The story began in the 1990s, when a man named "Mel Waters" called into a radio show, claiming to have discovered a strange, seemingly bottomless pit on his property in Washington State. He referred to this location as "Mel's Hole." The main elements of the legend include: The Hole's Depth: Mel Waters claimed that the hole was extraordinarily deep, possibly over 80,000 feet (15 miles), though there was no way to measure it. When he and others dropped objects into the hole, they reported hearing no sound, suggesting that it went on infinitely. Strange Properties: Waters described odd phenomena surrounding the hole, such as animals dying near the site, unexplained electromagnetic effects, and even claims that the hole had the ability to "bring things back to life" or regenerate items dropped into it. The Mysterious Ownership: Waters also claimed that after his initial exploration, government agents started showing interest in the hole, and he was allegedly pressured to stop discussing it publicly. While the story has captivated conspiracy theorists and the curious, there’s no concrete evidence to verify the existence of the hole. Many consider it to be a hoax, while others suggest it might be based on some true event or place that was exaggerated for effect. Despite the mystery, Mel's Hole remains a fascinating topic in paranormal circles. Mel's Hole is a mythical bottomless pit in the Manastash hills of Washington state. Beneath the bustling city lies a labyrinth of bones, a vast ossuary containing the remains of over six million people. But beyond its historical significance, the Catacombs have long been associated with ghostly encounters, mysterious disappearances, and an overwhelming sense of unease that grips those who dare to venture inside. As Jen and Joe delve into the history, they uncover the macabre origins of the Catacombs, originally created in the late 18th century to combat the overflowing cemeteries of Paris. With bodies piling up in church graveyards, leading to unsanitary conditions and disease outbreaks, officials made the grim decision to transfer human remains into the city’s underground tunnels, formerly used as limestone quarries. Over the years, the bones were arranged in eerie, artistic formations, creating what is now one of the most hauntingly beautiful and unsettling places on Earth. While the Catacombs attract thousands of tourists each year, they are also the site of numerous paranormal reports. Many visitors have claimed to hear whispers echoing through the passageways, despite no one else being around. Others have seen shadowy figures darting between the bone-lined corridors or felt sudden temperature drops that send shivers down their spines. Stretching across eight states, this iconic road has been the setting for countless ghost stories, eerie legends, and unexplained phenomena. Travelers venturing down Route 66 have reported ghostly hitchhikers, abandoned towns frozen in time, and roadside motels where spectral figures linger long after check-out. Could the highway itself be haunted? Some believe that the long, lonely stretches of road, once bustling with life, now carry the echoes of the past—spirits forever trapped along America’s most famous highway. Jennifer and Joe explore some of the most infamous haunted locations along Route 66, starting with the legendary Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, often dubbed "America’s Most Haunted Hotel." Guests have reported apparitions, disembodied voices, and even ghostly hands touching them in the night. Moving westward, they delve into the eerie tales surrounding the El Rancho Hotel in Gallup, New Mexico, a favorite stop for Hollywood stars in its heyday, now said to be haunted by restless spirits of guests who never left. Then, there's the Oatman Hotel in Arizona, where the ghost of Clark Gable’s late wife, Carole Lombard, is said to roam the halls, and where phantom laughter is often heard in empty rooms. Known for its lush landscapes, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant coral reefs, St. John is also steeped in stories of the supernatural. The island is a blend of paradise and mystery, with its history marked by dark events that have left an indelible imprint on its landscape. Our exploration begins with the infamous Jumbles, a series of ghostly occurrences tied to the island's storied past. The Jumbles are said to be a place where the spirits of the past linger, their restless souls wandering among the trees and ruins. The history of St. John includes times of upheaval, with its indigenous populations, colonial influences, and even tales of piracy all contributing to the island’s unsettling atmosphere. Locals claim to have witnessed strange happenings around the Jumbles, where the air turns cold and whispers echo through the dense forest. These phenomena are believed to be tied to both the island’s dark history and the unresolved conflicts that occurred there. Some say the spirits of those who died in battle or of unnatural causes never left, forever bound to the land they once occupied. The next chilling tale we unravel is that of Robert Oppenheimer’s haunted beach, a place that seems to carry an energy that cannot be explained by science or reason. Oppenheimer, best known as one of the key figures behind the development of the atomic bomb, had a significant connection to St. John, where he spent time on the island. This particular beach, however, has become the center of paranormal activities. These eerie figures, often described as children between the ages of 6 and 16, are said to appear in rural or suburban areas, usually at night, and ask for help—sometimes for a ride, a place to stay, or to use a phone. What sets these children apart is their unsettling appearance. While they look like ordinary kids, their most disturbing feature is their completely black eyes—no whites, no irises—just solid black orbs that seem to hold a sinister, almost otherworldly energy. Witnesses report feelings of intense fear and unease when encountering them, often accompanied by a strong, inexplicable urge to avoid them at all costs. The first accounts of Black-Eyed Children began appearing on the internet in the late '90s, with stories circulating online about strange encounters. These children typically exhibit unnatural behavior, like insisting on entering the home or vehicle of the person they approach, often with a sense of urgency and demand. While many theories about their origins exist, ranging from extraterrestrial beings to ghosts or even cryptids, there is no definitive answer as to who or what they truly are. Some believe they’re manifestations of pure evil, others think they’re a kind of interdimensional being, or perhaps something darker still. In this episode, we explore these haunting encounters, dive into the chilling stories that have circulated for years, and discuss the possible explanations behind this unsettling phenomenon. This sacred event is steeped in symbolism and ancient traditions, representing both spiritual renewal and the passage of time. During a Jubilee Year, which occurs every 25 years, Holy Doors in various cathedrals and basilicas around the world are opened for the faithful to pass through. This ritual is believed to offer a special opportunity for forgiveness and indulgence, as it is a moment for pilgrims to experience a deep connection with their faith. We’ll dive into the history and origins of the Holy Door tradition, tracing it back to the 15th century when Pope Boniface VIII first declared the concept of a Jubilee Year. The Holy Door is sealed for most of the year and only opened during the Jubilee to create a passage for spiritual purification. For Catholics, walking through the Holy Door symbolizes stepping closer to God, with the door acting as a gateway to grace and divine mercy. Many believe that certain things found in thrift stores, particularly antiques or personal belongings, may harbor unsettling energy or even be haunted. Old furniture, for example, has long been associated with ghostly activity, as these objects have absorbed the lives and emotions of their previous owners. An antique rocking chair, worn and creaky, may seem harmless at first, but its age and worn upholstery might carry with it the residual memories of past generations. Stories abound of people purchasing vintage items like mirrors or paintings, only to experience strange occurrences at home—whispering sounds, cold drafts, or fleeting glimpses of figures in the reflection. Mirrors are especially potent in folklore, as they are believed to be portals between worlds, and when found in a secondhand store, they often carry with them a sense of unease, as if they might reveal more than just a reflection. Old clothing, too, can be an unsettling item to find at a thrift store. Personal items like hats, coats, or shoes, especially when they come from older eras, can evoke an eerie sense of connection with the past. It is said that these garments may still hold traces of the former owner’s spirit or energy, creating an unexplainable feeling of being watched or followed. People who wear vintage clothing have reported feeling out of place or experiencing a sudden surge of emotions or memories that don't seem to belong to them. Items such as old photographs, dolls, and toys also hold the potential for strange, supernatural experiences. Dolls in particular are notorious for being haunted, as they often represent a child’s innocence and can, in some beliefs, house spirits or memories from the past. Located primarily in rural, isolated areas, many haunted covered bridges are linked to dark and tragic events, such as fatal accidents, unsolved murders, or disappearances. The haunting tales that surround these bridges often involve restless spirits, lingering from the past, whose lives were abruptly cut short. For example, the Blair Covered Bridge in Ohio is infamous for being the site of a woman’s murder, with reports of her ghostly presence wandering the area. The legend has it that her apparition still roams the bridge, crying out for justice or lost love. Similarly, in Pennsylvania, the "Ghost Bridge" near the small town of Sewickley is said to be haunted by the spirits of a family who died in a tragic crash. The eerie isolation and history of these structures make them a perfect setting for ghost stories. Those who venture into these bridges often report strange occurrences, such as inexplicable cold spots, the sounds of footsteps or whispering voices, and the sudden appearance of shadowy figures. Some even claim to see ghostly figures standing on the bridge, vanishing as quickly as they appear. Despite their spooky reputations, these haunted bridges also hold a sense of beauty and nostalgia, standing as silent witnesses to the past. Whether one believes in the paranormal or not, haunted covered bridges continue to captivate the imagination, blending history, legend, and mystery into unforgettable stories of the supernatural. Bigfoot, the legendary cryptid, is usually depicted as a mysterious, elusive creature hiding in the forests, but there's definitely a humorous side to him too! Here are a few playful ideas about Bigfoot that bring out his funny side: The World's Shiest Superstar: Bigfoot could easily be the most famous creature no one has ever truly met. He's like the introvert of the cryptid world—always leaving blurry photos and questionable footprints but never sticking around for the autograph! Master of Hide-and-Seek: Bigfoot's entire existence could just be one long game of hide-and-seek. Imagine him seeing a group of campers approaching and thinking, "Oh no, they're coming! Time to blend into the trees and pretend I'm a log again." He might just be the champion of forest hide-and-seek, winning every time without even trying. Clumsy Fashion Icon: Bigfoot is often described as a big, hairy, oversized creature. What if he’s just trying to keep up with the latest trends? Imagine him walking into a forest and suddenly tripping over a rock in his oversized, shaggy outfit. "You’re supposed to be a creature of grace!" he'd mutter, adjusting his mossy beard. Giant Prankster: Maybe Bigfoot isn’t avoiding people so much as pulling pranks. He might leave a huge set o

