylobotomypodcast.blogspot.com Support the show

Send us a text Tori leads off with the tale of the Overlook Hotel, well actually the two hotels that were both the basis for the hotel made famous by Stephen King. The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO was where Stephen King stayed at and had nightmares in. This hotel has so much history under one roof that picking out all the stories was tough. The Stanley has several tours and most of them tell at least one ghost story if not more. The Timberline Hotel in Mt. Hood, OR was the hotel that was used for the outdoor shots of the exterior of the Overlook Hotel. Unlike the Stanley, the Timberline’s haunted history was scarce. Still a beautiful piece of American history and had a cooler back story than the Stanley. Krysti moves on to the Williamson Memorial Hospital in West Virginia otherwise known as the Old Hospital on College Hill. Shout out to John Cassity, his pictures were what peaked Krys’s interest in this story. This hospital has a long history of odd goings on even before the hospital started getting decommissioned. The community around the hospital declined just like the mining did. Throughout the years, this place has been home to tours, ghost hunters, specials, and events. The stories run the gamut from ghostly nurses, horses in the elevator, strange lights, to battery problems in the xray room. Send us a text TRIGGER WARNING:The story this week involves sexual abuse, blood drinking, and animal abuse. None if these are explicitly described but listener discretion advised.. Krys leads off with the Murray Kentucky Vampire Clan, which Tori immediately freaks out because she remembers the story. Rod Ferrell was raised in a very messed up environment but his mother played into that immensely. In the 90s vampires were all the rage and some folks took it too far. While we are not ones to yuck someone’s yum, these folks took Vampire the Masquerade or an approximation of waaaaaayyyyy too far. From animal abuse to murder to police chases, these kids took it too far. Spawning terrible b movies in the process and giving gamers a bad name. Rod Ferrell is the douche canoe of Kentucky. Tori follows up with Lemp Mansion. American Hauntings get their props for source material for this one. The Lemp family was a big money brewer in St. Louis and left their mark on the city, This family seemed to collect tragedy and seemed to leave ghosts in response. The Lemp Mansion stands still to this day as a restaurant and inn. Complete with tours and perhaps some Ghostbusters-esque shenanigans from the resident spirits. Send us a text We had guests this episode! The long awaited visit from Stickers and Chuck joined us as well. Tori regales us with the story of Alcatraz. She’s been keeping this one in her pocket for awhile folks. From the discovery of Alcatraces in 1775 by Juan Manuel de Ayala to the present day iteration as a national park. A military fort, military prison, prison, and then a place of protest from indigenous people, the Rock has seen much history. The prison’s prison, the Rock was used to get unruly prisoners from other prisons to behave. Through many escape attempts and famous prisoners, this has been ground zero for many legends and ghost stories. Krysti follows up with the answer to a question that was asked when Stickers got into town. “What is a Hoosier?” The answer is pick an answer, any answer. From asking “Who’s there?” at folks knocking on doors to river men beating the snot out of folks to “hush” them, there are too many answers to count. Most likely it’s because of “hill folk” from England. Send us a text Hail, hail the gangs all here! Krysti leads off with the tale of Talbott Tavern in Kentucky. A whole host of famous folks stayed at this legendary inn. The amount of stories that stem from the history of this place is epic. You know when a place’s website has ghost tales that it’s gotta be good. Tori adds a little bonus about Mt. Hope cemetery which happens to be the resting place of Cole Porter. Apparently it happens to be one of the most haunted cemeteries in Indiana. Malcolm follows up with Norwich England which happens to be one of the most haunted cities in the world. Apparently 49% of people polled in Norwich have claimed to have had a supernatural experience. Malcolm regales us with his top 8 stories from the town of Norwich. Tori closes us out with the Tunnelton Tunnel in Indiana and it’s plethora of urban legends that are still told to this day. Send us a text Happy bday to Tori and the start of the bday episodes, completely including wine of course. Tori tells the story of Cheesman Park in Denver and it started as you guessed it, a cemetery. Mt. Prospect Cemetery was established after a claim jump started Denver. After many steps, all of which equal “You want ghosts? Because that’s how you get ghosts!” the cemeteries resting souls have either been moved or remain beneath the public park to this day. Krysti covers McPike Mansion in Alton Illinois. Krysti covered this for Tori’s bday because fangirl time…Troy Taylor. One of the most haunted houses in Alton, this is a destination for most ghost hunters. We discover that Malcom will not be visiting the haunted wine cellar and Krysti’s favorite type of hauntings are here, kid ghosts. Also Malcom is not a fan of darkroom sessions, at all. Send us a text Tori leads off with Tombstone, Arizona and a couple of the locations in the city itself. The Birdcage Theater is one of the most haunted spots in the town and draws patrons to this day. The beginnings of this legendary town is firmly entrenched in the US’s collective psyche. And of course Tori had to cover Boothill Cemetery because, cemetery. Krys follows up with the tale of Reeder Road right back in our home state. This road has seen tragedy and legend of all sorts. And of course the trope of the hitchhiking ghost. She follows up with the tale of the Wort Hotel in Jackson Wyoming. Fires, murders, and very helpful ghosts happen to be in residence. The amount of tales from this stretch of road is impressive. Tori follows up with a blurb of an abandoned amusement park in Japan and the fact that time seemed to miss it completely. Send us a text Krysti opens up this episode with the Green Children of Woolpit and their arrival in Suffolk. Apparently green children that show up out of nowhere should be offered fava beans for food. Fae? Children from another country? And this one is the best, not saying it was