Jade Gordon is a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Communications. Now with a passion and mission to develop positive leaders and build great teams, she has joined The Jon Gordon Companies as a keynote speaker and certified trainer. We live in a world where most aren’t living their purpose and it’s such a shame to see a large majority of our society completely disengaged in their everyday lives. Jade almost had the same fate as the majority. She always knew what she should be doing, but doubt always crept in. It wasn’t until she met a complete stranger that prayed for the exact same things she'd been doubting that she finally stepped into her purpose. She said "YES" to the prayer and is now on the journey towards fulfilling that purpose. Dr. Niraj Nijhawan founded the Life Ecology Organization (LEO) in 2014 with the mission to establish dynamic, exhilarating, and effective work communities to help society in these challenging times. He has spent 30 years cataloging, teaching, and helping people integrate the latest knowledge from medical, social, and brain science into their lives. LEO has now grown to include a diverse team of scientists, educators, storytellers, and thought leaders working to build the platform and bring it to as many people as possible. The world is rapidly becoming ever more complex. This chaos is destabilizing and is increasingly resulting in mental health problems as well as poor adaptability and engagement. But there is a simple explanation underlying it all, which my guest Dr. Niraj Nijhawan refers to as the Higher Brain and Lower Brain. By understanding this concept, the result is substantially improved mental health and a growth mindset, leading to greater effectiveness at work and many other aspects of life. Today's topic is making an impact by spreading your message with marketing. Marketing is one of the most important things a business can do. Not only does marketing build brand awareness, but it also can generate sales, grow businesses, and engage customers. The core of any business is to solve problems. Oftentimes, the bigger the problem, the better. However, if you really want to make an impact in your industry, market, community, or neighborhood, people need to know what problem you can solve. You could have a cure for cancer, but if no one knows about it, you're not going to change anyone's life in order to grow your business and make an impact on people's lives. You need marketing. Here today to give us some marketing tips and explain how she personally is making an impact with our community is Rowan Childs. Welcome to another episode of inspire people impact lives. Our topic today focuses on the importance of intentional behavior and being thoughtfully fit. The only things we can control in life are our thoughts feelings and behaviors. If we can manage those we can achieve our goals and gain success in life. To have this level of control we need to learn about the science based patterns behind our emotions and thoughts and then how to manage them. If we know how our minds work we can be intentional about influencing our thinking and feeling patterns. We can evaluate reality more clearly make better decisions in the moment and improve our ability to achieve our goals. So think about the characteristics people often attribute to great leaders. Being a visionary intelligent empathetic passionate but it is intentionality that I believe is key the intentional leader acts rather than remarks the central leader knows how he or she produces value. The intentional leader uses purposeful decisions language and actions to advance the organization in his or her individual shapes. So today I have Darcy Luoma CEO of Darcy Luoma Coaching and Consulting and creator of Thoughtfully Fit. What makes a great leader? You are probably thinking it’s something buzzword-worthy like confidence. Or maybe vision. Or emotional intelligence—you hear about that one all the time. For sure, those are all good qualities for a leader to have, but the answer is actually trustworthiness. The question “Can I trust you?” is always on our minds whenever we interact with other people. Studies suggest that in order to figure out whether or not someone is trustworthy, we analyze their words and deeds to find answers to two questions: “Do you have good intentions toward me—are you a friend or a foe?” and “Do you have what it takes to act on those intentions?” Today we’ll talk about how we find the answers to these questions. Decades of research show that we are all highly tuned-in to the warmth and competence of those around us. Warmth is being friendly, kind, loyal, and empathetic. It is taken as evidence that you have good intentions toward others. Your competence—being intelligent, creative, skilled, effective—is taken as evidence that you can act on your intentions if you want to. Competent people are therefore valuable allies or potent enemies. Less competent people are objects of compassion, or scorn. When your team trusts you as a leader, it increases commitment to team goals. Communication improves, and ideas flow more freely, increasing creativity and productivity. Perhaps most important, in the hands of a trusted leader, employees are more comfortable with change and more willing to embrace a new vision. When your team doesn’t trust you, you don’t get their best effort. You’ll then find yourself unable to inspire, influence, and create real change CONNECT WITH ME HERE: Facebook Instagram LinkedIn Twitter TikTok YouTube SUBSCRIBE TO THE PODCAST HERE: Apple Podcasts Spotify YouTube

In 1951 renowned psychologist Solomon Asch conducted an experiment and found that the larger the group is, the more people tend to conform to mob mentality. Leaders who broke out of the box were ridiculed and labeled as troublemakers. The word troublemaker has a may negative connotation however some of the greatest leaders and innovators were also given this label. People like Galileo, Gahndi, Martin Luther King, Henry Ford, Wright brothers, Harriet Tubman, Mark Zuckerberg, Nelson Mandela, and Steve Jobs are all incredibly inspiring people who were able to courageously break away from a mob mentality and passionately pursue their vision of the future. Creative thinkers are able to easily find answers to unsolved questions. They weigh up the facts and are not afraid to try new approaches. This type of team leader can find the solution to a technical, scientific or social problem by going against the grain and questioning the typical way that things have been done in the past. Part of being an innovative thinker is having the capacity to explore alternative thoughts and ideas. Anyone who thinks they have all the answers is kidding themselves, so make a point of challenging your beliefs on a regular basis. If you’re fiscally conservative, explore a well-thought out piece by someone on the opposite end of the political spectrum so you can see the other side of the story. If you’re a Christian, explore the thoughts of the most highly regarded Muslims to discover why they believe what they do. Have conversations with people who have different thoughts and beliefs to learn what makes them tick. If you really believe something with conviction, it should hold up to scrutiny. Your openness will show others that you are so firm in your convictions that you’re willing to challenge your beliefs. By doing this you will develop trust in people who think differently than you do, and inspire those around you. Now, a lot of us have a variety of “selves” that come out depending on the social situation: home, work, and friends all require a different song-and-dance. But putting on a different show for every group of people you encounter is super exhausting, and it’s certainly not a good way to inspire people around you. Would you place your confidence in a person who was so uncomfortable in their personality that they felt the need to pander to whatever crowd they were with? Or put your trust in someone who changes their views and attitude, from one setting to the next? This is why it's important to be authentic and to embrace your true self, without apology. When you’re authentic and value-driven, you choose to align your actions with what you believe in. Those who are unsure can find themselves in sticky situations, they don’t know who they are, or whom they’re trying to please. This can cause them to continuously find themselves reacting to stress, rather than acting in a way that is true to who they are. You won’t simply have “less” stress when you’re grounded in values and authenticity—but you’ll be able to handle it better because you’ll be able to tackle it with clarity. Instead of trying to figure out what you stand for in the midst of a stressful situation. Today I have a special guest and long time leader in the community Jim Tubbs, current President & CEO at State Bank of Cross Plains. Jim knows a great deal about staying true to yourself and being an authentic leader.
