Krish Ramineni is the co-founder and CEO of Fireflies.ai, an AI-powered meeting assistant used by over 200,000 organizations. A University of Pennsylvania alumnus, he previously served as one of Microsoft's youngest product managers. Krish has been recognized on Forbes' 30 Under 30 list. In this conversation, I wanted to explore more than just how Fireflies became one of the most powerful AI tools. I wanted to understand what it means when machines start writing our stories, mimicking our voices, and sitting in on our most human conversations. Can AI ever truly capture the grit, chaos, and beauty of lived experience—or are we on the verge of losing something essential? We talk about the tension between progress and preservation, and whether the future of storytelling is human, machine—or something in between. Krish and I also dive into the emotional and societal weight of this moment: AI companionship, job displacement, and the possibility of a world where our most personal connections and creative output are filtered through algorithms. If AI can do everything—write, talk, create, even empathise—what’s left for us? This isn’t just a tech story; it’s a human story. And as we stand at the edge of a new era, the real question is: will we still recognise ourselves in the future we’re building... and will we want to? Nick Yarris is a speaker, writer and ex-death row inmate. I had the privilege of sitting down with Nick Yarris in London. Nick spent 22 years on death row for a murder he didn't commit. Nick is an author, motivational speaker, and the subject of the documentary film "Fear of 13," available on Netflix. He's also the inspiration for a play currently running in London, starring Adrien Brody. At 21, after enduring a violent childhood, Nick found himself in a situation that led to his wrongful conviction and life sentence. In the 1980s, prisons and guards were notoriously harsh to convicts of such crimes. Enforced silences, caged dog-fights, guard beatdowns, and "quality time" with psychopaths were commonplace. Nick became the FBI's Most Wanted Man after a prison escape but soon turned himself back in. He promised his mother he wouldn't waste his time on death row becoming embittered by his wrongful accusation. Nick became both the kindest and most dangerous man on death row. He taught himself to read in prison, becoming a student of language and religion. He wrote letters home to family, friends, and lawyers of other inmates. His eloquent and powerful communication led him to become the first death row inmate to request DNA testing. As a result, Nick was exonerated in 2004 after DNA technology proved his innocence. Nick spent 22 years behind the toughest bars for another man's crime. He was tortured mentally and physically for an act he did not commit. Yet, Nick tells me, "Death row is like a fond memory to me. I am no longer disturbed by what happened to me." Since his release, Nick has become an author, anti-death penalty activist, and inspiring public speaker. He uses his pain as his purpose. He uses his pain to connect. Five years ago, after seeing Nick on Joe Rogan, I reached out before I started my podcast. I thanked him, we connected, and we've been friends since. His story isn't just about survival—it's about thriving against impossible odds and emerging triumphant from trauma. This episode hits hard. Prepare for tears. --- Sponsors: Thanks Finnieston clothing in Glasgow for sponsoring this episode - https://finniestonclothing.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoo6PMx7H5ckHcQILm2wcGAT-bNC9pMAXfRlFiSi3B2ECXKxpShb Thanks to David Millar at Mantra Menswork for sponsoring this episode - https://mantra-menswork.mykajabi.com/man-alive?preview_theme_id=2155765370 Find Me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/davidmcintoshjr/?hl=en Find Me on Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@develop

Will Storr is a Journalist and Award-Winning Author of The Status Game, Selfie, The Heretics and the Science of Story Telling. If you are low-status, you are more 4x more likely to die early. Status is proven to be more important than diet or exercise for health outcomes.. Status is not just a modern phenomenon; it's a fundamental part of the human experience, existing long before our current society. As writer Will Storr explains, the need for status and respect from others is not merely a luxury—it's an essential psychological and biological requirement for humans to thrive. He calls it the original currency. Throughout history, status hierarchies have existed in animal societies, serving as a means to organise social life and prevent constant conflict. From our tribal ancestors to modern civilization, the desire for status has deeply shaped human behavior and social structures. But despite its importance, the topic of status often makes people feel uneasy. While discussions about connection and belonging are more comfortable, status remains a somewhat taboo subject. It's this discomfort that has perhaps led to fewer books being written about this universal human drive. However, Storr's work aims to shed light on this fundamental aspect of the human condition, unraveling its complexities and unveiling its significance in our lives. Also, join us to hear about