aliens, but it was the aliens! (Best part of this it was from Krysti’s corner this time.) The opinions/various origin stories for this are varied and weird. Tori went after another piece off US history, Shiloh. The site of a key Civil battle this land still remembers what has happened in it’s past. This remains one of the bloodiest battle sites in the US. From several key mistakes this battle was won by the Union Army, even Ohio showing up late worked in their favor. Send us a text This episode started off fantastic with too many tangents. Tori leads off with Union Cemetery in Easton CT. In this cemetery we have the basic chick of ghosts, the white lady who has a penchant for throwing herself in front cars. We also have another guy that died by burning alive. Westminster Hall and Burying Ground in Baltimore, MD. This cemetery is the final resting place of Edgar Alan Poe. We have a story of a screaming skull that screams at the same time each night. Krys follows up with Ted Williams and his strange final resting place. This badass baseball player set records that still stand to this day. Ted Williams is one of the few humans on the planet whose remains are frozen. This apparently created conflict within his family. His son passed away and is in the same facility. Send us a text Krys starts us up with the Bristol Opera House and it’s ghost vortex. Ghost tours, a supernatural researcher, and superstitions abound at this location. So many ghosts and we need to go there. Next up was the story that Krysti was drooling over for quite awhile, the Shoe of Shoes. The Brown Shoe company introduced many things to the US shoe game. Buster Brown was well known and that Shoe of Shoes. Artist Victoria Fuller brought us this epic sculpture in St.Louis. Tori follows up with a little known bit of history, the story of Fort Mifflin. Through the start of US history this Fort has stood the test of times and remains as a representation of our struggles. This little island has gone through many changes and many a soldiers last stop. Send us a text TW: Suicide is dicussed in this episode, this episode may not be for everyone, listeners discretion advised. Tori leads off with the infamous Mansfield Reformatory and it’s sketchy history. This prison started off with good intentions but quickly became overcrowded and dangerous to both the guards and prisoners alike. Made famous by Shawshank Redemption, this prison has been the site of several movie scenes, even when the prison was in operation. The violent history of this prison has made a mark that has refused to go away. From ghosts on fire to things grabbing people to this day. There are so many stories in this one location. And of course there are ghost tours. You can even participate in a ghost hunting class and then use your new skills to explore the prison. Krysti brings up the rear with Twin City Opera House, this turned out to be the Ohio episode. This continues to function as government offices, a movie theater, and the Ohio Valley Opry. It also has our favorite thing, paranormal tours! Both Public and private tours are hosted there. They have the good guys running that part of the show, United Paranormal Project. With 14 ghosts to choose from, this is a great place to witness paranormal activity. Some weird stories are tied to the opera as well. There is also Charlie, who may or may not be a ghost. Send us a text Trigger Warning: There are stories of both murder and suicide in this episode. Krys tells the story of George Pullman and the city Pullman Illinois. Pullman was not a fan of the amenities available for passengers on trains. So he decided to change this, in doing this he made a change to the way that people thought of train accommodations. The catch of this was those new cars were leased to the actual rail companies. Pullman continued to pocket the money. Due to his success, he decided to make a utopian city in Illinois. Let’s just say that it didn’t go according to his plans, cue riots and lawsuits. The town is now a park but visit at your own risk. Tori heads back out to the Nevada desert to cover the Old Tonopah Cemetery. This old west cemetery was only in use for ten years and spawned many legends and tales. Tonopah was the site of another mine in Nevada which pulled folks in from all over. This graveyard has been thoroughly investigated by multiple paranormal investigators and their teams. The cemetery has a famous next door neighbor, the nightmare fueling Clown Motel. This is one the only places that Tori says she will refuse to visit. From Chicago she brings us back to Indiana with the story of Dunn’s Bridge and it’s claim as being a part of the Ferris wheel that was part of the Chicago’s World’s Fair. This has all the markings of a tall tale, or does it? Tori takes us all the way to the Wild West and to Virginia City Nevada. The Old Washoe Club, otherwise known as the Millionaire’s Club is still open in some form to this day. Known as Virginia City’s oldest saloon, it is still slinging drinks to this day. Send us a text What better way to kick off Season 2 then Episode 50! Our 50th episode has been fraught with technical difficulties, from Audacity turning Tori into a demon to our NEW laptop not being compatible with our soundboard. Returning from our holidays with all new stories for all, Tori leads off with someone Florida fun. Ford’s Garage is a restaurant inside the Dean Building in downtown Fort Myers. Due to the hauntings there we figure out that Krys is okay with a wineglass being thrown at her as long as you aim it at her mouth. Right down the street the Edison and Ford Winter Estates beckons with random lights shenanigans to an elephant haunting. Tori keeps going with Sanibel and the shady case of Capt Oliver Bowen. This mysterious grave keeps treasure hunters sniffing around to this day and the ghost hunters as well. Next up Cayo Costa State Park and it’s little girl ghost (thank you Captain Joe and Tropic Star Adventures. Krys takes us back home to Monument Circle! The Soldiers and Sailors Monument in the center of Indianapolis has it’s own backstory. This is on the site of the old governor’s mansion, which was relocated down Meridian Street to the north. This monument is a tribute to the four branches of the military that were in evidence at the time of the commission. This landmark in Indy has it’s share of deaths and ghosts. Send us a text Happy Holidays to all! Since y’all will be hearing this the week of Christmas, we