In Alaska, sightings of this elusive creature have contributed to the state's rich tapestry of mysterious stories. Often described as a large, ape-like being covered in dark hair, Bigfoot is said to inhabit the dense forests, remote mountain ranges, and vast wilderness areas of Alaska. The state's rugged terrain, with its dense woods, snow-covered peaks, and expansive swamps, makes it an ideal setting for such a cryptid to remain hidden from human eyes. Many locals and visitors claim to have seen large footprints, heard eerie howls, or found strange hair samples that they believe belong to Bigfoot. Native Alaskan tribes, including the Tlingit and the Athabaskan, have long had their own versions of the creature in their oral traditions, describing forest-dwelling beings that are often seen as spiritual or supernatural entities. The legend of Bigfoot continues to thrive in Alaska, where it is part of a larger fascination with the unexplained and the wild frontier. In this episode, Joe and Jenifer dive into the fascinating history of Halloween, tracing its roots back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. They discuss how this celebration, held on October 31st, marked the end of the harvest season and was believed to be a time when the veil between the living and the dead was thinnest. Joe highlights how the Celts lit bonfires and donned costumes to protect themselves from wandering spirits. Jenifer adds that as Christianity spread, the festival evolved into All Hallows' Eve, setting the stage for modern Halloween. They explore the significant impact of Irish immigrants in the 19th century, who brought the holiday to America and helped shape its contemporary form. Trick-or-treating emerges as a key topic, with Joe explaining how this custom evolved from ancient practices into a community-centered activity by the 1920s. Jenifer notes that Halloween became increasingly popular, transforming from a night of superstition into a festive celebration characterized by costumes, parties, and candy. Elliot poem, The Waste Land. The poem was inspired by the real-life experience of Ernest Shackleton — an Irish explorer who went on a near-death expedition in Antarctica in 1916. After their ship got trapped in ice, he and two other members of his crew made a 36-hour long trek across the Arctic, over mountains and glaciers, to a whaling station. During that time, several members of his three-man team — Ernest included — kept feeling like there was a fourth man alongside them. T.S. Elliot wrote this stanza inspired by that phenomenon: What is the cause of the third man syndrome? No one really knows what causes third man syndrome. Many people claim it is a hallucination or coping mechanism triggered by extreme stress while others believe it is help given by a guardian angel. What is an example of the third man phenomenon? Examples in the book The Third Man Factor by John Geiger include a solo sailor who believed an unseen companion steered his ship through a storm, a woman in a collapsed building who reported a monk gave her an apple, a solo mountaineer who believed he was roped to someone else and thus descended a peak cautiously. What is the third man syndrome in Christianity? There is a phenomenon that many people who found themselves in survival situations have experienced. The phenomenon? It's something referred to as the "third man factor", where a person finds that even though they are physically alone, they feel a presence by their side. A new study reveals that these sorts of hallucinations -- sometimes called ``third man syndrome'' -- are more mysterious than

In a small city in the Czechia republic sits a restaurant with some strange activities In todays episode we talk about the strange things happening without exclamation. The phenomenon is called Apport. In parapsychology and Spiritualism, an apport is the alleged paranormal transference of an article from one place to another, or an appearance of an article from an unknown source that is often associated with poltergeist activity or séances. Apports reported during séances have been found to be the result of deliberate fraud. No medium or psychic has demonstrated the manifestation of an apport under scientifically controlled conditions. History A famous apport fraud is attributed to Charles Bailey (1870–1947). During a séance, Bailey produced two live birds seemingly out of thin air, but was undone when the dealer who sold him the birds appeared in the crowd. Common objects that are produced are stones, flowers, perfumes, and animals. These objects are said to be "gifts" from the spirit(s). In March 1902 in Berlin, police officers interrupted a séance of the apport medium Frau Anna Rothe. Her hands were grabbed and she was wrestled to the ground. A female police assistant physically examined Rothe and discovered 157 flowers as well as oranges and lemons hidden in her petticoat. She was arrested and charged with fraud.[4] After a trial lasting six days she was sentenced to eighteen months imprisonment. In 1926, Heinrich Melzer was exposed as a fraud as he was caught in the séance room with small stones attached to the back of his ears by flesh coloured tape. According to neurologist Terence Hines "Some female mediums went so far as to conceal in their vagina or anus objects to be 'apported' during the seance and gauzy fabric that would become 'ectoplasm' during the seance. These were places that Victorian gentlemen, no matter how skeptical, were highly unlikely to ask to search." There are many cases where apports hav

