Feeling lonely? Ironically, you’re not alone (ironically). But here’s the thing... loneliness can make you a magnet for the wrong people! The ones who don’t have your best interests at heart. The ones who seem too good to be true at first… ... because they are! In this episode, I'll be talking about how certain types of people sniff out loneliness and use it to their advantage. If you’ve ever found yourself swept up in something that felt amazing at first but later left you drained, confused, or questioning yourself - this is an episode you'll want to make sure you arm yourself with, before you find yourself caught up with a tricky character in dating. You can expect to hear about: 🔥 Why loneliness makes you an easy target in dating 🔥 The red flags to watch for when someone’s love-bombing you 🔥 How to shift your energy so you attract the right kind of attention 🔥 What to focus on before jumping into a relationship This isn’t about scaring you off dating - it’s about making sure you’re stepping into it from a place of confidence, not desperation. And keeping those nasty characters away - and not letting your loneliness make you vulnerable. ----- RESOURCES: - Download my FREE Dating Non-Negotiables Guide - Visit my website: www.chantellethecoach.com - Follow me on Instagram: @ChantelleTheCoach - Follow me on TikTok: @ChantelleTheCoach And if you loved this episode, HIT SUBSCRIBE to stay up to date for your weekly dose of The Single Spark. ----- Music from Ep 110 onwards by Kadien Music. We’re always told that success = happiness. More money, more freedom, more security… right? But what if that’s not actually true? In this episode, we dive into a shocking revelation from YouTube giant MrBeast, who admitted on Diary of a CEO that he feels more unhappy than happy - despite having a billion-dollar empire, insane levels of success, and even a recent engagement. If someone who seemingly has it all still struggles with happiness, what does that mean for the rest of us? So today, I'm exploring: 💭 The myth that success guarantees happiness 💰 Why money and achievement don’t always lead to fulfillment ⚠️ The dangers of comparing ourselves to people who "have it all" 🏠 The pressure of financial security and why it’s not the magic fix 💕 What actually brings long-term happiness (hint: it’s not in your bank account) Plus, I’m sharing a recent trip that reminded me how real joy often comes from the simplest moments - ones we can access no matter where we are in life. This episode will make you rethink what happiness really looks like, especially when it comes to love, relationships, and self-worth. One of the biggest fears I had about getting into a relationship was losing my independence. I’ve spent years building a life I love - my own space, my own routine, my own decisions. And yet, society makes it seem like true commitment means merging your entire life with someone else. Moving in together, sharing everything, and eventually ticking off the next milestones like marriage and kids. But what if you don’t want to rush that? What if you love your independence but still want a strong, committed relationship? In this episode, I’m sharing my own experience of navigating this balance - being in a happy, long-term relationship while still keeping my autonomy and independence. I’ve lived on my own for five years, and despite being in a serious relationship for the more recent years, I’ve chosen to keep it that way! I’ll be diving into how I’ve made that work, the conversations I’ve had to have, and the boundaries I’ve set to make sure I don’t lose myself along the way. Here’s what I’ll be unpacking: 🏡 Why I still live alone (and how it’s strengthened my relationship) ⏳ The pressure to move in, get married, and have kids - and why I’m ignoring it 💬 How I communicate my need for space without making my partner feel rejected 🚧 Why setting boundaries actually brings you closer , not further apart 👶 Dating someone with kids - how I navigate that while keeping my own life intact 💡 How to hold onto your identity in a relationship (because you don’t have to lose yourself in love!) If you’ve ever felt the pressure to “prove” your commitment by giving up your independence, this episode is for you. You can have love and freedom - on your terms. If you're anything like me, you pride yourself on being a strong, independent millennial. One that can take care of themselves, works hard, and has set their life up to work for them. And when it comes to dating, of course you take that with you. But during my time, articles I read and commentary online started to suggest that being this strong, independent character could put people off, and might be reducing my chances of finding a gentlemen. So on today's episode, I'm bringing what I think about my strength and the impact it has on dating, whether it's more harmful than it is useful, and what to do if you're that type of girl in dating, and how to make it work for you, without losing your spark. If there's one thing that comes into question in the current state of the world, it's how to remain a truly strong, independent woman in a cost of living crisis. If you live on your own, you entirely rely on yourself - which is great... until a crisis makes everything cost that little bit more. There isn't the security of leaning on another half like couples do. And you still have to take the bins out yourself every week! So whilst I can't help with the latter, I've put together my best approaches to navigating these challenging times including ways to make money, save money and spend less. Solo adventures are one of my favourites - and going to the theatre alone is just one version of that. And just last week, Kate Maltby's article " Adopting a 'no seat should be left lonely' policy stigmatises solo theatregoing " in The Stage caught my eye - and I wanted to wade in on the conversation. Whether it's theatre