Arthur Ross
Arthur Ross recently played the role of Pumbaa in “Tale of the Lion King” at Disneyland Park in Anaheim. This was the Walt Disney Company’s FIRST EVER all black cast for a live show and Scott got to see him in it. In fact, the Themed Entertainment Association awarded “Tale of the Lion King” a Brass Ring Award for Best Theatrical Production. This award is considered one of the global attractions industry’s most prestigious honors. Arthur was also part of a vocal ensemble that performed during “The Festival of Holidays” for Kwanza and “Celebrate Soulfully” during Black History Month at Disneyland but he isn’t new to The Walt Disney Company. He started working for them in the summer of 2000, where he was part of the Disneyland College Program in Entertainment Costuming. When he graduated from the program, he remained a seasonal Cast Member, working on parades and shows and ultimately became a full-time Costume Specialist. On Broadway, Arthur worked on Anastasia, SpongeBob Squarepants: The Broadway Musical, and Disney’s Aladdin. In Agrabah, he was a Dresser and learned 11 of the 15 tracks dressing Principals and Ensemble Members. Arthur has a B.A. in Communications specializing in directing and choreography from Bowling Green State University and an M.F.A. in Acting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. That’s another thing that he and Scott have in common - Scott has a Musical Theatre degree from the UNLV and he and Arthur shared some of the same professors! Arthur is an Adjunct Faculty Member at both Cypress and Fullerton College in the Theatre and Dance Departments as a Dance Instructor, Musical Theatre Director & Choreographer and is a member of three renowned unions that represent artists - AGVA, Actors Equity Association, and I.A.T.S.E. Michael James Scott
Welcome to the Season 4 Premiere of The Mouse and Me! Scott rubbed the Genie's lamp and his wish came true! Michael James Scott has become a household name in the world of Broadway. He’s known for his incredible talent, energy, and versatility and is best recognized for his portrayal of the Genie in Disney’s Aladdin . Michael originated the role of the Genie in the Australian production , which opened in Sydney in August 2016. For that production, he received a Helpmann Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical. From there, he joined the North American Tour, then played the West End before hitting Broadway in 2019, where he’s still in the show! Fun fact - Michael holds the record for the longest running Genie! Over the years, Michael has showcased his impressive singing and acting skills in various shows on Broadway, including the original Broadway productions of The Book of Mormon as Dr. Gostwana and Something Rotten! as the Minstrel . Other Broadway credits include All Shook Up (where he made his Broadway debut), Mamma Mia as Eddie, Disney’s Tarzan, The Pirate Queen, and Hair both on Broadway and then the West End production the following year. He then returned to Broadway in the original cast of Elf. Michael’s numerous television and film appearances include "The Carrie Diaries" for the CW, the feature film “Independent Woman”, "The View", "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon", "The Late Show with Conan O'Brien", "Good Morning America", "The Today Show", "The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade", and "The TONY Awards". Christy Lewis - Part 1
Christy Lewis is a Disney princess in her own right and Scott has known her since she was in grade school. She’s now an adult who has a job and is married and expecting her first child because unlike Peter Pan, she grew up. Christy earned her bachelor's degree from the university of Delaware in Elementary and Special Education (with a minor in disability studies). She also has a master's in Exceptional Children and Youth with a concentration in autism and severe disabilities. She’s been working in community and regional theatres (including The Kennedy Center!) for about twenty years directing, stage managing, and performing in over 200 shows. And finally, Christy participated in the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World. She was an attractions Cast Member, and worked on the Mad Tea Party and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. During her time there, she posted weekly bullet point updates on social media and those posts provided so much laughter and entertainment for so many people. Meredith Patterson - Part 1