the psychology of cults, why architechts are the most illusive modern day cult, Will’s experience from going undercover following Neo-Nazi’s to understand the madness of groupthink and his experiences of David Irving the infamous holocaust denier. Jimmy Carr is an world-touring comedian, writer, author, TV host for shows including, ‘8 Out Of 10 Cats’, ‘Roast Battle’, and ‘Big Fat Quiz Of The Year’. He is a hero of mine. For this episode, headed from Glasgow to London to have a conversation with the deepest thinker, hardest worker, and kindest soul in comedy. Beyond the dark mask you've seen on stage and on TV, Jimmy's origin story is complex, and his thinking is philosophical. I was blown away by how he has turned his remarkable life story into a set of lessons for us all to take onward. Despite how he presents himself, Jimmy’s story is one that begins as a working-class Irish immigrant in Slough and will inevitably end with him being cemented as a legend when his physical being is no longer around. But, the path there has not always been as straightforward as it seems. Jimmy shares with me the intimate details of grieving his mother, facing the wrath of public cancellation, and wrestling with dyslexia. He also astounded me with novel ideas around comedy’s role in society, how to serve your future self, and the importance of experiential learning. Filmed in the very basement where I first fell in love with stand-up, this episode is a full-circle moment. And with stunning cinematography by the talented Andres, it's a visual feast. My sister and I used to watch Jimmy in our miserable tiny house in a council estate in Ayrshire, and now I had the opportunity to bring her to meet her hero too. Jimmy was my gateway drug to comedy. And, as Jimmy professes, comedians are drug dealers. This week my guest is Steven Beattie. A medicine student at University of Dundee and a Personal Trainer. This introduction might sound typical or “out of the box” but trust me it is not. Steven’s story is the most unique, electric and traumatic I have ever heard on The Development by David Podcast Born into deprivation and addiction, Steven's life has been full of challenges, including growing up in gang culture, caring for parents with serious illnesses, serving time in Europe's most dangerous prison, surviving multiple near-death experiences including multiple stabbings and a 70mph drunk crash. Despite these obstacles and experiences, Steven has been able to turn his life around, studying physiology at The University of Glasgow and now becoming a doctor. Steven has also trained for the marines, learned fluent spanish and became the fastest sprinter in Universities across Scotland. This podcast is not just about one man's journey, but about the potential of all young people who are struggling to find their way. It's a message of hope and inspiration for anyone who has faced adversity and felt like giving up In this podcast, Steven shares his journey for the first time. Steven's story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and a source of inspiration for anyone looking to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. He shares the important lesson that where you come from doesn't define where you can go, and that with determination and hard work, anything is possible. I have and will never release a podcast like this. — This episode sponsored by Vybey. If you love this podcast - check out Vybey’s Website! From £1.50p a meal you can buy their delicious products. This week my guest is Paul Shields. A Stanford student, therapist, podcast producer, podcast host and previously gigging rock and roll artist. ** Explicit Language and Topics Used** This podcast is an account of growing up in the roughest part of Glasgow. During the 80s and 90s Paul was surrounded by working class culture, violence, drugs, mental health struggles and poverty. We speak about about how that shaped Paul and how he pulled strength from these circumstances but also the counterbalancing effects it had on him him later in life. Learn how the fear from his Dad mustered aggression in him and how he became hyper normalised to violence through gang fights and scheme wars. Paul discovered drugs, guitar and his creative side which let him to parking his academic career for a decade. He toured the country playing in the some of the most renown stages in the UK supporting some of the craziest bands. Paul uncovers the reality of being a touring musician but also how his earlier childhood dictated his persona in the band - a persona he had to unwind later in therapy. Paul lost his dad at 21. Learn about the promise Paul made to his dad to continue playing and pursuing music and how this led him to gigging in the same same week as as his Dad's funeral. Paul then struggled with a porn addiction that led to erectile dysfunction at an alarmingly young age. Paul sought help from a therapist who unlocked in him the power of self-help through the works of world renown therapist David Burns. Paul has went on to study to become a therapist over a decade after initially joining university and has become a practitioner in Glasgow whilst running a successful podcast studio. He is a Cambridge Alumni. He penned one my favourite books Alchemy: The Power of