Having an audience that keeps coming back for your show is crucial but many podcasters don’t even pay attention to the consistency of their branding. Therefore, it became Danny’s mission to help produce podcasts that build brand loyalty so podcasters can build trust with their audience and turn them into loyal customers. In this episode, Billy talks to Danny Ozment , a brilliant recording engineer who found his love for podcasts and became a Podcast Strategist. Danny shares his story on how he got into the podcasting space, why his experience with different music styles helped him a lot, and the key ingredients to building brand loyalty. Tune in on your favorite podcast platform! WHAT WE DISCUSS: [00:21] - Billy’s introduction for the episode [01:55] - How Danny applied his background in music to being a podcaster [03:18] - How Danny started to help podcasters [04:12] - What Danny’s team helped them the most [05:58] - Core tenets of storytelling [08:37] - What are the pitfalls you can make as a guide in your podcast? [30:05] - Thoughts on Anchor FM and how to get listens from there [33:29] - What podcast metrics should you look at? [38: 54] - Ideas for market growth [43:04] - Unpopular podcasting tips VALUABLE INSIGHTS AND KEY TOPICS: A podcast is a similar art form to music. In podcasting, you're bringing out different elements of a story or a topic that can be focused on. Many of the best performers create their own stories for the audience. People come into the podcasting space often with too many ideas and they don't have real clarity on what they really want to talk about. The different tools to create memberships and have two-way communication to grow your audience. Make sure you stay consistent because if you show up at the same time every week, people will get used to you doing it. Acknowledge people's names so that next time those people are going to be back, they're going to tell somebody else. If you're not getting 20,000 downloads after three or four weeks, an episode being out, you're not really going to see a good CPM number. How long are people

More and more people are listening to podcasts every month which is why a lot of entrepreneurs and businesses opt-in to create their own show not only to provide value but to help them improve discoverability. But one of the prevalent reasons people don’t take the leap of faith and launch their own podcasts is the time it takes to make one. So, how long does it take to make a podcast? This is a question that Billy was asked on LinkedIn . In this episode, Billy talks about the realities of making podcast episodes and staying consistent, he also shared how time to produce episodes may vary to different podcasters, and shares his own experience keeping up with running multiple shows. Tune in on your favorite podcast platform! WHAT WE DISCUSS: [00:27] - The work that goes inside producing an episode [00:44] - Billy’s initial steps in making an episode [01:19] - Why it takes 10 hours for Billy to research guests [02:12] - Doing the actual interview [03:28] - How long does the post-recording process take [05:34] - The truth about how much time it actually takes VALUABLE INSIGHTS AND KEY TOPICS: Ask yourself what your time commitment is Why learning about the guest is the most fun part of the process Noting areas in the process that can be outsourced Considering automating processes NOTABLE QUOTES: [00:11] - “The amount of time it takes me may not be the amount of time it takes you. It is a massive variable.” [05:34] - “A lot of people who are successful say they spend the majority of their time on promoting their show, not just creating their own. ” USEFUL RESOURCES AND LINKS MENTIONED: For The Love of Podcast Website: https://fortheloveofpodcast.com/ Podify Website: https://www.podify.com/ CONNECT WITH ME: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/billysamoa/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/billysamoa/ SUPPORT THE SHOW: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fortheloveofpodcast_/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/loveofpodcast_ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ForTheLoveOfPodcast Youtube: <a href="https://www.youtu

10 Tips for Landing Big Podcast Guests: 𝟭. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 -Regularly comment on their #SocialMedia posts. Add real value! 𝟮. 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 -For the right reasons, not the wrong reasons. Be visible by supporting 👍 their work 𝟯. 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 -Do not be overly eager. Play it cool😎 It's like dating. If you come on too strong it's a turnoff. You want to be seen more as a peer than a crazed fanatic 𝟰. 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 -Play the long game. Don’t try to land them as a guest immediately. Let them get to know you through your comments over time 𝟱. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 -At some point send them a connection request. Share some highlights about yourself 𝟲. 