Today’s Guest is Meredith Patterson and she happens to be a very good friend of Scott's. They met another lifetime ago…waaaaaay back in December 1996 and got to perform together 8 shows a week on the US and Canadian tour of Singin’ in the Rain . When the record button for this interview was pressed and when Meredith and Scott popped up on each others screens, they were so happy to see each other, they wound up talking and reminiscing for a while before they even talked about Meredith's career and the Disney stuff. Since they talked for so long about so many things, and since people have asked what doesn’t make the Final Cut - what gets edited out of these interviews - what's going to happen is this - Part 1 is released today, Part 2 will come out next week, and the week after, a bonus episode of some of Meredith and Scott's personal conversation will come out, with Meredith's blessing. You’ll hear these two friends laugh, reminisce about their time together, etc. On Broadway, Meredith is known for her incredible skills as a dancer both in balletic grace and tap dancing, and the New York Times compared her to the legendary Ginger Rogers. How’s that for a compliment? She made her broadway debut in the Julie Taymor directed play The Green Bird . For those not familiar, Julie Taymor directed the Broadway musical, The Lion King . Meredith then lived the classic understudy's dream come true when she took over the starring role of Peggy Sawyer in the Tony Award Winning Revival of 42nd Street , where she made her Broadway musical debut. Meredith was also the first non-original principal to be recorded for posterity with the Lincoln Center Archives. When her Broadway contract was up, Meredith went on to star in the groundbreaking Moscow production of 42nd Street , where she was the first American actress to perform in an English-speaking production in Russia. Also on Broadway, she originated the role of Judy Haynes in Irving Berlin's White Christmas . Other theatre credits include A Christmas Carol at Madison Square Garden and The Boy Friend where she played the Julie Andrews role of Polly Browne under the direction of Julie Andrews. Her national tour credits include starring as Judy Haynes in White Christmas , Polly in Crazy For You , and Kathy Seldon in Singin' in the Rain . Her television career began with her hilarious role on Boston Legal in a 5 episode arch opposite Candace Bergen and Tom Selleck for Disney owned ABC. She also guest starred on Law & Order SVU opposite Marissa Hargitay, The Good Wife , and Made in Jersey . She played Francesca on All My Children and is featured as one of the last 3 girls for the role of Val in the critically acclaimed A Chorus Line d

Michael "Koz" Kosarin - Part 1
Michael "Koz" Kosarin is a 2-time Emmy Award winner and a three-time Grammy-nominated recording artist and producer for his work on Broadway in Disney’s Aladdin, Newsies, and The Little Mermaid. Koz has had a happy collaboration as music director and arranger for legendary composer Alan Menken for over thirty years, beginning with the Broadway adaptation of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in 1993, and it continues to this day in theater, film, television, and concerts. The Disney films you and your family will know his work from begins with Pocahontas , and proceed through Hercules , Enchanted and Disenchanted , Tangled , Home on the Range , Wreck-it Ralph II , and the live action films of Beauty and the Beast , Aladdin , and The Little Mermaid . Koz is currently at work with Mr. Menken on a new film called Spellbound , which is due out in theaters by the end of this year. He's also currently the music director of Aladdin on Broadway, which celebrated its tenth anniversary this past March. Prior to that, his shows with Alan Menken include Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Sister Act, Leap of Faith, The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He’s worked steadily on Broadway since 1982, beginning with the show Nine . Some other Broadway credits include Grand Hotel, The Secret Garden, and A Chorus Line . And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Koz also conducted and was the song arranger for Captain America: The First Avenger and arranged for and performed with the Boston Pops. He guest conducted the NY Pops, the NY Philharmonic, and Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and conducted Disney films live to picture in venues from The Hollywood Bowl to Tokyo’s Budokan. He’s worked with legendary artists such as Eddie Fisher, Carly Simon, Barbara Cook, Jane Krakowshi, Kerry Butler, and Lang Lang. Angie Schworer
Angie Schworer is a Broadway stage actress and dancer who got her start working at Walt Disney World, where she performed in 15 Years of Magic and the Diamond Horseshoe Revue, and she opened Disney MGM Studios! From there, Angie headed to New York where her Broadway career started in 1991 when she booked "The Will Rogers Follies." She went on to shows such as "Crazy For You," "Sunset Boulevard," "Annie Get Your Gun," "Young Frankenstein," "Catch Me If You Can" (where she was an Astaire Award nominee), "Big Fish," "Something Rotten!," and most recently played Minnie in "Some Like It Hot." Despite these amazing credits, Angie's probably best known for 2 shows. The first was "The Producers" in 2001. She was in the original Broadway cast an ensemble member and was the Ulla understudy. She also did the national tour for a