Got to sit down with Scott Volquartsen of Volquartsen Firearms! I met Scott a few years ago at WinterStrong 3 put on by Sorinex Outdoors. Scott and his company provide all the firearm for the shooting events at WinterStrong. Scott is a husband, father, and incredible businessman in an industry that is growing ever more polarizing. We got into quite a few topics on this episode and I really enjoyed just hearing more of his story and how they run things at Volquartsen Firearms. Hope you guys enjoy it. I did!

In this episode I sit down with the Madman himself, Kurt Hester. Kurt is the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Tulane Football. The Green Wave is coming off of a historic turnaround. In 2021, Tulane posted a 2-10 record. Coach Hester was hired in the off-season and helped to change the culture in the locker room. That change resulted in a 12-2 record in 2022 capped off by a New Year's Six birth in the Cotton Bowl where Tulane beat the heralded USC Trojans and their Heisman Trophy winning QB, Caleb Williams. Trailing in the fourth quarter, Tulane scored 16 points in the final four minutes of play. Even more impressive, ESPN's prediction metrics gave the USC Trojans a 98.7 percent chance to win the game with 31 seconds left. The Tulane Green Wave would go on to score the winning touchdown with seconds left to play. Coach Hester details the mentality that they have pushed for the players to adapt: NEXT REP. We also get into a little of his background and how he honed his personal process and style of coaching from some great mentors and overcoming some of his own mental struggles. Kurt is a phenomenal guest and a fantastic story teller, especially the one where he released a live alligator into a weight room full of athletes on squat max day! Kurt is one of a kind and a legend in the field of Strength and Conditioning. If you want to hear more of Kurt's amazing stories (and there are A LOT of them), he wrote a book entitled Rants of a Strength and Conditioning Madman that is available for purchase on amazon! Hope you guys enjoy this one. I sure did!

In this episode, I sit down with Jonathan West. Jonathan is a husband, father, entrepreneur, and host of the Being Husband Podcast. He started his podcast with the intention of helping men become the husbands and fathers that they were called to be! Through that process and growth of his own, he began working on his "side hustle" during the shut downs during the Covid pandemic. In 2020, he left a comfortable job in higher education to start his own business, The Suburban Farm Guy. Jonathan and his team come in and help families that want to grow their own food. They handle the build outs and all the prep for suburban gardens that are helping families in the greater Nashville area to become more self-sufficient and rely less on mass produced food sources. They train their clients on how to maintain and grow the garden. They also provide regular maintenance and support throughout the year. Jonathan is an exceptional guest and we will definitely be having him back on for a part 2 very soon. You can find him on Instagram at both @beinghusbandpod and @suburbanfarmguy Go check him out and support! As always, appreciate you guys listening! Ross is the man behind Nomad Strength and the Nomad Strength Show. We get into some awesome topics in this episode, but most of the time is spent discussing goal setting, the language we use to write those goals, and how to accomplish goals once they are set. In this episode I sit down with one of my favorite humans on the planet, Laura Zerra. Laura is many things: a knife maker, an author, a backcountry explorer, a survivalist, and so much more. She has been on Naked and Afraid and hosts a show on CarbonTV called DECIVILIZED. She has the distinction of surviving more days in the wild on camera than any other female on Earth! We get into all sorts of things in this episode and yet I feel like we barely scratched the surface. One of the biggest takeaways from this episode for me was hearing some of Laura's story and the importance of not only knowing who you are, but staying true to who you are. I will definitely be having Laura back on for a second episode sometime in the future. Hope you enjoy this episode and you can find more about Laura at the links below! https://www.instagram.com/laurazerra/ https://www.carbontv.com/shows/decivilized/ --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/taylor-quick2/support

In this episode, I am joined by Coach Cory Bell. Cory is a strength coach at New Mexico Military Institute. I came across Cory via a mutual friend sharing some of his social media content.
