The podcast of David Eagle, Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian Of The Year and member of three-time BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Winning group The Young'uns.

The David Eagle Podcast returns with a bumper bunker-based Herbal Tea Of The Week, as we visit a tea house in Slovakia, situated in a bomb shelter. Six teas from six different countries go to war, but which one will be triumphant. Plus we talk about various recent stand up comedy gigs, including playing to a room of screaming, crying babies, performing for the military, and a surprisingly harrowing experience in Coleshill, Birmingham. And we conclude matters with a lovely little Slovakian soundscape. Enjoy, and we promise to be back a lot sooner than twenty-seven months.
Thu, December 22, 2022
Last weekend The Young'uns did a very mini Christmas tour and here is a compilation of clips from those gigs, in a podcast hilariously titled Merry Gigsmas.
Thu, October 06, 2022
We weren't planning on playing clips from our wedding on the podcast, primarily because we thought it would be boring for you: "I do" "I Will" "to have and to hold" etc etc. But then the wedding turned out to be a bit more exciting than anticipated. Listen to find out why.
Thu, September 15, 2022
We head back thirty years to my eighth birthday in Cassette Roulette; we learn about a mad Victorian scientist's experiments with monkey testicles in Ellie Skinner's Weekly Animal Penis fact; and we visit Biscuit And brew Tea House in Nottingham for Herbal Tea Of The week. Plus I reveal the Fine Young Cannibals' dirty little secret, we hear of a highly unusual fetish and I collaborate with two twelve-year-old girls to create a death metal song.
Mon, August 29, 2022
We're joined by our good friend, the velvet voiced author and raconteur Matthew Crampton. He hosts our first animal penis fact quiz, live from Folk East Festival in Suffolk. He also accompanies us on our London tea based adventure for a multifaceted Herbal Tea Of The Week. Plus there's a very weird Spammer time courtesy of eliza carthy and yet another harrowing journey story.
Thu, August 18, 2022
This week's The David Eagle Podcast is all over the place, in both senses of the phrase. I return from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival having met some interesting characters including a chatty undertaker and a teenager in the woods with a rather confusing proposition. I have a near-death experience in Loughborough, cause chaos in a swimming pool in Sheffield, and Herbal Tea Of The week comes live from Tea Sutra Teahouse in Newcastle. IN Cassette Roulette we meet Mr Pie, and Ellie learns some harsh home truths in our feature spammer time.
Fri, August 12, 2022
This week we celebrate the life of one of my musical comedy heroes, Grant Baynham, who passed away on July 29th. Here you can spend forty minutes in his company as he regales us with songs, stories and silliness, plus he even takes part in everyone's favourite feature, Herbal Tea Of The week.
Fri, August 05, 2022
We're back in the studio with the return of regular features. Spammer time, where we meet a rather flirtatious IT teacher; Cassette Roulette provides us with some very weird and intriguing 90s radio clips, and Ellie Skinner's Weekly Animal Penis Fact turns its attention on the fox. Plus, another harrowing journey story, I become a role model for kids and we discover my unusual stage walk-on ritual.
Thu, July 28, 2022
Come with me on a comedy road trip as I travel From Hull down to Brighton, performing comedy to pensioners, students and even a room full of babies. Step this way for jokes, anecdotes, an array of highly unusual heckles, plus a collection of colourful characters including a very keen doorman, an unscrupulous cemetery officer, a B&B owner with a penchant for pranks, and of course Jimmy the pornographic audiobook recording fetish club blues singer of birmingham.
Sat, January 01, 2022