and cinema going, or the solo person council tax discount, I wanted to reflect on the frustrations of solo adventures, the challenges posed by policies and how we can keep loving single life, even if it costs us more at times! For some if us, the idea of a relationship would be the gamechanger. If I just had a partner, I'd have someone to go as my plus one with me. If I was in a relationship, I'd be able to go on holiday with someone. If I had a boyfriend, I wouldn't be lonely. If I was married, I'd just be happier. And sure, relationships can bring so much joy, laughter, fun and happiness to the table, as well as the depth and intimacy of a connection that's harder to achieve with friends. But with the ever-problematic issue of chance coming into play when it comes to fate, it's a dangerous rope to be treading when we bundle our state of cotentment and happiness in something that you could be waiting on indefinitely. So in today's episode, I'll be exploring this deeper, to make sure you know the real realsons you can't wait around looking for a relationship to make you happy, and how you can bring about your own sense of happiness before a relationship is on the cards. You’ve been told to “play it cool”, “match their energy” and leave the same amount of time they take to reply to reply back to them. But despite all those things, you feel stressed, increasingly annoyed and spend the entire time clock-watching - whether that’s for when the last replied, eagerly awaiting their next reply, only to be disappointed when you check and there’s still no response… or you’re ticking down the time that you’ve limited yourself by to reply. Surely if this worked, we wouldn’t have to feel this way every time we were chatting to someone?! This was my exact thoughts when I was dating. It wasn’t meant to be this hard and stressful was it?! And I’m pleased to tell you, it doesn’t have to be! Sure, some people would’ve found a magic solution after implementing these things… but if your stress levels are sky high, and that sneaky anxious attachment is creeping in, this might not be the best way to date (and might even be keeping you single!) So join me for todays episode where we stop playing the dating games and start dating with more calm, ease and confidence - and still find the good ones! In today’s epsiode, you’re getting my approval to be out and proud about being single… AND want to be in a relationship at the same time. I’ve noticed a narrative in the single space that being single means you have to embrace singlehood only. And sure, there’s a time and a place to take a break from dating. For some, that break never ends! But for other singles, getting happy and accepting being single is one thing. To stay that way forever? That wasn’t on their lifetime bingo card! So move over being a single spinster forever *if that doesn’t suit you*. There’s room for being your own version of single, whether it lasts just a chapter or two, or takes us tight to the very end of your story. Looking back at Episode #9, there's a bunch of ways you can find new friends... but depsite the strategies shared in that episode, it can feel hard to find friends when you don't have that bestie like other people do. You yearn for someone that you can be as close as... But some friendships aren't meant to be forever. We certainly can't force that kind of friendship to occur. But our focus on those relationships means we overlook some of the best friendships that can fill up our lives, and that's situational friends. They're the ones you have a singular exprience with, probably to never see again, but you have an absolute blast getting to know at a festival, on a trip, whilst you're on a train. So in today's episode, I'm taking a deep dive into these alternative friendships to share the postive impact they can have on your lives (and how not all frienships are meant to last forever) ----- RESOURCES: - Download my FREE Dating Non-Negotiables Guide - Visit my website: www.chantellethecoach.com - Follow me on Instagram: @ChantelleTheCoach - Follow me on TikTok: @ChantelleTheCoach And if you loved this episode, HIT SUBSCRIBE to stay up to date for your weekly dose of The Single Spark. ----- Music from Ep 110 onwards by Kadien Music. I know I talk *a lot* about loneliness. If you’re single, we know it’s a risk factor, and that makes sense - you don’t have that person to go home to, you can be left out of invites from your coupled up friends who “didn’t think you’d want to be invited” and you can feel that sense of not being a priority to anyone… But I always want to emphasise that getting into a relationship doesn’t take that sense of loneliness away at times, of not feeling involved, not belonging… and here’s a very personal share of how that still exists in coupled up life. Just because you’re single doesn’t mean you’re lonely… but we know being single makes you more likely to experience loneliness, which can lead to all kinds of knock on effects to your mental health. It can make you feel like you don’t matter as much as other people, like no one would notice if you were gone, and like everyone else has other stuff going on all the time and there’s you, at home, wasting your evenings away on apps and box sets. But I’m here to share with you the real reason you’re feeling lonely, something I discovered during my own personal development journey of finding myself again and understanding what loneliness really was so I could tackle it head on. Taken from the inspiration of Episode 4, I share a moment I experienced in my personal development journey, when I started to question everything around me. And one of the things I had to look back at in my past, to work out where I got this skewed understanding of it from, and actually find out what it really meant was “what is love?”