Steve Lazarus is a multifaceted individual whose life journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. A retired FBI Special Agent and United States Air Force veteran, Steve has left an indelible mark on both national security and literature.During the first half of his illustrious FBI career, Steve was stationed in the heart of the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area, where he fearlessly confronted domestic terrorists, narcotics trafficking organizations, and violent street gangs. It was amidst these trials that he encountered a case that would serve as the catalyst for his debut novel, "Call Me Sonny." In 1998, facing a grave threat to public safety, Steve apprehended a violent felon who intended to unleash a homemade biological weapon of mass destruction upon the Atlanta subway system. Despite the perilous nature of the situation, Steve successfully brought the perpetrator to justice, ensuring that the city remained safe. However, the danger did not end there, as the convicted felon, in a chilling twist, threatened retaliation against Steve and his loved ones before being incarcerated. "Call Me Sonny" delves into the gripping narrative of what might happen if these threats were to materialize from behind prison walls, weaving a tale of suspense and intrigue.Transitioning to the latter half of his FBI tenure, Steve immersed himself in the intricate world of explosives as a seasoned bomb technician. His expertise led him on numerous deployments to conflict zones such as Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait, where he meticulously investigated terrorist bombings as part of the Global War on Terror. In 2013, Steve played a pivotal role in the aftermath of the tragic Boston Marathon bombing, leading a team of dedicated specialists in the arduous task of evidence recovery and bomb analysis. His unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security culminated in his tenure with the Bureau's prestigious Render Safe Unit in Quantico, Virginia. Here, Steve and his elite team of hazardous device specialists undertook one of the FBI's most perilous missions: the disassembly of improvised nuclear weapons.Following his distinguished career with the FBI, Steve embarked on a new chapter, lending his expertise to the Emirati national security service in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. There, he shared his wealth of knowledge with aspiring security professionals, leaving an indelible impact on the next generation of defenders. We also touched on the political dynamics in the U.S. affecting aid decisions and how internal politics might be influencing global strategies. We then shifted our focus to the Middle East, discussing the potential for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, U.S. military action in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen, and the implications of Saudi Arabia's hesitance to join BRICS+. We also covered China's explicit support for Russia amidst the Ukraine crisis, which is not surprising but still significant in the current geopolitical climate. An interesting development came from India, where a new poll suggests that the youth are leaning pro-American, which could have future implications for India's foreign policy and its role in global geopolitics.Lastly, we covered the sentencing of former CIA engineer Joshua Schult, who was convicted for the Vault 7 leak and possession of child sexual abuse images. We discussed the fine line between whistleblowing and leaking, and the severe consequences of his actions on national security.----------------------Get your discount on a brand new BlendJet2 by going to our link: https://zen.ai/analytics12subscribe and follow us: https://linktr.ee/AucoinAnalytics---------------------Disclaimer:The views and opinions expressed on the podcast 'This Week Explained' are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of any organization or entity. In this episode, I had the privilege of interviewing Sam Peterson, a former Army EOD technician and the director of Patriot Power Up, a program dedicated to providing innovative and effective treatment for veterans suffering from mental health issues, particularly traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).Sam shared his personal journey of struggling with mental health after his deployments and the tragic loss of a mentor to suicide. This experience led him to explore alternative therapies like ketamine and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which ultimately saved his life.We delved into the science behind these treatments, discussing how ketamine works to downregulate inflammation and promote neuroplasticity, while hyperbaric oxygen therapy stimulates neuron networks and improves executive function. Sam emphasized the importance of combining these treatments with comprehensive care, including therapy and nutritional optimization, to address the root causes of mental health issues. We also discussed the challenges of promoting mental health in the military and veteran community, including the stigma surrounding seeking help and the need for a unified effort to address TBI and PTSD. Sam highlighted the importance of capturing data and stories to change the narrative and provide evidence-based treatments for veterans.Lastly, Sam shared his vision for the future, including expanding the program to incorporate regenerative medicine and creating a single place where veterans can receive comprehensive care and achieve long-lasting healing. He emphasized the need to move away from the revolving door approach and focus on treating the root cause of mental health issues.Overall, this episode shed light on the hidden wounds of war and the innovative treatments available to veterans. It highlighted the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and providing comprehensive care to support veterans on their journey to healing. If you are a current or veteran servicemember struggling with PTSD, Depression, or Traumatic Brain Injuries you can find help through the following programs: https://www.innercept.com/veteran-inpatient-treatment/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-invictus-institute-of-colorado/about/ https://www.altiorhealthcare.com/ speterson@altiorhealthcare.com Admissions and information phone number866-511-6006---------------------Disclaimer:The views and opinions expressed on the podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or posi