year, and then returned to Broadway in 2003 and served as the permanent Ulla replacement until the show closed in 2007, making her the longest-running Ulla. She was also in the 2005 movie starring Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, and Will Ferrell. The other show she’s best known for is "The Prom," where she starred as Angie Dickinson. She was nominated for the 2019 Chita Rivera Award for Outstanding Female Dancer in a Broadway Show for her performance. Enjoy listening to incredible Angie Schworer! If you’ve seen a Broadway show at any point in the last 30 or so years, chances are you’ve seen Victor Amerling's work. He’s worked on shows including the original productions of "A Chorus Line," "Sweeney Todd," "My One and Only," "Les Miserables," "Annie," "Smokey Joe’s Cafe," "Big River," "Biloxi Blues," "Song and Dance," "Nine," "Miss Saigon," and "The Phantom of the Opera." He also toured with "Annie," "My One and Only," and "Carousel." For Disney Theatricals, Victor was the production prop supervisor for "Mary Poppins" and is the current production prop supervisor for "The Lion King." He was also in the 2005 movie "The Producers" starring Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane, "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete" with Jennifer Hudson, and "The Prom." His tour credits include "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" with Donny Osmond, "Cinderella" with Eartha Kitt, "The Producers" with Martin Short and Jason Alexander, "Billy Elliot," and "The Prom." On Broadway, Patrick made his debut in "Ain't Broadway Grand" and appeared in the revival of "Annie Get Your Gun" with Bernadette Peters, "Thou Shalt Not," "The Producers," "The Drowsy Chaperone," "Spamalot," and "All About Me" with Dame Edna. Also on Broadway he was the Associate Director for "Tuck Everlasting," he stage managed "Something Rotten" and Disney's "Frozen," and he continues to sub as a resident director for "Aladdin" and stage manages the national tour of "Mrs. Doubtfire." Magical Moments - Kachow!
Buckle up and get ready for this Magical Moments all about Cars Land at The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim! On October 17, 2007, Disney announced a 5-year, $1.1 billion dollar renovation and expansion plan for Disney California Adventure. This included a major overhaul of several existing areas of the park and the addition of Cars Land, which was the first land in a Disney Park that’s immersively themed entirely after a single intellectual property. On 12 acres, Disney built an exact replica of Radiator Springs, which is the fictional town in which most of the film’s events take place. Cars Land opened on June 15, 2012 and when you’re there, you honest and truly feel like you’re in the actual movie. Do you remember the flashing traffic light where every third blink is slower? Well guess what? There’s a flashing traffic light…and the third blink is slower! Disneyland with Mom and Dad - Part 1
A conversation between Scott and his Mom... Mom - “Dad and I are sitting here talking and we think we’re ready to travel again and we want to know if you’d help us plan the trip because you’re really good at that stuff.” Scott - “That’s great! Where do you want to go?” Mom - “Dad said he wants to go to Disneyland.” Scott was surprised because Dad isn’t a let’s go the Disney Parks type of guy. He doesn’t dislike it or anything….it’s just not what Scott expected to hear. Scott - “Disneyland?” And then joked, “When are we going?” Mom - “Oh, will you go with us? Please go with us.” Scott - “Mom, I was just kidding. I’m not crashing your vacation.” Mom - “Please go with us. You know your way around Disney. You’ll be able to help us. We love you and we don’t get to see you that much. Please go with us.” So back in April of 2015, Scott, his wife, and the kids did a California trip with some friends. They started in San Diego and then made their way up to San Francisco, making stops in Anaheim and Monterey. Scott's parents came in from Las Vegas and joined them in San Diego and at Disneyland but that was a while ago…so when his Mom asked him to join them on this trip, these thoughts raced through his mind: Mom recently turned 75, Dad just turned 82, things aren’t getting easier for them, and time keeps on moving despite Scott's best efforts to stop it. His parents live out west and Scott lives on the east coast. The three of them get along and they love spending time together. Scott also thought that Mom and Dad walking and navigating the parks would be a challenge...and he didn’t know if or when he'd have this chance again. And that’s how this trip came about. Lisa Leonard - Part 1