decided to give you some Christmas legends! Krysti brings us the story of Krampus in his anti-Santa glory. Nothing makes you want to be nice like a half man, half goat with a long tongue beating you with a stick if you are bad. In Bloomington Indiana they have had Krampus Rampage and Bazaar. Unfortunately we missed the boat on that, the day we recorded was the last time they held it. Tori covers Hans Trapp, the French scarecrow cannibal. Come to find out, was a real dude but the story was completely skewed as history tends to do. But at least the Black Knight sure has an interesting backstory. Gotta round it out with a legend from Iceland. Gryla the giantess and her 13 sons. Gryla listened to whispers about misbehaving children year round then collects them to make her stew. She also has the Yule Cat and his tendency to eat children that don’t have new clothes. Last but not least we have the 13 Yule Lads. Each one seems to be more gross than the next. These 13 are creepy with extreme stalker tendencies. Don’t worry, Tori doesn’t even attempt their actual names. Happy Holidays and we will catch you in 2022! Our honored guests were able to corroborate some of the odd weather that happens in that neck of the woods. The goings on of this weirdness is well documented. Not saying it was the aliens, but it was the aliens. Krysti continues with the Welsh Mari Lwyd. According to Chase the rap battling horse head needs to be a tradition here. Because nothing says Christmas like a horse skull that shows up at your house and demands a rap battle and when you lose, drinks all your booze. Next up Tori covers the Evergreen Inn Hotel which is now the Historic Manitowoc Place and it’s laundry list of haunts found on the ghost boards. Rounding out the Wisconsin stories Maribel Caves Hotel aka Hotel Hell. Due to fires and straight line winds, the ruins of this hotel capture the imagination to this day. This is another spot where there is a “gateway to hell.” Krys rounds us out with Pere Fouettard, Santa’s kinky cousin. Long story short, BDSM Santa. Father Whipper and his wife turned cannibal and killed and butchered three boys. Saint Nicholas shows up and figures out the meat is people. Because of this fact, Pere Fouettard now has to be Santa’s enforcer forevermore. Send us a text We had to roll for initiative to figure the order for this one. Krysti starts us off strong with an Indiana legend, Cole Porter. His musical career started at a young age and wrote one of the Yale fight songs that is still used to this day. From college he drove into the world of Broadway and continued to write music. From then on his course was set. For the time he was scandalous and not socially acceptable in some circles. The man led a fascinating life and was ridiculously prolific in his chosen profession. He wrote over 800 songs and many of them they were too scandalous the radio at the time. Cole Porter was laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru Indiana (check our Insta for pics of his grave). Tori covers another sanatorium but this was the most well known, Waverly Hills Sanatorium. One of the most haunted sites in the US, this TB hospital is iconic when it comes to any type of paranormal circle. Waverly Hills sits atop a hill overlooking Louisville and looms there to this day. This has been through many changes over the years. The amount of hauntings that have been documented at this location is astronomical. When you talk about Waverly Hills, you have to talk about the death tunnel. The current owners are refurbishing the place and they run tours so you can experience this for yourself. Send us a text My Rice Crispies are talking, but what are they saying?! Trains, trains, lots of trains! Happy holidays all and welcome to our first megasode! We were still doing a remote recording with Malcom, Chuck, and Chase for this one. Krysti opens us up with Union Station in downtown Indy. The first union station in the US, this paved the way for train stations to become easier to access for folks. This historic building has gone through several iterations to serve the foks in Indy in a variety of ways. As a hotel this is probably not going to be a destination for Malcom or Krysti due to the ghosts/manikins. Malcom bridges the middle with the Mumler photos and the story of the great spirit photography trend/con. Mumler paved the way for several other folks that capitalized on people’s grief for their own profit. Tori rounds out the megasode with the story of the London Necropolis Railway and Brookwood Cemetery. Another result of the lack of burial space in London proper at the time, this railway and train station were iconic in London from the 1850s and decades later. Send us a text Malcom stuck around for this episode as well and has his own story this time! Krysti leads off by intruding into Tori’s usual genre by covering Graceland Cemetery in Chicago. This was established to alleviate the overcrowding of the cemeteries in the city proper. Many famous folks take their final rest at this locale. The Palmer masoleum and it’s feeling of dread and cold, the Wolff grave, and Dexter Grave’s grave with it’s now famous statue Eternal Silence (take our advice, Google it). Inez Clarke’s life size statue features in the stories as well. Tori covers Stull Cemetery 7 miles outside of Lawrence Kansas. This tiny village has a cemetery and a crumbling church (now a demolished church) which are the site of a gate of Hell. Welcome to Tropeland yet again folks. Also Tori fangirled with this one, featured in Supernatural “Swan Song.” #kidsaredicks yet again. Malcom covers Oweynagat, the “Cave of Cats” in Ireland. This is located in rural Ireland in Co. Roscommon. This is in a field and known as Rathcroghan which is a 5000 year old fissure that is the capital of Connact. Ogham stones adorn this cave stating “Fraech, son of Medb.” This is yet another “gate to hell.” Our Sources: Weird Illinois, Gracelandcemetery.org, Findagrave.com, The-line-up.com, Atlasobscura.com, Seekghosts.blogspot.com, Chicagohauntings.com, Chipublib.org, Questionable Knowledge Podcast, maps.roadtrippers.com, americanhauntingsink.com, Kansan.com, natgeo.com, irishcentral.com, wbur.org, rathcroghantours.com Our theme music: “Danse Macabre - Busy Strings" Kevin MacLeod ( incompetech.com ) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Support our show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/trendylobotomypodcast Find us at FB/Instagram @TrendyLobotomyPod and at Twitter @TrendyPod as well as our blog trendylobotomypodcast.blogspot.com Support the show

