Het is tijd om Nederlands te spreken op de school van je kind, en ik ga je daarbij helpen! In deze podcast vertel ik je wat de cursus Dutch for Moms is en hoe het werkt. De cursus is voor internationale ouders in Nederland met kinderen die naar een Nederlandse school gaan. Veel van mijn studenten wonen jarenlang in Nederland zonder Nederlands te spreken, maar dit verandert zodra je kinderen naar school gaan. De cursus helpt internationale moeders en vaders om actiever betrokken (involved) te zijn bij het schoolleven van hun kinderen. Ik help je om Nederlands te kunnen spreken in verschillende situaties. #66 | Migration and the effects on your nervous system - interview (in Dutch) with expert Maartje Monné.

In deze video-podcast (in het Nederlands) praat ik met Maartje Monné over het emigreren naar een nieuw land en het leren van een nieuwe taal. Maartje deelt haar ervaringen (experiences) als Nederlandse die naar Frankrijk is verhuisd en legt uit (explains) hoe het zenuwstelsel (nervous system) een grote rol speelt bij het leren van een nieuwe taal. We bespreken ook hoe het belangrijk is om je zenuwstelsel te reguleren en ontspannen te zijn tijdens het leerproces. Ze vertelt over hoe moeilijk ze het vond in het begin in haar nieuwe land, en de uitdagingen (challenges) die ze tegenkwam. Ook deelt ze tips om jou te helpen je kalmer te voelen in je nieuwe land. Dit was zo'n mooi gesprek, dat we hebben besloten om hier meer over te vertellen! Op dinsdag 2 juli om 10 uur geven we samen een masterclass (in het Engels!) over de rol die het zenuwstelsel speelt bij migratie, en hoe je frustratie en boosheid (anger) kan tegengaan door specifieke tools te gebruiken. #60 | Short story in Dutch - De eerste schooldag van mijn zoon.

In deze aflevering (episode) vertel ik je over de eerste schooldag van mijn zoon! Hij is nu ook 4 en dat betekent dat ik twee kinderen op de basisschool heb! In Nederland gaan bijna alle kinderen naar de basisschool (primary school) als ze 4 jaar oud zijn, maar ze moeten naar school als ze 5 jaar zijn. Ik vertel je alles over het proces rond 'naar school gaan' en ik geef je tips voor deze periode. Ben jij een 'expat- parent' in Nederland en gaat je kind (bijna) naar een Nederlandse basisschool. #3 | How to pronounce 'HET' like the Dutch do.

In this episode I teach you how to pronounce 'het' as a REAL Dutchie. Because the textbook teaches you one thing, but when going into the wild you might encounter some really different sounds. 'Mumble your way into Dutch' is my motto and that is what we encounter here also. Het becomes an 'uht' sound and by learning this difference it can become a little less overwhelming when trying to understand Dutch people. I hope this one helps!
