ROSS HAMMOND is an ultra-talented musician. He is quite accomplished. Since 2003, Hammond has been putting out records either as a solo artist or part of a project. I counted 17. That my friends is impressive. He has done tours, but the music lifestyle of Hammond isn't anything like you might envision. It's clear that Ross did it his way. Might be the recipe for a young musician out there listening.

In today's episode of Experience the Buzz, Host Steve Buzzard catches up with Hammond "Ross and I are friends through basketball, but I never have had the chance to know his story until today. His take on music and the life he has been able to live through it is fascinating." Our conversation hits three areas:

SEGMENT 1 🪕 kicks off with Hammond's childhood in Kentucky that eventually led to his move to California with his mom (a la Karate Kid). Ross talks about getting his first guitar and how his love for music slowly grew throughout his teenage years.
SEGMENT 2 🪕 Hammond shares with us the part of his journey where he started producing albums (He's up to 17 now!). Ross shares great insight on the improvisation of jazz music and how it is unique. We get a glimpse of life on the road and what that looks like for a jazz musician (not like Motley Crüe's World Tour 1995). Ross finishes off the segment by discussing Covid collaborations with other artists.
SEGMENT 3 🪕 starts with Gold Lion Arts, a place where Ross escapes to when he wants to work on his music. It's also a place where he gets to teach others how to play an instrument. Hammond shares his joy of coaching in basketball with his daughter Lola ... And we finish off with Rapid Fire 💥.

Our Connection | I met Ross when his daughter Lola attended my basketball camp when she was in Kindergarten (she is now in 6th Grade). I have watched Lola grow up through the game and have enjoyed seeing Ross being able to coach his daughter.