. So today, I’ll share with you the theory from Sternberg that changed my understanding and allowed me to apply it to my friendships and relationships, so I could get to the bottom of what love really was - instead of having the Disney princess version of love as the blueprint. Marriage is seen as the ultimate expression of love, the biggest commitment you can make to another and the desire and hope that it will last forever. As someone that's been married and divorced in their 20s, and experienced my own parents getting divorced as a child, marriage has been an interesting subject to explore, and the more I've explored and experienced, the more I've felt it necessary to share some of the realities of what marriage means in today's day and age. From personal experience, to looking at the stats, marriage needs to be a well-informed decision as opposed to the assumed trajectory of life. It doesn't guarantee you happiness, and it isn't always the answer to a fulfilling life, and it certainly isn't the only way to be happy and at ease with your life. Listen in to hear about the perspectives on marriage to consider for if and when the questions comes. *DISCLAIMER - The information provided in this podcast is for information purposes only based on my own experiences and research. Back when I first started dating, I had to learn ALL the basics. No matter how much dating content you consume, some of the lessons you learn ahead of time can't easily be applied in the moment. There's how you feel, all the "what if"s and you're dealing with the unpredicatbility of another person you don't really know. And as I soon learnt, dealing with not getting a reply in dating is one of the trickiest to balance - you don't want to look needy but you want a reply. You don't want to be left on read but what if something's genuinely happened to them. There's no exact right or wrong here, but two years on, I've come to my conclusions about how to deal with being left on read and not getting a reply in dating. It's important to remember that your happiness and emotional well-being matter too. Theories of attachment styles have been around for decades, originally being developed by John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth in the 1950's. They were originally based on the idea that we develop attachment styles based on our early childhood experiences with our caregivers. But what if it's not just about our early childhood? What if there are other origins for our attachment styles? In this video, I talk about the alternative factors that contribute to the development of attachment styles, which might give you the answer to why you've got an insecure attachment style even if your childhood upbringing was absolutely fine! From the very first episode of The Single Girl's Guide to Life, Chantelle explores the mindset shift you need to enjoy your single life and stop obsessing over dating. She dives into the pressure we experience when we're single to get back out there and date when we've only just got ourselves out of a relationship. It seems like everyone associates being in a relationship with being happy - and it just isn't true for us all and has limiting effects on how we can enjoy our single life if we stick with that mindset too. In this episode, I explore the many myths and misconceptions that surround the single life. Contrary to popular belief, being single is not a death sentence; it is a lifestyle choice that can be just as fulfilling and rewarding as being in a relationship. And getting into a relationship isn't the silver bullet for success and happiness either! Looking at the work from author and social psychologist, Bella DePaulo, I delve into the understanding of why single life isn't the be all and end all of our lives, and help spread the findings from DePaulo's research to debunk common misconceptions around the single life and provide guidance and encouragement to those who have chosen to embrace it. Whether you are single by choice or circumstance, this episode will help you see the many advantages of living a happy, fulfilling life without a romantic partner. I don't know about you but the dating process could be BORING at the best of times. From all the swiping, starting chats only to not hear back, it could feel like a success to even get a reply. But then when it came to arranging a first date and yet again, dinner and/or drinks was suggested?! It felt like a never ending loop of the same old thing. When you're single, dating is part of your social life. It shouldn't be the same all the time, and it needs a bit of variety. And it shouldn't be all serious anyway. Yes, you'd quite like to find a boyfriend but what better way to do that than when you're actually having fun rather than sat across a table much like an interview, hoping that the conversation doesn't dry up?! This week, I share my tips and tricks for making dating fun so that you can remember the difference between each date, and make it a exciting and memorable experience for you and your date that neither of you will forget! (And it won't even if you never see them again...) --------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- RESOURCES: - Download my FREE Dating Non-Negotiables Guide - Visit my website: www.chantellethecoach.com - Follow me on Instagram: @ChantelleTheCoach - Follow me on TikTok: @ChantelleTheCoach And if you loved this episode, HIT SUBSCRIBE to stay up to date for your weekly dose of The Single Spark. ----- Music from Ep 110 onwards by Kadien Music. The recent announcement of the all-male nominations for the Brit Awards Artist of the Year has sent some feminist in a spiral claiming lack of representation. As has become routine for certain sections of the media, this has sparked a debate on gender-neutral awards and whether or not this is a step backwards for feminism. Instead of jumping on the tabloid headline bandwagon, I take a step back to look at at some of the reasons behind the all men