Happy new year. Here's part 2 of our podcast that features some highlights from 2021. Two animal themed quizzes starring folk musician Alex Cumming and comedian Paul Silky White; my dance hit inspired by an angry Australian bloke shouting about his penis; the story of my first foray into stand up comedy at the age of five; and a very weird radio show from my fourteen-year-old self. Feel free to chuck some pennies into our podcast PayPal pot at davideagle.co.uk
Fri, December 31, 2021
A selection of podcast highlights from 2021. Spot popping, Princess Margaret erotica, Phil Nichol plays an adult quiz "courtesy" of our anti-social neighbours; there's an epic, surreal military-based drama, weird Christian music, and more. Part 2 is released New Year's Day. Feel free to chuck some pennies into our Podcast PayPal pot at davideagle.co.uk Happy new year.
Sat, December 18, 2021
It's our Christmas podcast, featuring a Christmas Miracle courtesy of a seasonal Spammer Time, some ramshackle Christmas rapping, a Christmas quiz (with a special guest), A Christmassy cassette Roulette, Christmas animal Penis facts, a festive Herbal Tea Of The week, and lots more.
Thu, December 02, 2021
It's quite a quiz-heavy podcast this week. Test your 90s music knowledge, are you more intelligent than the average listener to a late night Teesside radio quiz show? And can you deduce the film that I am recreating with my incredible acting skills? Other questions included in this week's podcast: why is there a Norwegian architect in my bed? Are there any teenagers called Nigel? And have you ever made love in a swimming pool? There's more genital talk courtesy of Ellie Skinner's Weekly Animal Penis Fact and a rather strange genital-based Spammer Time.
Thu, November 18, 2021
Nowadays David Eagle is a respected and indeed revered songwriter, with such classic hits to his name as Killing My Dog for Satan and What A C**t. This week we get an insight into his songwriting genius as we listen into the process of his fifteen year old self creating a new song from scratch. This is a must-listen for budding songwriters, or even established songwriters looking to up their game. Plus of course there's more animal penis facts (as is our duty) , a disturbing spam email and Ellie tries her hand at gangster rap.
Thu, November 04, 2021
David has an awkward pistachio nut based incident with comedian Tom wrigglesworth. We receive a video from a listener featuring some rather odd night-time noises which may or may not be inspired by my anecdote on last week's podcast about the time I accidentally made a sex tape. Plus more odd spam emails and a new exciting feature with a new exciting jingle.
Sun, October 24, 2021
Join me in the kitchen for two tales of tube-based altercation, and the story of that time I made an accidental sex tape.
Thu, September 30, 2021
Featuring Boney M news, a very moving tribute to John Challis. A triplet of teas culminates our Herbal Tea Of The Week series, but only one tea can be crowned king of the cold brews. Plus more desultory DJing, captioning confusion and a cornucopia of characters, including our new Australian podcast producer and the return of Tom from the 90s Ford Jennings North East radio commercial.
Wed, September 15, 2021
Can a monitor lizard love you? Can trains fly? And what do you get when you cross frank Spencer with a Labrador Retriever? It might well be our cold brew series, but nevertheless things are really hotting up in Herbal Tea Of The week. Plus eccentric DJing, weird radio commercials, unusual impressions, and a story about a dog infiltrating our theatre show
Mon, September 06, 2021
We are invited to join the illuminati, Ellie gets into a street fight, and we receive some surreal sex education from a weird old woman.
Fri, August 27, 2021
More train travel tribulations, a nerdy shoutout, a disturbing infomercial, the FBI get in touch, and how will this week's cold brew herbal tea fare?
Mon, August 09, 2021