Send us a text TRIGGER WARNING: One of the tales in this episode mentions a tragedy at a performance and briefly talks about the patrons at the show being crushed. We recorded this episode before the AstroWorld tragedy and our hearts go out to those effected by it. Malcom joins us for another episode! Tori starts us off with the story of Jane Addams and Hull House in Chicago. A mainstay of social justice and reform Jane made a place to help those less fortunate than her and built a community around it. Enter the devil baby of Hull House. This tale has many parallels with another devil baby from New Jersey. Continuing on smartly Tori tells the tale of the Iriquois Theatre, also in Chicago, and the fire that changed fire codes round the country. This theater made the mistake that the Titantic did and declared it “fire proof.” In the span of 45 minutes the theater was gutted and 602 of the 1700 patrons at the production had lost their lives. Death Alley behind the theatre continues to see paranormal activity to this day. Krysti moves on to Devil’s Backbone and Devil’s Bake Oven in Grand Tower Illinois. River Pirates, indigenous peoples, and poor choices by settlers abound in this tale. Esmerelda and her lost love seems to still hang out at the rock. Another disastrous love story later, we have hordes of ghosts wading up onto shore to hand a prophecy to a child. Another revenge story goes with the location as well. Enter Krys’s next tale of a corrupt religious leader that fled from Germany to the area around Devil’s Bake Oven. Let’s just say this man had several choices after being caught in his corrupt behavior and deciding that gtfo was the best option. Several of the stories have odd tie ins with some of our other stories. Send us a text Spooky Season continues! Krysti leads off with the Imperial Hotel, thank you Kitten! This hotel was built in the 1860s in Picton and was then converted to a hospital shortly after. This made the change to a hotel once again and some of the hospital patients never left. Tori continues on smartly with yet another cemetery, shocker right? St. Louis Cemetery #1 in New Orleans is an iconic landmark in a city full of spooky stories. This was one of the first cemeteries that required the above ground burial. This is also the final resting place of the Voodoo Queen herself, Marie Laveau. She and many other apparitions still frequent this city of the dead. Tours of St. Louis #1 are still available but need to be gotten from licensed vendors. Krysti brings it back to her old stomping ground and tell us more Athens spooky stories. Wilson Hall is supposed to be at the center of the Athens pentagram, note the word supposed in that sentence. Wilson Hall room 428 is now sealed shut, this was used as boiler room before it was sealed completely. The rumors of poltergeist behavior and student deaths in this room are passed on this day to incoming freshman. Seems like most of the frat/sorority houses are haunted as well. Send us a text Hail, hail, the gang’s all here! Chuck and Malcom join us for this episode! Tori starts with you guessed it, another cemetery. Bachelors Grove Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Cook County Illinois. 18 miles outside of Chicago and off of a closed turnpike, this is one of the most haunted spots in Cook County. This cemetery is home to many paranormal phenomena running the gamut from basketball size blue lights to the classic Hookman trope. Krysti covers the Ridges in Athens Ohio. On the current grounds of Ohio University, the Ridges was known as the Athens Lunatic Asylum and was built in the Kirkbride plan. This asylum opened in 1874 and operated until 1993. In it’s heyday it was on 1000 acres and had 78 buildings. This was a huge employer of the city when it was open. The Ridges, the main building, is now owned by OU and is home to many things including the Kennedy Museum of Art. There are three cemeteries on the property with 1930 people in them. The state no longer takes care of the cemeteries but NAMI has stepped up to the plate to give these folks their names back. From shadow people, disembodied voices, strange lights, and other assorted paranormal happenings abound here. Btw, you can totally go putt putting on the grounds of the Ridges, be wary of the vultures though. Send us a text Malcom guest stars this episode. This episode was surprise stories to both of us. There was no telling each other our topics beforehand. Krysti covers the Guyer Opera House and it’s history. An important building in Henry County, this gas light theater is still putting on productions to this day. This theater has numerous spirits that are active to this day. Tori covers the SS Eastland disaster in Chicago. This was one of the worst inland water disaster ever. This ship capsized on the Chicago River 20’ from the dock. This disaster left it’s mark on numerous locations around the site, including the makeshift morgues and hospitals. Send us a text We start the episode explaining the altar of truth and our presents from Zach. Tori covers the Oregon Vortex and the weirdness contained therein. This is one of those mystery spots that are found around the country just waiting to take tourist’s money. Can you say optical illusions? Next up we get a short history lesson about the Shanghai Tunnels in Portland and the current ghostly inhabitants. Press ganging, crimping, and shanghaiing was used to kidnap sailors to serve on long sea voyages against their wills. Tori was this many years old when she learned where the term “Shanghaiing” came from. Also #ghostkidsaredicks. Krysti continues on smartly with ghost stories! Krys got to go for the spook factor in honor of spooky season. The Ghost of Fiddlers Rock is a Tennessee ghost of renown and Krys tells his story. Moral of the story, don’t piss off snakes. Several other tales stem from Fiddler’s Rock. Last but not least we have the story of Amy of Lick Road. Several versions of the story exist. More tropes ahead. Send us a text Happy spooky season! Krysti has been itching to tell everyone her story this episode! An Indiana legend, James Whitcomb Riley is the subject of conversation. A poet that wrote such poems as Little Orphant Annie and The Raggedy Man. This man’s poetry was a staple of Indiana children’s studies and known to adults as well. His life was very interesting and so was his