Lisa Leonard is a Swiss Army Knife in the entertainment industry. She’s a performer, dance teacher, Casting Assistant, Casting Director, Stage Manager, Show Director, Choreographer, and is currently an Event and Promotions Manager for The Walt Disney Company where she leads the Disney Character Events team in New York City. Lisa started out singing, dancing, and acting at Walt Disney World where she was a World Dancer in Epcot and was a Kid of the Kingdom. She also worked at Tokyo Disneyland where she performed in Swing & Sing, Diamond Horseshoe, and the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. As a Casting Director and Events Manager for Disney, some of the things Lisa worked on was the “Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the Black Pearl” movie release, the Tarzan and Hercules premieres in NYC, The Little Mermaid video release party at Madison Square Garden, the Pocahontas movie premiere in Central Park, and promotional events for Frozen II. Jen Cody
Jen Cody is probably best known as the voice of Charlotte La Bouff in Disney’s The Princess and The Frog. This performance won Jen the Annie Award, which is Excellence in Animation for Outstanding Performance by a Voice Actor in a Feature Film. Charlotte’s voice can be heard in the film, in animated comics, and at Disney on Ice. Jen has toured the country in Gypsy, Cats, Grease and Hello Dolly!, where she won the Kevin Kline Award for Best Supporting Actress. She’s also been performing on Broadway for the past 25 years where she originated roles in many shows including Seussical the Musical, Urinetown, Shrek the Musical, The Pajama Game revival starring Harry Connick Jr, and Henry and Mudge in which she received a Drama League nomination. Also on Broadway, Jen was Rumpleteazer in Cats, Cha Cha in Grease, and was a Silly Girl in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! Jen's voice can be heard on many cast recordings and commercials and as many animated characters including Darcy in Nickelodeon’s The Winx Club, Maggie in Disney’s Mickey Mouse Mixed-up Adventures, and multiple voices on Phineus and Ferb. Jess LeProtto - Part 1
Jess LeProtto's incredible voice, energy, razor sharp dance technique, and jaw-dropping jumps and turns have earned him a place in the Great White Way spotlight. He started singing and dancing at age 5, and performed in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in Nashville as a kid. He went on to get his BFA in Musical Theatre from Pace University and shuffle ball changed his way into the company of The Boy From Oz, where he made his Broadway debut in 2003 followed by Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and Bye Bye Birdie. He played the role of Buttons in the original Broadway cast of Disney’s Newsies, and it was that show that truly solidified his Broadway veteran status. Fun fact - Jess is the logo for the US national tour of Newsies. If you do a search for "Newsies US tour poster," you’ll see him! Other Broadway credits include On the Town, the revival of CATS where he played Mungojerrie, Hello, Dolly!, Carousel, and is currently in A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical, where he performs 8 shows a week and also serves as the dance captain. You can also see Jess's work on film and television where he recently played A-Rab in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” for 20th Century Fox, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Studios. Russell Fox has over four decades of performing, managing, and directing experience in book musicals, reviews, and theme park shows. He’s worked in theme parks as a performer, entertainment manager, and show director. He performed at three of the Six Flags parks, four Disney parks and two Sea World parks. For Gatorland in Orlando and Sea World of TX, he was a performer, entertainment manager, and show director. At Walt Disney World, Russell sang with Voices of Liberty, acted the roles of Jim in The Hoop Dee Doo Revue and the Assistant Director in Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, and originated the role of Clopin in The Hunchback of Notre Dame - A Musical Adventure. Now he’s serving as an Entertainment Manager, where he works with technicians, character performers, musicians, contracted acts and Equity performers. He’s worked with these artists at Disney Springs and in the theme parks and resorts. He has Stage Managed shows like the Spirit of Aloha, Princess Tea, and The Hoop Dee Doo Revue and also had the pleasure of working with the Disney characters at many character dining locations across property! Jason Mangano - Part 1