Ideas That Don’t Make Sense We are all consumers. We interact with products and services every hour of every day, But we don’t all know the irrationalities embedded in behaviour that make us do the things we do. Especially the things that don’t make sense. Rory brings these into the light. Human behaviour is far less rational and sophisticated than we might claim. In this episode we speak about: Why rich people compete for art but not architecture Why Rory believes in “car free Sundays” Why McDonald’s touchscreens make you consume more calories Rory’s thoughts on Wetherspoons and his “mushy pea bombardment” Rory’s hypothetical “one behavioural reset” during lockdown & the psychology of Uber maps and P*rn. PART 2: Nick Yarris is an American writer who spent 22 years on death row in Pennsylvania after being wrongfully convicted of murder. Nick has given us his last podcast appearance ever - almost as a gift. Across these two episodes, he shares his last lessons from death-row. He has shared his story across national television outlets and even on Joe Rogan. We laughed, we cried and we laughed again. In light of the horrific experiences, Nick said that prison was like a fond memory to him - due to learning and practicing neuro-plasticity healing. "best thing" to happen to him. "I have a photograph of the street gang I was in when I was a teenager. There were 27 of us, 26 are dead now. "Death row saved my life. It taught me everything is a luxury to be treasured." He later said: "When I got out, I got a mantra from my mother, who sat me down and said that I had to be a polite and kind man from now on and that I had to be kind, otherwise it was a waste of coming home." Nick goes in depth on the struggle of being on death row telling of some very traumatic experiences and how he taught himself the skills to cope through them and the rest of his life. He then opens up about losing his career during covid as all public speaking opportunities across the globe came to a halt. He also provided us the deepest account of losing his child of SIDS. PART 1: Nick Yarris is an American writer who spent 22 years on death row in Pennsylvania after being wrongfully convicted of murder. He ended by thanking listeners of this show and left with a message of love - as he hangs up the podcasting boots. What an honour. Thank you Nick. This week my guest is Gordon Belch. Gordon is the co-founder of nutritious food brand vybey and Head of Finance at an international engineering firm. Out with being an entrepreneur, he is also deeply practiced in self optimisation through mindfulness, meditation and cold water therapy. He speaks on the cross-roads between entrepreneurialism and self-care. Together, we speak about: How entrepreneurialism is either learned or heritable but super-powered when they are combined; How childhoods signals of entrepreneurialism mature. Gordon bought and sold sweets on the playground How to turn a problem into ideation and subsequently creation - like Gordon did with vybey; The process of obtaining investment and how the incensed accountability scales dedication; How self-care and entrepreneurialism aren’t mutually exclusive and how Gordon believes the are married; How to find the best co-founder; How Gordon accidentally created culture capital that he could cash in for reward; And, what it’s like to be at the cusp of a million dollar deal. This one was a sentimental one to me as Gordon was one of my very first models. I speak about how my notion to break free from convention (and start this podcast) was an embryo of his mentoring. Mark Walsh is the Director of the Embodied Facilitator Course & Founder of Embodiment Unlimited. Why hasn’t Wikipedia solved all the worlds problems? It’s because we rely solely on information and cognition. We don’t treat the body as one with the mind. You can get out of your head by getting in tune with the body – THIS IS EMBODIMENT. Embodiment is about learning and practicing what is not theoretical. Leadership, relationship, stress management - these are all skill sets where the body really matters. The body is more than a taxi to carry the brain around. It’s the study of how we are not who we are and what we know. This week I am sharing my appearance on Ben Coomber's Number 1 Rated Podcast: Ben Coomber Radio. You might recognise his name.. that's because he was last weeks guest. Here is what Ben had to say about our episode together: "If David can do it, surely we can all rewrite our story, however pre-determined it feels? Coming from a family of poverty, with a PTSD suffering father, to a parent dying young, to growing up in an environment where staying in poverty and never breaking out feels inevitable, to becoming Scotland’s 1st apprentice management consultant, best young consultant in the country to apprentice of the year 2020, to founding chairing 2 social networks for Social Mobility, to meeting the queen, and to partnering with Marcus Rashford at work, this is the story of David McIntosh. At just 23 I was in awe of his wisdom and ideas, it was a pleasure to interview David. We discussed how we as humans can choose to feel empowered and have agency in a digital age, how the internet when used correctly can bring people out of poverty, how radical courage at key sliding door moments can change your life, how having tunnel vision on ONE goal could bring you out of your bad situation, and how embracing your weirdness could set you apart in a world where everyone is trying to conform. A truly inspiring young man. I hope you enjoy this show, and if you find it inspiring, please send it on to someone else.... "

