Are you ready to join the Dami Army! Our guest this episode is hands down one of the most talented performers Australia has. Dami Im is a pianist, singer, songwriter, author, teacher, wife, mother, Queensland girl and all-round good human. We first discovered her through the TV show X-Factor and she harnessed that win to build on her career and amongst other huge achievements like hit songs and albums, she represented Australia at Eurovision and came SECOND. Dami is amazing Mama Mentor for this episode for so many reasons. Dami moved to Australia from South Korea when she was just 9 years old. She didn’t speak English and had to start her life over. Dami chats to us about how scary it is to move countries right before you hit the teen years, the insecurities she felt, and tools she used to try and fit in when she clearly stood out. Hint. Music bridges all gaps! Later in the episode we dig deep to how uncomfortable fame feels like her, how she built her talent recording herself singing into her laptop, how working with record labels can compromise you as an artist, plus of course what performing in Eurovision in front of the world is really like. We will 'Move Over' and let you listen. If you want to find out more about Dami make sure you follow her on all her socials or find everything on her website www.damiim.com And if you like this episode, please subscribe, share with a friend or give us a review. Millie Manifested this episodes guest. We were at the launch of the new Blueys World in Brisbane and standing behind us was EMMA Wiggle! As Emma Memma stood behind us ready to go on stage Millie whispered, 'do you think I could ask her to be on the podcast when she is finished'.. We have a policy that the worst anyone can say is NO, and No isn't a bad word so never be afraid to ask anyone anything. So when Emma Memma finished her performance we lined up for a photo and asked her the question and here she is today For those that don’t know, although I suspect we barely need to do an introduction for. Emma Watkins aka Emma Memma, but Emma is now perhaps Australia's most famous and favorite children's entertainer, dancer, singer, author and television presenter. She is best known as the first female member of the children's group The Wiggles. Due to her popularity in the group, she starred in her own spinoff series as a solo Wiggles performer, titled Emma! . After departing the group, she debuted her own children's entertainment character, Emma Memma. She released her first solo children's music album in 2022 which received an ARIA Award for Best Children's Album in 2023 . She has also appeared in reality television shows like including The Masked Singer , The Amazing Race Australia and a Christmas special of Lego Masters Australia . She narrated the children's series Reef School , and hosted Teenage Boss: Next Level in 2024. And that's just some of her achievements. She is perfect to be a Move Over Mama mentor and we are so thrilled she said YES! If you want to find out more about Emma you can find all you need to know about her on her website. https://www.emmamemma.com And if you like this episode, please share with a friend or give us a review. Michael Buble joins us for our first episode of Season 4 of Move Over Mama. This season is shaping up to be a big one with some amazing people already recorded and ready to go. We can't believe who is saying yes to the pod-dress... or something like that. In this episode Michael Buble sings with Millie... ok so its from a few years ago, but we dug the audio up for a very good reason. Hear for the first time how a simple sign at a Michael Buble concert led to an interview with him, which is why we went to 3 concerts in a week holding up signs asking in person for those artists to come on our podcast. Billie Eilish, Drake and Kylie Minogue... will one of them be on Season 4 because of our signs? We can dream! If you like this episode, please SUBSCRIBE, share with a friend or give us a review. Our first inventor joins us on the Mama couch today and what is amazing about her is that she is a TEEN inventor. Annie Rogers is only 16 year-old and last year won the Gold Coast Women of the Year-Young Women category for her invention of a device that helps non-verbal people communicate. Inspired by her non-verbal best friend Matilda, Annie started "My Voice Communication" to help her maintain eye contact while she communicates via a device she wears as a necklace, "Ladybird Lane Designs" was created to support that business.. In this episode we discuss how Annie and Matilda became friends at primary school despite Matilda being unable to talk and how that friendship blossomed into an invention Annie created in class in high school to help Matilda maintain eye contact with her friends. Annie is inspiring and also needs more support to get the invention out into the world, so if you know someone who can help, please share this episode so we can help Matilda and many other. Joining us on the Move Over Mama Couch this episode is someone who is a nurse, performing artist, and social media phenomenon, Hamish Briggs – who goes by moniker "Nurse Hamish" on TikTok. He grew up in the country and was known as "the dancing kid from Kalgoorlie", embraced by the town for his talent and flamboyance. Traveling the world as a young adult performing from