Jason Mangano was born in northern New Jersey, was raised in southern New Jersey, attended Triton high school…in New Jersey...and when the time came for him to finally get OUT of New Jersey, the place where he went was Walt Disney World in Orlando…otherwise known as south southern New Jersey! ;) Some of Jason's performing theatrical credits include Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, A Christmas Story The Musical, Crazy for You, Little Shop of Horrors, and Peter and the Star Catcher. As a director and choreographer, he worked on productions of Disney’s Newsies, All Shook Up, To Kill A Mockingbird, Ragtime, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Jason started his Disney career as a skipper on Jungle Cruise, worked on Pirates of the Caribbean, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, and worked Star Wars weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. He currently works as a VIP tour guide at Universal Orlando Resort. Some personal history - Scott's wife introduced these two friends many years ago and they actually randomly bumped into Jason several times at a WDW theme park on a few trips. Joy Andersen danced as a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and was a performance coach for the Broadway production of Billy Elliot. Other shows include Three Musketeers, 2 different productions of The Tempest, and 2 productions of A Christmas Carol. Joy has over thirty years of performance experience as a dancer, singer, actor, improvisor, and interactive comedy voice over puppeteer at Walt Disney World. We want to start by telling you three unique fun facts about today’s guest. #1 - he’s the seventh child of a seventh child #2 - he is the approved stunt double for Ronald McDonald and has been a stunt man in several movies and TV shows #3 - he was a “Dance Fever” champion! That’s right...DANCE FEVER! Look it up! :) At an early age, Kevin Brassard set his eyes on the entertainment world. He started with a solid base at the Old Globe Theatre and also attended the International University for the Performing Arts. Kevin landed a job with Sea World as a Principal Singer and from there auditioned for Walt Disney World where he’s been performing for 36 years. He first performed at the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue and then in “Tarzan Rocks”, “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”, “The Diamond Horseshoe”, “Ace Ventura Pet Detective”, “Doug Live” and was the very first Indiana Jones in the “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular” for George Lucas and after 34 years, he’s STILL performing in the show! Robert Creighton - Part 1
Robert Creighton co-authored and starred in the hit off-Broadway musical "Cagney," which is soon headed toward a Broadway production. For that role, he won the Fred Astaire Award for Outstanding Male Dancer and was nominated for the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards as best Lead Actor in a Musical. He played the role of Angelo in "Comedy of Errors" for the Public Theatre’s Shakespeare in the Park, had starring roles in New York City Center’s ENCORE SERIES productions of "Damn Yankees," "Little Me," and "Paint Your Wagon," and was in the original North American tour of "Fame." On Broadway, some of Robert's credits include playing the roles of Durdles in "The Mystery of Edwin Drood," Moonface in "Anything Goes," and Amos in "Chicago." He was also in "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" and "Jackie Mason's Laughing Room Only." On television, he was a recurring guest star on the CBS series "The Good Fight" as Clarence Kolb and guest-starred on "Elementary," "Law & Order," "The Family," and "Life on Mars." And now...his Disney credits! Robert recently revisited the role of Timon in Disney’s "The Lion King" on Broadway after playing the role in NY in 2010, in the LA company in 2002 and 2003, and in Toronto in 2000. Also on Broadway, he played the role of Chef Louis in "The Little Mermaid," and was in the workshop, the out of town tryouts in Denver, and then the full Broadway run of "Frozen," where he originated the role of the Duke of Weselton - or is it Weaselton? Other Disney projects include VoiceOver work, where Robert sang as a thug in the song “I Got A Dream” in the movie, "Tangled." He also sang on two "Frozen" shorts and was part of the live action "Beauty and the Beast." Robert performed at the International Festival of the Arts at EPCOT with fellow Disney royalty Heidi Blickenstaff and Patti Murin. He was also part of multiple developmental workshops including "Aladdin" where he was the Genie, he did 2 workshops of "Newsies," and was in the development cast for "Tangled" for Disney Cruise Line...and speaking of Disney Cruise Line, he performed on 7 Disney Cruises, headlining in the Walt Disney Theatre! Jim Landis - Part 1
This week, Scott welcomes the amazingly talented Jim Landis to the show! These two friends have a great chat about how Jim got started with The Walt Disney Company, the different performing jobs he had in Disneyland Park and on tour, and his transition to Los Angeles where he became a Prop Master for television and movies where he worked for Melissa McCarthy and on the Will & Grace reboot juuuuust to name a few. Jim also talks about the highlight of his career as a Prop Master, his thoughts on bringing the Hat Box Ghost to the Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom, and so much more! Jim Landis fell in love with theatre at an early age when he performed in his first production, Cyrano de Bergerac, in high school. From there, it was off