nominationss, considering the other category nominations, listening habits of the population and the wider context of what could drive males to have swept the floor for Artist of the Year. 2022 in Review: Looking back on 2022, it was a year of big changes and new beginnings. I quit my full-time job as a teacher, shifting into flexible, freelance work and settling on using supply teaching as a basis, and as much as I was prepared for that shift, it didn't go as smoothly for me mentally. With time and attention now on the business, I've had a creative year of learning new methods, trying out events and failing along the way. And I finally took a break from dating in the early part of the year, putting my attention on myself and the transition only to get back to the dating scene and go on a few dates. Reviews are your time for reflection, to check your highlights and summarise the year. Whether you need to put the year behind you, or will miss the fun and excitement of the year rolling out, looking back allows you to see how far you've come and to prepare for what's in store. And Chantelle shares her reflections and learnings on 2022 as she prepares to shift gear for 2023. And for others, it was a circumstance beyond our control. But whatever the reason, being single in 2022 taught us all some valuable life lessons. As a new year begins and we head into 2023, Chantelle takes a moment to reflect on the lessons learned from working with single women throughout the year and the repeating messages and themes that we can all get caught up with in single life. Divorced at 26? It's not the expectation many of us have after getting married but that was my reality. It’s now been three years since I separated from my then husband, and in that time, I’ve learned a lot about myself – some of those things I never would have realized if I’d stayed in my marriage. As painful and challenging as it is, I’ve grown and changed in ways I never would have thought possible, and I’m a stronger person now because of it. What the hell is "cuffing season"?! It's this time of year that the phrase gets thrown about again, becayse cuffing season is the period of time between autumnand winter when single people start looking for someone to date or “cuff” to avoid being alone during the colder months. Cuffing season has its advantages; if you're looking for company over the darker, colder winter months, then you can enjoy a short-term beau to have a distraction over the months. But if you’re single and looking to mingle and find someone for the long term, then cuffing season may not be for you. This week, Chantelle share tips for navigating cuffing season, no matter what your intention, and how to go about making the most of the opportunity that cuffing season can bring. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If this show is helpful to you, consider joining our amazing community of other single ladies at https://single-life-be-like.mn.co/ and you'll get access to monthly zoom meetings, The Single Girls Book Club and more! No one enters into a relationship expecting it to fail, but unfortunately, many relationships do. If you find yourself in the midst of a divorce or break-up, it can be a difficult and emotional time. It can be a tough process to go through, and it’s not made any easier by the fact that society doesn’t always make it easy for single women. In fact, it can often feel like the whole world is against you. However, it is important to remember that just because a relationship didn't work out, it doesn't mean that you nor the relationship are a failure. There is a lot to be learned from the experience, and it can be used as an opportunity to grow and become a better person. And there is no one right or wrong way to start afresh after a divorce or break up. It's a process that can take time, but there is a life after divorce, and you will eventually get to a point of being ready to celebrate your single life again. It seems like every time you tell someone what you want in a relationship, you’re met with the same argument: you’re being too picky. Your friends, your family, even strangers(!) will all tell you that you need to lower your standards if you ever want to find a boyfriend. And with an abundance of dating apps and websites, there’s a never-ending pool of potential partners to choose from. So, if you’re holding out for someone who meets all of your criteria, it can feel like you’ll never find them. But the truth is, you’re not being “too picky” – you’re just being selective. And there’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, having high standards is a good thing. On this week's episode of The Single Girl's Guide to Life, Chantelle discusses how having standards shows that you know what you want and how to hold those high standards, despite the scepticism that might surround you! ------------- If this show is helpful to you, consider joining our amazing community of other single ladies at https://single-life-be-like.mn.co/ and you'll get access to monthly zoom meetings, The Single Girls Book Club and more! There are so many things to think about when you travel abroad - what to pack, where to go, how to get around. It can be overwhelming! I've been there, and I've learned a few things along the way. Following my UK solo travel adventures, I took a trip abroad to a destination I didn't know until I was at the airport. One my travels, I recorded three reflections I had on my trip abroad and the experience of travelling alone to a different country. So here are three things I wish I knew before I went abroad on my own. The odds in the dating world seem to be against us. Why is it that we can't seem to find the one? Is it because we're looking in all the wrong places? Or is it because the universe is just playing a cruel trick on us? The statistics in dating suck. There are just too many people and not