At 11pm on Saturday 31st July I was turfed out onto the street by Britannia Sachas Hotel in Manchester, despite having booked and paid for a room. They had sold my room on to someone else at a higher cost. Last week I devised a plan to gain my revenge on Britannia Hotels. I wrote a song about them, contacted the newspapers, sent emails, Facebook invites and tweets to fellow folk singers and comedians in the Manchester area. The idea was for us all to flash mob the hotel with my song. Hundreds of people expressed an interest in joining me. Manchester Evening News said they wanted to cover the event. This podcast is a recording of what occurred when we travelled to Manchester to picket Britannia Sachas Hotel with my song of protest. How many people would join me, and will the newspaper reporter turn up to cover it? Find out in this instalment of The David Eagle Podcast.
Thu, August 05, 2021
More tales from being on the road doing stand up comedy. Last week's adventure was nearly being beaten up outside a rough Kent pub. This week I am unexpectedly turfed out onto the rainy streets of Manchester late at night. IN complete contrast to that, we celebrate the return of our ability to once again smell and taste by sampling and reviewing a herbal tea. We have yet another Arch Bishop Of Canterbury story, and there's my most personally embarrassing Cassette Roulette yet.
Fri, July 30, 2021
This week I did my most surreal stand up gig by far, and fortunately for you I recorded it. So press play and join me in a rough rowdy pub in Kent for the "highlights", one of which being a bloke threatening to kick the shit out of me.
Fri, July 23, 2021
Covid-based isolation isn't enough to keep me and Ellie from recording a podcast. We've miced up separate parts of the house to talk some more about testicles and to bring you your favourite features, Cassette Roulette and Spammer Time, but not Herbal Tea Of The Week because we can't smell or taste anything. This week's guest is comedian and taxi driver Trevor Bickles who recounts three of his most memorable taxi journeys, and you'll never guess who he's had in the back of his cab.
Fri, July 16, 2021
The bad news is I've got Covid so I've had to cancel all my festivals and gigs until the 24th July. The good news is that you are still allowed contact with me through the medium of podcast. So listen in for some gig anecdotes, including the tale of the rather harrowing experience my dad had during one of my stand up nights.
Fri, July 02, 2021
This week, a gay animals themed quiz; Elton John based dog puns; dodgy radio adverts; more stories of harrowing journeys, and more penis trivia; plus all your favourite features: Herbal Tea Of The Week, Cassette Roulette and Spammer Time.
Thu, June 24, 2021
It's the final Potato News. Never mind Euro 2020, if you want high drama and compelling competition then check out this week's Herbal Tea Of The Week. We go down a rabbit hole due to a mysterious message left on an answerphon twenty-seven years ago; and the police get involved.
Fri, June 18, 2021
Phil Nichol returns to sample a herbal tea with us, tell a tale of a cold call confrontation, and shares two stories of harrowing journeys. Plus the penultimate Potato News, and there's a surprise appearance from Ann Widdecombe.
Fri, June 11, 2021
This week I've been doing online school workshops during the day and stand up gigs on the night, and surprisingly my best heckle came from a primary school child. Hear all about that, a clip from my surreal stand up gig in Liverpool, an epic tale of train travel trauma, Ellie has been secretly recording me, plus the regular features and lots of miscellaneous chat.
Fri, June 04, 2021
Back in the studio this week after a week of stand up comedy gigs, including a rather odd one in Liverpool where I had an altercation with five drunk loud-mouthed girls. The story of that, plus incongruous radio adverts; there's a bit of slapstick in a cupboard, epic flailing mouth trumpet solos, and the return of an old faithful feature with a bit of a twist.
Fri, May 28, 2021
Finally, I'm back out gigging, and I have plenty of stories to share. So this week I go for a walk by the river to impart those tales to you, but get a bit sidetracked by Millwall FC supporting birds and rampant dogs.
Thu, May 20, 2021