Ben Coomber is the owner of Awesome Supplements. He is also a coach, nutritionist and host of the number one health and fitness podcast in the UK. Ben brings to life a decade in the health and fitness industry. He proves that fitness can and will always be inclusive. Ben speaks about how he cashed in on his identity and didn't espouse to his military school's expectations and archetype. Ben has excelled in every pocket of the health and fitness industry and acted upon numerous moments of courage that have allowed him to level up to the next rung. He has repeated this over a life time and has reaped the rewards. Ben draw's from his lessons from failure. Since leaving university, despite the ultimate highs, Ben and his businesses have had some serious lows. He remembers his accountant telling him that he needs £80k to stay afloat one month. Amidst this, he also agreed to completely remove dairy from his product line at a time where whey protein netted 20% of his sales. Why? To create identity capital. He wanted to be known as THE vegan supplement brand. He focussed his efforts towards sustainability by replacing tubs with sachets. One of my favourite moments of this podcast was when I asked "Do you have any regrets?". He replied "whenever I have had regret I have made sure I have replicated that opportunity". Ben is transparent about the sacrifices it takes to be an entrepreneur and a supplement brand founder. He debunks social medias fetishisation of entrepreneurship. Ben outlays the road to release when it comes to putting protein products on the shelf. This account is mic drop after mic drop - the self development nerd in me was foaming at the mouth! I remember this episode where both Rory and I opened and cried. I made a great friend from this episode. We have leaned on each other since. This snippet is from the wonderful Rory McGuire who featured on episode 10 “Owning a Facial Birthmark” to commemorate time to talk day just over a year ago. Imagine your childhood dream is your current everyday normality? Rory’s childhood dream was not to be an astronaut, race car driver, celebrity, or entrepreneur. It was to be able to walk down the street without people stare at him. This is because Rory was born with a venous malformation or what can be referred to as a facial birthmark. This episode moved every single person who listened to it and injected us with perspective. Not only that – it delivered a more profound impact. It taught me and the listeners that we should be EMBRACING our differences and the stories behind them. Rory has been spearheading this narrative for years after he has come out of the other side of his battle with mental health. At the time of recording, Rory’s work had been featured on BBC Scotland, Channel 4, STV, Channel 5 and in newspapers across the country. Rory has been recognised as “Young Upstander of the Year” at the NO 2 H8 Crime awards in 2018. Since this episode, Rory has partnered with Youmanity and Dockland’s Light Railway on their “inner journey” initiative. I continually am so proud of my mate! I have started a new mini-series for you who don’t have time to catchup on full features and I am so excited to share with you. It’s called David’s Digest. They are short sharp digestible junks of wisdom by previous guests. There’s no better way to kick start it than with an appearance from episode 1 guest: Jen Gillies Pemberton. Jen is the Founder and CEO of ANTZ UK – a social change organisation. In this snippet – she shares her battle with the perceptions being a CEO AND neurodiverse. She was told by society, catalysed by her upbringing, that those terms cannot and should not go together. Well believe me – you’ll soon learn from Jen why they DO and SHOULD – and how being neurodiverse enhances her role! My guest this week is Ben Williams. Ben Williams is a Royal Marine Veteran and the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Loopin. You might have seen him on the famous The Diary of the CEO podcast with Steven Bartlett. From an early age Ben was subjected to a hostile family dynamic. He moved home six times and went to six different schools within ten years of his life. He looked to gain control by becoming a nightclub bouncer. One incident, involving the death of someone inside the club, found Ben falling into a world of drug abuse, gambling and addiction, balancing on the brink of life. Broke, with no home or anyone to turn to, he abused his addictions every day and battled suicidal tendencies. Ben saw an advert on YouTube for the Royal Marines and this is where it all changed. Ben opens up candidly about the recruitment and selection process which found pleasure in undertaking because it was the first time he felt real accountability and gratitude of opportunity. During his ten years with the Royal Marines – one of the most elite regiments in the world, Ben travelled the world, seeing active operational duties in