J.T. Brooksby is ranked #149 in the world on the ATP Tour (Association of Tennis Professionals). And check this out. He is from Sacramento and he is just 20 years old. He just recently played at the French Open. He stands 6'4 and is ready to take his career to another level. I know that you are going to be very impressed with J.T. the individual. This conversation was a lot of fun and a great way to come off a vacation to kick off the summer of 2021.

In today's episode of Experience the Buzz, Host Steve Buzzard talks shop with Derik"The J.T. today was the same kid I remember from his days of rocking his headband at Buzzardball Basketball Camp when he attended 1st-4th Grade. What impressed me the most is his maturity that is well beyond his years." Our conversation hits THREE areas:

Segment ONE 💥 kicks off with J.T. explaining his journey as a tennis player. He discusses playing at the U.S. Open (in 2018 + 2019) and the French Open (2021). Brooksby lets us into his daily schedule and speaks about playing multiple sports as a kid.
Segment TWO 💥 is a fire squad of TENNIS questions I have always wanted to ask a professional player. J.T. talks about picking up the racket for the first time (at FOUR years old), the switch to becoming serious about the sport, homeschooling, and burnout. J.T. talks about his 'will to win' mentality, his parent's support, and his best moment as a tennis player thusfar.
Segment THREE 💥 gets into Brooksby's future as a professional on the ATP Tour. He shares with us the financial aspects of being a pro that includes having an agent and sponsorships. We finish off with Rapid Fire and some final Tennis questions that includes his thoughts on the Big Three (Federer, Nadal, + Djokovic).

Here are my favorite HIGHLIGHTS ...
▪️1. Overall, I was just in awe of J.T.'s maturity for a 20-year old. I can't imagine trying to be a professional in any sport at that age. You can easily tell that he is committed to his sport.
▪️2. Just talking tennis with a professional player was pretty exciting. J.T. was great and was able to answer all the questions that I brought his way.
▪️3. I just feel it ... J.T. is going to be a star in this sport. You can tell by talking to him that he has the vision to do BIG THINGS on the ATP Tour. Look forward to supporting him throughout his journey.

Our Connection | J.T. attended Buzzardball Basketball camp during the late 2000's when he was a young kid. He stood out for two reasons. He had a fiery and competitive spirit. And he always rocked the headband! Check out the profile photo