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 -Say something incredibly specific about their work. Avoid the generic “I love❤️ your work” 𝟳. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 -Look for common ground to build rapport(same town, same college, etc.) DO NOT FORCE THIS! 𝟴. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 -Find other ways to connect with them (get good at finding emails) Connect with them on platforms where they aren't as active 𝟵. 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 -Don't be annoying, but also don't give up. Touch base from time to time but DO NOT be aggressive. Think "friendly" not "needy" 𝟭𝟬.𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 -In case you missed it, this is so important I included it twice! Learn more about your ad choices. The Podcast Guest 10 Commandments: 1. Know Thy Audience: know who that #podcast serves. Make it a goal to be one of that show’s best guests of all-time (listen to at least one episode, read reviews, website) 2. Thou are the Expert: remember why you were brought on the show (likely you have superpower strength worth sharing) 3. Thou Shall Break Things Down: share things step-by-step (actionable - 1, 2, 3) so they can be easily applied 4. Thou Shall Not Be Vague: don't hide information because it's “sacred” - share freely and BE SPECIFIC! 5. Thou Shall Not Record Bad Sound: record in a small carpeted room, with soft surfaces, USE AN EXTERNAL MIC! 6. Thou Shall Listen: pay close attention throughout the interview, especially to the question, and answer it directly/succinctly 7. Thou Shall Not Bore: stories about your life may be interesting, but people want to know WIFM (What’s in it for me) - be sure your story has a payoff that provides value 8. Thou Shall Have a POV: what is your unique perspective or “point of view” that people will remember you by? 9. Thou Shall Not Over Plug: be subtle about plugging your products/services. Don’t let it dominate the conversation 10. Thou Shall Help Promote: share the episode with your network, reply to comments on posts What is 11? Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode, I share my 10-step podcast interview planning blueprint: 𝟭. 𝗗𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: without question, the most important step is actually learning about the guest. I don’t short-change this part of the process. I listen to other podcasts they’ve been on, read their book(s), look deep into their #socialmedia (old and new posts), use Wikipedia (talk section), read book reviews (positive and negative), read articles, etc. - the goal is to find interesting facts, powerful insights, impactful stories, as well as avoid questions they're asked in every interview 𝟮. 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀: I order all the notes according to the flow that I outline below 𝟯. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴: I like to start with a question they've never been asked before. I try to tap into an emotion, either laughter or tears. Example: (funny) I asked a guest if it would be okay if I ate some Pez to start and pulled out a Pez dispenser because he’s from the birthplace of Pez. (emotion) I read a letter that Jeff Harry ’s father wrote to him before he died. He was shocked and touched 𝟰. 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: I ask a few origin stories at the beginning to find out what early-life experiences helped to influence who they are today. Example: Chris Do - Why is April 30, 1975 a significant date to you? (this was the day his family immigrated to US from Vietnam) 𝟱. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: I ask questions about times in their life where the was a significant shift or pivot 𝟲. 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: I want to tap into their expertise/zone of genius by asking them questions that'll allow them to shine. These are questions that'll yield practical advice that can be implemented. I tie this back to their own life story. The best answers are step-by-step frameworks 𝟳. 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄-𝘂𝗽𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆: Based on my research I know their frameworks and concepts so I have clarifying follow-up questions on standby to emphasize key points. I include bulleted details under my questions so I can bring more depth to the conversation 𝟴. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗣𝗢𝗩 (𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄): Listeners don’t want to hear the same thing they’ve heard a million times before. They want new information delivered in a novel way. I look for my guest’s unique perspectives. James Carbary taught me to ask this question "what is a commonly held belief in your industry that you passionately disagree with?" 𝟵. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗨𝗽: I have all their CTAs, websites, books, and social medial handles ready. I say “you can learn more from…” then