Afghanistan. After being injured in an IED blast in Afghanistan, he returned to the UK with traumatic imprints. After being medically discharged, and a coaching career, he has now co-founded Loopin. Loopin is an employee engagement digital, connecting leaders with their teams and empowering people to reach their full potential through employees "looping in" every day on an app. In the whole podcast, we speak about: - Childhood - The desire to be an alpha male - An incident that changed my life forever - His turning point - joining the Royal Marines - How to find that purpose - What is ARA? - Medical Discharge - Understanding Veterans - Loopin and it's motivation Reach out to Ben: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ben-williams-vgs/ Get in touch with Loopin: https://letsloopin.com/ Reach out to me on: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/developmentbydavid/ LinkedIn: https://www.instagram.com/developmentbydavid/ The Development by David Podcast on: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6DV9tUfz5nGCmH0bfZUFrM Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-development-by-david-podcast/id1542740010 If you love this podcast: Fuel my podcast and buy me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/Dbyd

Ronan helps organisations understand the coming decade of disruption, and how they can move from burnout to resilience. His talks are rare in that they combine big picture trends with the science of resilience, and are packed with lots of psychological tools to manage stress, anxiety and burnout. Audiences leave with a surprising dose of optimism about the future and confidence in their ability to cope with increasing complexity. His expertise comes from having worked as a scenario planner to the British Foreign Office and strategic lead at RethinkX , the Think Tank analysing technological disruption and its impacts on society. He is also a Client Director at Tough Cookie , which help major companies to improve their mental resilience. In the past year, he has delivered inspiring keynotes to KPMG, McKinsey-Aberkyn, and INSEAD, giving senior leaders the insights they need to respond to this moment of chaos and uncertainty. His talks are inspiring because they come from my own lived experience of being in senior leadership positions. He speaks openly about the stress of being a decision maker in chaotic environments. This includes the severe burnout he faced after leading the political strategy for the global climate movement. Now more than ever, audiences need to understand how to cope with crisis and adversity, and having experienced his own dark night of the soul, he can speak honesty about how to use it as an invitation to grow as a leader. His speaking topics include: Resilience in the Decade of Disruption Challenges and Opportunities in a post-Covid World Technology and Emerging Trends Employee Engagement Mental Resilience Health and Well-Being If you love this podcast: Fuel my podcast and buy me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/Dbyd

Merry Christmas listeners and friends of The Development by David Podcast. We have a special episode of the show for you today. My mates Lewis McFarlane, Colin Campbell and I create our own rendition of the game show Room 101. Room 101 is a game show where "Room 101" is a hypothetical room where guests banish pet peeves and pet hates only if there is a democratic vote from other participants that they belong there. David McIntosh is the host of The Development by David Podcast. Colin Campbell is the host of the Cambro Conversations Podcast and fitness "influencer" on instagram under the alias of @col.cambro. Lewis McFarlane is an online holistic fitness coach and business owner. Although this is a light hearted episode of the podcast, we hit some big overarching topics surrounding mens mental health, personal responsibility, black and white thinking and insincere relationship building. But most importantly, it is packed with SILLY nonsense. We joke about ridiculous body building culture, egg and chips, indoor jacket wearers, google recapture and unsolicited hair removal..lol Hope you enjoyed this episode! A very special celebrity guest, Andy King, joined us on the Development by David Podcast. Andy King is a Netflix star and sustainable events planner. If you are one of the very few who missed the Fyre Festival documentary on Netflix, it was labelled as “the greatest party that never happened”. So much so, a whole documentary was filmed about its noteriety, social media dominance and ultimate collapse. The festival was promoted on Instagram by social media influencers including Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin and Emily Ratajkowski, many of whom did not initially disclose they had been paid to do so. During the Fyre Festival's inaugural weekend, the event experienced problems related to security, food, accommodation, medical services and artist relations, resulting in the festival being postponed indefinitely and eventually cancelled Andy’s notably known for one specific scene that broke the internet. The gripping scene exemplified the title of this podcast... stepping up as the ultimate team player. Andy can be regarded as a “meme” in pop culture but in fact Andy’s story