It's called the "sober curious" movement, and we bring one of its game changers and leaders in Jenn Kautsch aka "Sober Sis." Jenn is a pioneer in this movement of sober-minded living. This is about making a conscious choice to be the best version of yourself, to live in an intentional manner and creating the life you want. Sometimes... that means living alcohol-free. Jenn recognized that alcohol was causing some inner turmoil, and that it was taking up too much ‘space’ in her life. As such, she embarked on this amazing journey to create Sober Sis, a tribe of women who are gray-area drinkers. No labels, no all-or-nothing mentality , no horror stories of DUIs and jail stints. Just women who feel as though drinking is a bit more prominent in their lives than they want it to be. After having an unexpected pregnancy and giving her first child up for adoption at the young age of 15, Tina HIllstrom never felt complete. After years of writing to the adoption agency, Tina and her daughter finally reconnected when her daughter turned 23. It was as if Tina could finally breathe, and set her on a path of a truly amazing second act. After moving to Beverly Hills with her husband, Tina became a constant fixture at the Wilshire Hotel, Rodeo Drive and every fabulous Hollywood gathering. A self-proclaimed artist, B list actress, clothing designer and movie producer, Tina’s friends began to joke about her being the most famous person in Hollywood that wasn’t really famous for anything tangible. While Tina turned down the chance to be one of the original cast members of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she was the one who help producers discover Lisa Vanderpump, and did appear on numerous Real Housewives of New York episodes with her dear friend Sonja Morgan. It's the absolute truth. EVERYBODY has shit, and this holds especially true in the world of mental, emotional and physical health and well being. Kim Reed's life took a detour when she became afflicted with an autoimmune disorder. We all know that finding health and wellness can require looking under every rock to find the right diagnosis and treatment plans. It took Kim over seven years of searching for answers and methods of coping with her illness. She is not alone. Unfortunately, this situation is not uncommon, especially as we get older. This episode tells the story of Kim's struggles, and gives recommendations for others on how to share information and self advocate. Many of us have heard the stories about what goes on at the Military Academies, some of which seem outlandish or incomprehensible. Listeners, followers and outside interviewers all want to know-- "did that shit really happen?" Moreover, how can someone with Laurie's personality and stature make it through the gauntlet of discipline, academia, military training, hazing and the grueling physical requirements? This episode answers many of those questions, as well as the over arching theme of the difficulties of a woman holding one's own in a historically male dominated and controlled environment. Laurie was one of the earliest graduating classes of women, and she tackles the stereotypes, how she personally navigated through her four years and how she applied it to her life outside of the military. With candor and a little laughter, Lisa and Laurie tackle the questions and topics that many have thrown their way-- many of which can be applied to all women in any challenging environment. Find out what friends Laurie thinks would make it through. and buckle up, Beat Navy and HOOAH! Get Ready To Be Inspired, Educated, Empowered and Entertained! Sometimes circumstances align our passion with our profession. However, it takes determination, strength and a fair amount of fight to build on our goals. Cue in Kelli Masters, one of the most influential women in the sports industry and a groundbreaking sports agent. This former Miss Oklahoma, attorney and avid football fan accomplished what no one believed possible-- she became a prolific agent and the first women to represent a first round NFL draft pick. It wasn't an easy task. Kelli's path to success was riddled with roadblocks, "no" answers, biases, no-shows and failed deals before she finally secured her place at a table previously reserved only for men. Several years down the road, Kelli and her KMM Sports agency has closed over $200 million in deals, and continues to flourish. Most impressively, she isn't just trying to keep her seat at the table. Kelli is using her platform to inspire others to pursue improbable goals, recognize that it's never too late to follow one's dreams and find a true purpose to live for. Author of High Impact Life: A Sports Agent’s Secrets to Finding and Fulfilling a Purpose You Can’t Lose, Kelli is not only a pioneer, she is a game changer and advocate. Some stories can both break your heart and inspire. This is that story. Stephany Erlbeck unexpectedly lost her husband two days after his 50th birthday, leaving her and her four children, ages 8 through 19, reeling emotionally and financially. Many women simply aren't prepared for a sudden loss of a partner-- whether that be divorce or passing of a loved one. Stephany, owner of multiple "Bodyrok" fitness gyms and founder of "Steph's Fit Culture," was able to follow her passions to get back control for herself and the future of her family. The last layer for Stephany to address was loss during the holidays, something that most of us encounter and struggle with in our second acts. Loss of loved ones. Loss of tradition as kids age out and evolve. It's flat out hard, and we need to address it. This episode is about loss, gaining back control and evolving our approach to traditions in whatever second act we face. Get Ready To Be Inspired, Educated, Empowered and Entertained! When we hit the magical 5-0 milestone and become empty nesters, many call this the "second act." For Celeste Hilling, a highly recognized and accomplished CEO in San Diego County, her second act began much earlier. After proving herself as a senior executive and one of the first officers of a large technology company, Celeste left behind her career to follow a personal passion and start out on her own in an industry totally foreign to her. Celeste