Perth to Paris and everything in between he thought his fate was written in stage lights when he went on to become a successful global influencer, but not for what you think. Covid sent most of the performing world into shut down and it was through this period that Hamish leapt from the stage as a professional dancer and actor to studying to become a registered nurse. One day he shared his new found life and passion on Tik Tok and became a true star. Now he is nailing life in health care and sharing the daily ups and downs (mostly ups) to an adoring social audience. Hamish and I first met performing in the musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert. He came over from Perth and was a standout performer, bringing pizazz but also heart to the cast, he was so much fun to work with. Vibrant, full of positivity, life and SO MUCH TALENT. I instantly found him intriguing because whilst he was a very talented performer, he was also studying to be a nurse, and he was loving it… like really REALLY loving nursing. He is so talented as a singer, dancer and actor that he could continue auditioning and performing around the world, but his heart is now in health and bringing joy to others while nursing and sharing the journey. He has grown his TIK TOK following encouraging others to get into nursing and sharing the joy of caring for others. So because we want to use this podcast as a way for teens to find themselves and what they want to do in life, I couldn’t think of anyone else more perfect to talk about what it’s like to be a nurse, and how you can use TIK TOK to inspire others. We hope you fall in love with Hamish as we have done. If you want to find out more about Nurse Hamish you can follow him at @HamishBriggs6 and TIK TOK as @NurseHamish This podcast is brought to you by our dentist, The Thirty Two Dental Studio, located here on the Gold Coast. We are in for a Totally Wild ride for this episode of Move Over Mama. Our Mama Mentor started his TV career on Big Brother 20 years ago in 2004 where he won our hearts as the blonde kind heartthrob and came 8th. When he got out of the house he scored a gig hosting Totally Wild, a show that sadly folded but was so popular with kids, it was all about wildlife and adventure and ran for years on our TV. But at the height of his hosting success he left the screen and Australia for New York City and began working behind the scenes. He now produces some of the biggest TV shows in the world, including The Floor, hosted by Rob Lowe, Australian Idol, Holey Moley and Crikey! It’s the Irwins. In this episode WES DENING gives anyone who wants to work in TV, both in front and behind the scenes, some insight into making TV, how to impress in Auditions, how to get on a set, and even spills the tea on all the famous people he's met and hung out with, including Travis Kelce. He is our second interview with a TAYLOR SWIFT link, we are getting closer Little Mamas, one day we really might get her on the podcast. A mother and daughter can dream right! If you want to see more of Wes, you can by watching Australian Idol, knowing he’s the guy putting it all together, next year on Channel 7 where the winner will receive a recording contract and $100k! Get comfy little Mamas and throw on your favorite Homebodii Pyjama's because the founder and creator of sleepwear brand HOMEBODII is snuggled on the Mama couch with us today. We are having a Pyjama party! This Christmas thousands of happy people around the world will be unwrapping a new set of Homebodii PJ’s possibly with their name embroided on the pocket, and they will be thrilled. Ingrid Bonner started her working career as a model for big brands like Calvin Klein, but at 30, she decided to switch it up and become the designer dressing the models. Now her business rivals Calvin Klein in global sales and it all started in her living room.. She created the brand in 2012 and since then has featured at New York Fashion Week, her luxe sleepwear is among the most 'pinned' in the world, she has won numerous awards, and opened stores all over the world. We are so impressed by Ingrid and what she has built but we are also are very thankful to her. She is such a cheer leader of women and girls and was one of the first supporters of Millie giving PJ’s to Millie and her social media besties Lilah and Madi to wear for their 'Sunday Night Live's' which led to this podcast. In this podcast you will learn the steps to create a global brand, where Ingrid finds inspiration for her designs, what kind of study Young Entrepreneurs should undertake, and more importantly maybe go and watch our podcast to see the cutest new Christmas drop she bought to record the podcast in. An absolute musical legend is joining us on the mama couch. A powerhouse vocalist, songwriter and lead singer of the iconic Australian band BACHELOR GIRL! I can’t remember the last password I created but I can remember all the words to her hit song Busses and Trains. For 2 decades that song has been an anthem for teen girls, the lyrics still hold strong today. She is also our first Aria award winning artist on the mama couch. Your Mum's love her and you will too after listening to this episode. (PS Go find the song and pop it in your Spotify list) Tania wasn’t just a star in the 90’s and 00's. She's now a sought after song writer and written for