On the latest episode of Jacked Ramsays, host Danny Marang sat down with Portland Trail Blazers General Manager Joe Cronin to discuss a host of questions and issues. What did Cronin learn about players who can and can’t play with Damian Lillard (1:00) Are you comfortable going forward with the Dame (Lillard) and Ant (Simons) backcourt pairing? (3:00) How do you get a more veteran laden team when so much of your roster is so young? (5:00) Is ownership comfortable paying the luxury tax for a team that can compete? (7:20) Has there been any movement on a potential G-League team for the Trail Blazers? (8:10) Have the Sacramento Kings set a kind of framework for competitiveness level to follow? (9:20) Is there one thing that’s front of mind - the one functional thing that you want to improve most with this roster? (12:40) How confident are you that you can put a top-4/5 seed in the West next year? (13:50) What are/were the pros and cons you’ve noticed taking the job via promotion within the team vs coming in fresh to the team entirely? (14:40) Have you decided who you’re sending to the Draft Lottery as the team representative? (16:45) Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Join host Danny Marang with special guest from the Portland Trail Blazers, Trendon Watford! Together they discuss where Watford is from, his young basketball life where he was a McDonald’s All American and 3-time state champion out of Birmingham, Alabama. Then it’s onto his path to the NBA as an undrafted player out of LSU - what draft night was like and how he almost wasn’t a member of the Portland Trail Blazers. Watford signs a two-way deal with the Blazers and sets out to prove that he belongs - what was the moment like when he DID find out he belongs and got his two-way contract converted into a full NBA deal? They wrap with how his game has developed as a big, from working in dribble hand offs, what players he watches film on and looks to borrow from, the evolution of his floater, developing a 3 point shot and what it was like being a part of NBA history as Lillard went off for 71 points. Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague hop on following Wednesday night's Portland Trail Blazers win over the Memphis Grizzlies on the road, 122-112. Buoyed by another 40+ point performance from Damian Lillard, the Blazers were able to runaway from Ja Morant and the Grizzlies despite losing two of their starters; Jusuf Nurkic in under 3 minutes to start the game (calf) and Jerami Grant at half time following a fall during the 2nd quarter where he hit his head after a Danny Green foul. Anfernee Simons was in foul trouble throughout the night but a combination of Simons' 14 point 4th quarter and aggressive small ball defense- Portland was able to withstand multiple setbacks throughout the night in order to secure the best win of the season - home or away and perhaps serve as a flashpoint for a spring time run all too familiar to Blazers fans. Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague for the latest Jacked Ramsays Live where they take on some of your questions; but first it’s a salute to Damian Lillard passing Clyde Drexler’s all time scoring mark with the Trail Blazers - what it was like to be in the building as the franchise paid homage to Lillard’s accomplishment - and what he’s meant to this organization in his time so far. Then it’s onto where this team is at right now and what they need to do to get right this month with such a home heavy schedule and how Coach Billups hopes the recent time off allows for the Blazers to perhaps push their defense back towards middling and out of the deep end of the rankings. From there it’s taking a look at the health and return of Gary Payton II - making sense of the entire situation and what’s coming next. What do we know about where Payton is at in his recovery and return? Is this a situation that looks like past problems with Portland free agent signees Festus Ezeli and Pau Gasol - players who got paid but never played a minute for the franchise or is this something entirely different? That and a whole lot more - tap in for the latest now! Join Danny Marang, Brandon Sprague and special guest Casey Holdahl for the latest Jacked Ramsays live. It's a road trip check in, following two back breaking losses to the Oklahoma City Thunder (read: The Fighting Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (s)) and a 6th game in 10 days against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets - there's a lot to tackle about where this Trail Blazers team is right now (17-15) Following Damian Lillard's new franchise scoring record, the vibes just don't feel right...What's wrong with the Blazers? Is it injuries? Where are the problems most amplified? Is this just the ebb and flow of the season - or is there more to it? Stepping away from the recent play, the team is 17-15 through 32 games - is that any different from where you thought they'd be at this point? It’s an all new Jacked Ramsays Mail Bag show! Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague where they hit on: Will the Raptors blow it up? Does a slow start (13-17) being only a handful of games out of the Eastern Conference, Fred VanVleet’s slow burn and a failure to maximize the win now of one end of the roster mean they should look to reset? Does this sound familiar to anyone else? From there the question of, does a bad loss to Luka Doncic and the Mavericks means anything? During the run of 82 games to good wins or bad losses mean anything telling? How much do you buy into - or not -what they can say about a team? As it’s the holidays, the important questions keep coming in -Christmas ham or turkey? Yes, there’s a correct answer! In interesting question came in on Shaedon Sharpe as well. how do you view Shaedon Sharpe’s current impact - positive, neutral or negative? Evaluating and/or valuing players on different development arcs is certainly intriguing - how does it hold up for Sharpe? That and a whole lot more on the latest Jacked Ramsays Mail Bag! Tap in now! Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague for a post game Jacked Ramsays After Dark following a win Wednesday night on Game 1 of their 6 game trip - kicking it off in San Antonio with a 16 point win over the Spurs. The Blazers did what was needed of them - even if they messed around a bit - Damian Lillard, Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant combined for 78 points on 59% shooting - where the TEAM shot nearly 61% on the night. It was the 2nd game in a row where the Blazers could have easily hung 140 points on their opponent but with the game in hand, they pulled the starters and moved onto the next. The Next? It's Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night in Dallas. Tap in now to talk about Wednesday night's game and to look ahead to the remaining 5 games on the trip! Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take on all your questions about the Portland Trail Blazers on the weekly Mail Bag Show. Over the last week the Blazers are 3-1, the lone loss coming at the hands of the Denver Nuggets in the waning seconds of a 121-120 final capped by an incredible 3 pointer in the corner falling away oer Jerami Grant by Jamal Murray. Don't try to give the Blazers any moral victories as Coach Chauncey Billups shut that down IMMEDIATELY in the post game press conference. The Blazers followed up that performance by giving up over 60+ points in the first half of their next game against the Minnesota Timberwolves before finally buckling down and play enough on tht side of the ball to get the win in the 2nd half behind incredible shot making from Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons and a dusting of jsut enough defense to take away the first and second options. Following that game, Josh Hart was asked about the defense and his exact answer can't be printed here due to the profanity but it was akin to "not great, Bob!" Join Danny Marang for a recap of Saturday night's game that saw the Blazers get back in the win column against the Minnesota Timberwolves, 124-118 - in a game that was up for grabs until late in the 4th quarter. The Blazers offense has been finding a real rhythm lately, putting up multiple 120 point efforts - the flipside is that the defense has been in the dumpster like a family of raccoons on crab rangoon night at the corner spot. Damian Lillard and Josh Hart both spoke on how they were, to paraphrase - "not great" and that it took a real commitment in the 4th quarter to pull this game out and that it shouldn't have been like that b/c they came in with the correct game plan, they just didn't execute. They play the same Timberwolves team on Monday night, will they have the same issues or will they have those squared away in time to solve new problems they may present? Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at how the Trail Blazers got their groove back - now sitting 6th in the West at 13-11, with 3 days off and a chance to get healthy before taking on Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets and Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves before embarking on a 6 game road trip through the heartland. Featuring games against sub .500 teams such as the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets and the Oklahoma City Thunder (deuce) and wrapping up just before Christmas. Can/will the Blazers clear the hurdle of being above .500 heading into Christmas and the New Year? What changes are likely coming into the new calendar year? How good can this version of the team be? Join Danny Marang for a Jacked Ramsays After Dark that saw the Portland Trail Blazers defeat the Indiana Pacers, 116-100. The return of Damian Lillard to steady the ship early and often, integrating back into a lineup with Jerami Grant and Anfernee Simons offensively who’ve been some of the most productive offensive players in the league in Lillard’s absence . Tonight the trio all scored 21 or more points - combining for 71 points, 15 assists, 12 rebounds and 13-29 from the three point line to help put the Pacers away for good. Josh Hart made his return, albeit looking visibly limited - Hart went out and picked up a double-double leading the Blazers in rebounding with 10 while scoring 11 more. Billups noted post game how he’s been the heart and soul of the team and they look to him for energy and not so subtlety hinted at Hart playing through quite a bit right now. Jusuf Nurkic filled in a great 2nd half again after looking mildly impactful in the 1st half - Nurkic came out physical in the 3rd quarter posting up and knocking back Myles Turner with a handful of post bumps before stepping through and dunking. Again he made his physical presence known and the impact was apparent- the lanes were shut off more so with Nurkic offering more resistance at the rim while turning in a 19 points, 6 rebound & 4 assist night. Now 2 games over .500 and with 3 days in a row off, Coach Chauncey Billups said the team will focus on rest before getting back to practice - as he noted pregame, “you gotta trust the science” behind necessary rest before getting back to the grind of practice. Join Danny Marang for a Jacked Ramsays After Dark that saw the Portland Trail Blazers defeat the Utah Jazz, 116-111 on the road and improve to 12-11 on teh season. It was a special night for Anfernee Simons, who finished the night with a new career high of 45 points on 15-25 FG, 7-12 3FG and 8-8 FT - who scored 36 of those points in the 1st half (also a career high for points in a half) but it all started with his 23 points in the 1st quarter (career high for points in a quarter) that got the Blazers the offense they needed to jump start them. After the offensive explosion for Simons in the 1st (40 points for the team) the scoring slowed to a standard pace that saw contributions up and down the board. Jerami Grant took over the 2nd half as Simons was clearly tired and finished with 13 of his 33 points in the 4th quarter. A slow and awkward first half from Jusuf Nurkic turned into one of Nurk's most impactful 2nd halves of the season - where perhaps only his early season performance against Deandre Ayton and the Suns being more important. He was a deterrent at the rim, secured rebounds and traffic and generated multiple 2nd chance opportunities that Portland desparately needed down the stretch. Trendon Watford and Greg Brown III both played big roles tonight with their energy and hustle - 9 points, 14 rebounds and also cleaned up on the offensive glass. While Brown III brought energy when the Blazers needed it, finishing with 6 points and 4 rebounds along with some rather inspired defense. All in all, a great win for the Blazers when they needed it most. Thet got it done by getting into their offense early, trusting the hot hand when it was going and timely defensive stops. Significantly more fun and reminiscent to how the season started. Tap in and enjoy the show! The Trail Blazers have lost 7 of their last 8 and the world is crashing down around them.. or is it? Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they look at the last 2 weeks of Blazers basketball that have seen the once bright outlook on the season darken as injuries and losses pile up. Can the Blazers get to Christmas at .500? Sitting at 11-11, the Blazers have 11 more games before Christmas day - including another 6 game road trip. The good news? Up until now the Blazers have played the most difficult schedule in the league and even with all of their injuries, they sit at .500 with a chance to be at or above that line come the 25th. With multiple games against he Minnesota Timberwolves (11-11) (who will likely be without Karl Anthony-Towns) and the Oklahoma City Thunder (9-13), and games against the San Antonio Spurs (6-16) Houston Rockets (5-16) the Blazers have the chance to perhaps pick up some wins they’ve dropped along the way to the LA Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers and right the ship as they head into what looks to be a busy trade season post December 15th into the mid January window. While the team clearly has shortcomings, do they need a trade now? What’s the biggest issue- health? Coaching? Personnel? A combination of all of them? Tap in and talk about it now! Join Danny Marang for a Jacked Ramsays After Dark episode following Friday night's win in Gotham as the Blazers hold off the Knicks in OT, 132-129. The shorthanded Blazers got monster performances from Jerami Grant (new career high 44 points and franchise record 28 free throw attempts) and Anfernee Simons (38 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) to stop the 4-game skid and get Portland back in the win column. Jusuf Nurkic chips in 20 points, 8 rebounds & 7 assists while Josh Hart sets a new career high with 19 rebounds, 10 points and 4 assists to help steer Portland back on course and make possible the chance for a .500 road trip with a redemption win against the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday. Join Danny Marang for a Jacked Ramsays After Dark episode following Tuesday night’s game vs the San Antonio Spurs that saw the Blazers rattle off their 10th win of the season, 117-110. Once again led by swingman Jerami Grant(29 points, 8 rebounds, 6-8 3FG) with the starting unit back together - Damian Lillard (22 points, 11 assists, 2 rebounds) and Anfernee Simons (23 points, 2 assists, 3 rebounds) joined Grant with 20+ point production to combat a young, well coached Spurs team in the closing minutes of the 4th quarter. While the boxscore was carried by the marquee names, Drew Eubanks stepped in for Jusuf Nurkic who’s working back from injuries (and not looking remotely ready for consistent production) and competed admirably against Jakob Poeltl (who had a career high 31 points backed by 14 rebounds, 5 assists & a block) - who was absolutely feasting on a step slow Nurkic. Giving up size and length, Eubanks measured up with heart and competed his butt off - 9 points and 7 rebounds don’t do the justice of telling his story tonight, a +28 in a game the Blazers won by 7. Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague for a Jacked Ramsays Mail Bag following the Portland Trail Blazers return from a 6-game road trip where the Blazers went 4-2, elevating their season record to 9-4 and the top of the Western Conference (as of Monday night). What did we learn about the Blazers on their trip? From their series games with the Suns, we saw that the Blazers are able to survive without their top players - if only for a night. The Blazers have been tested in quarters and halves, found themselves down tremendously at times- and yet, outside of one game in Phoenix wildly short handed - they haven’t “let go or the rope” at all - and have been competing every night. While Portland went 4-2 on the trip, some interesting trends have popped up defensively as it pertains to shot profiles. Seth Partnow and Kevin Pelton have both raised concerns over the last few days - how much do you consider this to be a problem, if any? How has the Damian Lillard/Anfernee Simons backcourt looked so far? What’s working and what isn’t- what can they do to maximize the pairing? Where are the Blazers at health-wise? With nearly every rotation player being unavailable at some point - are the Blazers finally getting healthier? That and more on this week’s episode! Learn more about your ad choices. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague for another Jacked Ramsays After Dark following another road win for the Blazers - this time taking down Zion Williamson, CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram and the new Orleans Pelicans, 106-95 in game 5 of a 6 game road trip. The Blazers went into the game with Damian Lillard, Jusuf Nurkic, Shaedon Sharpe and Keon Johnson all sitting out due to various injuries and yet somehow, Portland looked like the better team for the majority of the game. So much so, that Portland was able to close the 4th quarter with ease. Anfernee Simons outplayed his former running mate in McCollum and Jerami Grant outgunned Ingram as the top SlenderMan on the floor. With the win, the Blazers improve to an NBA best 6-1 on the road and 9-3 overall - good enough in the Western Conference. Join Danny Marang on the latest Jacked Ramsays After Dark - where he runs down the latest Trail Blazers road victory over the Charlotte Hornets, 105-95. Playing the 4th game of a 6-game trip, Portland opted to sit Jerami Grant (ankle) and Jusuf Nurkic (adductor) against the reeling Hornets who are still missing LaMelo Ball, ahead of a back-to-back Thursday against Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, CJ McCollum and the New Orleans Pelicans. The Blazers depth proved incredibly important against the Hornets, rookies Shaedon Sharpe (17 points, 4 rebounds) and Jabari Walker (5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists) showed up in big ways while 2nd year man Trendon Watford (8 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds) helped alleviate the Hornet’s effective zone pressure with his playmaking in the second half. In a game that saw the Blazers continue to turn the ball over (17 turnovers), allowed the Hornets to score 18 points in the paint in the opening quarter, gave up a 19-2 run in the third quarter - and yet have 3 of their youngest players rise up alongside Damian Lillard (28 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds) and Anfernee Simons (19 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds) deep into a long road trip guaranteeing no less than a .500 trip with their 3rd win... speaks volumes to where this 8-3 team is currently at. Join Danny Marang for a post game wrap up where the Portland Trail Blazers go into Miami and split the season series on a last second game winner from Josh Hart - locking in a 110-107 win and the 2nd win in 3 games if a 6 game trip! After a muddy first half that saw the Blazers commit 12 turnovers, the Blazers tightened things down a bit in the 3rd quarter - nearly matching Miami 21-20 heading into the fourth. When the Blazers just couldn't get over the hump, Coach Billups went small at the 6:15 mark and that was it - Justise Winslow set the pace attacking and Anfernee Simons followed. The Blazers outscored the Heat 37-26 in the period, repeatedly breaking open the Heat's zone that had worked for 42+ minutes previously. Simons had 12 in the 4th buoyed by two and-1 trips off of aggressive drives - the team shot 13 of 17 in the quarter and gave Hart a chance to seal it by not calling a timeout and pushing the ball of a Heat make - the rest is history! Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they answer as many of your Blazers related questions as they can. The Blazers are off to a 6-3 start with 4 games remaining on a 6 game trip. Damian Lillard is getting healthier, Anfernee Simons is struggling with a nagging foot injury, Jusuf Nurkic is up & down, Shaedon Sharpe is showing out, Jerami Grant is hitting game winners and the Blazers have already taken the season series from the Suns. In between, there’s a lot of questions to ask! Should Nassir Little be looking at a bigger role sooner than later? In his limited minutes, Little has been one of - if not the most efficient offensive players the Blazers have off the bench. His ability to attack close outs and either pull up at 15 feet or get all the way to the rim gives the Blazers a much needed offensive dimension. However, with Josh Hart’s ball handling being in such high demand with injuries, there hasn’t been as much room to get Little onto the floor. When either/both Lillard and Simons return - could we be looking at Little taking a few minutes from Hart? In 9 games, has Shaedon Sharpe already become untouchable? What does that even mean? Has Jusuf Nurkic’s play been good enough - and if so - is it sustainable? can he continue to be relied upon to knock down 3’s? How much faith has he restored (if any) after such a poor start in the preseason? There’s a lot going on out there and we’ve got you covered - so tap in! Learn more about your ad choices. Join host Danny Marang for a rapid reaction to Friday night’s game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Houston Rockets that saw the Blazers improve to 5-1 on the season, winning 125-111. The Blazers were lifted by 30 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds from Anfernee Simons, 27 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks from Jusuf Nurkic and 14 points, 2 assists and tremendously highlight reel dunks from rookie Shaedon Sharpe in his starting debut slotting in for the injured Damian Lillard. Stellar performances for Simons and Nurkic are not new, both have had better nights in their careers - both on the box score and in impact. Tonight was about a thunderous arrival of Sharpe - felt repeatedly through each ferocious dunk thrown down by the Canadian rookie. The crowd rose to a crescendo in a sequence that saw Sharpe get loose on a fast break and hammer down a right handed tomahawk with Jalen Green trailing him, then immediately after that Keon Johnson forced a turnover and threw a lob into the atmosphere for Sharpe to go get and go get he did. When he brought it down on the rim Moda Center exploded into a playoff like roar - signaling the official arrival of the Sharpe dressed man. The headline outside of the loss was Damian Lillard asking out in the 3rd quarter and visibly limping. The team reported that he wouldn’t finish the game due to a right calf strain. After the game, media gathered around Lillard and he said had this been a playoff game he would’ve been out there. He tried to get back out on the floor but the training staff stopped him and they evaluated him further with some recovery work and tested his strength. Lillard seemed more irritated about the injury than concerned about anything lingering. He did say he’ll likely miss Friday’s game against the Houston Rockets and that as a winnable game he wasn’t too concerned about it. Particularly noting that missing that game would afford him nearly a week off with the upcoming 4-day break for the Blazers starting Saturday. The basketball story from the night was the endless barrage of live ball turnovers that led to the game being busted wide open by the Heat in the 3rd quarter. Lillard and Anfernee Simons both lost their handles and fired errant passes - a staple of the the team to start the season that Miami feasted on to the tune of transition dunks and wide open three pointers. Portland has a day off before taking on the Rockets, a young and athletic team that poses challenges but is very much the most “beatable” team on calendar to start the season. Join host Danny Marang for a rapid reaction to the Portland Trail Blazers 135-110 win led by Anfernee Simons’ nuclear third quarter 22 points and Damian Lillard’s 31 point night against Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon’s Denver Nuggets. Segment 1: Turns Out, One of the Best Shooters in the NBA Can Still Shoot the Ball after 3 Poor Outings What? You didn’t think EYE was going to victory lap this one? You know me better than that by now, or at least you should. Yes, the guy who’s been one of the purest shooters in the league over the last two years found his jumper after a sub-par dare I say bad 3 shooting games? Well Anfernee Simons got hot and didn’t cool off for an entire quarter - to the tune of 22 points, 6-7 from distance and 8-9 from the field and half of Portland’s 44 points in the period. Segment 2: Is the Defense, for REAL for real? While a sluggish start marred the Blazers for the 4th straight game they again clawed their way back into the game with defensive intensity for more than a couple minutes. Turnovers were forced, fast breaks were had and slowly but surely Portland whittled away at a Nugget lead going into the half. Then in the third quarter the dam broke behind Simons’ salve AND the Blazers held Denver to just 25 in the period. We’ve seen the offensive fireworks before, but not backed by sustained defense. That’s 4 games in a row. This might be a thing. Segment 3: The Blazers finally clean up the sloppy stuff! The Blazers have had a real issue heading into tonight’s game being loose with the ball - 22 of their 52 total turnovers have came about as a “bad pass.” Lillard being the chief offender with 11 such turnovers. You know the type, lazy and or air-mailed passes that end up igniting an opponent’s break or stifling a possession. After a few errant passes in the first half the Blazers tightened things up and even started flexing a bit - with Simons whipping a behind the back pass to Nurkic and rifling two one-handed passes, one to Josh Hart for a dunk the other to Lillard for a wing three. You started to see what the offense COULD be when it fires on all cylinders and then some. Tap in for the post game wrap up show and don’t forget to subscribe! Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they dive into the last 2 games for the Portland Trail Blazers against the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers that saw the Blazers step in and close out both teams in exciting fashion. After that - it’s a Mail Bag edition where the fellas answer as many of your questions as possible! The Anfernee Simons Block: Should there be a concern about Anfernee Simons’ slow start or is this similar to Damian Lillard or CJ McCollum having a slow start the the season? If not, is there a game marker when it could/should become a problem? We’re y’all surprised when Chauncey subbed Ant back into the game for Justise late in the 4th qtr? I was. All’s well that ends well or should we still be concerned with these rotations? The Shaedon Sharpe Block: Is/Should Shaedon Sharpe be looked at as the Blazers 6th man? I know it’s super early, but with what we’ve seen from Sharpe so far, what do the Blazers have here? Do they legit have a dude who you could see becoming an all-star within the next few seasons? Nassir and Shaedon seem like a tandem that should share 100% of their minutes on court together. Ummm.. analysis? The You Can’t Trade Josh Hart Block: This is way too early, but: can they even afford to trade Josh Hart? He simultaneously seems like their best trade chip but also the emotional/grit heart of the team. What’s the move this year, apart from obvious roster balance issues? The Odds & Ends Block: With the Blazers having another game with high turnovers, how do they fix the issue? What do think is the biggest improvement made by Chauncey from his 1st year into his 2nd year? Is this start for real?! I mean, how far into this season do we need to go before we recalibrate what we think this team is capable of? Join hosts Danny Marang and Brand Sprague on this live show of Jacked Ramsays where they’ll hit on: Blazers get 1st win against the Sacramento Kings! The Blazers find a way to win without Damian Lillard at his best and Anfernee Simons having a very “normal” night. Jerami Grant debuts and shows exactly what the Blazers have been missing at the wing position since the departure of LaMarcus Aldridge while Josh Hart fills the gaps left by Wes Matthews and his bull dog mentality Jusut Nurkic continues to disappoint, providing very little vallue on either end of the floor. Coach Chauncey Billups makes his first big move as a head coach, opting to sit Nurkic and deploying the small ball closing lineup featuring Lillard, Simons, Har, Grant and Justise Winslow Shaedon Sharpe makes his NBA debut and looks like he belongs in the rotation immediately. Calm and collected, Billups went back to the rookie for a 2nd shift in the 2nd half. Danny and Brandon go back to Monday and revisit highlights from Trail Blazers GM Joe Cronin’s interview- and dissect what was and what wasn’t said. Then it’s looking ahead to Blazers-Suns as the Blazers open up Moda Center to the Suns fresh off a 20-point come from behind victory over Luka Doncic and the Mavs, perhaps staving up at least some of the putrid tast of what lingers following last years Game 7 humiliation. On a special episode on the eve of Opening Night in the NBA, hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague are joined by Portland Trail Blazers GM Joe Cronin for an exclusive interview. With breaking news of an unexpected extension for 4th year forward Nassir Little, Cronin is asked how the deal came together- his relationship with Little and what it means for the organization going forward. From there it’s time to dig into the product on the floor- Cronin was asked about where the team is now, setting the tone and what the evaluation process looks like on this team through the first 20 games and here’s a snippet of what he had to say: “Our perspective is just, we’re building here. We have a goal that we’re trying to achieve - we’re trying to, play Chauncey’s brand of ball which for us you know, will involve some patience for us and some rewiring for some players and just stylistically these guys figuring out how to play together.I think it’s easy for some guys to be able to say this but I do think we mean this... We’re not fixated on outcomes right now - I mean, we want to win and we’re very competitive - just as people and our roster is as well, but we want to see growth and we want to see us winning ball games the right way. So our goal is to be patient. I’ve said a lot publicly that we have a ways to go still and we all know that - but at the same time we like where we are. I’m just probably a more of positive than a negative person by nature and I’m looking at the positives that we’ve seen and there’s a lot of them.” From there it’s time to dig into the product on the floor- particularly how the Blazers have looked during the preseason so far the reactions around the fanbase. Cronin was asked about how he gauges the preseason, how much he takes into account practice & development behind the scenes vs what happens on the floor. “Generally speaking I try not to put too much weight into preseason, specifically around wins and losses because teams might clear their bench at given times and all of that, but I’d be lying to you if I said that I wasn’t paying attention to the quality of play during those preseason games there were certain things I wanted to see.”“I wanted to see us defend at a higher level. See us be productive offensively and play with some pace and there were some certain games where that didn’t happen. And I definitely discount it to an extent that yes, it was a preseason game and yes this group hasn’t played together a lot and it’s going to take some time to figure their stuff out. But - I think it’s just natural when you’re watching and you see things that aren’t necessarily clicking, can be alarming and you wonder, is it this game or is this how we are? How far away are we from where we want to be?” Questions about how and what choices were made to run and build a team around Damian Lillard at the same time as developing around “the rails of Shaedon Sharpe, Anfernee Simons, Nassir Little and ot

Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprauge with special guest Sean Highkin as they take a look at where the Blazers sit before heading into Game 1 of the regular season. What's broken? What works? What were the biggest issues coming out of preseason and why are they so glaring? There's plenty to point to, the offense never got going, the defense is a mess while turnovers and fouling are prevalent. Where do you even start? The defense is getting the early cleansing and it starts with Jusuf Nurkic. Brought back and paid, Nurkic has yet to put together a single stretch of effectiveness on the defensive end. Outplayed in every match up, racking up fouls while reverting the less than glamourous flip shots - the Blazers haven't been able to get much out of Bosnian, let alone the Beast. With porous defense above the free throw line, why does it matter if Nurkic isn't playing his part? Together the guys dive into the WHY it matters so much that Nurkic be a problem solver. From there they'll take on listener questions! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Mike Richman of Locked On Blazers joins hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague to dig into what they’ve seen from the Portland Trail Blazers through 4 Preseason games. How much of it really matters? What they’ve been watching for and seeing or not seeing and whether that spells trouble for the Blazers. Josh Hart is named the starter, should he stay there - and if yes for how long? What would/will it take for Justise Winslow or Nassir Little to unseat Hart? Is anyone worried about Damian Lillard - or is this just working through the kinks of not playing for nearly 10 months? Is playing with and/or off of Anfernee Simons going to be a problem for either Lillard or Simons in the long term? Jusuf Nurkic doesn’t appear ready to play more than 20+ minutes per night physically. Can the Blazers get him ramped up and in condition to do what they need him to - and if so, how long until he’s up to speed? Can the Blazers get more out of their bench unit, or is this a team that’s going to go as far as the starting group will take them? That and more on the latest Jacked Ramsays! Deuce Mason of "Deuce & Mo" dropped by to talk state of the Sacramento Kings. Where are they? What are they doing? WHY are they? Deuce has you covered from front to back with the additions of Keegan Murray and Kevin Huerter, Mike Brown inserted as the new head coach, an evolution for De'Aaron Fox and optimizing Domantas Sabonis. The Kings are riding a 16 year streak of futility, now the longest in North American professional sports since the Seattle Mariners broke through just weeks ago. In a year where Victor Wembenyama and Scoot Henderson sit as franchise changers to the winner of the NBA Draft Lottery, the Kings have decided they want to pursue the playoffs at all costs and reward and entire generation of Kings fans the opportunity they've missed out on for so long. Regardless of the actual ceiling of this version of the roster. Grab the family and sit around the cell phone, tablet, or whatever electronic device it is you're on and watch and/or listen to Danny and Deuce get down on the projections for two teams that seemingly no one out of their markets know what to make of them. What, if anything did we learn about this Blazers team? What should you take from early preseason action? Does hitting your shots and looking in midseason form matter in the exhibition season? Questions, questions, questions - which are exactly the things that the guys will be asking each other to see where they gauge the Blazers right now. On the list...How does Damian Lillard look overall and healthwise - are there any lingering concerns there? The addition of Jerami Grant - how does he hit and will the Blazers be able to optimize him? How do the offensive and defensive philosophies designed/employed by Coach Chauncey Billups look early on? Pushing pace, forcing turnovers, aggressive switching, etc. How Have Anfernee Simons and Damian Lillard looked as backcourt running-mates? Who has the inside track on the small forward starting spot? Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague following the official start of the season with Trail Blazers Media Day. Together they’ll take you through all the interviews from Monday morning and what they mean. General Manager Joe Cronin stated “it will probably involve making additions soon and definitely in the future” after saying that they’re going to need to be “focusing on their connectivity, more so than whether we’re winning games on a nightly basis” so how exactly and where exactly does this play itself out? What should you watch for - what is “being connected?” Coach Chauncey Billups followed up Cronin saying “Trying to create a culture of connectedness, I want to be the most connected team in the league. The most connected teams are really successful. I want to be the team that no one wants to play.” Harkening back to his days with the Detroit Pistons - this leans more into the process over results that perhaps the Blazers are looking for. Connectedness as a culture very much being the driving force on and off the floor. Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons echoed these sentiments, I asked them about the differences between the era of Lillard and now New Orleans Pelicans guard, CJ McCollum: With me and CJ we could score a lot of points, you could count on CJ to get 20-25, the difference this year will be - I’m going to make the right play, I’m gonna get in the paint hit the roll man, hit the corner…& with Ant I’ve had him here since he was 19 years old, I could tell him this is why I do this - this why I go about his and bc he was so young he was able to watch it and adopted that so early and he’s unselfish - him being my rook, it’ll be like there’s 2 of us out there - Ant is going to make the right play. I won’t look like my turn his turn. The ball will move around more naturally and it’ll be more natural. On the latest episode of Jacked Ramsays, hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague are joined by Trail Blazers rookie wing/big from University of Colorado - Jabari Walker! Together they hit on Jabari falling on NBA Draft night from a possible first round pick to the 57th overall (and second to last pick of the draft) - and how that went for him mentally...as well as maybe keeping a few notes on all the teams that passed on him (even a team that reached out to apologize). Adjusting from being a leading scorer and rebounder in the Pac-12 at Colorado to adjusting to the NBA in Summer League and the changes that come with getting out of your own way as well as developing in college in 2 years after being an unranked recruit. Looking at where Jabari ranked against the stars of Summer League like Paolo Banchero, Chet Holmgren, Jabari Smith Jr and Keegan Murray - and how he was able to perform at the top of Summer League without the ball in his hands. How to be a star in his role - and how his father instilled in him how to really understand his role and a humbling process in high school helping get him to where he is now. We wrap it up with Jabari’s thoughts on where he hopes he’s rated when NBA2K23 comes out and whether or not he’s starting on his 2K team. Tap in! On the latest episode of Jacked Ramsays, hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague are joined by Portland Trail Blazers guard, Anfernee Simons. Fresh off his newly signed 4-year, $100 million contract the guys ask Ant what has changed in his life since he put pen to paper on such a life changing deal. Where was he, what does he remember and most importantly - what was the journey like for him to go from such a young man to where he is today. From there it was about the questions that have bounced around Portland ever since CJ McCollum was traded - what’s different about a Damian Lillard-Anfernee Simons backcourt from a Lillard-McCollum one and why can it work this time? Simons highlights specifically how he’s different on not just offense but defense as well - including the additions of new teammates and the overhaul of the roster from the start of last year until now. Beyond that, Simons lays out some of his goals for next year - including the idea of becoming a “50/40/90 guy” (for those unaware, these are benchmarks for 50% from the field, 40% from the 3 points line and 90% from the free throw line) as one of his realistic goals. Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague take on some big Portland Trail Blazers questions heading into the 2022-23 NBA season on the latest episode of the Jacked Ramsays Podcast! What does Damian Lillard look like this year? Which version of him is best for this team and how/where can evolve? That’s the first question of many that Danny & Brandon take a look at as the framing for next year becomes more apparent. Who gets the short end of the stick if new free agent acquisition Gary Payton II is playing stout defense and they need him to close a game? While bigger questions are out there - one of the more interesting ones is how/when GP2 will be deployed by Chauncey Billups and how that signing can be optimized. Can newly-signed Anfernee Simons breakthrough and be more than the “near All-Star” guy that CJ McCollum was and more! Lost in the shuffle of new additions and better fits is the question of whether Simons can meet and then surpass the previous contributions of CJ McCollum. Is it possible and if so, what does he need to do and how likely is that to happen? SUBSCRIBE: YouTube, Twitch, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google and Anywhere You Get Podcasts! On this episode of Jacked Ramsays, Danny Marang is joined by Sam Esfandiari of “Light Years” show covering the Golden State Warriors to give insight on the newest addition to the Portland Trail Blazers, Gary Payton II. One of the biggest push backs over Payton’s addition is his “lack” of size - Sam highlights how that wasn’t really an issue for the Warriors and the role(s) you can expect Payton to play and excel in. Playing alongside Steph Curry preparing Payton to play alongside Damian Lillard and/or Anfernee Simons. From there it’s why this time was right for Payton, how he got onto the floor for the Warriors and how he’s more than good enough to get on the floor for 20 minutes a night in the NBA Finals. The guys then dive into where the Blazers are Warriors likely find themselves in the pecking order of the Western Conference next year - and how Portland can perhaps put themselves in a better position than where the early betting lines (40.5 wins) have them landing. Join Danny Marang as he talks the Trail Blazer’s second Summer League title in the last 4 years (have fun, I dare you) - beating the New York Knicks in the final, 85-77. Leading the charge, big man Trendon Watford who secured a unanimous Summer League Championship game MVP award 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. With Brandon Williams (22 points, 5 assists) and Jabari Walker’s continued stellar debut campaign contributing 14 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks supporting Watford and the Blazer’s run to the title. What does any of it mean? While it comes with the very real caveat of “it’s only Summer League” - there’s still plenty of lessons to be garnered here. The style and flow of each game felt different, while the type of personnel General Manager Joe Cronin and his staff are after has felt evident throughout each game. Bolstered by Coach Steve Hetzel taking and building up an attitude and mentality of defense first that emanates from the top with head Coach Chaucey Billups. Beyond style and personnel theory, the impact of 57th overall pick Jabari Walker appears to be something very real and one of the bigger storylines heading into training camp. Will either he or fellow rookie Shaedon Sharpe shine enough to work themselves into real minutes in the preseason - thrown into the crucible of the stiffest competition they’ve faced yet- or will the Blazers soft launch both of them- spoon feeding opportunities to make sure they aren’t overwhelmed? Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague for another live Jacked Ramsays! Jabari Walker has signed a full contract with the Trail Blazers, reports have it listed as a 3-year deal for $4.57 million, the first year guaranteed, the second year partially guaranteed with nothing guaranteed on the final year. With Walker as the story of the Blazer’s Summer League (with #7 overall pick Shaedon Sharpe out injured) one of the last real questions heading into training camp this year was whether or not he would be on the Blazers as a two-way contract or a full guarantee. With this deal signed, the Blazer’s roster is full at 15 players with one remaining two-way contract if the Blazers choose to pursue additional depth on the developmental market. This also brings the Blazer’s space between them and the hard cap down to around $4.2 million, with the ability to use the $4.1 million available via the BAE or up to $4.2 million of the $6.5 million TPE created during the Robert Covington to the Los Angeles Clippers transaction. Will the Blazers use any of it? With potential big transactions around Kevin Durant and/or Donovan Mitchell coming in the next few days, the Blazers could perhaps find themselves in a position to move some players/money around in a 2-for-1 swap to get their roster back down to the preferred count of 14 AND have the ability to better balance the front court. The Jazz have put a “everything must go” sign out front and the idea of either working in on a megadeal to help facilitate or by peeling off a player such as Jarred Vanderbilt would be the best reasonable business Portland could find, but how/will they do it? Hop on in with Danny and Brandon as they move through the ins and outs of it all and get ready for the 4th and perhaps final game of Summer League tonight! Learn more about your ad choices. The 2022 NBA Draft is in the books and the Portland Trail Blazers surprised everyone by using their #7 overall pick on Kentucky Wildcat (technically, it counts) Shaedon Sharp and followed that up with using the #57 overall pick on Colorado Buffalo, Jabari Walker. Now, hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague take a look at what it all means and where the Trail Blazers go from here. The Blazers opted not to finalize a deal for Toronto Raptor OG Anunoby, instead they made it known that in order for them to move off of the #7 overall pick that they would need to be “wowed” by an offer. Does this create a roster imbalance similar to one we saw under former GM Neil Olshey? Does taking a rookie at the guard spot mean that the organization is trying to live on multiple time lines or do they truly believe he can get on the floor and be a difference maker now? Then, we’ll look to free agency and Summer League to try to forecast the next steps for the Blazers and the first time we’ll see Sharpe and Walker on the floor. It’s NBA Draft week and Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague are taking on your questions in an hour long mail bag extravaganza! Between rumors, workouts, news breaks and everything in between, there’s been no shortage of discussion topics as the Blazers head into the biggest changeover the franchise has seen in at least 6 seasons and with those changes come questions. On this episode Danny and Brandon give somewhat bold predictions for expectations on the NBA Draft and who they see possibly falling short of expectations. Is Chet Holmgren really a unicorn? Does Ben Mathurin profile like a lead scoring guard or is he more reminiscent of Ben McLemore? With the Stepien Rule possibly holding the Blazers pick right until they make it - does that effect the timing of what we may see for a potential trade involving that pick? If it came down to it, would you be “okay” with the Blazers using the 7th overall pick and not looking to compete now based on expectations the franchise has laid out? What does a “good, better, best” scenario look like for Portland following the NBA Draft and what constitutes a successful Draft day? If you had to rank OG Anunoby, John Collins, Jerami Grant, using the pick and everything else the Blazers have been linked to - what looks most likely and where does that line up with what they need to get done? That and more on this week’s mail bag show! With only a week until the NBA Draft , Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague take a look at all of the news, notes and rumors around the NBA and tying to the Portland Trail Blazers on the latest Jacked Ramsays live show! The rumor of the day? The possibility of the Blazers moving back in the Draft, swapping 7 for the Oklahoma City Thunder ’s Lu Dort and the #12 pick. Would it make sense for the Blazers to look to add “pieces” to work with if other options ran out in front of them with players like Deandre Ayton, OG Anunoby and John Collins - didn’t pan out? As it pertains to Ayton, are talks around the Suns big man dying down? Are the Blazers focused on other player and/or other positions or are the Phoenix Suns looking for something the Blazers don’t have? Adrian Wojnarowski stated that “The Pistons, Pacers , Wizards and Knicks are all in talks with the Kings about trading up to No. 4 overall for Jaden Ivey” - how will that shake up the NBA Draft? What would it cost a team to move into the top 4 of the Draft and could Portland possibly be involved? Hop on in and get involved now on the latest live show! Learn more about your ad choices. On this Mail Bag Episode of Jacked Ramsays, Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague take on your pressing questions less than 2 weeks away from the NBA Draft. With all of the smoke around OG Anunoby, Deandre Ayton, John Collins and Jerami Grant - how likely are the Blazers to land any of them? Could they actually secure two with their asset pool? What does that look like financially? If the Blazers stumbled into the most impressive offseason in franchise history - turning away form the Neil Olshey era and into the Joe Cronin one by landing viable talent beyond expectations... what next? Even if the Blazers did the unthinkable and acquired 2 of the above players - does that put them into title contention? If not, what are the next steps the franchise would need to take in order to elevate themselves into that conversation? While it’s hard to narrow down Mid-Level Exception targets without knowing just who Portland will land during/around the NBA Draft, but with Free Agency right around the corner- who are the names that the Blazers could be looking at to fill out their overhauled roster? We’ll cover that and more on the latest Mail Bag Jacked Ramsays Live Show! SUBSCRIBE: YouTube, Twitch, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google and Anywhere You Get Podcasts! Learn more about your ad choices. It’s a Jacked Ramsays Mail Bag where hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague answer as many listener questions as they can in an hour. The biggest news for the Blazers, perhaps in over 20+ years dropped this week as Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN tweeted out that former Nike founder and CEO Phil Knight (along with real estate mogul and partial owner of the LA Dodgers, Alan Smolinisky) submitted a written bid north of $2billion for the Portland Trail Blazers. With that much of the show focused on the ins and outs of the potential deal - how Portland as an organization and city could benefit and the likelihood of it all coming together. Beyond the major news, the Blazers continue to be linked in rumors to the Toronto Raptors’ OG Anunoby, the Phoenix Suns’ Deandre Ayton, the Atlanta Hawks’ John Collins and to the Detroit Pistons’ Jerami Grant by various outlets and reporters. With less than 3 weeks to the NBA Draft, the Blazers appear to be ramping up the noise and/or smoke around their desire to make a big move with the assets they currently have on hand. Speaking of the Draft, after bringing in G-League Ignite’s Dyson Daniels for their first post NBA Draft combine workout. With