to the races! He would go on to spend almost 11 years working at Disneyland as a performer, doing everything from cowboy stunt shows to national publicity tours and during that time, he would also perform in multiple Summer Stock and regional productions. He eventually moved to Los Angeles and pursued a career in television and film production as a Prop Master. While working in this field, he still made time to write plays and keep theater on the back burner. For several years, he worked with a resident theater company at The LaMirada Performing Arts Center, where he co-wrote four original musicals for younger audiences as well his own production of ‘Buffalo Betty’s Wild West Revue’ with Disney composer Michael Tavera. Over the years, my guest received recognition for his writing, garnering awards from Drama-Logue as well as The Eugene O’Neil Playwriting Festival in New York City. He is currently the owner of GRANDIS CREATIONS LLC. - a company that creates specialty props for television, screen, and stage for such clients as NBC, ABC, CBS, HBO, NETFLIX, PARAMOUNT + and DISNEY IMAGINEERING. Fantastical Flashback - Sam Bird - Part 1
Hello and welcome to the first Fantastical Flashback episode of The Mouse and Me! Now there are THREE types of episodes - Interviews, Magical Moments, and Fantastical Flashback. Fantastical Flashback episodes will do three things: (1) It’ll give consistent listeners a nice throwback and a reminder of some of the amazing things the guest and Scott talked about; (2) It’ll give new listeners the opportunity to discover these interviews if they don’t listen from the very beginning; (3) It allows Scott to take a break and recharge his batteries! Who knows? It could be an extra busy holiday season. Scott might be in a Disney park. He might be busy editing episodes...or he might just need a breather. :) For this first Fantastical Flashback, Scott chose to replay his interview with his pal, Sam Bird. When Scott originally interviewed Sam, it was a 2 part interview because they simply had a lot to talk about so Scott wanted to honor that conversation by replaying part 1 this week and part 2 next week. When Scott first interviewed Sam last year, Sam was no longer with the Walt Disney company…but he is again! He started back with them this past April and, in total, Sam has been with them now for 20 years! His current position is a stage technician. He did the install of the new "Rogers the Musical" at the Hyperion Theatre in Disney’s California Adventure. He’s involved in automation with that production, which means he maintains and operates the show and makes sure that everything works properly. Since their interview, Sam and Scott have become good friends and continue to text, call, and FaceTime each other fairly often. As a matter of fact, when Scott was in Disneyland this past February, he and Sam spent a magical day together in both Disneyland Park and Disney's California Adventure AND two other former podcast guests, Kate Harrow and Savannah Harrow, joined them, as they all know each other. Kate and Savy SHOULD know each other…they’re sisters...but you get the gist! In today's episode, Sam talks about the different roles he’s had at The Walt Disney Company including stories from his time in the Art Department. He also talks about repelling down from the ceiling in it’s a small world, working on the holiday overlay for Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion, working on Frozen at the Hyperion, and being a test rider on the Tower of Terror. Bianca Heard - Part 1
Bianca Heard started at the Walt Disney Company as a character performer and equity dancer in 2016. She opened Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire as Princess Tiana and Discovery Island Carnivale at Animal Kingdom. She went on to perform in Festival of Fantasy as Tiana, danced in a Super Bowl Parade down Main Street, and at Princess Elena’s Coronation. Bill Disbennett - Part 1
In show business, a gypsy is a term of endearment and respect. A gypsy is a member of the chorus…the ensemble…the singers and dancers who travel from show to show and Bill Disbennett was a true gypsy. Bill has danced all around the world, starting at Six Flags St. Louis and then Opryland USA for 3 years. From there, he danced for Disney in a travel trade show to promote Disney’s MGM Studios, performing in 30 cities to get the word out to travel agents about the new theme park. Bill was then hired as a Kid of the Kingdom, where he danced in all of the Castle shows in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World for 5 years. From there, he moved half-way around the world and danced at Tokyo Disneyland for 4 years before coming back to the US to dance in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in New York City. He then moved from land to sea, where he danced for Disney Cruise Line aboard both the Disney Magic and Wonder and then went back to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. When Bill retired from performing, he went to Meredith Manor International Equestrian Center, taught there for a year, and moved back to Orlando where he had an equestrian business for 13 years. Linda Griffin