people like Samantha Jade, Delta Goodrem, Taylor Dane, The Veronicas, Sheppard and Jess Mauboy. She moved away from Australia to live in Sweden for a long time, had a son, then Covid hit so she came home. Now back in Australia and on our stages trailblazing all female festivals and soon celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Buses and Trains. Tania Doko's story may help any future song writers or singers listening in as she shares how she writes, what inspires her, how music video clips are made and we also chat about our thoughts on the upcoming social media ban for teens. (hint-we are not happy) If you love Tania Doko and want to know more about her you can follow her @Taniadoko on Instagram for all her new music and future concert dates. If you have ever dreamed of working in TV, or in front of a camera, our next Mama Mentor got her start in a reality TV show called the MOLE. A show which kick-started her TV career. She competed against 12 other contestants and despite being the youngest, won. It was one of the first reality shows on TV, that led her to a long career on our screens. But TV star Liz Cantor first made waves in Australia as a competitive surfer. Sponsored by Billabong, her surfing career took her all over the world to compete. In 2003 she was also the first female Surf Judge to travel internationally on the World Surf League. Since then there is nothing Liz Cantor hasn’t had a crack at, with nearly 20 years experience in live television. From making peoples dreams come true being Lotto Liz hosting the Powerball, 7News Gold Coast Weather, Creek to Coast and Weekender and in 2016 she gained the title 2 x Reality TV Show winner! After winning another reality show. 'Living Stone – Botswana' was screened internationally and saw Liz and husband Ryan represent Australia, surviving starvation and the wilderness of Africa, against couples from England, New Zealand, America, South Africa and The Middle East. Shes also been in BLUEY! As ‘Weather Presenting Pup’ and movies as well, one of my favorites ‘Getting Squared”, the sequel Spit comes out next year. More recently Liz swapped TV stations to join Channel 10 presenting weather weeknights and she may be the first woman in Australia to appear on two networks at the same time, still staying with her 7 show Weekender. That is the power of just asking. Liz gives everything a go and loves adventure, there is so much to learn from Liz. You can find Liz weeknights on Channel 10 News 5pm, or on her socials @lizcantor This episode is brought to you by Vee Organics! Little Mamas, todays mentor we want to talk some sense into you.. no more baking yourself in the sun and getting a tan, it’s something we've noticed creeping back into popular culture amongst you and it's concerning. It is National Skin Cancer Action Week, and we need you to take action, you owe it to your beautiful selves and skin. Skin cancer is real and it sucks, the choices you make now will come back and bite you… in fact you will look like you have been bitten when you have scars from cutting out cancer.. it’s a sun bite, which started as sun burn, you will be heart broken when parts of your beautiful body is being sliced away to save your life. To talk more about what that feels like we invited entrepreneur Courtney Mangan to sit with us on the Mama couch to talk about the fight of her life. She is living with Melanoma and the fight is real. She was diagnosed with Melanoma at only 29 and now shares her journey online in the hope it saves lives. She is a powerhouse with so much to live for. The co-owner of a hugely successful branding company Spin and Co, Creative Director of James Cosmetics and an influential content creator sharing the ups and downs of fighting for her life while juggling all her exciting career dreams. If you don't already know Courtney you will fall in love with her and more importantly her story will inspire you to make SPF your BFF. This could be the most important 45 minute listen of your life. Returning to the 'Move Over Mama' couch is Money Expert Sarah Megginson, this time with a very personal story to share. We met Sarah Megginson last season to talk about money because her day job is the money expert for Finder.com. After gifting us with one of our most popular podcasts to date (because who doesn't want to start making money young) Sarah rejoins us with her close friend Lisa Messenger and the baby boy they created together. Sarah was recently Lisa's surrogate, which means she carried Lisa's baby because Lisa couldn't carry her own. A bit about Lisa: She is a girl boss, a highly respected publishing professional with 40 books under her belt, and a star in the entrepreneurial space. Privately, Lisa struggled with the one thing she could not achieve through hard work and a positive attitude. She had almost given up on having a child when Sarah came to her with an extraordinary offer. To carry her baby. After spending nearly half a million dollars trying and many methods both medical and alternate, Lisa and Sarahs friendship was the magic baby dust needed to create a miracle. Millie and I are no stranger the IVF journey. It took 6 years to have Millies’s brother Teddy. Millie became used to Doctors visits and sitting in waiting rooms during follicle counts and transfers. In fact Millies initial birds and bees