In German folklore a poltergeist (/ˈpoʊltərˌɡaɪst/ or /ˈpɒltərˌɡaɪst/; German: [ˈpɔltɐɡaɪ̯st] ⓘ; 'rumbling ghost' or 'noisy spirit') is a type of ghost or spirit that is responsible for physical disturbances, such as loud noises and objects being moved or destroyed. Most claims or fictional descriptions of poltergeists show them as being capable of pinching, biting, hitting, and tripping people. They are also depicted as capable of the movement or levitation of objects such as furniture and cutlery, or noises such as knocking on doors. Foul smells are also associated with poltergeist occurrences, as well as spontaneous fires and different electrical issues such as flickering lights. These manifestations have been recorded in many cultures and countries, including Brazil, Australia, the United States, Japan and most European nations. The first recorded cases date back to the 1st century. Etymology The word poltergeist comes from the German language words poltern 'to make sound, to rumble' and Geist 'ghost, spirit' and the term itself translates as 'noisy ghost', 'rumble-ghost' or a 'loud spirit'. A synonym coined by René Sudre is thorybism, from the Ancient Greek θορυβείν (thorubeín) 'to make noise or uproar, to throw into confusion'. A POLTERGEIST that reportedly terrorised a Humpty Doo home for four months in 1998 is considered one of the most significant supernatural occupations of its kind, according to a new book by men who spent time in the house. “It doesn’t take long for most reasonable people to believe there is a genuine effect, a genuine phenomenon, the disagreement comes over what causes it, a departed spirit, a demonic other or mind of matter ...” the Humpty Doo poltergeist experience started in about January 1998 and went on for about four months. ghost in Darwin’s rural area was known for hurling stones, batteries, spanners, shards of broken glass and even knives at the housemates who resided at 90 McMinns Drive. two Catholic priests and one Greek Orthodox priest tried to exorcise it, but it just seemed to aggravate it. Arnold, researcher of the giant in Aruba, author of "The Islands of the Giants: The Lost Race of Giants of Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao. joins us to give new updates on her findings and to talk about the research she did of the Rapa Nui, the giants of easter Island and the amazing journey to the Isla de Pascua. Easter Island (Rapa Nui: Rapa Nui) is an island and special territory of Chile in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, at the southeasternmost point of the Polynesian Triangle in Oceania. The island is most famous for its nearly 1,000 extant monumental statues, called moai, which were created by the early Rapa Nui people. In 1995, UNESCO named Easter Island a World Heritage Site, with much of the island protected within Rapa Nui National Park. Experts disagree on when the island's Polynesian inhabitants first reached the island. While many in the research community cited evidence that they arrived around the year 800, a 2007 study found compelling evidence that they arrived closer to 1200. The inhabitants created a thriving and industrious culture, as evidenced by the island's numerous enormous stone moai and other artifacts. But land clearing for cultivation and the introduction of the Polynesian rat led to gradual deforestation. By the time of European arrival in 1722, the island's population was estimated to be 2,000 to 3,000. European diseases, Peruvian slave raiding expeditions in the 1860s, and emigration to other islands such as Tahiti further depleted the population, reducing it to a low of 111 native inhabitants in 1877. Chile annexed Easter Island in 1888. In 1966, the Rapa Nui were granted Chilean citizenship. In 2007 the island gained the constitutional status of "special territory" (Spanish: territorio especial). Administratively, it belongs to the Valparaíso Region, constituting a single commune (Isla de Pascua) of the Province of Isla de Pascua. The 2017 Chilean census registered 7,750 people on the island, of whom 3,512 (45%) considered themselves Rapa Nui. Easter Island is one of the world's remotest inhabited islands.[8] The nearest inhabited land (around 50 residents in 2013) is Pitcairn Island, 2,075 kilometres (1,289 mi) away; the nearest town with a population over 5

Some may have factual origins, while others are completely fictional. But myths are more than mere stories and they serve a more profound purpose in ancient and modern cultures. Myths are sacred tales that explain the world and man's experience. What is the purpose of a myth? People created myths thousands of years ago to tell how the world and things in it came to be. Myths also help to explain how people act or why things exist. What is a myth that explains something? An origin myth is something that cultures use to explain natural or social events in mythological terms. An example of this is the creation of the world through the tearing apart of a giant. What is classified as a myth? A usually traditional story of ostensibly historical events that serves to unfold part of the world view of a people or explain a practice, belief, or natural phenomenon. What does a myth contain? While all myths are different, myths as such attempt to explain everyday phenomena. They typically involve gods or deities with supernatural powers, may or may not contain a hero or someone on a quest, and were passed down through oral tradition. Is a myth a lie or truth? The Oxford English Dictionary defines myth as a synonym for "untruth", "falsehood", or "lie". But the word has a long history and an equally long range of meanings. Aaron Sagers ... is a Storyteller. Sixty-two pupils at the Ariel School aged between six and twelve said that they saw one or more silver craft descend from the sky and land on a field near their school. Some of the children claimed that one or more creatures dressed all in black then approached and telepathically communicated to them a message with an environmental theme, frightening them and causing them to cry. The Fortean writer Jerome Clark has called the incident the “most remarkable close encounter of the third kind of the 1990s”. Some skeptics have described the incident as one of mass hysteria. Not all the children at the school that day stated that they saw something. Several of those that did maintain that their account of the incident is true. Background Ruwa is a small agricultural center located 22 kilometers (14 mi) south-east of the capital Harare. At the time of the incident, it was not a town but only a local place-name, "little more than a crossroads in an agricultural region". Ariel School was an expensive private school. Most of the pupils were from wealthy white families in Harare. Two days prior to the incident at Ariel there had been a number of UFO sightings throughout southern Africa. There had been numerous reports of a bright fireball passing through the sky at night. Many people answered ZBC Radio's request to call in and describe what they had seen. Although some witnesses interpreted the fireball as a comet or meteor, it resulted in a wave of UFO mania in Zimbabwe at the time. According to skeptic Brian Dunning, the fireball "had been the re-entry of the Zenit-2 rocket from the Cosmos 2290 satellite launch. The booster broke up into burning streaks as it moved silently across the sky, giving an impressive light show to millions of Africans. “Local UFO researcher Cynthia Hind recorded other alien sightings at t

Music by Dead in 5, Second Season. Ohio State Reformitory The Ohio State Reformatory was designed by Cleveland architect Levi Scofield. Scofield designed the striking limestone building to be an uplifting, inspiring, and intimidating structure. The Reformatory was originally called the “Intermediate Penitentiary” since it accepted inmates who were too old for juvenile corrections but had committed offenses more minor than those that sent others to the Ohio State Penitentiary. The facility admitted its first inmates in 1896 after ten years of construction. The goal of the institution was truly to “reform” and rehabilitate its inmates, who received three things during their time at OSR: religion, education, and a trade. Inmates were admitted for 18 months, and if they showed progress, they could be released after that time. If not, they received another 18 months. The model was successful and OSR had a high success rate and a low recidivism rate. By the early 1960s, however, the state pulled its financial support from the Reform model and began converting OSR into a maximum security facility, a purpose for which it was never intended. By the 1980s, the conditions had deteriorated to the point where the inmates sued the state of Ohio. The lawsuit was successful, and construction began on a new modern facility nearby. The Reformatory was finally closed in 1990. It sat empty for several years until local activists rallied to purchase the building from the state (for $1) and committed to repairing and restoring this historic structure. Stimson Hospital This structure was built in 1870 as a private home. Years later, it was acquired by a dentist, Dr. William Claudius Puffenberger. Sometime around 1917, Puffenberger sold the house to Harriet Chapman, who, along with co-owners Charles Stimson & Francis R. Blanchard (both doctors), turned it into a hospital in 1918. Only a few months after the hospital opened, Dr. Blanchard stepped

England has always been the home of legends and folklore. And while some of the creatures on our list may seem unbelievable, others are quite possible. As an island, England is the perfect location for some of these creatures to exist as they are separated from the rest of the world. It could be possible that these creatures are merely trapped on the island—hence the reason they never seem to leave. Jenny Greenteeth Jenny Greenteeth, or Wicked Jenny to some, is a legendary river-hag from English folklore. She is said to look like an ugly old woman with sharp teeth, long hair, and distinctly green skin. This strange cryptid is believed to lurk in the upper levels of trees stalking unsuspecting travelers. But aside from her gruesome appearance, Jenny Greenteeth is so terrifying because she is known to pull unaware children or the elders into the murky waters and drown them when given the chance. Be sure to keep an eye on your children if hiking through the United Kingdom. The Kelpie is a cryptid from rivers and lochs in Scotland and Ireland. In mythology, the kelpie is described as a strong and powerful horse. It is a white and sky blue colour and appeared as a lost pony, but could be identified by its constantly dripping mane. Its mane and tail are a bit curly. Its skin was said to be like that of a seal, smooth but as cold as death when touched. Kelpies were said to transform into beautiful women to lure men into their traps. They created illusions to keep themselves hidden, keeping only their eyes above water to scout the surface. The fable of the kelpie varies by region. The kelpie's mane is said to be a sky blue colour. The water horse is a common form of the kelpie, said to lure humans into the water to drown them. The water horse would encourage people to ride on its back, and once its victims fell into its trap, the water horse's skin would become adhesive and the horse would bear the victim into the river, dragging them to the bottom of the water and devouring them—exce