One of the many amazing things about Clubhouse is the access to people that I may not already know. One example is the fact that I got a chance to meet Marcus dePaula who is an audio engineer, a podcast producer, and an all-around awesome dude! He's a cofounder of Mixtus Media and produces podcasts under his company Me Only Louder. He also has a pretty rad voice if you ask me! Marcus knows his stuff when it comes to recording superb sound. In this episode, he provides a detailed overview of his own setup, he shares his three-part production process, and we dive deep into what you should think about when it comes to recording the environment in the room acoustics. We also talk about microphones and microphone technique, which is one of the most common mistakes a rookie podcaster makes. After 12 years in the advertising space, my guest today decided to start his own newsletter to level the playing field and provide knowledge and insights that he learned through being immersed in ad tech. Most recently at Megaphone, Bryan Barletta has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to understanding the landscape of podcast advertising. He's a big believer in democratizing knowledge to make sure everyone understands what goes into effectively leveraging the technology that exists in the world of advertising. We recorded this on Clubhouse and Squadcast simultaneously, so you may notice a sound change toward the end of the episode. We cover a wide range of topics including understanding what he calls the PodScape when it comes to knowing who the players are. we start off with the lightning round in which he shares some definitions for some commonly used terms that you may or may not already know. He gives us a history lesson when it comes to podcast attribution and we talk about the role that Spotify has since it's been investing so much money in the podcast space. In this special edition of For the Love of Podcast when I have a conversation with my friend and advisor Brenden Kumarasamy . Branding is the host and creator of Master Talk , a youtube channel and movement where he helps people master their ability to communicate. I met Brenden last year and we immediately hit it off. He is absolutely brilliant and one of the smartest people I’ve ever met. Last year, he introduced me to Clubhouse . And to put it lightly, it has changed my life! This episode is my first attempt to do a podcast and Clubhouse together. Part one is just my conversation with Brenden. Part two will include a Q & A that we did on Clubhouse. Brenden shares how he got started, why he is taking it so seriously, and why he believes we should all have a sense of urgency to over-index our time into the platform now. We also discuss what it takes to be a rockstar moderator, and he gives advice on how to gain your first 1000 followers. Alright, I admit it...I'm a podcast junkie...and so is my guest today Harry Duran . In fact, he is such a junkie he even named his show Podcast Junkies . I've known about Harry and his show ever since reading an article he wrote about other podcasts that are about podcasting: The Incredibly Exhaustive List of Podcasts about Podcasts. He also runs FullCast , a podcast production agency. He is an absolute wealth of knowledge and I love his casual and friendly approach. Like most podcasters, he doesn't look at others in the space as competition, but rather as partners and collaborators. Even though I have a podcast about podcasts and I just started my own agency he was more than willing to share his knowledge and I am confident will find it incredibly valuable. We learned about his approach to interviewing, some ninja tricks to find great podcast guests, and an amazing recipe he has to get guests to share their show with their audience. Having worked with countless podcaster's he has tried and experimented it with all kinds of strategies and I'm excited to share them with you! If you've been in podcasting long enough my guest needs no introduction. But just in case you aren't familiar with the legendary Cliff Ravenscraft, let me share a little bit about him: In 2005, he began podcasting as a hobby with a show about the TV series Lost. A year later he launched his show the Podcast Answer Man which led to him helping tens of thousands of individuals and organizations successfully launch a podcast through one-on-one coaching and online courses. If you were to look at the top 100 podcasts in the business category of Apple Podcasts, more than 50 of these shows were created by clients who he has personally coached. Today, he is the host of the Cliff Ravenscraft Show and has a successful life coaching and business. It was a true honor to sit down with the legend himself to hear his story. He was nice enough to give me over two hours of his time so I’ve broken it up into two parts. In this episode, he’ll share his story of how he got his start, how faith plays a role in his life, and the