This Yoga Sesh sequence I have wanted to record for you for a long time and when I got a request for stretching the IT Band it motivated me to get this class up and available on the podcast. There are poses and flows in this practice that I fell in love with when I was teaching at a Katonah Yoga inspired studio. These poses and the "Water Salutations" involve weaving and crossing your legs which creates a beautiful balance challenge and activates both sides of your brain. (I first learned these salutations under the name "Waterfall Salutation" from Katonah Yoga and I updated my language for it because I resonate more with referring to the Element of Water itself and the deep knowing it invokes within us). In addition to IT band stretches, expect hamstring openers and working with the outer hips. This practice does have a peak pose that you may want to look up and get a visual on before you hit play called Krounchasana or Heron Pose. We will do both Heron Pose and Revolved Heron :) Suggested props: 1-2 blocks Moves & poses to know: Some of the poses and flows in this sequence are modern, hybrid and on the frontier of yoga so they are not Google-able (crazy!). Look at my Instagram post on October 10th, 2020 to get a glimpse of them. The most important poses to reference are Krounchasana (Heron Pose) and Parivrtta Krounchasana (Revolved Heron Pose). Caitlin Rose opens this Yoga Sesh with an ask for connection, she wants to know who is practicing with this podcast :) You can find her on Instagram @cailtinrosekenney or write her a note via the Contact page on www.caitlinrosekenney.com. She is now leading weekly LIVE virtual yoga classes and would be delighted for podcast listeners to join. Here are the details: www.caitlinrosekenney.com/live-classes. This practice is a full-body Yin Yoga sesh designed to clean and clear the major meridians (energetic channels) in your body. The theme is about the element of Fire, which is associated with the season of Summer. Fire deconstructs what was previously built, separates or unblends that which was glued together and clears the landscape for something new to grow. As you do this practice, notice what around you or within you is in a phase of destruction, alchemy or searing clarity? This is the Fire element at work in your life. You can also take this class online with video: https://vimeo.com/432362538 This Yoga Sesh was recorded at home and you may hear mild background noise in the audio. Let these sounds blend with the noises around you as you practice developing your capacity for presence while returning to the sensations in your body over and over again. Suggested props: a bolster or pillows, yoga blocks, blankets Moves & poses to know (Yin Yoga names): Dangling, Squat, Supine Twist, Half Butterfly, Saddle, Dragonfly, Reclined Butterfly with your hands under your bum, Child's Pose with one arm threaded under and Supported Fish Pose. This generous Yoga Sesh has been seriously upgraded with MUSIC mixed by DiscoNektar a.k.a. Taylor Phinney. You will love the musical alchemy as you go on an archaeological dig into your inner landscape and re-remember that you have the desire and capacity for both inner connection and connection with the outer world. Suggested props: 1-2 blocks and a bolster A note from Taylor and track list below! This is a Yoga class from @yoga-sesh with a mix of songs recorded to flow with the class. As a boulder native, I have spent the last couple of years attending Caitlin’s classes at the Yoga Pod or The Little Yoga Studio. Since I was racing bikes professionally, I would spend half of the year traveling in Europe, basing myself in Spain. I could never find the same yoga vibe as we have in Colorado so I became very grateful to have Yoga Sesh podcasts in my living room. At the beginning of March I came over to Europe for what was meant to be a 3 week vacation to visit with my girlfriend before she starts her cycling season (she also races, I just retired). Two weeks in we were forced into lockdown with nowhere to go. We spent 7 weeks inside our apartment unable to leave the house for any physical exercise, only to get groceries or go to pharmacy. I spent this time doing Yoga Sesh podcasts and learning more about a music program I use called Ableton. I had always used the program to make my own music but never to mix tracks from other artists. In this time I learned to mix and hosted some very small isolation dance parties. This episode of Yoga Sesh, Inner Archaeology, is one of my favorite flows and I noticed that at the beginning of the class there is some background audio from a class next door that doesn’t quite fit. I thought it would be informative to learn how to remove that background audio while still keeping the audio of the voice in tact. Since I took most of the low end out of the audio to get rid of the background noise, I thought music could create a nice foundation--I started playing tracks to the flow since I had taken the class many times and felt like I had a good grasp of what kind of music could accompany Caitlin's guidance. I had a lot of fun with it and reached out to CRK to see if she would be into it. I was nervous at first because her flows are like works of art in themselves and I wanted to do them justice. She ended up liking it and with some more little tweaks here it is :) TRACKLIST: [Song - Artist (Album)] Garden - Nicolas Jaar (Cenizas) Unblocked - DjRum (Portrait with Firewood) The Traitor - Menahan Street Band (Make The Road By Walking) Transcendence - Thievery Corporation (Sounds From the Thievery Hi-Fi) Tzantza - Nicola Cruz (Cantos de Vision) Little Raver - Superpitcher (The Golden Ravedays 1) All Around Me (RSS Disco’s All Over You Mix) - Johannes Klingebiel Sonnenblut Am Platz De Perlen - Durerstuben (Met Chin In Moo’s Eak) Most Pretty Girls Have Pretty Ugly Feet - HNNY Avril 14th - Aphex Twin (Drukqs) Galerie - A Wing