talk was that a Doctor was helping her have a sibling and that’s what she thought happened for all families. She’s older now and of course understands the miracle of life, and we watched with awe Sarah and Lisa's journey together making Hugo as close friends. We think it’s a story perfect for Move Over Mama because our little Mamas need to know all the journeys people explore to have a family and to celebrate that we live in an age where families can be made in many different ways. This podcast covers who Lisa and Sarah were as teens, what led to needing the offer of Surrogacy, what the Surrogacy journey is like, and some of the complicated notions like what Leo will call Sarah, what Sarah's kids call Leo, and what will they tell Leo about his creation and birth. We hope this podcast episode both educates and more importantly gives hope to those on a similar journey. Please share with anyone you know who needs to hear this story. If you want to find out more about Sarah and Lisa their book "The Power of TWO" its out now. https://www.booktopia.com.au/the-power-of-two-lisa-messenger/ebook/9781763516465.html They are on socials Sarah @sarahmegginsonmoney Lisa @lisamessaneger @collectivehub @collective_retreat and a shared one @mummyatlast This episode is brought to you by Vee Organics! Wicked Mania is about to hit the world. Prepare to see Pink and Green EVERYWHERE and we are all about it. But before there was the movie with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, let's not forget there was the MUSICAL! We love musicals in our family, like L.O.V.E them. We love going to them at the theatre, watching them as movies, quoting them, singing songs from them in the car, around the house or out shopping (sorry Coles), and we have even performed in them. Our combined family musical count is Annie, Oliver, Wizard of Oz, Mamamia, Pricilla Queen of the Dessert, Aladdin and Billy Elliot… so it's safe to say we lost our minds over Courtney Monsma agreeing to join us on the Mama couch. She is Australian Theatre ROYALTY! We are such HUGE fans of this talented Gold Coast girl who is now quite simply the best thing in Australian theatre. She is currently touring the county as Glinda the Good Witch in WICKED and before that the list is endless. Ana in Frozen, Sophie in Mamamia, Princess Jasmin in Aladdin, Catherine Howard in Six and she's also in the hit TV show Paper Dolls. We think Courtney is just 'Thrillifying' on and off stage and after listening to our chat we think you will feel the same. While we start the chat with all things WICKED, we move onto talking about her stage anxiety, how she overcame her self sabotage, and how her methods could help you. A filmmaker, politician, environmentalist, pro-surfer, mental health advocate, podcaster and businessman join us on the Mama Couch to help us with our environmental anxiety. Sounds like a huge team of people sitting on the couch with us huh! But in fact it is just two amazing 20 something-year-old guys, and the above is only SOME of what is on their resumes. So let's start with Kal Glanznig. From fundraising to get solar for his high school as a teen, to being the youngest elected councillor to the Sutherland Shire Council, Kal has won Young Citizen of the Year in 2020 and Environmental Citizen of the Year and is an impressive young leader who has represented Australia at the UN Climate Conference as a delegate and speaker. He recently made a film called Rising UP which is out in November. Cooper Chapman is an Ex Pro Surfer (Top 100 in the world) who now has his own podcast called the The Good Humans Podcast and he is the founder of The Good Human Factory which is an organisation and movement to connect people with simple tools to improve their wellbeing and thrive in life. His workshops have reached over 35,000 students and 10,000 corporate participants since 2020. Together with Surfers for Climate Change (https://surfersforclimate.org.au/) they have teamed up to deal with the environmental anxiety young Australians feel today. Over three quarters of young Australians aged 16-25yrs are concerned about climate change, but feel powerless, aren't taking action, have a negative future outlook and it's having an impact on their mental health. In simple terms the concern they have is that the issue is too big to fathom and overcome, and yet both Kal and Cooper assure us in this podcast that it's the little things we can all do daily that really matter and will help clean up our beautiful world. Today is world mental health day, so in honor of that, listen in to find out how just picking up 3 items of rubbish a day, and practicing gratitude while cleaning your teeth can greatly impact both the environment and your mental health. We are taking todays podcast on the road! We packed up the studio and joined the circus with the amazing opportunity to watch, get a backstage tour, and spend some time with the cast of LUZIA; the new Cirque Du Soleil show touring Australia. Luzia feels like Mardi Gras! From the minute you walk in, bright costumes and colours greet you with tricks and feats that transport you to another time. With a breathtaking Waterfall that opens from the ceiling and disappears into the stage making magical watery shapes as they fall, there is not a part of you that isn't mesmerised by LUZIA. But it’s the humans