One of the chief proponents of the theory of a coven was the English Egyptologist Margaret Murray in her work The Witch Cult in Western Europe (1921). According to her a coven consists of 12 witches and a devil as leader. The number is generally taken as a parody of Christ and his 12 disciples. (An alternate theory, stressing the Murray view of a pre-Christian tradition of witches, explains 13 as the maximum number of dancers that can be accommodated in a nine-foot circle.) Each member of a coven is said to specialize in a particular branch of magic, such as bewitching agricultural produce, producing sickness or death in humans, storm raising, or seduction. The actuality of covens was also accepted by Montague Summers, a well-known Roman Catholic writer on witchcraft in the 1920s and 1930s, and more recently by Pennethorne Hughes in his Witchcraft (1952, 1965). Many students of witchcraft, however, dismiss the Murray theory of covens as unfounded and based on insufficient evidence. Nonetheless, 20th-century witchcraft groups continue to use the term coven, and reports of coven activity in the United States and Europe are not uncommon. What is ESP? Extrasensory perception (ESP) is an unproven paranormal phenomenon in which people allegedly receive information about, or exert control over, their environment in ways that don't use the five senses. Also known as "the sixth sense" or "psi," ESP refers to a wide range of purported abilities, including telepathy (mind reading), psychokinesis (moving objects without physical contact) and precognition (predicting the future). ESP violates our understanding of basic scientific principles. Still, estimates suggest that around two-thirds of people in the United States believe in its existe

Since the beginning of recorded time, man has claimed to be able to communicate with the spirit world. However, it would not be until the heyday of the Spiritualist movement that he would begin claiming to do so as an everyday occurrence. That particular movement was founded by two young girls, Kate and Maggie Fox, who established a way to communicate with a ghost. They used a series of knocks and raps that answered “yes” and “no” and eventually assigned a code for letters of the alphabet. In this way, they were able to spell out longer and more detailed messages. As Spiritualism grew in popularity, those with an interest began to establish what were called “home circles”, small groups of friends and family members who would gather around and attempt to communicate with spirits. They experimented with the knocking and rapping sounds and later with Table Tilting, which was accessible to everyone and no professional mediums were needed. The knockings and rappings of the early movement continued to spread in other directions as ordinary people began experimenting with their own skills as mediums. Soon, the tiresome and time-consuming method of knocking and tipping tables began to fall out of fashion and so mediums began a new form of contact called “automatic writing”. While practiced almost solely by spirit mediums, it still became very popular at séances as a direct line to the spirit world. The open circle When Vince, now 30, was a child, one of his friends goaded him into playing with a Ouija board in his basement. Young Vince didn’t expect anything out of the ordinary to happen, so he went along with it. Once they started to play, however, the lights began to flicker, the air around them grew cold, and a spirit began to communicate with them through the board. The spirit spelled out a Russian name and claimed he had been murdered. “We took a break to make some pizza rolls,” Vince says, “but we forgot to close t

The wormhole theory postulates that a theoretical passage through space-time could create shortcuts for long journeys across the universe. Wormholes are predicted by the theory of general relativity. But be wary: wormholes bring with them the dangers of sudden collapse, high radiation and dangerous contact with exotic matter. We asked physicist Robert Kehoe, some frequently asked questions about wormholes. Robert Kehoe Professor, Department of Physics, Southern Methodist University Robert Kehoe is a physicist currently studying the nature of the accelerating expansion of the universe. He is a lead researcher on the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESO), which is creating a far-reaching map of our universe. His research has also included work in particle physics, including contributing to the discovery of the Higgs boson, a previously only theoretical subatomic particle that allows for things to have mass. Are wormholes theoretically possible? A wormhole is thought to be essentially a tunnel from one place in space to another. When you have a massive object in spacetime, it basically creates a curvature of the spacetime in the nearby region. As you get more and more mass, we expect that that curvature becomes more and more extreme. We think such objects occur in the universe, and they are what we call a black hole, where light cannot escape due to this extreme curvature of spacetime. We think what happens is, at some point, if the mass of an object becomes large enough, the other forces of nature besides gravity can’t support the matter, and it becomes a black hole. You cou

In German folklore and ghostlore, a poltergeist 'rumbling ghost' or 'noisy spirit') is a type of ghost or spirit that is responsible for physical disturbances, such as loud noises and objects being moved or destroyed. The Enfield poltergeist was a claim of supernatural activity at 284 Green Street, a council house in Brimsdown, Enfield, London, England, between 1977 and 1979. The alleged poltergeist activity centred on sisters Janet, aged 11, and Margaret Hodgson, aged 13. Some members of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR), such as inventor Maurice Grosse and writer Guy Lyon Playfair, believed the haunting to be genuine, while others such as Anita Gregory and John Beloff were "unconvinced" and found evidence the girls had faked incidents for the benefit of journalists. Members of the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP), including stage magicians such as Milbourne Christopher and Joe Nickell, criticized paranormal investigators for being credulous whilst also identifying elements of the case as being indicative of a hoax. The story attracted press coverage in British newspapers, has been mentioned in books, featured in television and radio documentaries, and dramatised in the 2016 horror film The Conjuring 2. <p class="MsoNor

A shadow person (also known as a shadow figure or black mass) is the perception of shadow as a living species, humanoid figure, sometimes interpreted as the presence of a spirit or other entity by believers in the paranormal or supernatural. History and folklore A number of religions, legends, and belief systems describe supernatural entities such as shades of the underworld, and various shadowy creatures have long been a staple of folklore and ghost stories, such as the Islamic Jinn and the Choctaw Nalusa Chito. The Coast to Coast AM late night radio talk show helped popularize modern beliefs in shadow people. The first time the topic of shadow people was discussed at length on the show was April 12, 2001, when host Art Bell interviewed a man purporting to be a Native American elder, Thunder Strikes, who is also known as Harley "SwiftDeer" Reagan. During the show, listeners were encouraged to submit drawings of shadow people that they had seen and a large number of these drawings were immediately shared publicly on the website. In October that year, Heidi Hollis published her first book on the topic of shadow p

Déjà vu occurs when someone perceives they have already experienced a situation before, and their body experiences familiarity with the experience and confusion. This term was first used by Émile Boirac in the year 1876. Boirac was a French philosopher who wrote a book that included the sensation of déjà vu in his writings, titled "The Psychology of the Future" (LiveScience, Ede). Déjà vu has been presented as a reminiscence of memories, "These experiments have led scientists to suspect that déjà vu is a memory phenomenon. We encounter a situation that is similar to an actual memory but we can’t fully recall that memory". This evidence, found by Émile Boirac, helps the public understand what déjà vu can entail on the average brain. It was also stated, ". . . Our brain recognizes the similarities between our current experience and one in the past . . . left with a feeling of familiarity that we can’t quite place" (Scientific American, Stierwalt). Throughout history, there have been many theories on what causes déjà vu. This phenomenon has displayed its difficulty to be tested due to its random occurrence in people. Theories Parallel Universe This theory claims that déjà vu can be explained by the feeling of having lived a moment before as a “crossover” with a parallel universe. Meaning, that whatever you’re doing while experiencing the déjà vu, a parallel version of you is doing it in a different universe simultaneously — creating an alignment between the two universes! The Hologram This theory is the idea that our memories are formed like three-dimensional images. Which means that they have a structured frame network to them. This suggests that the entire formation of a memory can be reconstructed by one element. Therefore, if one stimulus in our environment reminds us of a previous moment we have experienced, o