Hello and welcome to another episode of This Week Explained! In this episode, we cover a range of topics, including the latest developments in Russia, Ukraine, Israel, and Hamas. We start by discussing the escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine. Putin has been ramping up his anti-NATO rhetoric and has even hinted at a possible peace deal. However, there are differing opinions on whether Putin truly wants peace or if he is just testing the waters before the upcoming elections. We also touch on the role of Russian-backed proxies in the conflict and the potential risks involved.Moving on, we delve into the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. We discuss a recent proposal for a ceasefire and hostage release, which merges various proposals from different countries. However, Israel's recent operation to kill Hamas members in a hospital has complicated the negotiations. We also explore the legality of such operations and the potential implications for civilian safety.Next, we highlight a lesser-known story that has gone under the radar. The FBI recently uncovered a plot by Iranian-backed militants to hire Hells Angels bikers for a murder-for-hire operation in Maryland. This revelation sheds light on Iran's extensive influence and its efforts to silence perceived opponents both domestically and abroad. We also touch on the territorial dispute between Russia and Japan over the Northern Territories. This long-standing issue has prevented the signing of a peace treaty between the two countries since World War II. We discuss the historical context and the potential implications for regional stability.Lastly, we address the ongoing tensions between Hungary and the European Union. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's pro-Russian stance has raised concerns among European leaders. We explore the recent developments and the potential consequences for Hungary's relationship with the EU.Thank you for joining us on this episode of This Week Explained. We hope you find our discussions informative and thought-provoking. This week we discuss the fact that Ukrainian forces have conducted a successful limited raid across the Nepro River, potentially opening up the possibility of a major offensive against Russian forces. There are ongoing assassination attempts against Ukrainian President Zelensky, which is seen as a crucial tactic in taking control of Kiev and Ukraine. The coup in Niger has led to diplomatic efforts from the US, but meetings with the leaders were unsuccessful, indicating a difficult situation. The junta in Niger believes their takeover is justified, and there are concerns about the President's safety if foreign military intervention occurs. The Wagner forces may use the coup in Niger to increase their presence in Africa, sparking anti-France and pro-Russian sentiment, with Western nations opposing their involvement due to past negative experiences. China's recent actions, such as refusing to approve a gas pipeline and providing limited military support, raise questions about its alliance with Russia. However, China and Russia share mutual interests in reducing US influence and challenging the existing international order.----------------------Get your discount on a brand new BlendJet2 by going to our link: https://zen.ai/analytics12subscribe and follow us: https://linktr.ee/AucoinAnalyticsMilitary Influencers Conference: https://militaryinfluencer.com/---------------------Disclaimer:The views and opinions expressed on the podcast 'This Week Explained' are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of any organization or entity. Summary:In this episode, we discuss the recent armed mutiny led by Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin in Russia. We analyze the event's implications, including its impact on the war in Ukraine and the geopolitical relationships between Russia, China, and the United States. The episode contains some speculation on the motives behind the mutiny and its potential effects on President Putin's hold on power. Finally, we highlight the importance of monitoring and analyzing the situation as it unfolds.Key Takeaways:The armed mutiny led by Yevgeny Prigozhin was likely an attempt to topple Russia's military leadership, rather than a traditional coup against President Putin. The Ukrainian government's decision to wait and see rather than capitalize on the chaos was a missed opportunity to advance their counter-offensive in the war.The United States and NATO have been cautious in publicly responding to the situation to avoid giving Putin an opportunity to blame Western adversaries. The situation in Russia has strained China's resources and trade relations, but publicly, China is downplaying the crisis and emphasizing its long-term strategic alliance with Russia. The construction of a new Wagner Group base in Belarus and Prigozhin's presence there could potentially be a move to position him as the next leader of Belarus, with Putin's support.