that are just extraordinary, the strength and fitness of these incredibly talented humans will blow your mind. You wonder why we ever thought animals at the circus was a great idea because humans and what we can do without our bodies, some hoops, ropes, a swing and an enormous treadmill is phenomenal. My favorite part was watching Millies face. She’d never seen a Cirque and a few minutes after starting she looked at me and said ‘WHAT IS THIS!” in utter wonder. Which leads us to todays Mama Mentor. It is one of the phenomenal Hoop Divers in the show, and we fell a little in love. His name is Melvin Diggs. He is the perfect Mama Mentor because as you will hear he almost didn’t have this extraordinary life touring the world and delighting audiences with his amazing hoop feats. He was expelled from school, hanging with the wrong friends, and could have ended up in jail! But at 15 years old, he was offered a lifeline and with the help from angels along the way he turned his life around and joined the most successful circus in the world. A little warning that we recorded this under the Big Top, so there is some background noise. Just a few planes landing at the Brisbane airport, we hope everyone had a great flight. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a fashion designer and have a brand that sells all over the country and the world? Our mentor today is Sonia Stradiotto who is celebrating 35 years of being a fashion designer. She has dressed some of Australia’s most influential people, thrown the biggest fashion shows in the country and her style is pure glam.. sequins and sparkles, just like her personality. But it has not been easy. Starting with a hole in the wall shop, sewing everything herself, this designer had no free pass and built her empire on her own, then the pandemic hit and no-one had anywhere to go to wear her designs. This didn't deter her, she pivoted and started an at home fashion revolution and inspired everyone to take the rubbish out in a ball gown, she was one of the few that came out the other side of the pandemic stronger than before With a book and documentary coming out soon be inspired by Sonia's story of starting small to building a lasting legacy. You can find Sonia's designs here https://soniastradiotto.com.au/ and follow her on all socials @soniastradiottocouture This Podcast is brought to you by Magnus Health: Magnus Health is a company that provides person-centred therapeutic, positive behaviour support and disability care services across Brisbane and Southeast Queensland within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Our mentor today made something so epically cool happen for herself just by taking a chance and there is so much to learn from her moment. She is a professional Busker, and busks all over the country making a decent living out of it. Last week she decided to busk in Brisbanes Queen Street mall on the day Teddy Swims was performing at the Riverstage. She performed a few of his songs over and over and live streamed it on Tik Tok in the hope he would see it, or be in the area and see her and be compelled to watch her and even perform with her.. Guess What it WORKED and now she has been on every radio station, TV station, socially blown up and now Performed on stage with him! Now INOXIA is with us, we can almost smell Teddy Swims hugs on her!! Lets Move Over to learn from INOXIA about how to manifest and hustle, how to earn a living through busking, and what Teddy Swims is really like.. If you want to find out more about Inoxia you can follow her on her socials @Inoxiasounds look for the Blue Tick and see her perform there or find out where she will perform through her live streams. 16 years old and already her parents Boss! Meet Glitter Girl, aka Sophia Rizzo a Young Entrepreneur who started selling Glitter in the classroom at age 9 and now at 16 has a business with over 200 items in stock and ships globally. Big things are coming for Glitter Girl as a brand and we are so excited for what you can learn from todays podcast. Something Millie has touched on a few times in this podcast is how she has always been a little entrepreneur herself, selling lemons, lemonade, or pompoms out the front of our house. When that wasn't enough she started a little insta biz called Crystals for Kids, she is always hustling and thinking of ways to make money. I’ve never stopped her because I love her hustle, and also every cent she earns is money I don’t have to earn to spend on her! Todays mentor is a little similar but way ahead of the game. When Sophia decided to dress colourfully for school she had a “little idea” to bring pots of glitter to her school and charged her classmates $2 for the craft glitter which she ordered online. Despite getting in trouble at school, she pivoted and started to sell at markets and online, that business is now called Glitter Girl and making enough that both Sophia’s parents quit their jobs so they could work full-time FOR HER. She has now won awards including Gold Coast Bulletin's Young Woman of the Year awards, Business awards and many more. We thought our listeners would love to hear how such a young person can start a business and be so successful she is now supporting her own family. We know many of you have similar dreams, so settle in and learn how you can start your own business