This week's podcast is full of contrast and contradiction. While it may be our most angry, sweary episode, it's also probably our cutest, sweetest episode, as I recount a tale about my teddy bear Bingo, and how it led to my first comedy performance at the age of five. There's altruistic rapping, a spot of embezzlement, and can our glorious socialist potato-based utopia prevail?
Fri, May 14, 2021
Warning, there's nothing erotic going on, and we have the video to prove it. There's rhubarb frolics, I release a damp squib over Christina Aguilera, and when it comes to potatoes I don't have it in me. There's Comical Columbian Commentary, a half-arse music quiz, and we receive a cryptic proposition from the International Monetary Fund.
Thu, April 29, 2021
Chumbawamba are globally ubiquitous for their song Tubthumping, appearing on numerous one-hit-wonder compilation albums. But Chumbawamba are no flash in the pan pop group. They were a band for thirty years from 1982 to 2012 and Boff Whalley was there for it all. Enter the crazy multifaceted world of Chumbawamba in this instalment of The David Eagle Podcast.
Wed, April 21, 2021
It's National Tea Day and The David eagle Podcast is more than ready to rise to the occasion. We've got tea facts, tea jokes, tea-themed audio clips and a variety of tea themed items, including the final instalment of our epic Herbal Tea battle; who will be crowned ultimate champion tea? plus there are more controversies and dramatic announcements to bring you as the integrity of our tea-based journalistic skills is once again challenged by the listeners. And we have a tea-related chat with Tina Gloggengieser from Hoogly Tea.
Thu, April 15, 2021
This week we set ourselves the challenge of getting through an entire episode without resorting to smut or euphemism, but can we pull it off? (And that's not a euphemism.) Is redemption in the offing for Teapigs in our penultimate Herbal Tea Of The week? What are the latest results of our psychological scientific potato-based experiment, and why have the Ghost Busters got involved? What is housed on this week's mystery cassette? This podcast description merely contains the questions; the podcast contains the answers, plus lots more.
Thu, April 08, 2021
This week features two exclusive David Eagle mixes; one from my fourteen-year-old self remixing the Sugababes with blackadder, and the other being my latest soon to be number one dance hit inspired by an angry Australian, entitled My Penis. In this episode I let you listen in as I work on my penis, before revealing what my hour of experimentation produced. I play a child shouting insults at a sack of potatoes in the name of psychological scientific research, I have an awkward moment with a plumber, and there's more drama, controversy and a shocking announcement in Herbal Tea Of The week.
Thu, April 01, 2021
On 17th April I'll be taking part in a festival to raise money for the charity Women And Girls who provide sanitary protection in India. We'll be chatting about the festival and the work of the charity with Kathryn Crosweller. But don't go thinking that just because I'm doing a charity gig that I'm all nice and cuddly, because this is also the podcast where I hurl insults at a sack of potatoes, Birdhouse are back to battle for supremacy in Herbal Tea Of The Week, but can they once again reclaim their championship status and knock Hoogly Tea's Ginger Biscuit blend off the top spot? And this week's Cassette Roulette contains some profound philosophy from a fourteen-year-old me.
Thu, March 25, 2021
An epic radio drama from my eleven-year-old self; a multifaceted edition of Potato News, I recount a story of being inadvertently kidnapped, Hoogly Tea once more enter into the fray to vie for supremacy in Herbal Tea Of The Week, and it's the concluding instalment of what's The Time Mr eagle, but will I be able to beat my personal best?
Thu, March 18, 2021
Featuring a spontaneously generated penis-inspired dance hit, reminiscences from the women's institute, and we introduce a new character: Swifty McVein. Plus regular features, Cassette Roulette, What's The Time Mr Eagle, Herbal Tea Of the week, and of course, Potato News!