advice he has for anyone starting out. My goal for this interview was to get to know Cliff, the person, and I would say Cliff delivered. As a podcaster, our instrument is our voice. The microphone and RSS feed may amplify our voice, but without our voice, we would not have a podcast. I found today’s guest, Emmanuella Grace , when doing research about the voice. Her insights impressed me so much and I knew she would provide a ton of value so I invited her on the show. As a high-performance voice coach for more than two decades, she’s helped 1000’s of people with their voice. Her program is built on a foundation of science and years of research. What’s crazy to me is how little attention we pay to our voice. Unless we use our voice professionally we just take it for granted. And even when we use our voice professionally we may take it for granted. What I love about Emmanuella’s approach is it is holistic. Her insights on the voice will help you master the instrument that only you can play. Linda Hollander has been featured by Entrepreneur and Inc. magazines as the leading expert on corporate sponsorship. She's the author of Corporate Sponsorship in 3 Easy Steps, the CEO of Sponsor Concierge and the founder of the Sponsor Secrets Seminar. In this short popcorn edition of the show, I dissect some of the insights she revealed when I interviewed her as well as some of the concepts she shares in her book. I break down her approach to landing sponsorship deals into 3 easy steps: 1. Prepare - How to identify the right sponsors for your show 2. Propose - How to create an industry-standard sponsor proposal and negotiate the deal 3. Promote - How to keep sponsors for the long term by promoting them the right way and communicating in a way that will let them know just how valuable you are to them! Many say you shouldn’t count on sponsorship money when you first start podcasting. After reading Stephen Woessner’s book Profitable Podcasting , specifically the chapter on sponsorships, I wanted to learn more. In it, he shares the insights from sponsorship expert Linda Hollander . Like any good journalist, I followed the lead and reached out to Linda directly. During our first phone call, I quickly realized she’d be a guest you’d want to hear from. Today I share our conversation. What’s become crystal clear to me is landing sponsorships is not only doable, if you truly know your audience, it a phenomenal to bring in reoccurring revenue. The key is to have a proven strategy because, as Linda will tell you, you may not get a second chance. We cover a lot of ground in our discussion but like her book, Corporate Sponsorship in 3 Easy Steps , can be broken down into simple steps: 1. How to find the right sponsors for your show 2. How to create an industry-standard sponsor proposal and negotiate the deal 3. How did Jeff Harry get on 60 podcasts in 6 months? He has a strategy that includes DM/email outreach to podcasters. In this short "Popcorn Episode" I breakdown his highly effective message into 9 parts: 1 - Let the host know you know their show. Say something specific 2 - Ask if the host has explored the area in which you have expertise. Briefly describe what you do 3 - Share a link that will help build credibility for your work (a book, article, speech, interview, video, etc) 4 - Suggest topics you would feel comfortable talking about. Remember that the host wants to know how you can provide VALUE to their audience. Suggest questions you could answer that would serve that specific audience 5 - Include social proof, accolades, credentials, awards to demonstrate why you stand out from the crowd 6 - Make your intention clear by stating how you would make an impact on the listeners. Include a link to previous #podcasts you’ve been on 7 - Offer to be a guest. Don’t ask. This is a subtle but important distinction. Notice how Jeff doesn’t say “can I be on your podcast?” as a question, instead he casually says “if any of this resonates, I’d love to continue this conversation” - Don’t beg to be on a #podcast …OFFER to be on one! 8 - Be upbeat, positive, and friendly 9 - Include a link to your most important online asset (website, social media profile, etc) This breaks down Jeff 's email, but this only part of his strategy. Check out his blog post that gives even greater insights into how he landed 60 interviews in 6 months: https://www.rediscoveryourplay.com/post/how-i-got-on-60-podcasts-in-the-last-6-months To check out Jeff 's interview on InsightOut check out these links: Apple: https://apple.co/2IQMIG9 Spotify: https://spoti.fi/2Tfz4hL Google: https://bit.ly/31v2mO4 Website: https://bit.ly/34juoOf You can also learn more about the amazing work he does to help people unleash their inner child

A radio host with 30 years behind the mic, Neal Veglio starting posting audio files of his show well before the birth of podcasting as we know it. Across the lifetime of his productions, he’s produced episodes that have been listened to by more than 15 million people.