enough time to date them all. And, to make matters worse, people keep getting married and having kids, which means the pool of eligible singles keeps getting smaller. So, what's a single person to do? With roughly 1.5 billion people in the world who are single, there are only about 620 million potential mates for you to choose from. And of those, only a small percentage will be compatible with you. So the chances of finding a good match are pretty slim. Like the show? It's time to stop asking women why they're still single. We've all heard it before - that question lingering in the air after a woman has revealed her relationship status. And we've all cringed when someone has actually asked us that question directly. The answer, of course, is rather complex. But often times, it seems as if people are looking for a single reason or answer to explain why so many women are unattached. As single women, we're apparently miserable, we're over-educated and under-employed, and we're waiting for Mr. Right to come along (even though we've been waiting forever). Enough is enough. We're not going to take it anymore. We're done with being asked to defend our relationship status or explain why we don't have a boyfriend. We're done with being pitied or patronised. It's time to stop asking women why they're still single and accepting that not all women want the same things, that not all women will accept the bare minimum just to be in a relationship, and that women aren't enjoying their life being single anyway! Dealing with the end of a friendship can be just as difficult, if not more difficult, than dealing with the end of a romantic relationship. Friends are often there for us through thick and thin, and so when one friend breaks away from the group, it can feel like we’ve lost a huge part of our support network. Dealing with a friendship break-up can be tough, but there are ways to make the process a little bit easier on ourselves. This week, Chantelle discusses the different ways friendship break ups occur and how to handle a friendship ending, as well as ways of communicating with your friends, even in the difficult moments. One of the biggest barriers to attracting what you really want in your love life is expectations. When you have expectations, or fantasies about how something will go, or how things should go, then you're not going to be present with what's actually happening in that moment. And when we can't be present, things don't tend to go well. You sit and wonder about the "what ifs" and the "maybes" when the power of being able to let go can help you break free from the pain of holding onto something that never was, except for in your mind. This week, Chantelle discusses her recent experiences in dating and how learning to let go over time has allowed her to enjoy the dating process more, to stop worrying about what might happen and instead, live for the moment of enjoying getting to meet new people along the way. Weddings and Hen Dos can be expensive events to attend, and even more so when you're single. You're honoured to have been invited, you want to be there, and you're expected to be there too. But what do you do when you simply can't afford to attend all the events? How do you justify saying no without offending the bride or groom? How do you say no in a way that doesn't make people feel awkward or like they have to be more generous with your gift? In this week's episode of The Single Girl's Guide to life, Chantelle discusses some of the ways you can cut down the costs AND keep your social circle. She also discusses why you shouldn't feel responsible for attending every last wedding you get invited to and how to broach, what feels like, tricky conversations with the bride Like the show? Many of us struggle to love and accept ourselves, especially when we're single and are met with a stream of rejections through dating, or just not feeling "good enough" because we aren't coupled up. It's easy to feel like we don't deserve love when we don't unconditionally love or accept ourselves, and this week, self-love and happiness coach, Rosie Leach, is here to share her story of relationships and single-hood, and her best advice for you on your self-love journey. Rosie talks about going from a tickbox lifestyle to living a "F*** YES" life through her own journey of self-love, and shares her experience as a single mum as well. You’re happy to accept that dating is a numbers game. You’ll put the effort into swiping, starting conversations and making small talk - as much as you hate it - to whittle it down to a few successful people. You go on a few first dates, but yet again, those first dates aren’t turning into second dates all that often… It took me six more months to get another second date. And I’m my 2.5-year entirety of dating, I’ve only ever had 5 second dates. So why are 2nd dates so hard to get? Listen in to hear about the true reality of dating and how we can approach the process without getting so disheartened by it. Like the show? "But don't you want to get married and have kids?" It's the assumed goal that all women should apparently be striving for, but for the women that don't have those strong motherly urges, who aren't sure that they want children and feel they have to keep it a secret, this episode is for you. From Chantelle's own perspective of being unsure of children and leaning towards a "no", she looks to open up the conversation around choosing to be child-free, and how you can still have an influence and impact in children's life without being a parent. If you're feeling frustrated with love, don't worry - you're not alone. From the moment we watched Disney movies as a child, our expectations of love became set. The adoration of love in the look of another's eyes, the big romantic gestures, and the love conquers all narrative. But love isn't like the movies. Relationships are complex. People