I'm spotlighting the controversial issue of book banning in K-12 education, discussing the recent ban of over 300 picture books during the 2021-2022 school year. I delve into the implications of these book bans, despite 70% of parents opposing such bans. I ponder over the influence of politicians in the education process and the role they play in these bans.

But it's not just about the bans; it's about the resistance too. As a beacon of hope, I highlight the inspiring student-led opposition against these bans across the country. With a focus on the ongoing lawsuit by a coalition inclusive of authors, a publisher, parents, and a free speech group against a Florida school district for restricting access to more than 100 books, I discuss the power dynamics in play. Amidst these tensions, I also touch upon the increasing incidences of school threats and the FBI's approach toward these false claims of violence.