Daniels being mocked in the region the Blazers are slotted to pick, this lines up with what General Manager Joe Cronin as stated the team will do - establishing value of the pick, which includes getting eyes on players that could be available at #7. This also include Bennedict Mathurin of the University of Arizona, who held a private workout at the Blazer’s practice facility but also denied the request to speak with local media following said workout. While not a major problem, it does look like Mathurin’s camp is trying to protect their client at all costs leading up to the draft. No player has ever fallen in the Draft for failing to speak to local media following a closed door workout. It’s a full hour with Marang and Sprague covering any and all the breaking news while answering the biggest questions submitted - so tap in and get watch and/or listen as the guys fill in all the blanks. Rafael Barlowe of NBA Draft Big Board and LockedOnNBA joins Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague to take a look what the Portland Trail Blazers are facing leading up to the NBA Draft night. Together the trio hits on potential prospects that could be within in range for the Trail Blazers at pick #7, starting with the first high profile name attached to the Blazers by their first workout - G-League Ignite’s Dyson Daniels. Barlowe discusses Daniels’ late rise (without any games being played) from mid-lottery to early 20’s a few months ago to now being a potential top 5 pick. AJ Griffin, Keegan Murray and another dark-harse candidate in Shaedon Sharpe - and how they’d fit in Portland are all up for debate. Assessing value to the #7 pick is something that Blazers GM Joe Cronin has said the Blazers will continue to evaluate - so, Barlowe attempts to lay out the value of the pick in this class against a few others and just how deep this draft class is. Beyond the draft class, Danny and Brandon ask Rafael his thought on the value of the pick in trades as Portland has been linked with multiple higher end young players like OG Anunoby and Deandre Ayton in the last 2 weeks. Where would he draw the line on a return and what makes the most sense for the Blazers now and in the future? It’s an hour plus of a deep dive into the decisions the Blazers face in a little less than 3 weeks with the Draft rapidly approaching. On this edition of Jacked Ramsays Live, hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague discuss the second big name the Portland Trail Blazers have been linked to nationally, OG Anunoby. Joining Deandre Ayton, Anunoby is a player that answers a lot of questions the Blazers have been asking for years about their frontcourt - can he defend? Does he have size? Is there any semblance of offense in his game? Both players tick those boxes and while Ayton wants max money, Anunoby is on what most consider to be an incredibly valuable deal - slotting under 20m AAV. Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report states that: “Following a standout season from Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes, word has circulated among rival front offices that Anunoby grew dissatisfied at times with his role in Toronto, where Barnes joined Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet as the primary ball-handlers in Nick Nurse’s offense.” Which, if you’ve been following along this offseason is something that has been discussed at length. Now, it’s gone semi-public with Fischer highlighting that a formal request from either Anunoby or his representatives (read: Klutch Sports) has not yet materialized. However, what appears to be transpiring is the Blazers are linked to and going after impact players that make sense for the now timeline and the later. Hop on with Brandon and Danny as they work through Fischer’s reporting and see what’s next. SUBSCRIBE: YouTube, Twitch, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google and Anywhere You Get Podcasts! Thursday evening, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that Mike Schmitz - Draft Analyst for ESPN, formerly of Draft Express, was being hired by the Portland Trail Blazers to become an Assistant GM. Since the dismissal of Neil Olshey in December for creating a hostile working environment, multiple changes have taken place. Proceeding Olshey’s dismissal, Chris McGowan resigned his position as President while Chief Marketing Officer Dwayne Hankins was promoted internally to fill the same seat. The same was true of now GM Joe Cronin, who in Olshey’s absence stepped in as interim GM until recently being given the full time gig. Jason Quick of The Athletic noted yesterday some additional changes the Blazers have made since mid-December. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they took a look at recent front office moves and what that may mean for the Blazers coming up. Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they breakdown the big news of the day: Joe Cronin has been appointed the General Manager of the Portland Trail Blazers. In entirely unrelated news, Brian Windhorst of ESPN said on the Hoop Collective podcast today that the Portland Trail Blazers might be a landing spot for Klutch Sports client and upcoming free agent of the Chicago Bulls, Zach LaVine. In order to clear such room for the Blazers to sign LaVine, they would need to renounce Anfernee Simons, Joe Ingles and Jusuf Nurkic to even have a chance of creating the necessary room. Is there any truth to the noise or is this Klutch doing their best to shake free the best possible offers for their client? Could Portland partake in such a ploy to curry favor with the most powerful organization in the league currently? They’ll hit on that and take a look at the NBA Draft Lottery that is less than a week away and more! Tap in and jump on the show live! Join Danny Marang live with special guest Ricky O’Donnell of SBNation as they take a look at the upcoming NBA Draft . Togethe r they’ll preview Ricky’s big board - evaluating where he deviates from others, who he really believes in and who he’d rather stay away from. Does he have a surprise #1 overall pick? Does he buy into Chet Holmgren long-term or does someone like Paolo Banchero or Jabari Smith Jr make for the safer and/or more effective play? With the NBA Lottery less than 2 weeks away, the Trail Blazers have a 37.2% chance of jumping into the top 4 and a 9% chance of landing the number one overall pick. While it’s great to dream, the more likely scenario is that they’re picking between 6-8. With that, who in that range makes the most sense for right now and/or the future? As guard heavy as Portland is, if the best player available is guard-esque such as Jaden Ivey (unlikely to be there, but still) or Shaedon Sharpe - does Portland need to take the risk of bloating the guard position to make sure they get the most bang for their buck? Or, should the Blazers factor in Damian Lillard’s timeline and look to who’s most ready now - say perhaps Keegan Murray? Finally, we’ll ask Ricky what he would do if he were in charge in Portland. If the pick landed Top 4 and there was an offer on the table for OG Anunoby or Deandre Ayton - would he rather have the sure thing or the rookie scale option and look more towards the future? Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague on this episode of Jacked Ramsays Live. They’ll take a look at the upcoming group of free agents as the official offseason moves a step closer. Danny and Brandon will also discuss the impact of Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets getting swept by Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics . What does that do to the landscape? Could big changes in Brooklyn cause a domino effect throughout the league that forces teams to change their offseason plans? (Like, perhaps Ben Simmons and/or Kyrie Irving being put on the trade block?) The Trail Blazers will almost certainly have access to the full Mid-Level Exception (~$10.3m) this summer. What players and/or position groups might they look to target? Invest it all in a back up 5-man like Mo Bamba or Thomas Bryant? Target a 3⁄4 like Kyle Anderson or TJ Warren? Or maybe they split it up and focus on a younger, potential upswing player like Jalen Smith and paying a bit more than a vet minimum to outbid other teams for depth elsewhere? While the class of free agents isn’t great, Portland is motivated to get back on track after a “gap year” situation. After losing out on the New Orleans Pelicans ’ lottery pick there’s less room for error around the rest of the roster. So tap in as the guys go over and debate which way the Blazers could go with the tools at their disposal. SUBSCRIBE: YouTube, Twitch, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google and Anywhere You Get Podcasts! Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague live as they take on as many questions as they can in this one-hour live show! Following the New Orleans Pelicans ’ playoff berth, the Portland Trail Blazers lost a second lottery pick heading into the 2022 NBA Draft and the 2022 offseason “Great Reshaping” of the Blazers roster. Without that additional lottery pick, where do they go? Could a deal still be done for Jerami Grant? Could the Blazers cobble together enough with the 2025 Bucks 1st round pick, a young player and Eric Bledsoe’s contract to get Grant or a player at least within range of him in contribution department? Interim GM Joe Cronin has said that they would evaluate the value of their own lottery pick after they know its standing versus what they could use it for on the open market to acquire a player for. Obviously Grant’s name has been out there — but what about a player such as OG Anunoby shaking free in Toronto? Would a Top 6-7 lottery pick be enough to convince GM Masai Ujiri to let him go? Toronto has a core of Fred VanVleet, Gary Trent Jr, Scottie Barnes, and Pascal Siakam alongside Anunoby and Precious Achiuwa. However, Toronto has wanted to add traditional size to their roster. There were rumors around the Portland Trail Blazers and Jusuf Nurkic multiple times over the past year. With Anunoby another player represented by Klutch Sports, could there perhaps be an alliance brewing with the mega-agency? Then, they will also take a look at tiers, which players fall where, and mixing in with some recent NBA comparisons where available. When looking at the likes of Keegan Murray, AJ Griffin, Shaedon Sharpe and others — where are they now versus where could they be in the near future? Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague with special guest, Sean Highkin of Bleacher Report to run down the exit interviews today by the Portland Trail Blazers . Interim GM Joe Cronin was joined by Coach Chauncey Billups and players Josh Hart and Anfernee Simons as the only members of the franchise made available after their season came to an end Sunday evening, with a record of 27-55 missing the playoffs for the first time in 9 years and cementing the third worst season in franchise history. The “what now” is what’s on the menu - the NBA Draft Lottery is 35 days away, the New Orleans Pelicans play the San Antonio Spurs Wednesday night where a loss will send them out of the play in tournament immediately and increase the likelihood of the pick they owe the Blazers in the CJ McCollum trade conveying. Once the lottery happens and the Blazers know what they have in their hands to work with - they can take on the task of working the phone lines as potential playoff hopefuls fall out of the race and Portland looks to bolster a squad that was stripped down to nothing. Whether you’re interested in the NCAA Championship game’s remaining NBA Draft eligible players like Ochai Agbaji or Armando Bacot, we’ll make sure we cover all the angles of tonight’s game as well as what NCAA players made the biggest push up the ladder during the tournament, who fell down and what the Mock Draft Board starts to look like. Who will Portland take in the draft certainly hinges on where their own pick and potentially one conveyed by the New Orleans Pelicans lands, but if you’re allowing yourself to dream, is it Paolo Banchero or Jabari Smith Jr at number one? Perhaps you favor the bold and want to swing for Chet Holmgren? What if it lands between picks 4-6? What separates Jaden Ivey, Keegan Murray and AJ Griffin for the Blazers and do you look for fit or best player available? The offseason is only a week away for some teams, those headed to the playoffs could be there sooner than expected. If the Utah Jazz fall on their face, it appears they could be headed for a major overhaul - would or should the Blazers get involved for a deal for Jazz center Rudy Gobert if he becomes available? The Portland Trail Blazers get the tank back on track in Atlanta, dropping the first game of a 5-game trip for the Blazers, 122-113. While the Blazers are clearly leaning heavily on the idea of ping pong balls at the NBA Draft lottery, they’ve now figured out that losing by historic margins doesn’t actually improve their odds and as such have found ways to make the past couple games a bit more competitive. The player leading the charge? None other than Josh Hart, who followed up his 44-point bid with a 31-point, 7-rebound, 4-assist night. Plus we saw ANOTHER 20+ point performance from Trendon Watford (22 points, 9 rebounds) serving as the...what 6th version of a Blazers 1-2 punch this season? The Blazers now head off to New York to take on the Knicks and then to Brooklyn for the Nets (Portland might even stay in the same hotel?) before a back-to-back against the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they marvel at the futility on display from the Portland Trail Blazers tonight against the Utah Jazz. A game that saw the Blazers go down by 50 points, not clear 50 points through three quarters and ultimately lose by...checking calculator, carry the 7...A LOT, OK? This comes on the heels of the worst 5-game stretch in NBA history with regards to margin of defeat, which has now been extended to the most egregious losing streak in NBA history by a game. Suffice it to say, the Blazers organization understands the assignment. There were once rumors that the Blazers didn’t truly think they should/could tank. It’s become very clear now that this version is one of the least, if not the least, talented teams in the NBA. There’s a universe out there where they do not win another game this season and find themselves squarely in the running for a top 4 pick. Join us to chat about whether that possibility can come true. Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report joins host Danny Marang for a special Jacked Ramsays where they take a look back over the transition for the Portland Trail Blazers from the beginning of the season until now and then look ahead to what’s next. Setting the table of where and when discussions around CJ McCollum began, the possibility that Portland could have received Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart last summer (or even the deadline before) and why the Blazers did what they did in the end, sending McCollum and Larry Nance Jr to New Orleans for essentially Josh Hart, a protected 1st round pick and salary relief. Beyond that, where does that leave Portland now? While Jerami Grant was pursued rather heavily up to the final buzzer of the trade deadline, what does it mean now - where will Portland turn in the summer? Is Grant the only name out there? Jaylen Brown and Aaron Gordon were names in the past and the present that Damian Lillard has mentioned - could landing one top end wing to the roster make another player want to join that previously wasn’t in the mix? Finally, where does Jusuf Nurkic sit in the Blazers’ plans going forward. Join Danny Marang as he takes a look at the Portland Trail Blazers’ 3rd straight loss of 30 points or more with Wednesday night’s defeat coming at the hands of the Phoenix Suns, 120-90. Long story short, this is what you can expect for the remainder of the season. The Blazers don’t have the talent (purposefully) right now to compete. It’s very clear that the team is looking to get the best odds possible to get into the top 4 of the NBA Draft. However, in every night there will be glimpses to enjoy. Normally, it will be the play of Anfernee Simons - pulling up off the bounce, getting down hill and hitting an unreal floater or ripping a one-handed pass to the second-side corner. Other times, like tonight, you’ll see Trendon Watford put together a stat line; 13 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists that makes you raise an eyebrow about what he could be down the road. Then there’s the much more in your face example of Greg Brown III absolutely banging on JaVale McGee that makes you want to tune in for GB3’s every minute. Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at Sunday night’s game between the Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets that saw the Blazers fall 124-92. All in all, it was a very similar tale to previous outings with the starting unit setting the tone: getting out in transition and playing a revved up version of the new Blazers. However, their shooting waned (even from Anfernee Simons) and with ZERO margin for error, the veteran Nuggets picked apart Portland possession by possession. Without Jusuf Nurkic to anchor the middle the size of the Nuggets was often too much to overcome. Even though Nikola Jokic scored only 8 points, Denver hammered home 62 points in the paint as Portland just didn’t have the size to deter drives or contest post-up opportunities. Portland now embarks on what should be one of their toughest road trips of the season, playing the Phoenix Suns , Minnesota Timberwolves twice, and then the Utah Jazz - all teams with significant size advantages that Portland likely won’t have an answer for. Hop on in and talk about tonight’s game, what’s coming up and have eyes toward the NCAA tournament right over the horizon. On a special 1 On 1 edition of Jacked Ramsays, Danny Marang is joined by Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons to take stock of where... well everything sits as it pertains to this version of the Portland Trail Blazers. Anfernee talks about the backing of the Trail Blazers organization and how after much change, he’s finding himself in new and exciting territory. The discussion shifts to what Simons is looking to focus on post all star break - while he discusses; playmaking, defense, all the normal parts of development he also points out a larger adaption that’s taking place for him right now. From there it’s about taking on the mantle of primary option every night and every obstacle that an opponent throws at him every night. How is he adjusting and what is he looking at going into the summer to get to the next step in his development. There he highlights wanting to read the floor like Chris Paul - where it’s second nature and you see everything. One of his signs of development over the last year has been his ability to get to the rim - but even more the addition of one of the most lethal floater games in the NBA. Ant talks about applying feedback from the coaching staff regarding getting to the rim instantly. Simons goes on to talk about his emotional investment, adding things to his game immediately, how his father was shocked by his passing growth, his relationship with coach Chauncey Billups and a whole lot more. With the NBA All-Star break right around the corner, hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague are switching it up a bit: instead of a taped mailbag show, we’re getting a live mailbag show! On this live show, the guys will dive into as many questions as they can about the immediate future of the Portland Trail Blazers . What makes a better team, one with top end talent or one with pieces that fit together for a system perfectly? What would or could that look like for the Blazers? If the Basketball Gods smile upon Portland and they land in the top of the NBA Draft where a pick of Chet Holmgren, Jabari Smith or Paolo Banchero is there, does that change the thought process for Portland pursuing Jerami Grant? Was this new version of the Blazers underestimated? Do you feel like the tough schedule coming up maybe isn’t AS tough after their performance against the Milwaukee Bucks — even without Giannis Antetokounmpo? That and more on this LIVE Mail Bag show! Call an ambulance...but not for the Trail Blazers! The Portland Trail Blazers, er baby Blazers, er the new look Blazers... whatever you want to call them went into Milwaukee and handed the Bucks a big ol’ loss - 122-107. The first win for the Blazers in Milwaukee since 2013! Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at what be the victory of the year for the Blazers - considering all that has transpired. Even with Giannis Antetokounmpo out with a bum ankle, the Bucks still have most of their NBA championship team with two pillars in Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton active and healthy - yet the best player on the floor tonight was 22 year old Anfernee Simons who continues to show that he’s ready to be a star in the NBA. What, if anything does a 3-game winning streak mean for the potential of the Trail Blazers to “tank?” Is this a couple of decent wins with one against the Bucks that perhaps the opponent overlooked? Or have the Blazers truly found who’s next in the pantheon of Blazers superstars in Anfernee Simons? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Oops. The message that the Portland Trail Blazers are supposed to be tanking and dropping games hasn’t hit home yet as the Blazers win their second game in a row, defeating the New York Knicks in come from behind fashion, 112-103. Join Danny Marang as he takes a look at Satuday afternoon’s game that saw the Blazers go down 23 points at one point but then outscored the Knicks 35-11 in the 4th quarter. Behind another monster performance from Anfernee Simons (30 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds) and the addition/arrival/debut of wing Josh Hart (23 points, 2 assists) the Blazers outscored the Knicks 53-21 over the final 16:55 of the game. After wins against the struggling Los Angeles Lakers and lowly New York Knicks, the Blazers take on an absolute gauntlet over the next 5 games - the Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Girzzlies, Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns. Thankfully for the Blazers, they have the All Star break sandwiched in between to break things up - but it’s probably safe to say after a couple of wins that Portland likely falls back in the standings in short order. Doesn’t mean you don’t enjoy the wins when they come so hop on the show and have fun! SUBSCRIBE: YouTube, Twitch, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google and Anywhere You Get Podcasts! Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at what was an incredibly busy NBA Trade Deadline Day. While the Portland Trail Blazers weren’t active, the league as a whole was - the Ben Simmons saga came to an end with a trade to Brooklyn Nets for James Harden. Multiple reports had pegged Portland as a potential landing space for Simmons if the Philadelphia 76ers were able to pursue Harden in the offseason as a free agent - as the Blazers would have the cap space to absorb Simmons without needing to send back matching salary. The Blazers were also linked by multiple sources to pursuing Jerami Grant of the Detroit Pistsons before the final bell, but the asking price of two first round picks was too excessive for the Blazers - and any other suitors at this time. While coming up shorthanded right now, those same sources expect talks to resume around trading Grant this summer around the time of the NBA Draft. Following the deadline closing, Interim GM Joe Cronin, President Dewayne Hankins and Coach Chauncey Billups hosted a press conference laying out what the goals were, how they achieved them and what the loose hopes and dreams are going forward. Hop on the stream and take it all in, it’s going to be an exciting ride - the Blazers have options, and the guys are going to lay them all out for you! Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they go over Wednesday night’s game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Lakers... a game that saw a healthy Lebron James and Anthony Davis get outplayed by a built on the fly, young scrappy Portland team, who earned the 107-105 win. After an abysmal first half from Anfernee Simons, he came out ROARING to start the third quarter, dropping 25 points the final two frames and 29 points on the evening, Simons will get top billing but the role players, heck the deeeeeeep role players, pushed up in their pecking orders due to trades; CJ Elleby, Greg Brown III, KELJIN BLEVINS. All delivered some of their best performances as young pros. Beyond a fun win over the Lakers, join the guys to take a look at the upcoming trade deadline that’s only 14 hours away. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at breaking news Tuesday morning that saw the Portland Trail Blazers trade: CJ McCollum, Larry Nance Jr., and Tony Snell to the New Orleans Pelicans for Josh Hart, Tomas Satoransky, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Didi Louzada, a 2022 protected 1st round pick, and two 2nd round picks. The trade marks an end to the Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum era — one that saw a magical run to the Western Conference Finals and an unceremonious exit in the 1st round to a wildly short handed Denver Nuggets team. What happens from here? Are the Blazers done? No: they have too many players on the roster currently so more moves are coming. However, could Jerami Grant or Myles Turner be on the table? The Blazers will have more cap space than they’ve had in the modern era heading into next season: if the Philadelphia 76ers wanted to create a max slot to sign James Harden, could a disgruntled Ben Simmons fit the bill? It’s a Monday Mail Bag edition of the Jacked Ramsays podcast where hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague do their best to answer as many of your questions as possible. With less than 3 days remaining before the NBA Trade Deadline February 10th and the Portland Trail Blazers having already made a significant change to the roster; sending out Norman Powell and Robert Covington - two starters, and taking back Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslow, Keon Johnson and a 2nd round pick - many are wondering.. what gives? The Blazer got under the luxury tax, but that doesn’t help “the team” in any tangible way a fan can like and/or appreciate so what comes next? Was Jusuf Nurkic’s comment to Jason Quick only weeks ago around how interim GM Joe Cronin told him that the Blazers would look to build around Nurkic, CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard not quite as solid of a commitment? Are the Blazers looking more towards the future and building around Lillard and Anfernee Simons? Will the Blazers look to move on from both McCollum AND Nurkic in such a short period? Are the Blazers having a rebuild on the fly that hasn’t been acknowledged? What will the Blazers do with Eric Bledsoe’s contract - is he going to play for them? Tune in and find out! Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague for an emergency live Jacked Ramsays show where they take a look at today’s breaking news and trade that sent Robert Covington and Norman Powell from the Portland Trail Blazers for Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslow, Keon Johnson and a future 2nd round pick from the Los Angeles Clippers as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. What does it all mean? There was constant noise around Covington and possible destinations but the return was looked at as less than what the Blazers gave up two years ago (two 1st round picks, Trevor Ariza) — significantly so. Meanwhile, Norman Powell was viewed as a good player on a solid contract that perhaps went out a year or two too many but ultimately there was value in the deal. So how do those two pieces end up netting the Blazers this return? What happens next? Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at tonight’s game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Blazers fell 99-94, bringing their 4 game road trip to an end with a 1-3 record and their overall record to 21-31. That’s 10 games below .500 with 4 home games remaining before the NBA trade deadline. For much of the evening the Blazers were running in front of the Lakers, capitalizing on miscues - at one point outscoring the Lakers on turnovers 21 to 0. However, shooting under 36% on the evening coupled with second half turnovers doomed the Blazers down the stretch. Outside of Norman Powell (30 points, 5-11 from distance)- none of the Blazers shot well. Anfernee Simons was able to save an 0-4 start with a 7-14 finish, but the bar he’s set lately leaves more to be desired. Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they try to figure out how the Portland Trail Blazers fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder , 98-81. Thanks to a mercy bucket from Tony Snell, the Blazers were able to eclipse 20 points in a period for the second time tonight following their 31-point first quarter. They filled in the second and third periods with 16 and 14 points respectively - displaying some of the worst production of the season and looking eerily similar to the dog days of December. Is this a one game situation for a team that’s spent a lot of time on the road? Is this a sign of things to come? With less than 2 weeks before the NBA trade deadline , and notes of the Blazers running it back with the core of Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic - games like this, no matter how shorthanded they are - have to ring bells at the offices of One Center Court. The Portland Trail Blazers opted for an offense only approach for the afternoon against the Chicago Bulls and shockingly, it did not work out. The Blazers fell to the Bulls 130-116 with a back to back looming in Oklahoma City Monday. Anfernee Simons, Norman Powell and CJ McCollum combine for 72 points and 12 made 3’s and despite that, fall dramatically short of the Bulls who shot 55 percent from the field, 40 percent from three and 90 percent from the free throw line. Throw in the velvet roped path to the rim that the Blazers put up for the Bulls for most of the evening and well, it’s easy to see where things went wrong. Join Danny Marang as he breaks down Sunday’s loss to the Bulls and looks ahead to the match up with the Thunder who will be without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for at least the next week and whom the Blazers play twice in the next 5 days. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at tonight’s game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Houston Rockets . The Blazers got another road win on game one of a four-game trip, but it didn’t come quite as easily as the 125-110 final score would indicate. A young and athletic Rockets team put on a dunk contest in the third quarter - where it felt like every shot was either an uncontested dunk or a slightly contested dunk that saw a Blazers defender get postered. It was not pretty. No matter, the Blazer’s shooting prowess (hello Anfernee Simons and CJ McCollum) allowed them to gently climb out of the shallow hole they had dug while Jusuf Nurkic did enough “being big” in the middle to deny the easier opportunities that were previously available.. Along with tonight’s game and a look ahead to the Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder , Danny and Brandon will discuss Jason Quick of The Athletic’s most recent article and what it may mean for Blazers going forward. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague live as they discuss today’s news around Nassir Little’s injury - a torn labrum in his should - that will likely force him to miss significant time this season. While the Portland Trail Blazers may have been holding course on the year, neither ‘embracing the tank’ nor ‘pushing for the play-in’ - does this injury to Little change the calculus? Could this injury also force Portland to re-evaluate potential deals at the ever-nearing Trade Deadline of February 10th? With Damian Lillard likely done for the year and Little right alongside him - 2 of the 3 centerpieces of the franchise going forward (protect Anfernee Simons at all costs - ship him in bubble wrap to games) - could this tempt the Blazers to do something they’ve said they don’t want to do? (See: “Don’t ____ with the game”) After that it’s a look around the league as Danny and Brandon assess local and national trade rumors and how they may impact Portland, the upcoming 4-game road trip and where the Blazers sit in the Tankathon rankings. For the second time in two nights the Blazers fall at home, this time in a very clear fashion as the Dallas Mavericks come into Portland and housed the Blazers 132-112. The Blazers haven’t added anyone to the roster that has anything close to answer for Luka Doncic or Kristaps Porzingis and it showed. The Mavs as a team shot 55 percent from the floor and 44 percent from distance, which is going to end up in a Blazers loss more often than not. The evening wasn’t a total loss as Anfernee Simons rebounded well after his poor showing last night against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a sterling 23 points and 7 assists, while the bench group of Ben McLemore, Trendon Watford and CJ Elleby continue to find ways to impact the game on a nightly basis. In a game that saw the Blazers go up by THIRTY-FOUR points against a Raptors team that looked as extinct as their namesake, they were able to close the gap to make you question whether or not the Blazers would be able to hold off the veteran squad, but a Anfernee Simons three and a Nassir Little dunk in the closing minute were enough to clear space and secure the win. Closing out a 4-2 road trip that has everyone wondering if this is actually the team that the Blazers should rally around. The Blazers closed an 11-point gap to beat the Celtics, 109-105 picking up their third win on this six-game road trip - more than doubling their previous total thus far all year. Jusuf Nurkic put up perhaps his best night as a Blazer - filling the box score with 29 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists. While he’s had monster output nights before, rarely has he done it against teams not associated with the NBA cellar (hello, Sacramento Kings !) This was an excuse-free dominant night. The Portland Trail Blazers fall to the Miami Heat , 102-94 to even up their road trip to a tidy 2-2 with games remaining against the Boston Celtics and the Toronto Raptors . Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague for the live post game show where they’ll take a look at tonight’s game including: The Blazers were once again led by Anfernee Simons, with 27 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds. CJ McCollum backed him up with 24 points, 4 assists and 2 steals. It was a very common scene for Blazers fans as the backcourt bombed away from deep- shooting 10-23 from behind the 3-point line. Jusuf Nurkic filled in around the edges with another monster double-double: 18 points and 14 rebounds. However, the flip side of this is that Miami’s Bam Adebayo was a 4th quarter wrecking crew, leading the Heat from behind by quarterbacking a suffocating defense that held Portland to only 12 points in the period. Adebayo finished the game with; 20 points, 11 rebounds, 5 steals, 4 assists and 3 blocks - dominating on every inch of the floor. Jimmy Butler was ejected for bull rushing an official and Caleb Martin stepped up to drop 26 points off the bench. This Heat team even short 3 of their top 4 (Kyle Lowry and Tyler Herro both out for the night) dictated much of the 2nd half with their IQ and physicality. Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they tackle all of your trade deadline questions with less than a month remaining before the clock strikes midnight and the Blazer’s roster hopes turn into a pumpkin again. Among them: “Looking through cleaning the glass I’m curious why Jerami grant is on any team’s list of trade candidates. He doesn’t appear to be any better than a good bench player. He makes 20m per and is gonna want a new 100m-ish extension. Walk us through it please.” Diving into why the Portland Trail Blazers would want Jerami Grant from the Detroit Pistons. As well as: “Not sold on Myles Turner, the few times I’ve watched him most of his blocks come from getting beat by his own man and the coming with the chase down block. Not impactful, just like Caitlyn Cooper has said?” Being sold on whether or not it makes sense to add Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers - citing Pacers expert and all around wonderful analyst and friend of the show, Caitlin Cooper . While also addressing what may be one of the bigger and more important questions as it pertains to the man behind the deals: “With the interim tag pretty much being removed for joe Cronin, is Marc Eversley still possible for president of basketball Ops? Why would Joe Cronin be interested in a symbolic title raise while still being number 2?” Dive into those questions and a lot more on this extended version of the Jacked Ramsays Mail Bag show. The Po rtland Trail Blazers p ick up their 2nd win on this season long six-game road trip, beating the Or lando Magic 9 9-88, on the back of Jusuf Nurkic’s monster box score night finishing with 21 points and 22 rebounds. CJ McCollum made his return after more than a month out and looked... well, like CJ McCollum - 16 points (7-13 FG) & 2 assists - picking and choosing his moments to attack off the bounce as only McCollum can. Nassir Little had an impressive game on the glass finishing with 5 offensive rebounds, keeping possessions alive regularly in the first half as both teams struggled to get anything goin offensively. Also chipped in 4 assists while wanting to dunk someone into another dimension at every opportunity. Little keeps finding ways to impact the game without needing the ball much. In a low scoring, poor shooting night - Anfernee Simons stayed comfortably in the background picking a spot here or there while struggling from deep (0-5 3FG). It was all Anfernee Simons all the time for the Portland Trail Blazers as Simons led the Blazers to a win on the road (their third of the year) over the Washington Wizards , 115-110. Simons spearheaded the attack with a monster first half - 26 points on 7 made 3’s. He finished with 31 points and 11 assists, forcing a conversation to take place... is Simons too good to allow the Blazers to tank? Simons wasn’t alone on the night as Jusuf Nurkic (23 points, 14 rebounds), Robert Covington (15 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals) and Nassir Little (18 points) - found a way to make impacts up and down the roster. The Blazers bounced back from a monster beating in Denver against the Nuggets to pick up a win in DC. That brings their record on the current road trip to 1-1 with the Orlando Magic (and the return of CJ McCollum) up next. Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague take a look at today’s breaking news: Damian Lillard’s surgery happened, CJ McCollum had a baby (with his wife), the Trail Blazer hired a new Assistant General Manager- Andrae Patterson, oh and the Blazers took on the Denver Nuggets in Denver to kick off a 6-game road trip, losing 140-108. With the loss, the Blazers (10th) are now only 2 games ahead of 14th place Oklahoma City for a bottom 5 worst record in the league. With Lillard likely out for the season and the continued absences of multiple starters & contributors (McCollum, Norman Powell, Anfernee Simons, Larry Nance Jr.), this is what most of the remaining season will probably look like. Hunting for good performances from Nassir Little and Simons - watching rookies Trendon Watford and Greg Brown III make mistakes - that’s the vision for the next few months and that’s not a bad thing. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague for an impromptu live show following the news from multiple sources and outlets that Damian Lillard has opted for surgery following two different recommendations from specialists on his ailing abdominal issues. With the Blazers about to embark on a season long 6 game road trip, the decision for Lillard to undergo what will most likely end up as “season ending” surgery fits with a shift within the organization to soft reset this year - chasing a Top 5 lottery pick in a time they shouldn’t/wouldn’t normally have a shot. Much like the San Antonio Spurs with Tim Duncan or the Golden State Warriors with both Harrison Barnes AND James Wiseman - good teams that found themselves in a position to add talent via the lottery and enabling those teams to get right back into the fold. Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at Monday night’s Portland Trail Blazers win over the Brooklyn Nets . The Blazers won 114-108 on the backs of Anfernee Simons, Robert Covington, and Ben McLemore. The baby Blazers got it done again - Simons set a new career high with 11 assists to go with 23 points and 6 rebounds, while Covington scored 21 points on 5-7 from distance. McLemore dropped 20 more on 5-8 from three point range. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving just couldn’t keep pace with a Blazers team that was active defensively and opportunistic from deep - while Simons kept the Nets off balance inside the 3-point line. Have the Blazers found something without the help of Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum and Norman Powell? No - of course not. But, handing the keys over to Simons with Lillard out has allowed Simons to step into the bright lights on the big stage and he is SHINING! It may be cold outside but it was awfully hot inside Moda Center tonight between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Miami Heat tonight. Miami leaves with a 115-109 victory over Portland, but not before both Kyle Lowry and Tyler Herro were ejected alongside Jusuf Nurkic for the Blazers. It wasn’t the best-played game, with Portland struggling to do anything offensively in the first half outside of getting to and making free throws. The ejection of Lowry allowed Anfernee Simons to go absolutely nuclear in the 3rd quarter following his 18 point performance in the 3rd against the Atlanta Hawks with a 20 point explosion in the 3rd quarter against the Heat. You get what is probably the best of both worlds here - young players getting real reps in games that have consequences still, while not winning a game and keeping the lottery numbers as high as you can possibly be. A game that saw Trae Young go for 56 points and 14 assists, also saw Anfernee Simons for for43 points and 7 assists - with some inspired play from Jusuf Nurkic down the stretch that was equal parts nail biting and unbelievably calming. Nurkic finished the night with numerous boneheaded plays but also balanced it out with absolutely captivating finishes at the rim and clutch free throws - to the tune of 21 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. It was the FULL Jusuf Nurkic Experience. While he won’t get the headlines, Nassir Little put together a stellar offensive performance as well - 22 points and 9 rebounds, shooting 4-for-5 from behind the 3-point line. All in all, it was the kind of night Portland needed - even if they opt to “tank” the season. Even during the longest of poor stretches, a good performance that indicates growth and experience and results in a positive outcome.... it’s good to see. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague on a Jacked Ramsays Mail Bag special - where they tackle as many of your questions as they can. On this weeks dive, a lot of folks want to know - but more than anything, should/would/could the Trail Blazers look to trade Damian Lillard? Is it a situation akin to the Toronto Raptors and DeMar DeRozan where Kawhi Leonard was brought in? Should Lillard trade calls be taken or does the focus need to be on how they can build around him? What does the ideal timeline of 1 and 2 years look like around Lillard? How does that match up with goals the Blazers may now have this year re: roster construction, trades, tanking and more. Will the Blazers take this opportunity to get things righted by tanking the season and having a legitimate shot at a Top 3 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft? Can this be the year where a soft reset allows the team to get an asset that allows them to have more ammo in a trade or to load up on talent and size and run it back next year? A quick look at the top of the NBA Draft as Portland's precarious position has them a 10 game period away of not having to worry about whether or not to intentionally tank. Should the Blazers take a look at Christian Wood following a blow up internally with the Houston Rockets? What kinds of players should the Blazers be looking at right now? Would it be good for the Blazers to be sold sooner than later and a whole lot more! SUBSCRIBE: YouTube, Twitch, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google and Anywhere You Get Podcasts! Oh no, they suck again! Yes, it’s reached meme-able times here as the Portland Trail Blazers get absolutely thrashed by the Los Angeles Lakers , 139-106 falling to 13-22 and the 4th worst record in the league. It’s no longer panic time. The water is filling the boat. it’s not a leak, it’s a hole the size of a buffalo in the side of the ship. It’s going down. Now, it’s a matter of how fast and who makes it. The salvage service will be called once the ship hits the bottom. Everyone needs to stop bailing now and let what’s going to happen - happen. Get what you can, slap on the life vest and hop on the slide and into the lifeboats. Things are going to get worse before they get better and Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague are here to hold your hands, fire up a flare and show you just how the MRE food heater works while you wait for that rescue chopper. Hold onto your butts, it’s going to be a cold night. Come closer with the Jacked Ramsays crew and huddle for comfort and warmth. Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at Monday night’s game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Dallas Mavericks - with Portland falling 132-117, dropping their record to 13-20 on the year. The Blazers really only had one job, don’t get killed by Kristaps Porzingis. Then they went out and got absolutely obliterated by Kristaps Porzingis. Now, I like to live on the wild side a little bit here and there - but continually switching on minimal contact - sometimes none at all - and allowing Porzingis to dictate his touches as much as he did tonight... sometimes Portland just willfully left him wide open... was probably jumping the shark. It’s one thing for Portland to be short handed, and/or undersized - it’s entirely another to wantonly give up the one thing you absolutely cannot in such a tremendously easy fashion. Staples Center is free to be used again, and it appears the Easy Button had landed permanently for Portland opponents. Hop on and try to sift through the sordid mess of tonight’s game - that did have some promising moments; Nassir Little made his impact felt... <> so yeah, let’s do this! Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague with special guest Erik Gundersen of the Associated Press as they take a look over the last week for the Portland Trail Blazers. Now a week removed from Neil Olshey’s dismissal following a 5-week investigation, the ramifications of that move are coming to the fore: the Blazers are in desperate need of an overhaul. Interim GM Joe Cronin, Coach Chauncey Billups and new President Dewayne Hankins all spoke today at an impromptu press even addressing many concerns on the basketball, business, and human capital side. Of course, there’s still the article by Adrian Wojnarowski that targeted Damian Lillard and got Lillard and some in his camp to characterize the article in a negative light. Letting some behind the curtain of what has been a messy ordeal following Olshey’s exit. We still haven’t got to CJ McCollum being ruled out with a collapsed lung, Nassir Little having a scare from a leg cramp, Anfernee Simons out with a twisted ankle, and Lillard getting a Cortisone shot to try and relieve some pain in his abdomen. Hop in with the fellas and try to take it all in. It’s going to be a bumpy ride the next few weeks. SUBSCRIBE: YouTube, Twitch, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google and Anywhere You Get Podcasts! Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at Monday night’s Trail Blazers vs Clippers game that saw Portland lose to Los Angeles 102-90, albeit in significantly less spectacular fashion than their previous three. Without Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, Anfernee Simons or Nassir Little - the shorthanded Blazers relied on Norman Powell (29 points) and Jusuf Nurkic (31 points) to carry the offensive load. While they came up short, the product on the floor was so much better than it has been for the past few weeks, that it’s hard to fathom a game where they never really pushed ahead or in front of their opponent being such a massive improvement. The vibes, while not an official scale, were definitively better with McCollum off the floor - and it appears the message of heart, hustle and give-a-damn at least resonated enough to manifest is cursory level commitments. Unfortunately, the system is still very broken but when things have been so awful recently, it’s nice to not ring the same bells following a loss. It’s a Mail Bag Monday on the Jacked Ramsays podcast with hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague taking on as many of your questions as they can tackle in an hour. With Neil Olshey fired early Friday morning, questions centered around who would fill in temporarily (that’s Joe Cronin) and once that was confirmed, who is Joe Cronin (Interim GM) and what will he be able to do for the Trail Blazers in the meantime? Could Cronin end up the full time GM? How much power - if any - will Cronin have to make a move? Under Paul Allen, interim GM Chad Buchanan was instrumental in guiding the franchise towards Damian Lillard, so it’s not unheard of that big moves could be undertaken but the not full titles Cronin. If it’s not Cronin - who could it be? Brent Barry, Tayshaun Prince, Danny Ainge, Scott Perry and Mark Eversley all have been named as possible additions and their task at hand is no small won. Following an epic throttling at home by the Boston Celtics (which was preceded by another beat down by the San Antonio Spurs), it’s become clear to anyone and everyone that the Blazers need immediate change from the ground up. The core pillars beyond Damian Lillard - CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic - need to be on the move in order for Portland to make real change and reshape the roster. With only 10 days before December 15th and nearly all NBA deals becoming available for addition in trades, whoever is tasked with these moves will have a short time to get it done - what does that look like? Should the Blazers make a move immediately? Is this season salvageable? What packages are out there for players not named Ben Simmons? That and more on this week’s Jacked Ramsays mail bag podcast! Join host Danny Marang for the Jacked Ramsays post game, where he’ll take a look at Saturday night’s game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Boston Celtics that saw the Blazers fall 145-117. A record for points by the Celtics against the Blazers and the most that the Blazers have given up this year. As has been the case with the Blazers on most nights, their opponent got what they want, when they wanted it and were met with very little resistance. The Celtics started off 12-13 from the field and were up 17 points in under 9 minutes of action. The only positive was Jusuf Nurkic scoring at will against Enes Kanter Freedom... which, really only served to keep Portland from going down 30+ in the first frame. CJ McCollum tried to insert himself into the game at all the wrong times and all the wrong places, serving only to drive the Blazers further into the ground. Thankfully, in the 2nd quarter the Celtics forgot how to basketball and allowed the Blazers to compete for just long enough to get you to accept keeping the channel on the game. However, as we should’ve known then.. it was a foolish errand. Instead, you hung around (foolishly) and watched the home town team get absolutely punked on their home floor by a five-foot-eleven-inch kid from West Linn. The Trail Blazers dropped only their second home game of the season, falling to the San Antonio Spurs 114-83. While missing Damian Lillard and Nassir Little, the Blazers also lost the services of Anfernee Simons early on to a sprained ankle - exacerbating issues that were already apparent. The Blazers couldn’t score NOR could they stop the Spurs. It was a problem. The Spurs, one of the worst three point team in the league on volume AND percentage went bonkers in the first half, going 11-23 from behind the line. Now, if this was just shooter’s luck you take it in stride but the Blazers have made a habit of this all season long. It’s becoming who they are - the team that everyone looks forward to playing because you know that you’ll get your comfortable looks and be able to find a groove if you need to. Tonight, it was Jakob Poeltl who blew up the Blazers on defense and “name a Spur” who got what they wanted on offense. Lo-and-behold, the Blazers without matching the Spurs on any level, succumb at home to the many bites of the Spurs’ snake. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they answer your questions on this week’s Jacked Ramsays Mail Bag podcast. On this week’s show, questions about the status and possible outcome of President of Basketball Operations, Neil Olshey have left the organization in a very unique (and let’s be honest, entirely awful) position. Does the longer the investigation goes on signal a decision either way? With 20 games in the books and Portland at 10-10, where or how do they stack up with expectations (poll!) and what would it take for you to change your mind about this team? over the next 15 games, is this team more likely to go 10-5 or 5-10? How does this “not a product of the roster” version of the team stack up to last year’s team? Have the Trail Blazers had more good wins or more bad losses? If the Blazers continue to struggle and/or hover around .500, will the need for a trade be moved up? That and more on this week’s Mail Bag! Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague for the Jacked Ramsays Post Game show, streaming live following Friday night’s Trail Blazers vs Warriors game. No one in the starting lineup had a game to write home about. Norman Powell left with a quad injury, Jusuf Nurkic couldn’t keep the Warriors off the glass (or keep from fouling), Robert Covington was left to do what he wanted (which he could never really figure out), CJ McCollum ball stopped at wildly inopportune times while disappearing defensively and Damian Lillard consistently tried to attack traps, double-teams and help-side pressure. Meanwhile, Portland’s bench was scoreless in the first half, not helping really in any manner and with that all in place, Portland was in it with a few minutes to go in the 1st half and then they got Warriors’d. Blitzed in a 16-2 run the close out the half that made it feel like it was a 30 point game in only a manner the Warriors are able to do. The second half saw Anfernee Simons come to life, scoring all of his 19 points in the final 24 minutes on a barrage of 3’s and floaters. Combined with some decent shot making by Lillard and McCollum Portland closed the gap to 7 but then the Warriors went Warriors again and that was that. In spectacular fashion, the Portland Trail Blazers lost yet another road game by allowing an inferior opponent to score at will from anywhere and everywhere. Unfortunately, tryptophan can’t even be used as an excuse for the sluggish defensive effort as the Blazers lost to the Kings 125, 121. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they break down an inexcusable effort from the Trail Blazers - dropping a game they had absolutely no business dropping. For all of the “rounding a corner” think pieces that have been put together, this team has yet to put an entire performance of 48 minutes together, let alone multiple games. While the result is often highlighted, the process is where the fruit is born and so far - Portland’s process this season has been severely flawed on the road. Jusuf Nurkic and Damian Lillard blew up the box scores - scoring 60 points, grabbing 26 rebounds, dishing out 15 assists and only allowing for 4 turnovers. Output like that should almost always lead to a Blazers win, and yet this season - nothing is assured. Damian Lillard has looked more like himself recently, more explosive getting to the rim, more willing to take (and make shots) from beyond the three point line. Mostly just looking like what we’ve all become so accustomed to over the years. However, is he getting healthier? Perhaps it’s shedding all those bad habits he had over the last 9 years? Maybe the weight of 6 months worth of physical, mental and emotional strain has all just fallen away? Eh... probably just getting healthier. Whatever it is, will it last? On this week’s Jacked Ramsays Mail Bag show, hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague dive into Lillard’s new found (and familiar groove) as well as whether or not his poor start for the year could preclude him from making an All Star team, laying odds on the franchise’s success in a world where Neil Olshey is no longer the President of Basketball Operations and one where he continues on, fun with lineups and the continued development and importance of Anfernee Simons and Nassir Little. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they break down Saturday night’s Portland Trail Blazers victory over the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers, 118-111. First and foremost, Damian Lillard had his most productive night of the year - scoring from all levels, getting to the free throw line and setting the tone for the Blazers all night long. Nassir Little, Norman Powell and Jusuf Nurkic put up wildly efficient scoring nights - all notching double figures and putting pressure on the rim throughout the game. The Blazer’s defense came up in key moments, but in a game where the opponent was missing a large chunk of their offense and still going 10 deep on the roster, you likely wanted to see more from them in that regard. If you’re looking for some building blocks, the Blazers didn’t come out flat in the first quarter but instead saved that for the 4th quarter - allowing the game to get much closer than it should’ve. Portland executed well down the stretch where Philadelphia fell short, losing the ball a handful of times and missing open looks when they came their way. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they break down Wednesday night’s game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Chicago Bulls that saw the Blazers continue winning at home with a 112-107 victory. It was a tale of two halves as the Blazers struggled in nearly every facet through the first 24 minutes. CJ McCollum didn’t register a counting stat outside of a foul in 20 minutes of action. Damian Lillard was nowhere to be found and DeMar DeRozan was a God among men. The problem for the Bulls? There was another half to play and the Bulls went into the locker room and played the role of the fool. Settling for shots, getting sloppy with the ball and what looked to be tired legs (and an over-reliance on Zach LaVine and DeRozan for the short handed Bulls) mixed with an hell-bent Larry Nance Jr super charging the Blazer’s attack... and well, the game went entirely sideways. Jusuf Nurkic came out with a point to prove and when the Blazer’s came knocking, he answered the call. Taking advantage of an undersized frontcourt, rebounding when it matters and impacting the game defensively. All in all a great game, borderline beast like even! Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at the Portland Trail Blazer’s edge of your seat win over the Toronto Raptors, 118-113. Filling in for the Grand Poobah, Mr. Deckard I (Danny) had to cover the 1st quarter of tonight’s action and this is what I had in line for Dave: After all the pomp and circumstance from Coach Chauncey Billups following a lifeless performance by the Blazers last night against the Denver Nuggets , Portland’s starting lineup came out ready and willing... to give up as many open threes as the Toronto Raptors wanted.” It goes on to hammer most of the starting unit and praise the bench for saving their collective bacon. What it doesn’t say is that the energy actually made it over to the starters and resonated. Both units played inspired basketball - feeding off each other. Now, shooting the lights out will get that going but beggars can’t be choosers and tonight the Blazers were BEGGING for good vibes. Whether it was Damian Lillard putting the pressure on the Raptors’ defense with endless drives, CJ McCollum bombing from 3, Cody Zeller diving into the crowd or Larry Nance Jr just being at the right place at the right time - it was the best “feeling” the Blazers have given off this year. Fresh off a 1-3 road trip that saw the Portland Trail Blazers look listless in every performance, coach Chauncey Billups had some strong words as it pertains to the state of the team. Host Danny Marang takes a look at what coach Billups had to say and answers as many of your pressing questions as he can. The comments in question from Chauncey Billups tonight, “I don’t think there’s one real reason to not have effort,” ““That point is coming. It’s coming soon. When you think about it, if you keep playing that way, at some point you have to say something’s not quite working,” and “I’m just confused at I don’t think we came to compete in this game. I mean this is a team that beat us in the playoffs last year, and we don’t come and compete in the first quarter...Just no fight.” Not exactly the kind of thing a team picked by many to win 50 or more games. Where do the problems fall? Unfortunately, there’s no single scapegoat in Terry Stotts to nail to the proverbial wall and this time it’s falling on the players - Jusuf Nurkic, CJ McCollum, Robert Covington and even Damian Lillard - are all under review and while it’ll be a dark day in hell before Lillard is thrown under the bus - we’ll take a look at the others mentioned and what might be happening sooner rather than later. Join the Jacked Ramsays Postgame show with hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at Sunday night’s brutal beat down of the Portland Trail Blazers by the Denver Nuggets , 124-95. The opening quarter set the tone, where most of the Blazers’ starting lineup looked like they’d rather be anywhere but where they were. Calling it sleepwalking through a quarter is disparaging to actual sleepwalkers. The first half was so stale that assistant coach Roy Rogers said in the halftime interview that he just wishes “our guys would compete” - which is surely a sign of buy in and coaching derived issues . It’s becoming a major issue at this point - but effort and intensity is entirely missing. With the loss, the Blazers finish the road trip 1-3, and 6-8 on the season with the Toronto Raptors coming up Monday evening on a back to back. Will Damian Lillard be available? The Portland Trail Blazers fall short in their bid to win their first road game of the season and fall to 0-6 on the road with two more games on the trip before heading home to a back to back. It was an unusually cruel night as the Blazer’s demise was not handed out by Chris Paul or Devin Booker - not Mikal Bridges of the villainous Jae Crowder. Instead, Frank “The Tank” Kaminsky embodied the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse - raining down fire and brimstone in between post moves. Rude. Damian Lillard, clearly limited by whatever is ailing him, delivered in a different manner than in the past. Without the strength to get the 3-ball up effectively, he attacked the midrange religiously and with a good success rate. Meanwhile, Norman Powell is the only Blazer to hit more than ONE three pointer tonight (3-8) as Portland finished 7-30 from deep. It’s a Mail Bag Monday with host Danny Marang where he takes on your Blazer’s related questions - and unsurprisingly, there’s a lot concerning the ongoing investigation of President of Basketball Operations - Neil Olshey. Where do things sit now? What are the next steps? Are there in-house candidates that could take over if Olshey is dismissed or resigns? There’s a lot of take on and only so many answers - so Danny attempts to address as many as he can while planning for some hypotheticals each way. One thing that appears to be getting clearer is that the process will take at least a couple of weeks to work through. Beyond the investigation, a look at why Nassir Little’s playing time has been squeezed, some reasoning for a spike in live ball turnovers and trade machines are firing up all over the place! What would a team look like if Olshey is replaced? Does that change the landscape of who could be traded? Tune in and find out on this week’s Jacked Ramsays Mail Bag podcast! Blazers win! Hop on in and get involved with the Jacked Ramsays postgame show as hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague breakdown Saturday night’s victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. No LeBron James, and while Anthony Davis played, he left the game with stomach illness just a few moments into the game. The Blazers took advantage of a short-handed team that, looked awful and disinterested at every turn. Watching the game it’s hard to evaluate what the Lakers look like without their top end guys, but with that said - what is it this iteration of the Lakers is supposed to be good at? Poor floor spacing, old (read: washed) bigs that don’t have the vertical spacing and athleticism they once had, Russell Westbrook is a Wile E Coyote in the flesh: full of ideas - all of them bad. On the Blazer’s front - Jusuf Nurkic had his best game of the season, under control and making good, sound decisions with the ball and defensively. Three gold stars with only a slight eyebrow raise at the level of competition. Meanwhile, Damian Lillard operated like a burden had been lifted - showing strength and explosion in his game for the first time this season. He even pulled from DEEP range with confidence (he missed) but it showed he was feeling better, whatever that is/looks like. Jump on the stream, sit back and enjoy the show! It’s a back-to-back as the Portland Trail Blazers fresh of Friday night’s victory get set to take on the LeBron James-less Los Angeles Lakers Saturday night in Portland. While there will be plenty of eyes on the floor, there will be whispers about President of Basketball Operations Neil Olshey’s future after a late Friday night announcement (read: news dump) came out stating the Olshey was being investigated for creating and/or fostering a hostile and toxic workplace. The organization has released a statement acknowledging the investigation but no more at this time is known. How will this effect the team tonight? Some? Not at all? The night-to-night likely isn’t impacted as much as the long term with so many variables surrounding the construction of this roster - however the major story lines will still hold up. Will Damian Lillard find his jumper? How about Jusuf Nurkic being the man he so desperately wants to be? Can Anfernee Simons and Norman Powell continue hitting nearly everything? Friday night the Portland Trail Blazers likely stole one against the Indiana Pacers 110-106, in what was mostly an ugly contest. The Portland Trail Blazers wrap up their 3-game trip through the Eastern Conference with a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, 107-104. The loss has Portland at 3-5 on the season and 0-3 on the road trip -but more than that, with each passing game more questions are raised than answered. For every step forward, it’s at least 2 steps back. Damian Lillard continues to struggle, CJ McCollum has cooled down, Jusuf Nurkic might as well still be in Bosnia at this rate and Anfernee Simons can only do so much in his role. What are the next steps for the Blazers? The schedule doesn’t get any easier as they return home - the Indiana Pacers await them Friday with Lebron James, Anthony Davis and the Lakers right behind on a back to back. The Portland Trail Blazers have run into a mostly good to have problem. They have four very good guards but there’s not enough; minutes, touches, shots, or spots on the floor for them all to be maximized. However, one thing is clear - Anfernee Simons needs to be getting over 20 minutes a night regularly. How do the Blazers figure that out? Does that make it a necessity to make a move at the deadline with either CJ McCollum or Norman Powell? Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take on that tall task and answer more of your questions about Damian Lillard’s continued shooting slump, balancing what the top end Blazers do best, trying to figure out where Robert Covington fits in, and whether or not it’s time to slide Larry Nance Jr in the starting lineup. It’s a Jacked Ramsays Mail Bag edition podcast and be sure to catch the pregame show Wednesday at 3 PM PST with special guest Justin Rowan, host of the official podcast of the Cleveland Cavaliers - “The Chasedown” to help preview Blazers vs. Cavaliers. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at Friday night’s Trail Blazers victory over the LA Clippers, 111-92. In what was easily Portland’s best and most consistent effort of the early season, the Blazers on the backs of their defense in a less refined offensive night carry the burden until the offense finally got on track in the second half. Damian Lillard seems to have found SOME rhythm, Paul George was nigh unstoppable and Jusuf Nurkic stat padded his way to 17 total rebounds. While the Blazers’ stars will carry much of the discussion, the role players: Robert Covington, Larry Nance Jr and Cody Zeller all shined in different and very important fashions tonight. Come hop on the stream, enjoy the first back-to-back wins of the year and get involved. Ask questions, celebrate, and look forward to the first real road trip of the season as the Blazers get ready to take on the Hornet, 76ers and Cavaliers. Learn more about your ad choices. Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they break down Wednesday night’s Trail Blazers victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, 116-96. Damian Lillard found a part of his jump shot, Anfernee Simons continues to be instant offense off the bench, Larry Nance Jr introduced himself to Blazers fans, Cody Zeller made it through a game without needing medical attention, Jusuf Nurkic woke up in the second half while the duo of Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr collectively stunk the place up in about every way imaginable. Neither team opted to play defense in the first half and it came down to who had the will or desire to care enough in the second half. Turns out tonight it was Portland. Now 2-2 on the season, the Blazers have more questions in front of them to answer as they turn their eyes back towards the LA Clippers on Friday as they look to right the wrongs of their previous game. Jump on the stream with Brandon and Danny while they break things down and look to Friday’s game! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

