“Of course it's happening inside your head Harry. Why should that mean that it's not real?” — J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Welcome to another My Why from Claire Sandys (co-host of The Silent Why). My Why episodes are weekly audio shorts of my latest blog post. If you'd prefer to read it, instead of listen, you can visit: thesilentwhy.com/post/lostinside
This week I’m talking about how it feels to lose a sense of who you are inside - whether due to a medical condition, grief, loss or anxiety.
A few years ago I was diagnosed with PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder), a hormone condition which took away my clear mind and sense of self for months (into years) leaving me riddled with anxiety, a general sense of blue-ness and a whole heap of antsy! In this episode I share an analogy I came up with to help others understand what it feels like to feel lost inside you're own body. And I also offer my top tips for survival.