----------------------Get your discount on a brand new BlendJet2 by going to our link: https://zen.ai/analytics12subscribe and follow us: https://linktr.ee/AucoinAnalytics---------------------Disclaimer:The views and opinions expressed on the podcast 'This Week Explained' are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of any organization or entity. In this week's episode of Explained, hosts Tiana and Kervin cover a range of global news topics. They discuss the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the possibility of Ukraine assaulting Crimea in the fall if successful in its counteroffensive. The hosts also touch on tensions between Kosovo and Serbia, North Korea's ballistic missile launch, and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's trip to Beijing to talk to Chinese officials. Egypt has formally applied to join the BRICS Group, a group of five countries working on a new currency to challenge the US dollar as the global currency. However, experts are split on the feasibility of a BRICS currency due to significant economic and political differences among member countries. The hosts also touch on the Office of the Director of National Intelligence declassifying a report about how the intelligence community gathers and utilizes publicly available data. The report discusses commercially available information (CAI) and how the US intelligence is building a system to track mass movement of people around the world and flag what they consider anomalies. This initiative is trying to prevent a terrorist attack before it happens, but raises questions about privacy and the definition of a crime. The hosts end the episode with a discussion on privacy concerns and the need to draw a line on how much data companies and governments should have access to.----------------------Get your discount on a brand new BlendJet2 by going to our link: https://zen.ai/analytics12subscribe and follow us: https://linktr.ee/AucoinAnalytics---------------------Disclaimer:The views and opinions expressed on the podcast 'This Week Explained' are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of any organization or entity. In this episode, hosts Tiana and Kervin cover various global events, including the dam explosion in Ukraine, tensions between Russia and Ukraine, Iran's plans for renewed attacks on US troops in the Middle East, and a new deal between China and Cuba on eavesdropping. The explosion at the power plant caused flooding in the Kherson region, and the motives behind the attack are unclear. Iran has been planning potential attacks on US troops in Syria and recruiting locals to target US forces. Cuba's deal with China to establish an electronic eavesdropping facility on the island raises concerns about privacy and security, allowing China to gather electronic communications from the United States and potentially spy on US military installations. Tensions between China and the United States are rising in the Taiwan Strait, where a Chinese naval ship crossed the bow of a US destroyer within 150 yards, an almost unprecedented action. The Chinese Communist Party claims both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to China, while the US considers Taiwan part of China privately but does not agree with that statement publicly. China's 2025 plan for the invasion of Taiwan is a concern. The hosts also discuss the recent story of a whistleblower claiming that the US government has shot down and captured an unidentified aerial phenomenon (UAP) and is reverse engineering it, but the credibility of the claim is in question. Throughout the episode, Tiana and Kervin emphasize the importance of staying informed and engaging with their audience, both through their podcast and their Instagram and newsletter content. They encourage listeners to provide feedback and ask questions to foster a sense of community and dialogue.----------------------Get your discount on a brand new BlendJet2 by going to our link: https://zen.ai/analytics12subscribe and follow us: https://linktr.ee/AucoinAnalytics---------------------Disclaimer:The views and opinions expressed on the podcast 'This Week Explained' are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of any organization or entity. In a bold move, an exhausted New Zealand Prime Minister resigns and a new election looms, threatening to shift the Pacific's delicate balance of power between China and Japan and ignite a regional war. You will learn how current global politics are affecting the world today. I learned about The Changing Geopolitical Landscape through this week's Explained podcast. This episode covered a variety of topics, including the ongoing war in Ukraine, the resignation of New Zealand's Prime Minister, and the fight over sending tanks to Ukraine. Additionally, Bulgaria's secret support of Ukraine has put it in Russia's crosshairs, while Japan's policies are affecting New Zealand due to its ties to China. With increasing defense spending and the push to make Taiwan an easy victory, countries are having to take a second look at their alliances with China. "It's an honorable thing to make that decision to recognize that you just don't have it in you to give anymore and knowing that somebody else is probably better fit to do the job than you are, and pulling back for your mental health and your family's health and just so many things." In this episode, you will learn the following: 1. How is Bulgaria upsetting Putin by secretly helping out Ukraine? 2. What are the geopolitical implications of New Zealand's prime minister resigning? 3. How is China attempting to monopolize the global economy and force countries to stay out of a war in the Pacific?Loved this episode?