Notes from Wikipedia A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby obscuring the view of the Sun from a small part of Earth, totally or partially. Such an alignment occurs approximately every six months, during the eclipse season in its new moon phase, when the Moon's orbital plane is closest to the plane of Earth's orbit. In a total eclipse, the disk of the Sun is fully obscured by the Moon. In partial and annular eclipses, only part of the Sun is obscured. Unlike a lunar eclipse, which may be viewed from anywhere on the night side of Earth, a solar eclipse can only be viewed from a relatively small area of the world. As such, although total solar eclipses occur somewhere on Earth every 18 months on average, they recur at any given place only once every 360 to 410 years. If the Moon were in a perfectly circular orbit and in the same orbital plane as Earth, there would be total solar eclipses once a month, at every new moon. Instead, because the Moon's orbit is tilted at about 5 degrees to Earth's orbit, its shadow usually misses Earth. Solar (and lunar) eclipses therefore happen only during eclipse seasons, resulting in at least two, and up to five, solar eclipses each year, no more than two of which can be total. Total eclipses are rarer because they require a more precise alignment between the centers of the Sun and Moon, and because the Moon's apparent size in the sky is sometimes too small to fully cover the Sun. An eclipse is a natural phenomenon. In some ancient and modern cultures, solar eclipses were attributed to supernatural causes or regarded as bad omens. Astronomers' predictions of eclipses began in China as early as the 4th century BC; eclipses hundreds of years into the future may now be predicted with high accuracy. The Sun's distance from Earth is about 400 times the Moon's distance, and the Sun's diameter is about 400 times the Moon's diameter. Because these ratios are approximately the same,

A year later, when Sam went about having a swimming pool put in his backyard, an elderly man showed up at his door to report that he was about to dig up human remains. The reason he knew they were there was because he had buried them years before when the land was still a cemetery. Proceeding to dig, it was not long before Sam came upon two skeletons just where the elderly man said they were. There were two pine boxes, each with the indentation of a skeletal form. Sam immediately called the Sheriff and county coroner who conducted an official exhumation. Most of the bones had turned to powder, but twenty-five fragments were found, some so brittle that they disintegrated when touched. Two wedding rings were discovered on the exposed skeletons' frail fingers. Sam and Judith tried to determine the skeletons' identity. They contacted long-time resident Jasper Norton, who told them that he had dug several graves in the area when he was a teenager. Their home and several others had been built on top of an African American cemetery called "Black Hope". The deceased were mainly former slaves. The last burial occurred there in 1939. Construction crews destroyed all traces of it during the building of the subdivision. Local research revealed the skeletons were of Charlie and Betty Thomas. They had been born into slavery and freed during the Civil War. They died during the 1930s. Plagued by guilt for digging up Charlie and Betty's graves, Sam and Judith decided to rebury them. Despite this, the dead would not rest. One night, Judith discovered her clock glowing and sparking. When she checked, it was unplugged. On another night, Sam was working the night shift, so Judith was alone. After taking a shower, she heard her sliding glass door open and close. Then she heard someone ask, "What are you doing?" She assumed it was Sam, but he was not there. <p class="MsoN

(notes from Wikipedia) The Book of the Dead (Ancient Egyptian: 𓂋𓏤𓈒𓈒𓈒𓏌𓏤𓉐𓂋𓏏𓂻𓅓𓉔𓂋𓅱𓇳𓏤, r(ꜣ)w n(y)w prt m hrw(w)) is an ancient Egyptian funerary text generally written on papyrus and used from the beginning of the New Kingdom (around 1550 BC) to around 50 BC. The original Egyptian name for the text, transliterated r(ꜣ)w n(y)w prt m hrw(w), is translated as Book of Coming Forth by Day or Book of Emerging Forth into the Light.[citation needed] "Book" is the closest term to describe the loose collection of texts[4] consisting of a number of magic spells intended to assist a dead person's journey through the Duat, or underworld, and into the afterlife and written by many priests over a period of about 1,000 years. In 1842, the Egyptologist Karl Richard Lepsius introduced for these texts the German name Todtenbuch (modern spelling Totenbuch), translated to English as 'Book of the Dead'. The Book of the Dead, which was placed in the coffin or burial chamber of the deceased, was part of a tradition of funerary texts which includes the earlier Pyramid Texts and Coffin Texts, which were painted onto objects, not written on papyrus. Some of the spells included in the book were drawn from these older works and date to the 3rd millennium BC. Other spells were composed later in Egyptian history, dating to the Third Intermediate Period (11th to 7th centuries BC). A number of the spells which make up the Book continued to be separately inscribed on tomb walls and sarcophagi, as the spells from which they originated always had been. There was no single or canonical Book of the Dead. The surviving papyri contain a varying selection of religious and magical texts and vary considerably in their illustration. Some people seem to have commissioned their own copies of the Book of the Dead, perhaps choosing the spells they thought most vital in their own progression to the afterlife. The Book of the Dead was most commonly written in hieroglyphic or hieratic script on a papyrus scroll, and often illustrated with vignettes depicting the

They do so by looking at the evidence. This often includes both eyewitness stories and fossils . They may also take part in archaeological digs and study the history of geology . Can you think of any examples of cryptids? We bet you can! Maybe you’ve heard stories of Bigfoot , also known as Sasquatch. With sightings across North America, this is one cryptid that’s difficult to ignore . Much of the evidence for the existence of Bigfoot has been deemed fake . On today’s episode I talk about a recent article from the Associated Press about a pentagon statement. Also, I cover the Missing 411 Phenomenon from David Paulides. The copy of the news Story AP: A Pentagon study released Friday that examined reported sightings of UFOs over nearly the last century found no evidence of aliens or extraterrestrial intelligence, a conclusion consistent with past U.S. government efforts to assess the accuracy of claims that have captivated public attention for decades. The study from the Defense Department’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office analyzed U.S. government investigations since 1945 of reported sightings of unidentified anomalous phenomena, more popularly known as UFOs. It found no evidence that any of them were signs of alien life, or that the U.S. government and private companies had reverse-engineered extraterrestrial technology and were hiding it. “All investigative efforts, at all levels of classification, concluded that most sightings were ordinary objects and phenomena and the result of misidentification,” said the report, which was mandated by Congress. Another volume of the report focused on more recent research will be out later. U.S. officials have endeavored to find answers to legions of reported UFO sightings over the years, but so far have not identified any actual evidence of extraterrestrial life. A 2021 government report that reviewed 144 sightings of aircraft or other devices apparently flying at mysterious speeds or trajectories found no extraterrestrial links, but drew few other conclusions and called for better data collection. The issue received fresh attention last summer when a retired Air Force intelligence officer testified to Congress that the U.S. was concealing a longstanding program that retrieves and reverse engineers unidentified flying objects. The Pentagon has denied his claims, and said in late 2022 that a new Pentagon office set up to track reports of unidentified flying objects — the same one that released Friday’s report — had received “several hundreds” of new reports, but had found no

Born and raised in CT, her focus has been in the rich history of strange and spooky occurrences in New England. Long before Europeans ever stepped foot in the New World, the legends of pukwudgies were already quite robust. Pukwudgies, also known as bagwajinini, were said to live in the wilderness throughout North America. Native Americans believed that pukwudgies were creatures that had once lived in harmony with humans but had turned against them. They featured in the folklore of diverse tribes, from the Wampanoag tribe of Massachusetts and Southern New England to the Algonquian tribe of the Great Lakes region. And according to various legends, it was best to leave the creatures alone. Pukwudgie translates to “person of the wilderness.” They were said to be small creatures, ranging from knee-height to about three feet tall, with human-like features, yet sporting larger ears, noses, and fingers. Their skin has been described as grey and smooth, and they have often been compared to trolls and goblins. The small creatures also have a variety of tricks up their sleeves to taunt or harm humans.