career. Continuing on with the spooky vibe, Tori covers the most haunted house in Australia, the Monte Cristo Homestead. The sheer amount of ghosts in this house makes it a prime topic for horror movies. Many of the ghost hunting shows have covered this location and it a notorious hot spot for paranormal of activity. Send us a text Tori leads off with the info of who bought the transaxle of Little Bastard and then actually tells the story of a haunted painting. Bill Stoneham’s painting The Hands Resist Him came to be known as the most haunted painting on EBay. All of the paintings in this series all rock a very creepy vibe. ZB tried to get hold of this painting and failed but did commission Bill Stoneham to paint him another in the series. The Hands Invent Him has it’s place in the Haunted Museum in Vegas now. Take our word on it, Google that shit. Krysti covers two of the ghost towns that are left in Indiana. Hindustan Falls is the first that she covers which is along the White River. This city was the victim of some sort of plague and the town was desolate by the 1950. Tremont is the next that she covers. This is in the Indiana Dunes State Park area up on the shores of Lake Michigan. This city has been replaced by a beach and a bathing pavilion. Ghost stories abound as we break into spooky season. The tale of the transparent toddler from the 1920s was a ghost story from brown county and then onto James Jenkins ghost story. Jenkins was one of Dillinger’s boys and was one of friends from the inside that showed up to break Dillinger out of jail. Jenkins was apparently a bad dude and died badly as well. Tori wraps it up the Edna Collings Bridge in Putnam County and it’s little girl ghost. Send us a text Trigger Warning: There are several stories involving suicide in this episode, listener caution is advised. We got another visitor this episode, one of our oldest friends and Patron Melel! Krysti opens up with Randolph County Infirmary formerly known as Randolph County Poor Asylum. This was another of the places set up by the local government to take care of those who could not take care of themselves. While these institutions seem to start with good intentions, they tend not end that way. Fires, suicides, hangings, and unknown numbers of deaths occurred in this location. And of course this is now the site of a haunted attraction. EVPs, doors slamming, and Krysti’s favorite, ghost kids giggling. Tori had a story fail with the Josephus Wolf House and internet feuding about the real story of the house. So what does she always fall back on? You guessed it, more cemeteries. Lafayette Pioneer Cemetery in Yamhill County, with a story of a witch or two. Or maybe three? Weather changes, evps, people being grabbed, and apparently the cause of Lafayette being burned three times. Also a haunted winery? Canterbury Hill Cemetery (Sunset Pioneer Cemetery) in Tigard is next with it’s shocking headstones. Kinder Cemetery and the resident George comes into play. To close it out Rock Point Cemetery in Gold Hill rounds out this round of cemeteries. One if the remaining spots in the abandoned town that is about 5 miles away from the Oregon Vortex, which a story for another day. Send us a text First things first Tori and Krysti got to actually tour Hannah House! They went to the Hannah House Paranormal Day Celebration and met a ton of awesome local spooky folks. Check out the pics on our Insta and FB pages, it was a blast. Tori starts us off in the great state of Wisconsin at the House on the Rock, tourist trap extraordinaire. A road side attraction in Spring Green Wisconsin, both of us were made aware of this bizarre slice of Americana due to the work of Neil Gaiman in his book American Gods. Built by Alex Jordan Jr. in 1945 on Deer Shelter Rock this place spawned stories almost immediately. Alex kept building onto the complex until his death in 1989. The story of Alex Jordan and his feud with Frank Lloyd Right is legendary to this day, emphasis on the “legend.” Now other than it’s sheer amount of “antiques” this warren of odd turns and interesting fakeries captivates travellers to this day. Krysti brings us to Sprague Mansion in Cranston, Rhode Island. Built by William Sprague in 1790 as part of a working farm and expanded as the town was taken over by the grist mill turned cotton mill. Legends about former owner’s murders, conniving siblings, wrongfully accused, and of course conspiracy theories are woven through this story. Hauntings abound here, from EVPs, temp changes, orbs (insert eye roll here), and things/people touched. Send us a text We had the pleasure of having Tara guest star again and Greg came with her to visit us. Australia came through with cookies and other snacks for us, thank you T, Harley, and Australian Greg. Krysti starts us off this episode all the way across the world in Australia. This time the story comes from Melbourne and the infamous Old Melbourne Gaol. This jail was built in 1845 and served as an operating jail until 1924. Currently this is a museum. This jail almost immediately became overcrowded and more cellblocks were built. Men, women, and children were all housed together for years before populations were separated. We learn that if you’re going to tell the British colonials to fuck off, plate mail is not the armor to do it in. The jail was decommissioned and when bodies of executed prisoners were found in the exercise yard. You want a haunted museum… Solitary confinement was something that was enforced harshly. 133 hangings were held at this prison and the gallows remain a feature in the museum to this day. Check out the saga of Ned Kelly’s head. EVPs, emf spikes, unexplained noises, and apparitions are still noted to this day. Tori brings it back to Indiana and immediately turns to a cemetery. Tillett Cemetery in Peru was her next target, otherwise known as Hookman’s Cemetery. This cemetery has a bubble of silence and creepy atmosphere. The hookman trope was built in the story of this cemetery. Stories about a crazed killer going after couples getting friendly in their cars have been in play for as long as cars and teenagers have been around. Urban legends bring up this kind of trope wherever folks are present. This leads to another trope about the missing camper in a swamp that was the site of a Native American battle called Okie Pinokie in Peru. In 1976 Joey Peoria went missing from the trail, he was never seen again. This trail has been the scene of substantiated body