Linda Griffin is a tour guide at The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California, and that's where she and Scott met this past February. In talking with her, not only did Scott realize that they had several friends in common, he learned that Linda was in the full run of the LA company of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and did two national tours of that show along with her husband (who was a musician in the pit) and her son (who played Chip!) Scott also learned that Linda was in the original Broadway cast of one of his all-time favorite shows, Something Rotten, and was part of the Broadway company of The Drowsy Chaperone and the Encores! cast of Anyone Can Whistle starring Donna Murphy and Sutton Foster. Linda also toured the country in The Drowsy Chaperone, A Chorus Line, 42nd Street, and Wicked. Some of her television credits include General Hospital and the 2006 and 2016 Tony Awards. She was in the movie, The Prom, and her Disney movies include Shaggy Dog and Home on the Range. She’s done other work for Disney and they get into that as well! In just one week, three of Scott's friends mentioned that they’re not going to Disney because it’s too expensive or that they’re waiting to go until they’re able to save up enough money…and THAT'S what inspired this episode. Karen Shriner earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from Millikin University and has 20 years of experience in a variety of roles with the Walt Disney Company. She traveled the world for Disney Cruise Line, where she played multiple roles in the Award-Winning Broadway style shows aboard the Disney Wonder and the Disney Magic. She also served on the leadership team, where she was responsible for maintaining the musical integrity of all the shows and training the cast on new music for additional shows added on board. Karen has worked in entertainment at Walt Disney World in the iconic Hoop Dee Doo Revue and, for the past twelve years, as a member of the world-renowned a cappella group, Voices of Liberty. Danny Slowik - Part 1
Danny Slowik began his Disney career at the Disney Store and he quickly transitioned to Disney-MGM Studios as a tour guide, gangster, and bandit on The Great Movie Ride. Also at Walt Disney World, Danny worked in Magic Kingdom at Splash Mountain and as a skipper at Jungle Cruise and went on to work for Walt Disney Attractions in marketing and as an assistant producer for Disney Consumer Products for Latin America. Danny is also a pilot (he flies Embrarer 145 jets for United Express), divemaster, teacher, and an actor with extensive experience in voiceovers, character development, theatre, and film analysis. He studied Shakespeare at London’s Globe, taught English in Beijing, taught theatre in the Broward County Public Schools for 25 years where he also served as the Fine Arts Department Chair, and at the district level, served on the Holocaust Education Committee. Danny and Scott are old pals. They met during Scott's junior year, Danny's senior year in high school. Their theatre department, under the direction of Ira Kinder, did 7 shows each year - a musical, a dinner theatre production, a musical revue, a one-act play, 2 straight plays, and a summer show. While Scott was on the stage in these productions, Danny worked behind the scenes, doing sound and lighting design and also served as the light operator and stage manager for the shows at the school. Writer, author, and Walt Disney World alumni of 20 years, Michael Lyons, stops by The Mouse and Me this week to talk about his amazing career and time spent at The Most Magical Place on Earth. Michael is a freelance writer specializing in film, television, and pop culture. He’s contributed over 500 articles to such websites as AnimationWorldNetwork.com and fandom.com and the publications Cinefantastique, ReMIND, and Disney Magazine. He’s the author of the book, Drawn to Greatness: Disney’s Animation Renaissance, which chronicles the unprecedented growth at the Walt Disney Studio during the 1990s, resulting in such classic films as The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Toy Story. Michael also interviewed many artists, directors, and producers in the entertainment industry and these interviews are featured in several volumes of the book series Walt’s People: Talking Disney With the Artists Who Knew Him. From 2000-2020, Michael worked full-time at The Walt Disney World Resort where he held several leadership positions in operations and training and development. Disney legend / musician / singer / artist / composer / arranger / amazing human being, Carol Stein, joins Scott this week for an incredible chat about her musical training, her travels around the world as a musician, her 30+ years at Walt Disney World and so much more! Carol Stein was born in Miami, Florida where she began her classical piano studies at the age of four. As a composer, arranger, and musician, she’s traveled the world where she performed all over Europe, Asia, and the United States in such places as the Montreux Palace in Switzerland, The Bayerischerhof in Munich, The Oasis Lounge in Hong Kong, and Carnegie Hall in New York City. Nick LaMedica