On a special 1 on 1 episode of Jacked Ramsays, host Danny Marang is joined by Trail Blazers wing Nassir Little! With a win over the Phoenix Suns and losses to the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Clippers the Blazers have gotten off to an uneven start, we asked Nassir about returning to some normalcy of an 82 game season, breaking down a play against the Clippers, learning how to be physical and develop a reputation as an impactful & physical defender, accepting that he belongs in the NBA, how he watches basketball games in his off time and more! Xs and Os 6:00 We had a single play for Nas to break down his defensive assignment against Paul George and the Clippers - less important was the result of the play, instead we focused on process and had Nas walk us through the who, what, when, where and why of the possession - how & what they discussed in the film room on this play and how his responsibilities evolve when having to defend actions like this. 8:55 How difficult are sets like this to cover? 13:30 How do you watch basketball games - what are you looking for? 18:00 Did it take you a while to learn or accept that you could defend NBA players? 20:00 What is it like to know you're going to have primary defensive assignments every night? 25:00 How difficult is it to build that resume to be physical at the point of attack defensively? 28:30 You knocked down a 3 against the Suns and you let out a scream - what were you thinking in that moment? 33:00 What is the difference between being the energy guy in the starting lineup as opposed to coming off the bench? 35:00 What's something that you haven't been able to show in your game yet that you want to show? 38:00 Is the transition game where you have the green light? 41:00 Tell us about the Nassir Little Youth Foundation 42:30 Do you still have the Beanie Baby we gave you your rookie year? Join host Danny Marang to relive... no... to commiserate over Monday night’s absolute thumping of the Trail Blazers by the Los Angeles Clippers, 116-86. It’s a night for burning the tape, having a laugh and moving onto the next. Remember, there’s still 79 of these things, you have to pace yourself. Damian Lillard still looks like he’s hampered, Jusuf Nurkic looked like a hamper, CJ McCollum tried to will some shots, no one REALLY cared to play defense, the ball was clearly covered in avocado oil (only when the Blazers had it), and Cody Zeller is not going to make it to the All Star break let alone finish the season in one piece at this point. So hop in, have some laughs, let all the bad stuff go and realize that it doesn’t get any easier as a VERY good Memphis Grizzlies team comes to Portland Wednesday night featuring a red-hot Ja Morant and if Portland doesn’t push this game off a cliff they could be down 1-3 through their first 4 games. On this Mail Bag episode of the Jacked Ramsays, Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague take on your questions after the Trail Blazers plays two VERY different games against the Sacramento Kings and the Phoenix Suns that may have raised more questions than they answered? Many have been left wondering, which version of the Trail Blazers is closer to the one we might see this year? A more listless effort against a middling team like the Kings that saw the Blazers look much like they did in preseason- mixed in with explosive scoring from CJ McCollum- or is it the team the had the Phoenix Suns down by 30-plus points early in the 4th quarter and saw coach Monty Williams wave the white flag of defeat with more than 10 minutes remaining in the game? One common thread through both games, CJ McCollum has heard all of the talk about where he stands in the NBA and he’s come out swinging leading Portland in scoring both games while being incredibly efficient... so of course we were asked - is this the year for CJ McCollum to be an All-Star? Beyond that, questions about the prowess of the bench unit, and an update on Norman Powell’s injury make it into the show as the guys discuss Nassir Little possibly stepping into the starting lineup. Blazers win! Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they break down the Trail Blazers dismantling the Phoenix Suns to get their first win of the season! CJ McCollum continues his torrid shooting to start the year, playing so well that he didn’t crack the 30 minute mark. Damian Lillard still hasn’t found his 3-point shot but he’s dropping dimes like a throwback commercial while Nassir Little and Anfernee Simons took over the second half to put the Suns away early. The only real mark on the night came halfway through the 2nd quarter when Norman Powell left with a knee injury and was ruled out for the game. The Blazers have played two games in wildly different fashion - which of these versions will be more indicative of the Blazer’s this year? It's quasi-season preview slash mail bag episode of Jacked Ramsays where hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague answer your questions and take a look some likely or unlikely team and player scenarios. Will Damian Lillard continue taking the shots he has taken in the past (volume-wise)? Will CJ McCollum be the one to cede way for others? Will everyone who was promised a larger role (Norman Powell, Jusuf Nurkci, Anfernee Simons and Nassir Little) get one? What kind of production do you expect from Jusuf Nurkic and at what point is it good enough (or not enough) for you to feel comfortable? With injuries set aside what are the best and worst case scenarios for this year's team? What expectations do you have for Larry Nance Jr on the floor and in the box score? So many questions and so little time before the Trail Blazers kick off their season - Danny and Brandon do their best to answer as many as they can before the season tips off - but what is your best and worst case scenario? Is the Larry O'Brien in reach? Is the team broken up and sold off for parts at the deadline? How grand or disastrous are you thinking? The Trail Blazers finish 0-4 for the 2021-22 preseason and head into the regular season with perhaps more questions than they went into preseason with. Hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague will break down tonight’s game against the Golden State Warriors and the overall themes from the preseason overall. Less concerned with Steph Curry going for 40-plus points and more about how and where he got them. The new look defense is sure to be a work in progress, but how much time will they need and do they have enough of it before things get upside down? Should Jusuf Nurkic be featured the way he has said he wants to be after looking very much the same - some highs, some lows with peaks on both ends? Will Damian Lillard serve as a panacea to all things stinky upon his full integration on opening night? The Blazers have never been a team in the Lillard-era that could just flip a switch - will Coach Billups be able to find that spark and ignite a fire that heretofore hasn’t been there or will they have to fall on their face before figuring it out? Kick on the stream, join the conversation and have fun...that’s an order! SUBSCRIBE: YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google and more! What, if anything, can we take from individual and/or team performance in the preseason? What are the positives... are they there? What are the expectations to start the season - with games that count less than a week away, should there be space allowed for things to be worked out? If it’s not a product of the roster, how long should they be given to iron things out? Finally, Marang and Sprague make predictions that will in no way, shape, matter or form come back to bite them for: Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, Most Improved, 6th Man of the Year, Finals participants and more. Join Danny Marang & Brandon Sprague for the live Post Game show, today following the game! The Portland Trail Blazers took on the Phoenix Suns in the third game of the preseason - one that might’ve had hints of a regular season rehearsal with the full starting lineup out on the floor for an extended run while the Suns had Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder and Deandre Ayton (no Chris Paul) to match them. However, Portland looked lost on both ends and don’t appear to have an identity just yet - is there any cause for concern? Have there been any noticeable trends? Have we seen Jusuf Nurkic in a different role - and how has he looked? What about Norman Powell - is he getting more/different touches? Looking ahead to Media Day - what to expect? What questions would you want answers to? That’s what hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague tackled on the lead up to the opening of the 2021-22 Trail Blazers season. When Neil Olshey sits down at the podium - what do you want to know? Does he feel that he satisfied Damian Lillard’s requests? Does it live up to expectations? How different will this team really look? If you’re putting the ball in Jusuf Nurkic’s hands more - who’s getting less of it? If Nassir Little is one of the first guys off the bench, who’s getting bumped backl? Along the way, Danny has to pay up for his beloved USC Trojans getting humiliated by the Oregon State Beavers - but more importantly, the phrase “Blazer’s legend” is thrown around in a very quaint and joyful manner. So much so that it’s near impossible to not be one - so how does someone become barred from such a status? Who rises above the legends of legends? That and more on this episode! It’s a Mail Bag Monday on Jacked Ramsays and hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague take on your very Jusuf Nurkic centered questions wit just under two weeks to go before the Portland Trail Blazers head to training camp and officially open the 2021-2022 NBA season. The Athletic’s Jason Quick has an article out detailing and discussing how excited Jusuf Nurkic is to play for Chauncey Billups and while he doesn’t mention former Head Coach Terry Stotts by name he definitely indicates he wasn’t happy with his role and that spurred a lot of questions this week as many asked something along the lines of: how much better can Jusuf Nurkic be? What can the Blazers do to allow him to be more successful? How likely will a role change impact the Blazers? Could Nurkic find himself in the company of big men that team’s run their offense through like Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, Domantas Sabonis, Anthony Davis and Julius Randle? As training camp inches closer will Anfernee Simons and Nassir Little make the jumps we’ve seen from past Blazers in years 3 and 4 as the need for their growth has never been greater? Will we see the Blazers re-sign and/or extend any of Nurkic, Simons or Robert Covington before the season? That and more on this weeks’ episode! Learn more about your ad choices. Questions run the gamut, as listeners asked about the Ben Simmons saga, trading Jusuf Nurkic before he hits free agency, the best and worst owners in the NBA, if Norman Powell or CJ McCollum should/could consider coming off the bench and what is the potential for this team if EVERYTHING goes right? Are the a Finals contender? Conference Finals? The Denver Nuggets are missing Jamal Murray to start the year, the Los Angeles Clippers won’t have Kawhi Leonard likely all season, the Los Angeles Lakers are led by the 35 and over squad with LeBron James and the Golden State Warriors won’t have Klay Thompson back until probably around Christmas - are the Blazers in play for a top 4 seed? It’s an all new Mail Bag podcast on Jacked Ramsays as hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague tackle your burning Trail Blazers questions! This week, listeners wanted to know all about training camp invitees; guard Dennis Smith Jr. and Marquese Chriss - both lottery picks in the last 5 years that are on the outside looking in on an NBA roster. Which player should Portland be looking to add? Why aren’t they currently rostered? Could the Blazers be looking to invite a 3rd or 4th player to camp? Do you believe these are the last moves the Blazers will make before the season? If you don’t believe this is the last move, well they’ve got you covered here as they take on multiple questions about the possibility of swapping Ben Simmons for CJ McCollum and what that might look like. What is keeping the deal from happening? Is it Daryl Morey and the 76ers or have the Blazers not made McCollum available? What would it take for it to come together? Will we see Simmons pursue the path of James Harden last year and flaunt his power at Morey and the 76ers, forcing them to take the best offer on the table or will the 76ers wait it out until they believe they have more leverage? It's a mail bag Monday on Jacked Ramsays and host Danny Marang takes a look at what's inside - lo and behold, it's all about Larry Nance Jr! What grade do you give the trade for the Portland Trail Blazers? Will this deal make Damian Lillard "happy" - does it move the needle for him enough to want to stay committed even longer in Portland? What types of lineups do you see Nance being included in - is he a "4" - is he a "5" - will the Blazers be able to roll more lineup combos out there that matches the modern NBA? How does Nance Jr. stack up to last season's mid-year trade target, Aaron Gordon - now of the Denver Nuggets? What differences and/or similarities do you see between the two of them? Is the Portland fanbase looking at this trade with realistic expectations? Will Nance Jr be every 40-something Dad's favorite player? Could this trade be the one that pushes Portland over the top and into the upper echelon of the Western Conference with the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz? Does adding Nance Jr allow for the Blazers to explore other trades that they couldn't before his addition? It's all Nance, all the time - fire up your Fall Out Boy album because it's time to "Nance, Nance" your way into oblivion. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Friday morning the Portlan Trail Blazers made the move they’ve been trying to make for weeks - adding a big bodied wing-type that has the ability to raise the floor of the team, but perhaps not the ceiling— swinging Derrick Jones Jr and a heavily protected 1st round pick to the Chicago Bulls in a 3-team deal that also sent Lauri Markkanen to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and netted the Blazers Larry Nance Jr. Host Danny Marang takes a look at the in’s and out’s of the trade - what does this do for Portland- is their position in the West really improved? Where will Nance fit in? Was an additional 1st round pick too much to give up in this trade? What does Nance Jr DO to help the Blazers? When it’s all said an done - what other move will the Blazers make to fill the 14th roster spot and what grade would you give President of Basketball Operations Neil Olshey for his offseason work? On this week's Jacked Ramsays Mail Bag pod, Danny Marang takes your questions on: How many wins will the Blazers get? Could the Blazers be a "Miracle on Ice" type team and run things all the way to a title? Trading or making moves for: Draymond Green from the Golden State Warriors, Kyle Anderson and/or Dillon Brooks from the Memphis Grizzlies? Is the urgency from Damian Lillard based on the success of "built team" like those of the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo & Khris Middleton and Phoenix Suns with Devin Booker & Deandre Ayton? What and where would the Blazers' roster be if they were a true contender, based on Seth Partnow's NBA Player Tiers column? What kind of coach could/will Chauncey Billups be, and what kind of buy in will do for players like Lillard & CJ McCollum? That an more on this week's episode! Learn more about your ad choices. It’s Mail Bag Monday on Jacked Ramsays - hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague are answering your questions following the Portland Trail Blazer’s opening Summer League victory vs the Charlotte Hornets. Unfortunately, Greg Brown III, Michael Beasley, Kenneth Faried, Emmanuel Mudiay and the human flame thrower that was Antonio Blakeney were no match for grand scale questions facing the Trail Blazers - most specifically, outside of perhaps signing a player off the Summer League roster - are the Blazers mostly built for the 2021-22 NBA season? Is there a CJ McCollum trade still to cling to? Perhaps Ben Simmons or Pascal Siakam could still be a beacon of hope to salvage a request by Damian Lillard to improve the roster? If all else fails... what’s the best pizza to eat while watching the Blazers? That and more on this week’s episode! SUBSCRIBE: iTunes & Spotify Learn more about your ad choices.