argue, get mad at each other, and go through tough times together. Instead of ending at Happily Ever After, Chantelle discusses our expectations around love and relationships to challenge the idealised version of love portrayed in Hollywood rom-coms and dramas and instead. Every millennial has felt the pressure to keep going, to stick it through to the end. In this success-focussed, "must get be seen to be doing well" world, quitting can be seen as a negative. As a millennial, you might feel you have to follow suit, get your head down and follow the path we committed ourselves to at 18. Whether it's a relationship, a job, a project that you're invested in, there are times when quitting the right thing to do. If you're unhappy in your situation, or don't see your future panning out that way, it may be time to quit. And that can feel scary too! In this week's episode, Chantelle discusses why you may feel apprehensive about quitting and why it's okay to quit sometimes, without feeling like a failure. Like the show? Being single has its perks. You can do what you want, when you want, without having to answer to anyone. But while this sense of freedom is enticing at first, it can quickly become lonely and daunting if you try to do everything on your own. This is especially true when it comes to certain tasks or activities that are easier (and more fun) when done in pairs or groups. This week, Chantelle talks through three reasons why you should make time for others in your single life, even if you still want to keep some time for yourself. Like the show? Do you ever feel the optimism of dating in the early weeks to find that you're freaking out about the fact they might leave? Or maybe it seems like a good idea to start dating in the beginning, but the more serious it gets, the more worried you become about commitment? Attachment Theory, the psychological theory developed by John Bowlby in the 1940s, could be the reason behind it. And as single ladies navigating the dating world, it's worth knowing our own attachment styles as well as the attachment styles of others. In this episode, Chantelle discusses the behaviours and thoughts associated with the different styles and how this can play out in dating scenarios and the impact it has on the odds of your success in dating. Following the recent media coverage of Molly-Mae Hague's comments of "we all have the same 24 hours in a day", the topic of privilege has been brought to the forefront again. Taking many forms, privilege occurs in race, class, ability, wealth and one of the most obvious to single women, gender. As a single woman, it's important to be mindful of the privileges you have and how they affect your relationships with others. While single women still face many social stigmas and stereotypes about being in our 30s and 40s without being married, there are also privileges we hold, as women or otherwise, and knowing about privilege and acting accordingly can make all the difference to the world. Are you #TeamSummer or #TeamTom? Back in 2009, you might’ve found yourself hating Summer for what she did to Tom in the classic “this is not a love story” of 500 Days of Summer. And this makes the film a perfect discussion point for lessons to be learned when being single and navigating the dating world. It’s easy to think negatively of single life. To compare yourself to others in relationships, feel like it’s never going to happen for you and feel sad and deflated by it. But there’s a truth to changing your thoughts changing your reality. Our minds are powerful things and our brains can’t tell the difference between the truth and what we make up. If you continue to tell yourself you’re sad about being single, you’ll believe it. The same goes for if you repeat thoughts on how unloveable you are. And this is why mindset has such an impact. It can’t fix every aspect of your life, but I can set you up to see things from a new perspective so that you can let go and focus on enjoying your single life right now. In this week’s episode, Chantelle discusses the power of mindset and how to start adopting the mindset to get you through your single life. ----- If this show is helpful to you, consider joining our amazing community of other single ladies at https://single-life-be-like.mn.co/ and you'll get access to monthly zoom meetings, The Single Girls Book Club and more! Heartbreak leads to greif, disappointment, despair, loss and confusion. What we once thought might be forever shatters in front of us and it's no longer anything, never to be the same again. Healing through heartbreak is hard work. As cliché as it sounds, time is a healer too. But you can help yourself to heal through the heartbreak by journalling. Journalling involves expressing yourself, getting your thoughts and feelings out of your system and on to paper. It makes your feelings a reality, and one in which you start to document, dig and explore the feelings and how you move on from heartbreak. In this episode of The Single Girl's Guide to Life, Chantelle discusses why journalling can be help you to process a break up and heal after divorce. Techniques and approaches are discussed as well as the benefits to why journalling might work for you. ----- If this show is helpful to you, consider joining our amazing community of other single ladies at https://single-life-be-like.mn.co/ and you'll get access to monthly zoom meetings, The Single Girls Book Club and more! It's a challenging time when the anniversary of your time together with your ex comes up. The day rolls back round again. It's a week or two away, but you know it's coming up soon. Friends have offered to be around to distract you, and part of you wants the distraction, but you also know that it's only going to delay you from acknowledging the day. Whether that's with heap of tears, or a sense of relief, a reflection of where you've come from the