Most cities have main streets Like other cities Fort Wayne, has a main street. But unlike other cities, their main street is haunted. Main Street is said to be haunted by the ghost of a woman in white. She has a flowing white gown and appears to just walk down the street. That alone is enough to cause concern; however, the woman in white on Main Street continues walking until she reaches the St. Mary’s Bridge. Once there she horrifies witnesses who watch her climb over the bridge to jump into the water beneath the bridge. People have been so convinced the woman is real that they contact the police but nobody is ever found. The Embassy Theatre in Fort Wayne dates back to 1928 and is considered a landmark in the city. When open, the building has been home to plays and other entertainment productions. People have seen a grey apparition roaming the halls on numerous occasions. Some people believe a long-deceased director is an apparition. Along with that apparition some people see and hear what they can only assume is an older woman. Others have seen actors on stage and backstage. Other strange things in the theatre include odd smells, random cold spots, and lights spontaneously turning off and on. John H. Bass was an in

Does human teleportation really exist? Can we travel instantly to a different location? On today's episode, we will talk about that concept. A transporter is a fictional teleportation machine used in the Star Trek science fiction franchise. Transporters allow for teleportation by converting a person or object into an energy pattern (a process called "dematerialization"), then sending ("beaming") it to a target location or else returning it to the transporter, where it is reconverted into matter ("rematerialization"). Since its introduction in Star Trek: The Original Series in 1966, the name and similar concepts have made their way to other science fiction scenarios, Here are some of the events we talk about. Skier Disappears in New York, Shows Up in Sacramento Airport a Week Later in Same Clothes A 49-year-old skier “Danny” Filippidis from Toronto was out shredding Whiteface Mountain, near Wilmington, N.Y on February 7 when he vanished into thin air. He told a friend he was going for one more run on the mountain alone near the end of the day. He never returned. Search and Rescue, ski patrol, helicopters and up to 140 people, spent six days searching for “Danny” Filippidis in the Whiteface vicinity. The local hypothesis was that he’d hit a tree or fallen into a deep tree well and perhaps suffocated. But Filippidis was on a much stranger trip. Fast forward a week and Filippidis had located a cell phone at the Sacramento Airport where he finally called his wife, who told him to dial authorities immediately. Police found Filippidis wearing the exact clothing he was wearing when he disappeared on that pow day at Whiteface on the other side of the country, he was even wearing his helmet and goggles. ‘Danny’ appeared extremely confused to law enforcement, unable to tell them where he’d been other than recalling a “big rig-style truck,” and “sleeping a lot.” He had no idea what day it was, only remembering being dropped off, “near a McDonald’s.” He had a credit card and $1,000 in cash. “He was very nonchalant, and kind of out of it,” said Sgt. Shaun Hampton with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. “Our officers were adamant to take him to the hospi

Time travel, does it exist? Can we travel through time? Scientists say yes we can on a sub-atomic level. If you travel at light speed. Time travel and time slips are some of my favorite topics. This week I will tell you about a few stories I have come across. People Claimed to Be Real-Life Time Travelers 1) Charlotte Anne Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain In 1911, Charlotte Anne Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain, who met just prior to working together at the all-female St. Hugh’s College in Oxford and shared an interest in spiritualism, released a book that caused a sensation. An Adventure detailed an experience they’d shared while visiting the Palace of Versailles in 1901. While wandering the extensive gardens around the Petit Trianon, they suddenly began encountering people dressed in 18th-century outfits, including a women who strongly resembled Marie Antoinette. Had they encountered ghosts—or slipped back in time somehow? Though they went with the latter for their book, which purported to “prove” their experience by researching and corroborating what they’d seen with historical records, skeptics tended to believe a third option: That the authors of the book (written under pseudonyms; their true identities were revealed after their deaths) had made the whole thing up. Still, their reputations as respected academics did make other people wonder if maybe they had witnessed something way out of the ordinary. 2) John Titor This story has its origins with oddball late-night radio host Art Bell—which should be an immediate red flag—and expanded to include internet message boards circa the late 1990s and early 2000s. It was never clear if the man who made contact with Bell (via fax) was the same as the man who later took to the internet and built a cult following. You can read more about Titor’s story in the feature below, but the basics are: Titor first popped up in 1998, claiming he was from a parallel timeline where time travel was invented in 2034 by General Electric. In 2001, he explained his mission was to collect a vintage computer from 1975, needing it to debug computers back in 2036. His “predictions” about the future mostly failed to come tr

If this happens you should ask yourself, “Why is this person coming into my life at this time?” “What does this mean?” What if you think of something and you see an ad for it? We are all connected. Is there a cosmic connection that passes thoughts or feelings to each other? The dictionary defines Coincidences as, “the occurrence of events that happen at the same time by accident but seem to have some connection” But is there a such thing as Coincidences? Some paranormal researchers don’t believe there is. It is difficult to find a natural explanation too why a surprising coincidence occurs. In attempting to find one, we might be inclined to accept a paranormal explanation Most researchers believe that circumstances are predetermined and will happen regardless of our input. There is also a belief that a higher power is controlling the outcome and will make things seem to match up in history. Different circumstances can be attributed to your guardian angels. Is it a circumstance that you decided last minute to take a different route to work only to find out that there was an accident at a corner you would have gone through if you hadn't gone the other way? In West Virginian folklore, the Mothman is a humanoid creature reportedly seen in the Point Pleasant area from November 15, 1966, to December 15, 1967. The first newspaper report was published in the Point Pleasant Register, dated November 16, 1966, titled "Couples See Man-Sized Bird ... Creature ... Something". The national press soon picked up the reports and helped spread the story across the United States. The source of the legend is believed to have originated from sightings of out-of-migration sandhill cranes or herons. The creature was introduced to a wider audience by Gray Barker in 1970, and was later popularized by John Keel in his 1975 book The Mothman Prophecies, claiming that there were paranormal events related to the sightings, and a connection to the collapse of the Silver Bridge. The book was later adapted into a 2002 film, starring Richard Gere.[ History On November 15, 1966, two young couples from Point Pleasant—Roger and Linda Scarberry, and Steve and Mary Mallette—told police they had seen a large black creature whose eyes "glowed red", standing at the side of the road near "the TNT area", the site of a former World War II munitions plant. Linda Scarberry described it as a "slender, muscular man" about seven feet tall with white wings, and said that she was unable to discern its face due to the hypnotic effect of its eyes. Distressed, the witnesses drove away at high speed, and said that the creature flew after their car, making a screeching sound. It pursued them as far as Point Pleasant city limits. During the next few days, other people reported similar sightings, after local newspapers reported it. Two volunteer firemen who saw it said it was a "large bird with red eyes". Mason County Sheriff George Johnson commented that he believed the sightings were due to an unusually large heron he termed a "shitepoke". Contractor Newell Partridge told Johnson that when he aimed a flashlight at a creature in a nearby field, its eyes glowed "like bicycle reflectors". Additionally, he blamed buzzing noises from his television set and the disappearance of his German Shepherd dog on the creature. Wildlife biologis

Click here for a great book on The Loch Ness Monster. Loch Ness Monster The Loch Ness Monster (Scottish Gaelic: Uilebheist Loch Nis), affectionately known as Nessie, is a creature in Scottish folklore that is said to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. It is often described as large, long-necked, and with one or more humps protruding from the water. Popular interest and belief in the creature have varied since it was brought to worldwide attention in 1933. Evidence of its existence is anecdotal with a number of disputed photographs and sonar readings. The scientific community explains alleged sightings of the Loch Ness Monster as hoaxes, wishful thinking, and the misidentification of mundane objects. The pseudoscience and subculture of cryptozoology have placed particular emphasis on the creature. Origin of the name In August 1933, the Courier published the account of George Spicer's alleged sighting. Public interest skyrocketed, with countless letters being sent in detailing different sightings describing a "monster fish," "sea serpent," or "dragon," with the final name ultimately settling on "Loch Ness monster."Since the 1940s, the creature has been affectionately called Nessie (Scottish Gaelic: Niseag. Click here to go to Ken Bentley’s Facebook page What is a Medium? Whether one refers to him- or herself as a psychic medium, spiritual medium, intuitive medium or any other similar title, it's all essentially the same thing—the emphasis being on talking to spirits in the afterlife. While I refer to myself as a "psychic medium," there is a big difference between a psychic and a medium. A psychic isn't necessarily a medium, but a medium is a psychic. This is an important distinction and a good place to start, because I meet clients all the time who misunderstand the difference and confuse the two. Psychics tune into the energy of people or objects by feeling or sensing elements of their past, present and future. Simply put, psychics rely on their basic sense of intuition and psychic ability to gather information for the person being read. Mediums take it a step further. A medium uses his or her psychic or intuitive abilities to see the past, present and future events of a person by tuning into the spirit energy surrounding that person. This means mediums rely on the presence of non-physical energy outside of themselves for the information relevant to the person being read. Similarly, all medical students are required to take the basic entry-level medical courses, such as physics, biology and chemistry. Premed students are trained in the basics before moving on