from Move Over Mamas youngest mentor yet! If you want to find out more about Glitter Girl you can follow her on her socials @Glittergirl.au or shop her products online at www.glittergirl.com.au We wish Sophia the best of luck and can't wait for her next big announcement, it's coming soon. Poppy Jim died when Gerard was only 19 years old and we think about him every day and it's been 20 years. Cancer is a long hard journey for everyone, but imagine being the person who has the cancer. What do you do? What do you need from your friends and family and how do you try to stay positive when its really very scary? Our next mentor has walked that walk and got the worst news of her life, stage 4 Lymphoma and she was only 31. Cancer is rated in stages, and Stage 4 is as bad as you can get, but she lived, and then created a video that went viral called ‘You only get one life” it inspired so many to get out there and live the best life possible, her viral video then led to a book called 'Life is Tough but so are You'… and now she travels the country reminding people of what they are capable of and also making them laugh. We are so excited for you to meet and be mentored by Briony Benjamin! Find out why worrying is like a rocking chair, what cancer feels like, and learn how to think about illness periods in your life. Listening to Briony you will never be the same again, you will wake up every morning feeling blessed you are well. So get out there and live your best life, ways to do that are to subscribe to this podcast, and share.. we promise just listening to all the mentors will make your life better than yesterday! Our next guest in the Move Over Mama podcast is an Olympic Champion, a Dancing Star, and Sports News Reader and our first OAM. Sally Pearson. When she was only 14 she started to get noticed by the country for her Athletic ability winning the Australian Youth 100m Hurdles. From there went on to become one of Australia’s most successful female athletic Olympic champions winning a Gold Medal in London, breaking records in the win, a Silver in Bejing, 3 Commonwealth Games Medals and many other world championships. More recently she swapped running shoes for dancing heels for Dancing with the Stars on Channel 7 and now reads the Sports News for Gold Coast News. There is so much to learn from Sally Pearson. Firstly how hard it is to train your whole life, only to have all that training focused into just 12 seconds of time, and how to reinvent yourself when one career ends and its time to start another one… Raised by a single mum who worked two jobs to fund her dreams, Sally's love of winning, learning new things, and saying YES paid off and she is living her best life. Our favorite part of this interview was hearing when she was able to tell her Mum she didn't need to work two jobs anymore when she finally got a sponsor. With twists and turns along the way, because no journey is ever easy, Sally answers all Millies questions and imparts her wisdom on the next generation. A must listen. 12 months ago at a charity event, the Baby Give Back Mothers Day High Tea, Millie and I met our next guest who inspired this whole podcast. An Australian Champion Iron Woman who had just paddled around Australia in a Kayak. It took 254 days, 12,700km and during that time she dodged huge waves, storms, sharks, crocodiles, tested her physical and mental health and broke many world records. Talk about Girl Power! A few months later here she was in a pretty dress graciously chatting by an old telephone booth covered in flowers to the only 11 year old in the room. That 11 year old asked her a question she had never been asked before and it was ‘Bonnie Hancock ‘who turned to me and said something along the lines of “ she is an amazing interviewer, she has asked me the best questions!”. It was that moment the seed of Move Over Mama was born.. So Bonnie Hancock thankyou. And what was that question? I'll move over and Millie can ask her again.... Find Bonnie on all socials at @bonniehandcock look for the blue tick her Book is called 'The Girl Who Touched the Stars' and her movie you can catch on Kayo is called 'Diamond of the Sea' This podcast is proudly sponsored by MouldMen Got Mould? We come out fighting for the first interview episode of Move Over Mama. In this edition I re-introduce Millie to Rowdy Bec Rawlings for her first ever interview. Bec is an Australian mixed martial artist and bare knuckle boxing champion who just released a movie called 'Fight to Live' in cinemas now. A compelling movie not just about her rise to fame in the fighting world, but also her fight to escape domestic violence. An important film highlighting it can happen to anyone, including an elite athlete trained to win in the ring. I first met Bec as a little girl at her fathers wedding in Launceston. I wish I remembered, but it was over 20 years ago. We only put the jigsaw together after re meeting on her movie promo tour. Hilariously it must be true that anyone who has ever lived in Tasmania will find a friendship link somewhere somehow. Watching the movie with Millie I knew Bec would be a perfect guest for our mentoring journey. Mentors are not perfect people with perfectly lived lives. They are people who have lived real lives and lived to tell the tale. We thank Bec for being our first perfectly, imperfect guest.