is incredibly complex, intricate, emotive, astounding and varied. Imagine catering entire weddings at 16, inventing the role of a corporate concierge at Pepsi, being a young face in the Wall Street Journal, hosting a $2.5 million party for an investment bank, developing parties for The Rolling Stones and working alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo on sustainable initiatives. But, that being overshadowed by ONE LINE that was featured in a Netflix documentary. My friends, this is the tale of the REAL Andy King. A role model for sustainable change! Richard Davies is an entrepreneur and artist. He is known for Abandon Ship Apparel company and Abandon Ship bars. It was fantastic to be back recording in real life in a studio which allowed for the intimacy this podcast deserved. Abandon Ship Apparel was founded in 2011 in a bedroom in Glasgow with £300, a web domain and a passion for making art. Within 3 years, Abandon Ship Apparel saw itself in high street windows grossing over £1.2 million in annual sales revenue through channels such as ASOS, Topman and Foot Asylum. In 2015, Abandon Ship Apparel entered liquidation and Richard used his own money to buy back the rights to the brand he had spent almost 5 years growing from the ground up to rebuild. Fast forward 6 years, Richard, and a team he is proud of, have expanded the apparel brand beyond t-shirts. He has opened the Abandon Ship bars in Dundee and Glasgow which have become WILDLY popular especially for it's unmissable facade and insane artwork (I have visited weekly!). Abandon Ship in Covent Garden, London is opening in a month’s time as part of the plan to expand the bar across 10 locations in the UK. Richard speaks candidly about: - His upbringing and his rebellion against traditional education - A life changing moment that changed his mental model and direction - The highlights and lowlights of owning a rapidly growing apparel brand - Stories from travelling to tradeshows across the world (including closing a £10,000+ of apparel deal after partying all night) - The long-lasting effects of liquidation on the psyche of an entrepreneur - The inspiration and methodology behind the renowned Abandon Ship Bar ceiling artwork - His definition of healthy and toxic masculinity - His reflection on his first 35 years on earth that he defines as “his training years” Thanks, Rich, for stopping by and looking forward to round 2!

This weeks episode is my appearance on the University Challenged Podcast with Toni Kent. Here's what it this episode is about.. ---- Would you know what to say if you found yourself on a Zoom call with Her Majesty the Queen in your early 20s? David McIntosh did. As Scotland's first ever Management Consulting apprentice at KPMG, and the Co-Chair of the firm's UK Social Mobility network, David's life story so far makes for powerful listening. So much so, he was chosen to speak with Her Majesty as part of the firm's 150th anniversary celebrations. In our conversation, David explains how growing up in receipt of free school meals and with uniform and holidays provided by veteran's charities empowered him to 'flip his DNA' and embark on a quest to become an accountant. He also shares how the work of the Social Mobility Foundation opened up access to opportunities that may otherwise not have been visible or available to him and the impact this had in setting his trajectory towards management consulting aligned with public service. We talk poverty, using humour to deflect attention and how counting coppers as a child can be a clue to a future career. There's also lots to take away on the value of being unconventional and the power of having a North Star. --- Check out out the University, Challenged podcast here: https://open.spotify.com/show/2jF3Z2j5QcjWyArN0nU3cS?si=a9a3a1bb8c52432c

Jay is a heavyweight boxer who has won the Scottish Cruiserweight title and was the youngest boxer to fight at Madison Square Gardens. This podcast is the most explosive, intimate, and intense podcast I have ever listened to never mind recorded. And, we recorded in in real life in a studio! Jay opens about his Mum being caught up in a drug smuggling operation whilst on holiday which ultimately led to him, and his 6-year-old autistic brother being homed in a Caribbean orphanage. He speaks intimately about how this event, and growing up in a deprived area, has propelled his boxing journey which he navigates the “jay way”. Jay talks about what it was like fighting kids twice his age when he weighed almost 80kg at the age of 8. He opens about the career prospects of professional boxing and speaks transparently about the money in boxing. He speaks about his highlights which include dropping almost 35kg to make cruiserweight to win the Scottish Cruiserweight Title. He also speaks very candidly of his experience with suicidal tendencies, mental health, alcoholism. Thanks, Jay, for stopping by and being so open and candid. ----- Some of the stories told by Jay can be interpreted as sensitive and therefore viewer and listener discretion is advised. The stories and topics discussed do not reflect me or the opinions of my employer. ---- This podcast was edited and produced by Paul Shields @RebelCityPaul and was shot in the @RebelCityPodcast Studio.