Caitlin Rose's Horizon Meditation is an exploration of infinite space and the stabilizing form of your body. The horizon represents that which is boundless, hopeful and spacious. Your body, containing your personality and experience, represents that which is uniquely defined in this moment. Together the horizon and your body form a yin and yang partnership: a balanced whole that holds both your connection to spirit and your soul. Caitlin begins with 5 minute talk on this yin and yang philosophy and then guides you into a 10 minute meditation. Yoga practice with Caitlin Rose Kenney: Support your liver, an organ deeply intertwined with your ability to detox and digest, with this short (30 minute) Vinyasa Flow practice. To stimulate the liver, Caitlin Rose has carefully chosen postures that target the liver and the meridian line of the liver. Using the map of Chinese Meridian theory, Caitlin Rose crafts potent yoga classes aimed at restoring and rebalancing your organs. According to Chinese Medicine, your liver is the organ responsible for your inner world and when you are in a state of dissonance, confusion, or hurt — emotions of irritation, anger, and resistance present themselves. Through turning inwards and doing practices to support the liver (like this yoga class) those feelings of aggravation can be transmuted into compassion for self and others. The class opens with a wide-knee Child's Pose to help you drop-in to your practice and then moves into a heat building sequence that includes twists, core strengthening and hip openers. This session winds-down with a long Pigeon Pose and you have the option to take Savasana to close your practice or switch Yoga Sesh Podcast episodes and go to the Yin Yoga Liver Support Sesh to compliment the dynamic practice you just finished. Suggested props: 2 Blocks Moves & poses to know: Down dog with Figure Four Legs, Chair Pose (Utkatasana), Warrior 1 (Virabhadrasana 1), 1/2 Splits (Ardha Hanumanasana) with IT Band Stretch, Down Dog with Twist, Eagle Leg Crunches, & Pigeon Pose. Yoga practice with Caitlin Rose Kenney: This yoga class was designed with caregivers in mind and is a powerful practice for all practitioners. The sequence weaves wrist and shoulder openers for mobility in the upper body with long holds in standing poses for strength in the lower body. The variations offered for the hands and shoulders stimulate a branch of the heart meridian that runs from the heart to the hands. This pathway must be open and clear for the intentions in your heart to translate to the work you do with your hands. Whether you are a doctor, therapist, parent, healer, or an artist, you want this pathway to be clear so that your love, creativity, and wisdom is felt by the people you share your life with. The class opens with variations to stretch the wrists and inner arms, moves into a graceful Warrior 2 flow to warm the body, then progresses into longer holds in standing poses, and culminates in Pigeon Pose variations. Throughout this practice I encourage you to take “knees, chest and chin” to lower down from plank to your mat so that you can stay grounded, harness your energy, and give back to yourself. Note: this practice was designed to work easily for pregnant women who are experienced yogis. If you are pregnant in your second or third trimester, modify your vinyasa (knees, chest and chin) to table top with Cat-Cow, Camel Pose variations, Anahatasana, or go straight from Plank to Upward Facing Dog. Enjoy! Suggested props: 1 Block Moves & poses to know: Chair Pose (Utkatasana), Triangle Pose (Trikonasana), Knees-Chest-Chin, Extended Side Angle Pose (Parsvakonasana), Pigeon Pose, & Bridge Pose Visit www.caitlinrosekenney.com to learn about LIVE Virtual Classes, Yoga Teacher Training and more.

Yoga practice with Caitlin Rose Kenney: As a former ballet dancer, Caitlin Rose knew exactly what her friend, who's a professional dancer, meant when she requested a yoga sesh focused on relieving the neck and shoulders. Dancers aren’t the only ones who carry chronic tension in the neck and shoulder area. Due to the frequent use of technology and tension patterns created when driving cars, the neck and shoulders get rigid. This 52-minute practice is designed to bring mobility and ease back into the neck and shoulders by titrating between dynamic strengthening and softening. Caitlin Rose opens the practice with a simple joint lease series that begins in the hands and works systematically into the shoulders. She then guides you through Sun Salutations and then targets the neck and shoulders with poses that alternate between heating and releasing. The class winds down with outer hip stretches and supported inversions. Recommended props: 1 block and an open wall. Practicing outside? A big tree trunk will work too ;) Moves and poses to know: "Shoulder Clock" at a Wall, Surya Namaskara A, Virasana with Ushas Mudra, Anahatasana (Puppy Dog Pose), Forearm Plank, Dolphin Pose, Neck Release, Gomukasana (Cow Face) Legs, Garudasana (Eagle) Arms, Supported Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose) & Viparita Karani on a block (“Block Stand”).