Thu, March 11, 2021
Featuring some startling Henry VIII news, a salacious son of a Bishop, rants about printers and wires, unusual merchandise ideas, we conduct an experiment in bed, and we receive some highly odd and mysterious voice messages.
Thu, March 04, 2021
We take a little listen to a never-heard-before exciting new modern Christian compilation album. We get a surprise in bed from a sheep. There's a comprehensive scientific study into psychic ability in What's The Time Mr Eagle. We address your accusations of herbal heresy. Prepare yourselves for our most dramatic Potato News yet, and find out what secrets are housed on this week's mystery cassette.
Thu, February 25, 2021
This week, as a special treat, we bring you a much shorter podcast, nevertheless we cram in all the usual features, Potato News, Herbal Tea Of The week, Cassette Roulette and What's The Time Mr Eagle, plus Ellie tells us about another of her near-misses, this time involving Noel Edmonds.
Thu, February 18, 2021
This week features a tale of traumatic train travel, some erotic singing from my teenage self, and a conclusion to the epic ornithological debate.
Thu, February 11, 2021
Ellie very nearly stars in a Hollywood film alongside Nicole Kidman and Matt Lucas. We get yet another celebrity endorsement. In addition to regular features Cassette Roulette, Herbal Tea Of The Week and What's The Time Mr Eagle, we introduce a new exciting item, Potato News. Plus, ornithological debates, and quite a bit of nakedness.
Thu, February 04, 2021
Folk musician Alex Cumming takes part in our new quiz, hosted by a parrot. There's an anecdote about Rob Brydon, an epic game of What's The Time Mr Eagle, we unearth another old tape recording in Cassette Roulette, and can T2's Chaing Mai Chai knock Pukka's Matcha Chai off the top spot in Herbal Tea Of The Week?
Thu, January 28, 2021
Rants about women drivers and the French (not by me or Ellie I hasten to add), although there are some angry outbursts from me to look forward to. What do Rufus Hound, Miles Jupp and Mika have in common? We effortlessly move from sea shanties to bathroom cleaning tips via a monkey, share intimate recordings from our bedroom, and I recount the story behind my baldness. Plus the return of regular features, What's The Time Mr Eagle, Cassette Roulette and a return of an old favourite from podcasts past, Herbal Tea Of The week.
Thu, January 21, 2021
Since we last spoke, sea shanties seem to have become a massive global phenomenon, which is very odd to see, given that I've been in a band singing shanties for the last fifteen years. I chat with shanty stalwart Jim Mageean from the Keelers who recounts tales of travelling the world singing shanties and the surreal adventures which being a shanty singer has led to. Plus, the return of Cassette Roulette, an exciting new game, what's The Time Mr eagle, and I have an existential crisis, and get a surprise from Miles Jupp.
Thu, January 14, 2021
Welcome to a new weekly podcast series. This week my fiancée Ellie and I are joined by comedian, actor and musician Phil Nichol, who takes part in a very odd quiz. Ellie tests out her unusual Christmas present on me. We play an old tape recording from my childhood in our feature Cassette Roulette. Plus there's an anti-social neighbours update and an erotic encounter with Princess Margaret. Warning: the following podcast is probably not family friendly, unless you are a particularly openminded/dysfunctional family. If you feel amenable to giving a little donation to help support the podcast then you can do so at davideagle.co.uk Thank you, enjoy.
Thu, December 17, 2020
I am the ghost of clipsmas past, and I bring you a compilation of Christmas clips from The David Eagle Podcast. Featuring: a Christmas play I made when I was a student in 2004; erotic bath-based Christmas cracker fun; we hear from a man with a prurient interest in Christmas trees; there’s Christmas music, including some songs I made when I was a child; and lots more.

