SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 11TH, 2021 marks the 20th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that changed America on September 11th, 2001. We ALL remember where we were. In today's episode, ETB showcases three stories.

1. LESLIE MORRIS - On the morning of 9/11, Leslie was giving a presentation with 30 colleagues on the 30th floor of the South Tower. It was supposed to be an in-and-out trip.

2. ROBERT LAMBERT - The harrowing experience of 9/11 took a twist for Robert. Lambert, who was 400 yards away from the Twin Towers when the two planes hit and came down, had just met Raelen a week earlier. The disaster of 9/11 turned into a love story that resulted in the couple getting married and starting a family in Sacramento.

3. CHRIS SCHENK - The reason for this podcast. Chris called me a week or so ago and asked if I would like to be a part of a community event that would honor 9/11 and in particular Flight 175 (that crashed into the South Tower). The conversation expanded.

SEGMENT ONE 🇺🇸 is the story of Leslie Morris.
SEGMENT TWO 🇺🇸 is the story of Robert Lambert.
SEGMENT THREE 🇺🇸 highlights the 20th Anniversary Memorial Tribute to 9/11 to honor those we lost, Captain Victor Saracini of Flight 175 (local ties to Carmichael), and to celebrate our first responders.

Here are today's HIGHLIGHTS ...
▪️1. The stories. This opened my eyes to how many untold stories there are surrounding 9/11. I was happy to be able to share at least two of them.
▪️2. Education. Can't say it enough. Our kids should be educated on this event. It's not pretty, but it's important. It shaped our country.
▪️3. The importance of pausing. Too many of us (including myself) gloss over events like this. We do it with holidays as well. The good news is that we can change that starting today. I know I will.

Leslie Morris - Thank you, Susan Swenson. I put out a Facebook Post looking for guests who were in New York City when the Twin Towers were hit. Susan connected us!

Robert Lambert - Thank you, Mike Gutterman. Same thing. Connected us. Robert's two boys, Max and Lucas, both attended St. Michael's Episcopal Day School.

Chris Schenk - We know each other through Buzzardball. His two boys, Kyle and Trey, have participated in my Buzzardball Basketball 🏀 program.