Nick LaMedica takes a quick break from the pride lands and joins Scott for an enlightening chat about what life is like playing Zazu in "The Lion King." They also talk about Nick's career and his work as an actor and puppeteer for Broadway tours including "War Horse." At the end of the interview, Scott shares fun facts about 'The Lion King," which were provided by Disney Theatrical Productions. Nick received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from Marymount Manhattan College and did not let the grass grow under his feet. He’s since performed in over 75 cities throughout the United States, in Canada, and his work has taken him to Tokyo. As an on-camera actor, he can be seen in commercials for HASBRO and Microsoft, on Discovery ID, and Chicago Fire. For 2 years, he performed with the First National Broadway Tour of "War Horse," where he was hand-trained by the founders of Handspring Puppet Company of South Africa. He’s also worked as an actor and puppeteer in New York City and various regional theaters throughout the United States including Denver Center, Syracuse Stage, and the American Globe Theatre. This past October, he made his Disney stage debut in the national tour of "The Lion King" where he’s playing the role of Zazu. Cullen Douglas - Part 1
Cullen Douglas works on the stage, in front of the camera in both television and film, and behind the scenes as a show runner, writer, and director. He co-founded the film production company, 12th Angel Productions, to make films that examine the human condition in thought-provoking and inspiring ways. The first project he wrote and directed through his company was the short film, Fading Scars, set against 9/11. The second project was Portrait of a Woman at Dawn, a #MeToo-inspired story set in 1920’s Paris. The latter screened at over 50 international festivals and took top prizes in all categories, including Best Short Film and Best Director. Most recently, through 12th Angel Productions, he made his feature film directorial debut with “Billy Flanigan: The Happiest Man on Earth,” which came out this past October…and if you haven’t seen it, you should. It’s moving. It’s inspiring. It’s perfection. Cullen is also recognized as an actor, having recurred on shows including CBS's Pure Genius, ABC's Scandal, and HBO’s Barry. Jared Bradshaw - Part 1
Jared Bradshaw is best known for his 8 year run in the Broadway cast of “Jersey Boys” where he played 10 of the 11 roles in the show. He also originated the role of Jerry Jubilee and performed the role of Willy Wonka in the original Broadway cast of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Off-Broadway, he starred in the hit “Forbidden Broadway” for 3 years, is on the cast album, and got to perform AS the stars FOR the stars themselves including Stephen Sondheim, Jonathan Groff, and David Hyde Pierce. Jared currently appears on "The Broadway Bradshaws" - his YouTube show with his wife, Lindsay (from Broadway’s Wicked), and their daughter. He and Lindsay are also currently appearing as Bruce and Peach respectively in Walt Disney World’s “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue and Beyond” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But that’s not where his Disney career started. Jared first worked for Disney Cruise Line as a Mainstage performer on The Disney Wonder, starring in Hercules the Musical, Voyage of the Ghost Ship, Disney Dreams, and was the host of the game show “Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer?” Jared's a huge Broadway fan, a huge DISNEY fan, and is an all-around great guy! Diana Kavilis Morris
Diana Kavilis Morris grew up in southern California with dreams of being a ballerina until she did her first musical in high school. She subsequently went on to have an amazing career in musical theatre. Some of Diana's credits include A Chorus Line on Broadway where she played the role of Val and a European tour of A Chorus Line where she played Cassie. She also toured the US as Demeter and Grizabella in Cats, Claire in Jerome Robbins’ Broadway, Eva in Evita, Ellen in Miss Saigon, and was in the LA Company of Sunset Boulevard, where she can be heard on the original cast album. Diana also performed in My Fair Lady, Mame, The Sound of Music, and Camelot…all at the Hollywood Bowl. She taught musical theatre master classes for the BFA program at CSUF (CA State Univ Fullerton), guest directed for the Young Americans, has sung on many studio recordings, and is finishing up earning her Stage Management Certificate from Fullerton College.