dumps. All in all Tori had many strike outs in her story/researching this episode. A big thanks to our guest stars this week, Tara and Greg! Send us a text Malcom starts with his story! He tells us of the Kokomo Hum and it’s odd effect on both natives and visitors alike. This sound has been heard in many places but is a documented phenomena in Kokomo. Are some folks susceptible to sounds outside of the normal bounds of human hearing? This is not heard by everyone but seems to be observed by select people. Could this be a nature sound? Maybe a industrial sound? Is this from Grissom Air Force Base (Tori once again points to aliens)? You decide. Tori moves to Oregon and Lone Fir Cemetery, yes she is officially the cemetery chick. From sex workers, city founders, dancers, immigrant workers, to psychiatric patients, many types of folks are laid to rest here. BTW, not wise nor respectful to build atop graves. You want ghosts… Krysti rounds us out with a trip back to Indiana and the resident spirits of Tuckaway. Home to a palmist that was employed by the US government at one point, some guests never seem to leave this home. The past owners have stuck around and have been known to make their presences apparent. Send us a text The boys are back for this one too! Malcom and Chuck are back to hear more stories from us. Krys leads off with Prospect Place House in Ohio also known as the Trinway Mansion. Built by George Adams in 1856 to house his family and new wife. Rumor was the ghost of his first wife was none too happy with the new wife and haunted his current house. This new house had some modern amenities before they were common. The first house they built was burned to ground by arson. Cue a second house being built and some shady business about who may have burned it down. Native American burial ground and a woman named Satan or a shady carpenter, you decide. Or perhaps it was the fact that George was an abolitionist with his brothers and ran the Underground Railroad through the house rather than the mill that the family owned? Rumors and stories abound about this house, even more shady goings on after George died and left the house to his daughter. Anna’s husband disappeared and a detective was employed. Cue a sighting in San Francisco with an unidentified gentleman. The house changed hands several times and is now the sight of the G.W. Adams Educational Center which teaches about the Underground Railroad. Oh, did we mention this house was haunted? Sightings, sounds, and some tragic stories center around this housed. Tori follows up by crossing the pond and ends up in Ireland. Leap Castle in Coolderry, County Offaly. Most likely built by the O’Bannon clan in the 13th century, this castle has had a bloody history. The castle changed hands into the O’Carrol clan and may have been built on a Neolithic burial ground, you want ghosts… Brother fought brother and murder ensued. Leap Castle has gone through many hands through the years. The current owners are in the process of renovating the castle and restoring it. During this process the oubliette was found, thank you to the O’Carrol clan. This location just happens to be at the confluence of two ley lines. Fae? Nasty deaths? Regardless of the reason, this castle is haunted. What kind of ghost is Krys’s favorite? Kid ghosts and many, many more. There seems to be an elemental that makes it’s home in the castle and the land surrounding it as well. Magick is afoot here for sure. Crime gangs, a serial killer innkeeper, and a river named Chunky, this story has it all. Caught in a murder spree to rob his patrons, Stucky was strung up on the bridge in question. He still shows up in ghost form that haunts the area to this day. Krys comes up with another story given to us by Harley about the St James Station tunnel which is under the current train routes. Thee tunnels were given many new uses including mushroom farm, air raid shelter, and currently an underground tunnel with is home to albino eels. This has also served as the backdrop to numerous tv shows and movies. Wait, did we mention the monster? Chuck volunteers his opinion on the monster and of course Tori jumps to aliens. More abandon tunnels and an excavated cemeteries=ghosts. Maybe even a Storm Trooper shoot out as well(only one bullet hole for a gunfight=Storm Troopers.) Plenty of ghosts hanging out in those tunnels as well. Tori brings on home to Indiana for the Pest House in Knightstown. Cue a smallpox epidemic and the National Guard getting involved. The Thornhill house was built for Charles Morgan and his wife Alvira. Due to Alvira’s declining health the pair moved further into town. Thornhill stood empty until the Board of Health bought to move the smallpox patients to keep them away from the healthy citizens. This gave Thornhill the moniker the Pest House. This is still a legendary haunted spot to scare your friends at to this day. Send us a text Krys opens up in Dublin with the story Black Dog Prison and the Dolocher. Black Dog Prison was the main debtor’s prison in Dublin originally in the Newhall Market now known as the Cornmarket. The conditions in this prison were abysmal and it was a for profit prison. The prison terms were dictated by the owners of the debt, you see how this could be a very bad thing? A debtor’s prison that you could RENT a bed at? Um, I’ll pass. Apparently a prisoner named Olocher committed suicide before he was scheduled, cue curse here. Guards attacked, a disappearing guard, and a black demon pig attacking women ensued. Massive pig slaughter happened and then just like the guard they disappeared. Enter the blacksmith wearing a woman’s cloak. The Dolocher chose poorly with this victim as promptly whooped the Dolocher’s ass. Next up we have the Hellfire Club, both Dublin’s and the one in the UK. Despite the Stan Worshipping rumors, it was a place to act badly for men, like playing cards on Sundays, and whoring. The spooky and weirdness came later. The Hellfire Cave in West Wycombe is the notorious spot that is seem in most of the ghost hunting shows. It’s been covered by many podcasts as well. The Dublin chapter made a very poor choice of locale, William Conolly the original owner and builder was not the brightest crayon in the box. Building on a grave and using the grave stones as part of the building just seems like a poor choice to me. All of the ghost stories are here too, you just gotta listen to learn them. Oh, I did I mention the streaking priest? Send