The term “psychic” is often used as a catchall phrase for anyone who works in the paranormal. We know what our five senses are—sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell. But we have another sense that is equally as real as the other five. Often referred to as our sixth sense, psychic ability, or our intuition, this is the gut feeling or hunch you have that you cannot logically explain. Everyone is psychic to some degree or another, but not everyone is a medium. A medium is a psychic who has fine-tuned his or her extrasensory perception and can interface with the spirits in other dimensions. They are able to feel and/or hear thoughts, voices, or mental impressions from the spirit world. A medium is able to become completely receptive to the higher frequency or energies on which spirit people vibrate. Mediumship is much more involved than psychicism because a medium is opening him/herself to a discarnate energy. Mediumship itself can be broken down into two distinct categories. The first and most common type is mental mediumship, which is how I work with my abilities. I communicate with spirits while fully conscious. As the word mental denotes, this form of mediumship utilizes the mind—the intuitive mind, not the rational or logical part. This

Click here for the book The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Only $6 Other Legends The Headless Horseman The Headless Horseman is a mythical figure who has appeared in folklore around the world since the Middle Ages. The figure is traditionally depicted as a rider upon horseback who is missing his head. Description Depending on the legend, the Horseman is either carrying his head, or is missing his head altogether, and is searching for it. Examples include the dullahan from Ireland, who is a demonic fairy usually depicted riding a horse and carrying his head under his arm; the titular knight from the English tale Sir Gawain and the Green Knight; and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," a short story written in 1820 by American Washington Irving, which has been adapted into several other works of literature and film including the 1949 Disney animated film The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad and the 1999 Tim Burton film Sleepy Hollow. In Irish folklore The dullahan or dulachán ("dark man") is a headless, demonic fairy, usually riding a horse and carrying his head under his arm. He wields a whip made from a human corpse's spine. When the dullahan stops riding, a death occurs. The Callahan calls out a name, at which point the named person immediately dies. In another version, he is the headless driver of a black carriage, the Cóiste Bodhar. A similar figure, the gan ceann ("without a head"), can be frightened away by wearing a gold object or putting one in his path. In Scottish folklore The most prominent Scots tale of the headless horseman concerns a man named Ewen decapitated in a clan battle at Glen Cainnir on the Isle of Mull. The battle denied him any chance to be a chieftain, and both he and his horse are headless in accounts of his haunting of the area. Among the Highland Scottish diaspora in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, seeing the image or hearing the sound of a horse or headless rider is traditionally regarded as an

Blanchard stepped into an open elevator door and fell to his death down the shaft. This renovated hospital has sat on this property since the late 1800’s. There have been countless deaths natural and otherwise on the property and in the building. The building now occupies 4 apartments. Reports of loud noises stemming from the basement all times of the day and night. Voices, objects moving, and electrical appliances malfunctioning. Reports of children living in the apartments talking to “imaginary friends”. All described the same man and all getting at least his last name correct, although some children did mispronounce the name. A doctor reportedly lost his life after falling down the elevator shaft in the hospital THE G.A.R. MUSEUM The G.A.R. Hall was built approximately twenty years after the Civil War ended. Its pur

Guest: Floyd Wills, with a passion for the truth, Floyd has gratiously joined Jen and Joe on the 222 Paranormal Podcast to bring us the true tales of the legend ancient red-headed giants. His knowledge and insight on this topic leaves us with more questions than answers. Nevada's Paiutes spoke of a race of statuesque red-headed cannibals who attacked and ate members of the surrounding tribes. Eventually, the Paiutes destroyed them in Lovelock Cave. In 1911, miners discovered the remains of giant red-headed mummies and thousands of artifacts. The artifacts were excavated and disbursed to several museums, but the mummies disappeared from public view. What happened to the giant mummies, and why were they hidden from the public? Floyd Wills's investigation into Lovelock Cave's mystery reveals compelling evidence that the red-haired giants' Paiute tales were true. Mr. Wills supports his belief with newspaper articles, Native American accounts of giants, eyewitness testimony, photographs of skeletal remains, and artifacts found in and around Lovelock Cave. Other strange historical topics covered include: the Nazca Mummies, the Flores Hobbits of Indonesia, the Biblical Giants or The Nephilim, the Elongated Skull People of Paracas Peru, the Ica Stones, and the Acambaro Dinosaur Figurines. After approximately 40 years of being a hospital, there were naturally countless deaths. We return to Ste. Sault Marie to the Michigan Paracon 2023 and meet up with The Ghost Contact Paranormal Team. With great tales of their paranormal adventures, we are entertained by ghost stories. Sault Ste. Marie is the oldest city in Michigan, and among the oldest cities in the United States. Over the course of our history, the flags of several sovereign nations have flown over the Sault. Over 2,000 years ago, Native Americans began to gather here for the wealth of fish and fur found along the rushing waters of the wide, turbulent river that linked the Great Lakes of Superior and Huron. Spring and Fall were important seasons for these original settlers, and they called the area “Bahweting,” or, “The Gathering Place.” The area’s first full-time residents lived in lodges framed of wood poles, sheathed with bark or animal hides. The river below the rapids provided an abundance of fish for Native peoples, as well as several tribes from throughout the region, who migrated here during the peak fishing season . It continues to remain a world-class spot for sport fishing. In the 1600’s, French missionaries and fur traders began to venture into this beautiful territory. The traders began calling the wild area Sault du Gastogne. In 1668, the legendary Jesuit missionary and explorer Fr. Jacques Marquette renamed this burgeoning European settlement Sault Ste. Marie, in honor of the Virgin Mary—the first “city” in the Great Lakes region. Please hit Subscribe/Follow and leave a 5-star rating and review. Click here to Donate to the show. The Ghost Bride of Ravine Cemetery Ravine Cemetery is located just outside of downtown Sylvania, Ohio and it is here, in this quiet neighborhood cemetery, that stories of a phantom bride have captivated the imaginations of many for over 50 years. The story of the ghost bride entered northwest Ohio folklore in the 1970s when a cemetery caretaker shared his knowledge of the legend with a friend, who, in turn, shared it with a Toledo Blade newspaper reporter. The legend involves the spirit of a woman who returns to the cemetery to visit the graves of her former husbands, three of them. It is said she will appear at dawn on the anniversary of either their death or their marriage, no one is sure which. There are many, including me, who suspect this legend is based on an actual person but, so far, the identity of the ghost bride remains a mystery. City Tavern (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) A bride and her bridesmaids were preparing for the wedding when one bridesmaid accidentally knocked over a candle, setting the curtains on fire. The fire spread throughout the tavern, taking the lives of the bride and her bridesmaids. The ghost of the bride is active today, especially during wedding events at the tavern. Some wedding photographers have even reported seeing her apparition appearing next to the (living) bride when looking through the camera viewfinder. Although, no one has caught her on film. It is the first European settlement above tidewater in North America. Founded as a New France fur trading post, it began to expand during the 19th century with American settlements around the Great Lakes. By 1920, based on the booming auto industry and immigration, it became a world-class industrial powerhouse and the fourth-largest city in the United States. It held that standing through the mid-20th century. The first Europeans to settle in Detroit were French country traders and colonists from the New Orleans (the La Louisiane) colony. They were joined by traders from Montreal and Quebec; all had to contend with the powerful Five Nations of the League of the Iroquois (Haudenosaunee), who took control of the southern shores of Lakes Erie and Huron through the Beaver Wars of the 17th century. Also present and powerful, but further to the north, were the Council of Three Fires (Anishinaabe). Cryptozoologist Shetan Noir, author and owner/publisher of Squatch GQ Magazine stops by to give us some new updates on the lore and legends of The Great Lakes monsters. She researches strange and unusal reports and sightings in and around the Great Lakes Regions in North America, document many of these in her books. The Water Monster of Lake Erie Lake Erie is home to many different monster tales, all of which have been told by multiple people. One of the most famous water monster sightings has happened in Lake Erie in the south bay area. Bessie, who is also called South Bay Bessie because of the location of the sightings, has been seen multiple times since the 1800’s. It is said that she is covered in gray scales, has a large head, and is around 30 to 40 feet long. Once, in 1992, a supposed attack from Bessie left three people dead with one survivor. He had quite the story to tell, I’m sure. He has even mentioned that Bessie’s head was the size of an average car. Could you imagine seeing that up close and personal? The Kingstie Monster of Lake Ontario Lake Ontario spans between the United States and Canada, and this particular tale happened in Canada in 2004, though it dates back to the 1930’s. The Kingstie Monster was seen by two fishermen who were enjoying their day just off the coast of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. What they saw was a hoax created by some people in 1934 by using empty bottles for a flotation device and attaching a head that resembled a dragon. Why they did, it is hard to say, but the fishermen were given quite a scare and decided to name it “Kingstie” after their location. This story is a bit more relaxed than some of the others, but even the hoax put quite a scare into many people’s lives, especially if they aren’t expecting to see a “sea monster” under their boat while fishing. The Siren of Lake Erie Lake Erie, as I’ve mentioned before, is home to several monster stories. This one is particularly chilling since it revolved around a demonic siren. This legend centers around a siren called the Storm Hag. She lives at the bottom of Lake Erie, and she is often blamed for the disappearance of many ships in the area. She is said to have yellow eyes, green teeth and skin, and long, sharp, and poisono