was witnessing many people she cared about get sick with cancer and other illnesses. Instead of watching and wondering, she wanted to learn and do something about it. Celeste removed herself from the sidelines and forged on a mission of helping others stay healthy and feel their absolute best. She studied for several years with top researchers, and soon thereafter launched her company-- Skin Authority. Celeste talks about taking this leap and how it affected her identity and initial confidence level-- a growth and transitional milestone that many of us face as we decide "what's next." Skin Authority has become a national presence in a very competitive industry, and Celeste has become a passionate and strong voice for other women who are looking to make bold choices, follow their hearts and passions, as well as make a difference in others. We all discuss and hear the term "Mindset." We read books and repost quotes on social media on the regular. However, unless we go deeper to address the core as to why we are truly feeling a certain way, addressing just our mindset can be important but fleeting. Diane Chandler, a spiritual psychologist and life coach, has been through difficult times, personal trauma and even an identity crisis in her own life. As the daughter and wife of two former NFL quarterbacks, she spent several years working on connecting her mind, body and spirit to effectively work towards a happier, more authentic and honest approach to her relationships with others, herself and the world around her. Diane, who now works with numerous clients in navigating their life journeys, discusses looking beyond the "goal lines" and working towards one's "soul line." Addiction can be viewed as a dirty word and something that is associated with shame. However, it is a legitimate problem that many of us will have to confront with our kids, family members, friends or colleagues. Scott Silverman knows about this all too well. A once functioning substance abuser, he found himself in his early 30's standing on a ledge of a hotel wanting to end his life. He got help, has been in recovery ever since and has dedicated his life to helping individuals and families find their own path to recovery. In this interview, Scott tells his story and also paints a dramatic picture of the growing problem of addition-- especially coming off the pandemic. From screen time to substance abuse, he shares what he knows and what to be aware of-- especially with teens and young adult age groups, who are exposed to more dangers then once existed. Being surrounded by multiple screens can be impossible to migrate away from. Easy access counterfeit medications, such as dark web/street purchased Xanax or Adderall, can be laced with chemicals that can cause accidental overdoses. Skittle parties and dangerous games are now in the mix. While this discussion is somewhat grave, Scott also provides some levity and hope along the way, with natural charisma, sarcasm and wit that you will find disarming and engaging. This episode is a story of an amazing "Bansky" type of project our guest Michael Lamb, his wife and two kids embraced leading up to Mike's 50th birthday milestone. One year in the making, the Lamb family designed, created and anonymously deployed seven massive pieces of art throughout the San Diego community. In the seven weeks leading up to his birthday event, each week a new piece of "pop-up" art would be installed in the middle of the night at random locations that were symbolically selected by Mike and his "secret team." This project not only got weekly news and extensive social media coverage, but it inspired and engaged the entire surrounding community. Each of the seven pieces had special meaning to Mike, and were cleverly designed and constructed by the entire Lamb family. This story and journey is an inspiration to all that taking on something big in scale is possible, including our kids and family in the process is an invaluable experience, and the positive effects are far greater then just the gesture and act. How many can relate to managing a “fluid” household? The layers of older kids coming and going, work slowing down and the added dynamic of spouses working primarily from home are real situations many of us face and perhaps struggle to adapt to and embrace. This episode will discuss strategies to proactively manage the fluidity of the household in this new phase of our lives, and who is more perfect to discuss this topic than a wife of an ex-professional athlete? Hilary Loretta is a wife of a longtime Major League Baseball player, and has spent the majority of her marriage and motherhood dealing with transitions, moving parts, separation and reintegration within her own home. Through a candid and real conversation, Hilary walks us through the strategies that have worked in both her marriage and with her own kids over the years. Her story is fascinating and her experiences are both humorous and relatable. Join us as we look through the lens of an MLB wife and get the inside scoop to some great stories from the road, the stadium and multiple households across the country. And yes...Hilary has her own “walk up” song! https://www.instagram.com/shesa10times5/ Get Ready To Be Inspired, Educated, Empowered and Entertained! If our 10 times 5 Generation X selves could go back and tell our 10 times 2 Generation Z and Millennial selves what we know now, what would we say? In this fun, light and quick episode, we take questions from two 10 times 2 guests about pitfalls, what guidance we wish we had and what we might have done differently if we had the experience and knowledge that we possess today. In addition, we get the advice on some of the things we could do to better relate to and support our younger generations. It’s East meets West, young connects with “experienced” and salt introduces pepper with a big handful of smiles and affection. We close with a fun lightning round to address the younger gen’s terms and language with “Gen X says...Gen Z/Millennials say,” to give all our 10 times 5 mamas an understanding of what our kids are communicating to us and each other! https://www.instagram.com/shesa10times5/ Get Ready To Be Inspired, Educated, Empowered and Entertained!