us a text Tori leads off with Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky. This cave system is the largest in the world sitting at 400 miles of explored caves. New caves are still being found to this day that add to the size of this cave system. From it’s ancient start to this day, this cave has gone through many changes and has had numerous inhabitants. This has been the site of Civil War battles, a TB hospital, many mining operations, and much more. This was a place for new starts for former slaves and their families. Some of these former slaves stuck around and carved out a place for themselves. There have been mummies and ghosts in the cave system for hundreds of years at this point. She covers the story of Floyd Collins and his musical graves. The park is home to 80 cemeteries as well (110 covered now for those keeping track at home.) Krysti dives into the Curse of Kaskaskia and illustrates that Karma really is a bitch. Kaskaskia Illinois was home to French settlers during it’s first years. This curse boils down to bigotry plain and simple. An Algonquin man falls in love with a white settler’s daughter, this is immediately struck down by her father. The daughter and her love elope into the night and are found very shortly after. The daughter is placed into a convent but the man was tied to a log and sent down the river in winter. The legend has the man cursing the town as he’s being sent down the river. Kaskaskia had to be moved due to flooding in 1881. Unfortunately they did not move the cemeteries in time and still get bones and headstones that float up during flooding to this day. Send us a text Krysti leads with Campbelltown and Fisher’s ghost. Fredrick Fisher was an Englishman that was sent to Australia due to being passed fake bank notes. Fredrick scored his ticket of leave and started buying up properties. Fred got himself in trouble again and went straight to jail. Cue a shady partner Worral getting the power of attorney over all Fisher’s property. Fisher promptly disappeared and eventually was found dead on Worral’s property. Cue ghost stories and a 10 day festival in Campbelltown. Next up, Tori covers a cemetery of course. Rookwood Cemetery is located right outside of Sydney and is huge. Cue city name changes as well as the cemeteries change. This is still in use today. As a Victorian cemetery, it’s set up different than the cemeteries than the ones in the States. Ghosts and goats are found there too. It’s the largest cemetery in the Southern Hemisphere. She touches on some of the famous folks buried there and the spiritualist Davenport Brothers. Send us a text And Now For Some Random Stories Chase joins us for the episode of several little stories and tells his first cryptid story! Tori leads with Dog Head Bridge and it’s story of a car accident and two decapitations. Moral of that story, if you see a dog headed creature, run for your life. Next up Krys with Diana of the Dunes and her life on the edge of Lake Michigan. Independent and educated, she lived her life the way she wanted. She liked it there so much that she even stuck around after death. Tori comes back with the Angel Mounds and the Anderson Mounds. The indigenous people of Indiana created lasting monuments for their cultures. Archeologists study these mounds to this day. I’m not saying it aliens, but it was the aliens. Krys comes back with Doc Johnson and banshees. A horrible death with pieces of the Dr. and his wife scattered everywhere. Chase ends the episode with the Beast of Busco! Send us a text Madame Librarian and the Disney Dead Guys Trigger Warning: Tori says the name of Boehne Camp Hospital incorrectly throughout the story, her bad. Tori starts off this episode with another sanatorium, this time in Evansville. Boehne Camp Hospital was a tuberculosis hospital that opened and had an open air TB camp. This hospital housed TB patients from 1908 to 1968, then still was open as an alcohol treatment facility until its’ close. Guess what is there at the present? Condos, because that’s how you get haunted condos… Moved to the Willard Library and the Gray Lady, with Tori’s inability to see anything but Ghostbusters in the story. Krysti covers some Disney dead guys in prep for her vacation to Disney World. Bill Shirley is first up and his history in Indiana. A local boy gone to Hollywood and the voice for Prince Phillip in Sleeping Beauty. Also played a part in My Fair Lady. Next up is James Baskett and his break onto the silver screen. He was involved in voicing Fats Crow in Dumbo but was front and center in Song of the South as Uncle Remus. Even as racist as it was it was the reason he earned the Honorary Academy Award. He was the first person of color that received an Oscar. Did we mention both of those actors are buried in Crown Hill? Send us a text Tori leads off this episode in Illinois in a famous haunted space, the Coles County Poor Farm, otherwise known as Ashmore Estates. She teased this story last episode with the Parke County Poor Asylum in Indiana. The timeline for this property is long and well documented, and well represented in the media. Covered by several paranormal investigators in both print and screen. From an actual poor farm to it’s current state of as a haunted attraction available for investigations. Did I mention there are TWO cemeteries there? GH did a very good job debunking some of the claims of hauntings at this locale. Krysti brings us back to Indiana with the odd story of Watson Brown and his wandering corpse. The son of the abolitionist John Brown died during the Raid at Harpers Ferry and the roundabout way he was returned home after his death. Krysti grabbed another story from home as well, which sent us back to Irvington and the tale of another haunted house, the Forrest Howe House now known as the Irvington United Methodist Church. Krysti gets to tell ghost stories with this one. Floating women through locked doors and getting locked into rooms without locks. From there we get a bonus story from Scotland (thanks again Ghost) and the tale of the miniature coffins. Send us a text Krysti covers some stories sent to us by Clare all the way from Dublin, Ireland. Ballyheigue Castle is first up(actually in Kerry btw) with it’s stories of both the Cantillon family with it’s connection to the fae folk and the Crosbie family with it’s shady business dealings #pirates? #salvagers? You tell us! Also the interesting fact that the rights of the ghost of that shady family is