Second week in Hell With Nadine..for the start of Season 8! Thanks to Black Swamp Paranormal's Nadine for sharing more creepy and spooky tales from their ghost outings! Michigan Dogman In folklore, the Michigan Dogman was allegedly witnessed in 1887 in Wexford County, Michigan, United States. The creature is described as a seven-foot tall, blue-eyed, or amber-eyed bipedal canine-like animal with the torso of a man and a fearsome howl that sounds like a human scream. According to legends, the Michigan Dogman appears in a ten-year cycle that falls on years ending in 7. Sightings have been reported in several locations throughout Michigan, primarily in the northwestern quadrant of the Lower Peninsula. In 1987, the legend of the Michigan Dogman gained popularity when disc jockey Steve Cook at WTCM-FM recorded a song about the creature and its reported sightings. History This creature was unknown to most of the modern world until very late in the twentieth century. It is said to have been stalking the area around the Manistee River since the days when the Odawa tribes lived there. Authentic sources for sightings made prior to 1987, however, have never been documented beyond Steve Cook's song, discussed below. The first alleged encounter of the Michigan Dogman occurred in 1887 in Wexford County, when two lumberjacks saw a creature that they described as having a man's body and a dog's head. In 1937 in Paris, Michigan, Robert Fortney was attacked by five wild dogs and said that one of the five walked on two legs. Reports of similar creatures also came from Allegan County in the 1950s, and in Manistee and Cross Village in 1967. Linda S. Godfrey, in her book The Beast of Bray Road, compares the Manistee sightings to a similar creature sighted in Wisconsin known as the Beast of Bray Road. The first half of a 2-week show. We love being able to catch up with previous guests. We talk all things paranormal. There are many reasons why people listen to paranormal podcasts. Some people listen because they believe in the paranormal and want to learn more about it. Others listen because they are curious about the paranormal and want to hear stories about it. Some people listen because they enjoy being scared or entertained by the stories. Paranormal podcasts cover topics related to the paranormal, such as UFOs, ghosts, Bigfoot, and the afterlife. Some podcasts feature interviews with experts, witnesses, or researchers in the paranormal field. Others present dramatizations, stories, or call-ins from people who have experienced the paranormal Located 20 miles northwest of Ann Arbor, Hell has heard all of the diabolical jokes. And they’ve made up a fair number of their own. The result makes for a fun road trip to a town chock-full of devilish puns, year-round Halloween décor and, truth be told, a lovely rural landscape. Surrounding Livingston County includes acres of idyllic hill country and sparkling inland lakes. All told, Hell offers a heavenly Pure Michigan getaway.

Why are they so popular with the spirits? And why does every haunted location have a doll in it? Listen in as we explore this phenmenon. Letta the Doll Letta the Doll also known as Letta Me Out is a doll moving alleged Kerry Walton moved from his home town in Wagga Wagga, Australia as a child. When he became an adult, he went back for his grandmother's funeral in 1972. It was here, during the 1970s, that a young man by the name of Kerry Walton decided to explore an abandoned house with his brother. The two men had always been inquisitive over the property, having heard countless stories of it being a haunted house as kids. Annabelle The story of Annabelle became infamous with the release of The Conjuring and Annabelle films. The real Annabelle is a Raggedy Ann doll that, while much less sinister in appearance, made quite a name for itself in the 1970s. Annabelle was given to a nursing student, Donna, by her mother. Donna, and her roommate Angie would often return home to discover that the doll had changed positions and or moved rooms. They’d also find handwritten notes scrawled onto parchment paper asking for help. In their book, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren indicate that the behavior went on for nearly a year before they became involved and ultimately took Annabelle into their care. In late 2020, rumors began to circulate that Annabelle had escaped the Warren’s Occult Museum, a panic that was eventually assuaged when the Warren’s son posted a picture of Annabelle safely in her case. Do a Google search for Wolfinger and you won't find much. Well, you will, but it's pretty much all the same information, word for word in most cases. The most haunted metro park in Ohio, and it has a cemetery in it. Ghost kids playing with visitors and do you know what a tree tombstone means? All in this week's episode. The legend of Wolfinger generally goes something like this, Inside Wolfinger Cemetery, the graves of two parents and their three children line the wooded edge. They all died within days of each other. Ghostly children have been seen playing around the graves, particularly one girl who is about ten or twelve years old. And, that's pretty much all there is to it. This location seems interesting enough to put it on my "Places To Visit This Summer," but a little too vague to discuss here in any great detail. In this episode, we talk about Oceanic Legends and monsters. Facing the open ocean can be terrifying. Miles from shore across storm-tossed seas, with nothing but water in all directions--including straight down--a sailor or fisherman cannot help but wonder what lurks in the depths. When the oceans were still unexplored, these fears often took the form of imaginary monsters. Many sea monsters include features from living animals. A large tentacle becomes part of a monstrous sea serpent or many-armed kraken: The eye sees a fragment; the mind fills in the rest. A blend of tall tales, mistaken identity, and resonant cultural symbols, stories of sea monsters often reveal more about the minds of the imaginers than they do about the natural world. According to sea monster myth and legends, the sea bishop or bishop-fish was caught and taken to the King of Poland, who showed it to a group of Catholic bishops. When the bishops released the creature, it made the sign of the cross before disappearing back under the waves. The bishop-fish is a type of fish that looks like a man—specifically, like a Catholic bishop—while other variations include legends of the sea monk, a fish that looks like a monk. Later experts came to the conclusion that the sea monk was probably actually an Angel shark, a type of shark that is also known as a monkfish. The bishop-fish made an appearance in the fourth volume of Conrad Gesner’s Historiae animalium, an “inventory of renaissance zoology,” as well as Johann Zahn’s Specula physico-mathematico-historic
