For episode four of Gadfly we go as far north as the boundaries of America will take us and look at the beginnings of the Alaskan Independence Party and, its founder, a cranky old prospector-lawyer named Joe Vogler. 

As party founder he fought for Alaska to leave the United States and form its own sort of Libertarian utopia. In his personal life, he fought buses, trees, and the National Park Service.