break up to how strong you are now that you've been through it. Whether it was three months ago, or three years, you're bound to get all those feels coming up and the "what ifs" of what could've been and might've been play on your mind. You can't stop thinking about your ex and the life that you dreamt you had together - and though you've moved past the biggest struggle and let that vision go, the anniversary day triggers you in all kinds of ways that bring up the memories of first dates, Valentine's Days, and happy memories on previous anniversaries, including your wedding day for some. In this episode, I'll be exploring how you can approach the day and make sure you work through the day with the assurance that no matter what emotion it is, your feelings are valid. ----- Key Moments: "Your feelings are entirely valid for however you feel about this day." "Looking back, you think about the best bits of your relationship." "Distraction is not the best way to deal with anniversary-related thoughts and feelings." "Your time with that person and that magical day is still as magical as it was, or as magical as you choose to believe it was." "Look back at what you were doing this time last year. How far have you come from the last anniversary to this anniversary?" "What have you been able to do in your life now that you have not been with that person?" "You might be in a position where you can talk to your new partner about that, or it might not be something they're prepared to talk to you about, but still process it." --- Like the show? We as millennials are the most connected generation so far. Though Gen Z might be hot on our heels, they're still in school or university, surrounded by hundreds of people (when we aren't in lockdown) and meeting hundreds of people, day-in, day-out. Cut to your late 20s and beyond, and your social ties diminish. The house parties slow down, friends start to get married and have families of their own and we're all busy saving to move out, that we can't afford to go out and socialise. But if you're so connected otherwise with the thousands of friends and followers we've accumulated through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and beyond, then why do we still feel so lonely? Even if our friends are heading off into different directions, why are we finding it so hard to keep in touch and end up as the loneliest generation to date. Proximity and exposure to new people is just one reason - but why do you feel that loneliness so much? Is it okay that you’re feeling this way? Listen in to this week's episode to find out why millennials are so lonely and what might be catching you out to feel that way. ----- If this show is helpful to you, consider joining our amazing community of other single ladies at https://single-life-be-like.mn.co/ and you'll get access to monthly zoom meetings, The Single Girls Book Club and more! When you go through a break up or divorce, everything is put into question. “Was it even worth it?” “Why didn’t it last forever?” “Will I always be alone?” And so many more. But one question that you can think about, intentionally or otherwise is… “What is love?” And not just those simple answers of… it’s a feeling, it’s the cute, romantic gestures someone does for you. But what is love, really? And more importantly, “Is everything I knew about love wrong?!” In this episode, Chantelle starts to scratch beyond the surface of what love really is, of what our relationships means and how you can look at love. This week, Chantelle's delve into a theory on love that can help you to see you relationships and connections with more clarity and understanding so that you can look at where all your friendships sit and how they play a part in your life. ----- Key Moments: "If you are going to venture back into dating, you want to be clear on what it is you're looking to fulfill and how easy it is to do that to say or what the likelihood of getting those things is." "Passion doesn't have to encompass anything sexual at all." "Relationships and connections can change in a day because they fluctuate based on what's going on." "Part of life is accepting that it's going to change, and no matter how many plans you put in place, there's always a curveball ready to catch you around the corner." "How could you use this model to inform developing your relationships, making them better, much stronger than they are, be that platonic or romantic connections?" ----- RESOURCES: - Download my FREE Dating Non-Negotiables Guide - Visit my website: www.chantellethecoach.com - Follow me on Instagram: @ChantelleTheCoach - Follow me on TikTok: @ChantelleTheCoach And if you loved this episode, HIT SUBSCRIBE to stay up to date for your weekly dose of The Single Spark. ----- Music from Ep 110 onwards by Kadien Music. We've all be there! You're starting to date someone, things are looking promising and then comes THAT time.... that time when you're messaging someone and they suddenly stop responding the way they did before. You want to play it cool and give them time so you don't look "crazy" or "psycho", but they could at least let you know why they haven't answered your question. You head to Google to search when it's okay to message again. One article says 3 days, that gives him enough time. The other says, acknowledge it within 24-48 hours if you've been texting as regularly as that anyway. And another suggests you cut your losses and run, leave it in their court - if a guy wants to see you and get to know you, he'll text you! So you end up even more confused than you were to start with! In this episode, Chantelle discusses why we react the way we do, the dilemma of when to text back and a way to manage your reactions to not having a guy message back, no matter how long you've been message. ----- Key Moments: "What to do when you don't get a reply: This is literally the bane of anybody's life when