Day two, and my housemates have already decided they would rather give our daily family walk a miss. They said they had to do some work, but I suspect it might be due to the fact that I spent the last one commentating on the entire thing for this podcast. So I head out alone, except there are pesky people everywhere, meaning most of my walk consists of me diligently avoiding people whilst of course providing comprehensive commentary. But do I manage to keep more than two metres away from my fellow walkers? Find out in today’s dramatic instalment of The Eagle Is Stranded!

The concluding part of our reel-to-reel tape based detective story.
Mon, January 09, 2017
We’ve come along way with this investigation. Today we focus on the owner of the Reel-To-Reel recorder, Ken Cooper, as we go from barely knowing anything about him, to discovering a great deal. Hopefully there’ll be a final part, in which we get to chat with some of the people who were on this recording, made 55 years ago, but for now, here’s the penultimate instalment of our reel-to-reel based mystery.
Sun, January 08, 2017
Today we are thrown a bit of a curveball regarding David Cooper, yet we nevertheless seem to be edging ever closer to uncovering the people behind this mysterious old reel-to-reel recording.

Thanks to Abby for providing us with the various revelations in today’s episode of our investigation.

Continuing the investigation into a mysterious reel-to-reel tape recording from the 1960/70s. Does the tape belong to the late Ken Cooper, father of the late David Cooper? Will Steven Mainprize reply to my email and provide us with valuable information? And is Private Frazer a red herring?

Wed, January 04, 2017
Part four of our investigation to track down the people involved in a 1960s/70s reel-to-reel tape recording. Yesterday, we uncovered a major clue, in the form of some names. One of the names was Steven Mainprize. A Google search led to a couple of possible matches, one of which was Stephen Mainprize, owner of Mainprize Upholstery. So today, I gave that Steven Mainprize a call, and this is what happened.

In 2008, my friend Ben went to a car boot sale in Scarborough, where, For some strange reason he decided on a whim to buy an old reel-to-reel tape recorder. When he got the recorder home, he noticed that there was a tape inside the box. The contents of that reel-to-reel tape launched us on an unexpected journey of discovery, as we investigate the recording, making some rather exciting and dramatic findings. You too can join us on this adventure, as we travel through time and piece together the mystery of this old recording, in this ten part series, entitled The Reel-To-Reel deal.

As 2016 draws to an end, so does David’s Daily Digital Dollop. In this, the final Dollop, we spend eighty minutes revisiting some Dollop highlights, before finally saying goodbye to this ridiculous and stupidly crazy project.
Fri, December 30, 2016
Featuring my final Dollop in the bath; another childhood composition; a very touching and respectful tribute to Nana from the Royal Family; I kill off Aled Jones; there's an improvised drama about Father Christmas having to fill out a risk assessment form; My namesake is back and he's stealing my women; my niece Lucy returns to say goodbye and create a few more Dollop jingles; and the final dollop anecdote concerns a rather awkward disabled children's Christmas party.
Fri, December 16, 2016
This week: Christmas sketches, self-composed Christmas songs and some observations about how to improve Christmas carols. I am interviewed by a child Dollop fan. And as this project draws to an end it's time to say goodbye to a couple of classic Dollop characters, my housemate Ben and his girlfriend Elsa. We do our last Dollop from the kitchen and my last walk through rural Sheffield. It's getting emotional.
Thu, December 08, 2016
This week I find some old recordings which include a drama I created at uni about a rather odd father Christmas, and some weird clips of late night radio talk shows in the 90s. We also go on a walk through rural Sheffield and meet a farmer with some very dubious jokes and even more dubious opinions.
Fri, December 02, 2016

This week we have some workmen in the house and they are making me feel rather intimidated by their confident manliness, however I have a clever plan to appear much more manly in their eyes; and no, it doesn't involve getting naked, Chloe. There's another self-composed song: a pun-laden missive from a heartbroken maths student. Plus more lip biting news, more ideas for David's Daily Digital Dollop the Musical, and I nearly get killed by a hairdresser.

This episode is a rather spooky one as we enter the week of Halloween. There are mysterious voices captured on some of my audio recordings, but who do they belong to and what are they saying? Could they be communications from the afterlife? We take an unexpectedly spooky walk through rural Sheffield, and I have a near-death experience. Plus more exciting interactive games, one in the pub, the other in Sainsbury's.

And you'll be pleased to hear that we once again revisit the subject of WIFI enabled kettles, because we haven't talked about that enough yet.
Fri, October 07, 2016
An exciting roller-coaster of an episode as we flit from Portugal to Hartlepool, spending time in the company of garrulous taxi drivers, drunken hens and flirty golfers, discussing all manner of topics such as who decided how we assimilate animal and vehicular sounds in speech, with a bit of locker room banter and some experimental arty ambient music.