Joe Foster is the retired founder of Reebok and author. I loved reading his new autobiography “Shoe Maker” (available now). A working-class story in its truest form. His grandpa invented the running spike in the 1800s under the business JW Foster and Sons. Joe unravels the entire Reebok story from leaving JW Foster and Sons and the ideation of the name Reebok to becoming the world’s largest sports brand topping almost $4 billion in revenue. Reebok now has Cardi B and Ariana Grande sporting the brand. Reebok recognised that sport became street. Joe, and Reebok, not only were shoe makers but were vehicles for female empowerment. Reebok’s FREESTYLE shoe was labelled as the first sneaker for women. A shoe made from glove leather that became the perfect shoe to support the aerobics craze. Joe tells all in retrospection at 86 years of age! He also shares his thoughts on apprenticeships, what entrepreneurs inspire him today and he gives some words of wisdom to set me on my way as a young 22 year old man. It was a privilege to have Joe on – thanks! Lewis McFarlane stops by (again)... You might remember Lewis McFarlane from episode number 2 of the podcast. Lewis is an online coach and a really close friend. So, I am super excited that he opened up to me on another podcast. This episode is a completely different speed and there is no host! Lewis and I share our 2021 realisations. We open up about how we have changed since we first came together on the podcast and why these changes in our mindset and lifestyle were critical for our wellbeing. There is really a stark contrast – arguably for the better. We speak about how we ultimately tied happiness to achievement during the initial stages of the pandemic. We spoke about why having what we deemed as a “bulletproof” mindset was detrimental to our mental health. Lewis talks about how he has lost followers due to being more authentic online. We speak about how vulnerability is our new superpower. Lewis also tells all about his relationships and most importantly his plans for pancake day. I also roadmap my entire genesis story and I detail the “why” behind The Development by David Podcast – including all my personal hardships. I hope you enjoy this one and we welcome any feedback! Rad dad and co-owner of Shred Skatepark stops by on the podcast. Our conversation maps a lifetime of chasing highs, hitting the red and being able to monetise the process. Craig and I speak about the education system and how it would look in our ideal world. We speak about how culture lag in extreme sports exists in Scotland too. Craig unloads “how to create a skatepark”. He details the overlooked nuances that create the backbone of a local activity haven and community hub. Owning a skatepark was Craig’s childhood dream but the fruition of the park became something deeper than that. The park became an outlet for adrenaline seekers, a parental method to control troublesome children and a rejuvenation vehicle for bmx/skateboarding in the west coast of Scotland. Craig’s mindset and outlook on continuous improvement inspired me – it made me want to live what I love. I hope it inspires you too. Thanks Craig for coming along! Jubemi is a Nigerian born, London raised, Ayrshire based and Glasgow living rapper and good friend – hes is also known as BEMZ. As rap culture has progressed in the U.K, have you wondered what it takes to enter and navigate the scene – especially in Scotland? Jubemi aka BEMZ speaks his biography for us to better understand it. Expect to learn: - That hardship was the pen Jubemi used to write lyrics – without his life hurdles the BEMZ tracks wouldn’t exist. - How to be unapologetically YOU and transcend this headspace into a creative outlet. - How BEMZ wishes unity and togetherness in the Glasgow rap scene - How Jude and BEMZ separate themselves on and off stage We also have an absolute piss take throughout and it was hands-down one of the funniest and most energised podcasts I have done.