you are in the mix of trying to date or just find people to connect with." "It's bloody horrible. And you can't help but associate the ghosting and the non-replies to you." "We, as women, tend to automatically blame ourselves. We always put that on ourselves and find it very difficult to set our boundaries." "There's no perfect way to handle this, but you can be happy with what you continue to do and what you learn." "It's difficult to be assertive but polite, but it's something that you have to do, and you only get better by practicing." "Communication is key in all of this." "What’s done is done. You can worry about, 'Did I make the right or wrong choice?' Ultimately, everything happens in this life for a reason." ----- RESOURCES: - Download my FREE Dating Non-Negotiables Guide - Visit my website: www.chantellethecoach.com - Follow me on Instagram: @ChantelleTheCoach - Follow me on TikTok: @ChantelleTheCoach And if you loved this episode, HIT SUBSCRIBE to stay up to date for your weekly dose of The Single Spark. ----- Music from Ep 110 onwards by Kadien Music. I'm sure you've wondered "Why haven't I got it all figured out yet?", "why am I the only one left when all my friends are settling down and having kids?". It's easy to think that you should have all o f it figured out by the time you're 25, or at the very latest 30. But I'm here to reassure you that isn't the case. Yes, a number of people follow that path. They heard what society said, what we were told from when we grew up, from our parents, teachers, friends, family, and other people we met along the way and most were telling the same story: when you grow up, you need to get a good job, buy a house, get married, have kids and settle down. Now it's still not wrong to want those things. You might want exactly that or nothing at all, but to think you have to have it all worked out as to as and when just isn't the case. ---- Key Moments: "We start by thinking that everybody has got it sussed out. Like, hands up if your friends are settling down, getting married, having kids, seem to have like their jobs all sussed, and living on their own, have their own place, and it’s all sorted." "It's this comparison culture that causes overwhelming feelings." "It's that conflict of pleasing ourselves or pleasing others." "You are not alone in the experience." "Action is the key here." "In 10 years’ time, if you're still in the same scenario you are now in that area, would you regret it?" That's it, the UK is set to open back up after a lengthy and slow release out of lockdown and dating is back on the scene. The summer vibes are coming (even if it doesn't look that way right now!) but you haven't dated for AGES! I know some of you are a bit wary - that's okay, it's a different world out there now and you have the right to take it easy. And there's also others of you at the other end of the spectrum that just want to get out there and mingle at a bar and dance the night away. Dating is one of the toughest games in the business. There's so much casual rejection in dating apps, it's effortful and tiresome, but from my own experiences and from talking to other single women, I've put together dating advice for ways of managing your experience particularly coming out of lockdown to date. Whether your single, separated or divorced, follow these tips for making the most of the experience if you're looking to get back to dating. ----- Key Moments: "Make sure you still put yourself first." There are a million reasons why you don't want to be single - you want to move out of your parent's house, you don't want to be alone forever, and you don't want to be the only one not getting married and settling down. And there are also a million things you're doing to make the situation worse - like constantly wishing you weren't single, getting yourself worked up about never being in love again and comparing yourself to where everyone else is at in life. Well, I've been there! In 2019, I was a divorced, 20-something, millennial and for the first time as an adult, I was single. And I had all these feels just like you, wondering what went wrong and if I'd ever make it out of this situation. Plus I was making all the classic mistakes that you do after a break up like trying to date again way too early. But I worked through these feelings. I took action and I shifted my mindset - and two years on, I'm still single and literally, SO happy about that. In this episode, you'll learn to keep control of your own happiness and you'll realise that living life as a single woman isn't all that bad when you think about it in the end, as I share 8 ways you can make the most of your single life so that you can enjoy this journey, rather than get stressed out about "being on track" all the time. So which one of the eight are you going to make the most of this week? ----- Key Moments: "Your happiness is within your behaviors; the way I act, what I do, and the actions I take, not with the end result of achieving something that is ultimately out of my control." "You are in fact completely and utterly enough, and you aren't going to be on your own forever." "You have to get used to the idea that if you really were the only person left in the world and you only had yourself to rely on, you would be okay." "It's important that you do question things because we kind of prescribed what love and relationships should look like." "Love is love, whatever form it takes." "You take ownership of your life, not just in your decisions, not just in your time, not just in your love and relationship, but you are fully empowered in your single state to reflect and realise what it is you want fr ----- RESOURCES: - Download my FREE Dating Non-Negotiables Guide - Visit my website: www.chantellethecoach.com - Follow me on Instagram: @ChantelleTheCoach - Follow me on TikTok: @ChantelleTheCoach And if you loved this episode, HI