now owned by the Dutch. Now we move to Dublin and St Audoen’s Church and its’ remnants of the only original Dublin wall gate. Horrible ways to die, haunted businessmen, and warring guilds are all present near the gate to Hell (red light district of old.) Back to the states and home sweet home, Indiana. So technically three city. Rockville was the home to the Indiana State Sanatorium and all it’s sundry facilities. Lee Alan Bryant Healthcare is still on some of this property. Send us a text The boys came back to hang out with us for this episode! Chuck and Malcom are back to weigh in on Public Enemy Number One and Little Bastard! Tori covers John Dillinger and his place in history with the FBI. A hometown Indy boy, John Dillinger started early in his troublemaking ways. From his first brush with law for car theft, to his last run across the country, the Jackrabbit was in it all. After bailing out of the Navy, he robbed a grocery store and got caught. Cue his stay in the most dangerous prison in the US, Michigan City Prison. After his stay at this prison he promptly got arrested and then his friends broke out of Michigan City Prison and broke John out jail. Cue cross country crime spree and earned the wrath of good old J. Edgar Hoover himself. Cue firefights, more prison breakouts, and of course the obligatory death controversy. Oh and don’t break out of jail, steal a sheriff’s car, and cross state lines, it won’t end well. Next up was Krysti’s coverage of James Dean and his notorious car, Little Bastard. We learn about James’s short but eventful career as well as his love of fast cars. If Little Bastard wasn’t a cursed car then we don’t know what is. Even Obi Wan knew that care would be the death of James. And a Jedi knows these things. Krys covers the rest of the story of this notorious death vehicle and the list of death and injury it left in it’s wake. Send us a text House of Madness and Mad Cow Disease We went abroad for this story, once again far away from us and upside down in Sydney Australia! We cover Gladesville Mental Hospital otherwise known as Tarban Creek Lunatic Asylum. Krysti per usual is on point with her history of the hospital and the leaps forward in mental health treatment that were meant to be started. Unfortunately as with most things, good intentions pave the road to hell and all those leaps and bounds are outweighed with the actual needs of the community. The hospital was immediately overcrowded and the horror stories of patient care began. During the hospital operating years over 1228 people were buried on the grounds of the hospital and over 300 are still unknown. You want ghosts? Because this is how you get ghosts… Tori brings us back to Indiana with our first cryptid, the loup garou. Which we find out is not your traditional werewolf, but why cows?! Tori covers a bit of Vincennes history, which she later determines is in the dryer… And no Tori did not look up the stats for it to be an NPC. Malcom was hanging out with us for this episode and weighed in on the cow in the graveyard situation that was addressed. Send us a text Today Tori gets to dive into a genre that we don’t usually cover, true crime. But this one hometown legend/villain which falls into our topic range, the infamous Belle Gunness. A Norwegian transplant to Chicago and then to Indiana, this woman left a trail of death and insurance fraud in her wake. The carnage and farm where she met her “end” is located in La Porte Indiana. We also find that Belle was not the first to commit murder on the property. Krysti covers the defunct amusement park Rose Island and Charlestown State Park. Rose Island had all the amenities for it’s time (1923-1937) and was located on a peninsula named Devil’s Backbone. It began life as Fern Grove in the 1880s. One of the steamboats that would bring revelers to the island was the Idlewild which was renamed the Belle of Louisville which is still on the river to this day. The park didn’t survive the flood of the Ohio River in 1937. Krysti also reprises more legends of Cry Baby Bridge. We learn about the monks that began the Kirkyard and the brutal history of the “Killing Time.” The Covenanters Prison is adjacent to the Kirkyard which is the final(or not so final) resting place of George “Bluidy” Mackenzie. Send us a text We start our episode today back in our hometown. Today Tori covers the Athenaeum and it’s long history in Indianapolis. Built in 1893 as Das Deutsche Haus this has been a landmark in Lockerbie Square since it’s construction. The Athenaeum has been a hub of German heritage in Indianapolis. It lays claim to the most haunted space in Indiana, not just Indianapolis. They have ghost tours and historic tours as well. The Rathskellar which is located in the basement is the longest operating restaurant in Indy. It was featured on Ghost Hunters in the episode Dancing With the Dead as well. Krysti ventures to Australia to cover the mystery of Harold Holt’s disappearance. We learn of both his military service and his political service. His impressive political career was progressive in most ways and was a champion for the indigenous people’s rights. He also had some different thoughts on security details which may have played a part in his disappearance. #notsayingitwasaliens Our theme music: “Danse Macabre - Busy Strings" Kevin MacLeod ( incompetech.com ) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Support the show

Tenskwatawa, also known as the Prophet due to his visions of victory, was sorely mistaken in his visions of glory and led his men into a battle that they could not win. This led to the surviving members of his tribe to abandon both his visions and Prophetstown, leaving a clear path for General(soon to be president) William Henry Harrison to take over the land. Send us a text 2. Why so Blue?(take 2) We decided to cover with a hometown legend for us, most folks that grew up in the Indy area heard about this place and the creepy goings on that went on there. We delve into the actual history of the legend and the spooky stories equated with it. Send us a text 3. Crybabies and Purple Heads Bonus (take 2) This episode was a bonus from the same day that we recorded the House of Blue Lights. We went on a road trip to see Skiles Nature Park and visited Crybaby Bridge as well. Krysti tells the legends for both Crybaby Bridge in Avon and Purple Head Bridge (Wabash Cannonball Bridge) in Vincennes, Tori had no clue about either story, so the reveal was fun!
