On the Automovie Pocast we discuss cars and motorsport in films and TV, and geek out about all things automotive on the big and small screen.

Chris and Marty return with another slice of cars-on-screen nerdery, with the new F1 movie trailer, DtS, Formula E tedium plus the top 3 Batmobiles all getting the Automovie treatment. It's good to be back. In the news, the F1 movie has had a full-length trailer released and while Marty is optimistic, Chris has issues with their use of Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain'. Meanwhile, F1TV's Will Buxton has made a surprising move Stateside to commentate on IndyCar, FE still exists somehow and Chris explains why you should watch it, and we talk a bit about why motorsports watching is about to get REALLY annoying with Warner Bros Discovery's axing of Eurosport. For our feature discussion, we travel back in time a few months to bring you an unreleased deep dive into our top 3 Batmobiles! Spoiler alert: the first-place car is black... Henry Catchpole has been driving the wildest 911s with a video on the F1-engined Lanzante 930 and 700bhp Ruf CTR. For our YouTube picks, we highlight Hammond and May's easygoing chemistry when Richard Hammond drinks all of James May's gin and then follow it up with The Abandoned Hammond Family Car That Nobody Knows About featuring Izzy Hammond and Tati Reed. Finally, the Algorithm served up a strange treat in the form of an Unreal Engine-powered heist movie short - check out Rally | An Unreal Engine Action Thriller Short Film and let us know what you think! Chris and Marty return with more movie-based chat, with a belated review of the F1 movie teaser trailer and a discussion of why so many automotive YouTubers are leaving the channels that made them famous to start their own. First off we go back to the F1 movie trailer Then we take a look at the YouTubers - in the car world and outside - who have recently left and why. This episode on "What has Henry Catchpole Larry Chen Been Up To?" Larry takes his R34 GT-R to Garage Yoshida for an amazing restoration, with such fascinating depth. For our picks, we ask, is this the era of the podcast interview? Ones we love include: Ben Fowler - Road to Success High Performance Podcast - Who got the Newey exclusive interview when his Aston Martin position was announced. This episode we are leaving the Automotive towers and going out to the deserts of Botswana to record a special tribute episode to the end of the Clarkson, Hammond and May era. After the release of One for the Road, Chris and Marty look back on the past and present of the work of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, with the impact they have had on car media. This also references the Q&A Clarkson did following a screening of One for the Road at his pub. We also look at the future of the Grand Tour, following Jeremy's comments about what he would like to see. So a little different this time around, usual service to resume next time! Chris and Marty list their top 5 favourite cars in movies, discuss why they haven't seen two fo the biggest films of the summer yet, and Marty declares that rubbin' is racin' after watching NASCAR: Full Speed on Netflix. But first, Youtube have upped the stakes in their war on ad-blockers by introducing adverts in line to videos. James May has recorded his last piece of voice over for the Grand Tour, says next special is out in September, and that is probably it for him in the car world . The F1 movie will be out June 2025 ! Marty has watched NASCAR: Full Speed on Netflix and rates it highly as a gateway to a world of racing he knew little about. For our main discussion this episode, we follow The Smoking Tire podcast in our top 5 movie character cars! In 'What has Henry Catchpole been upto this week?' the Gordon Murray T.50 meets its spiritual predecessor, the McLaren F1 . A great film that changed our minds on the T.50. Our episode picks lost all discipline this month, as Autoalex has picked up the cheapest - and possible worst - Ferrari 360 that Jeremy Clarkson once sat in. Equally the Top Dead Centre boys bought a very cheap, Max Power-era show car which can with interesting mods and even more interesting merch. However at the other end of the scale Horsepower Hunters went in-depth on the HWA 190 Evo not restomod in glorious nerdy detail! Chris and Marty are back for a long discussion of the coolest car-adjacent TV shows, and a deep dive into CGI in films. But first, more Senna news as Netflix announce a dramatic Senna series coming later in the year, and the manufacturer of the replica cars will sell you one too! Have we reached peak Senna? Tom Hartley Jnr has also shown off a collection of race used helmets too, including Senna's Donington '93 helmet! Instead of a review, Chris and Marty discuss cars from TV. What did we miss? What other iconic TV cars are there? In 'What has Henry Catchpole been driving this week?' it's a Blackpool tribute as the TVR Tuscan Speed Six hits 25 years so American can enjoy the smell of fibreglass and resin. For what we have been watching this week - apart from lots of weird and wonderful TV clips with cars in - The Movie Rabbit Hole has started a big conversation about the use of 'no CGI' in movie marketing, and the subsequent VFX breakdowns including Gran Turismo. Is it no big deal, or a very big deal? In this rally-themed special stage of an episode, Chris and Martin review Audi vs. Lancia: Race for Glory, chat about the most famous Colin McRae onboard and wonder just how long Tuthill's Rally With No Name 2023 video will stay online before the copyright FIA exclude it for having a cheaty turbo. But first we temporarily remove our bobble hats to discuss that maybe Amazon isn't done with the Grand Tour as production companies have been approached to pitch for the Grand Tour . Whistles blaring and bobble hats replaced, we settle in to give our thoughts on Race for Glory: Audi vs. Lancia. In 'What Has Henry Catchpole Been Upto This Week?' we stick with our theme and revisit some rally legends reborn in the Kimera EVO37 and the utterly delicious Prodrive P25 . Our joint Youtube pick this episode is the wonder Tuthill Porsche film of the Rally With No Name , which perfectly walks the line between sharing the fun of the event without becoming too much about the fun or the competition. Watch it now before it maybe gets pulled! Inspired by the Collecting Cars podcast , we picked our desert island YouTube clips to watch over and over. Despite a whole list of amazing videos, Marty went with Henry Catchpole driving an Aston Martin N430 Vantage on the old Military Road . Chris went even further back to Chris Harris driving an F1 car in the near freezing cold at Silverstone and part 2 . A great example of Chris putting the viewer vicariously in the experience, including having Martin Brundle on hand to help. In this episode Marty talks about Dan Wheldon, Chris recommends some Drive to Survive episodes, and there are flying dildos. But first, Dan Wheldon's life and legacy is coming to the documentary Lionheart . Chris has watched Drive to Survive, and Marty hasn't. Is it worth a watch, and which episodes are worth your time? But both have watched Grand Tour presents Sand Job . In 'What has Henry Catchpole been upto this week?' it's the F.A.T Ice Race in Aspen - or Goodwood on Ice - with some bizarrely rare and special cars raised up and given studded tyres. For some reason, we're been drenched in interviews this month, with Ben Collins chatting with Top Gear mastermind Andy Wilman , while Dan and Andrew of The Intercooler talking really inside baseball with James May . However, we couldn't avoid talking about Red Bull's challenge to build a drone that can keep up with an F1 car, which may change the way we see Formula cars on the limit. It's deeply impressive and looks like a flying dildo . Chris and Marty are back with a lengthy, waffly review of Michael Mann's Ferrari movie. Is it more than you can afford, pal? Listen to find out. Elsewhere in the episode, we talk about Brad Pitt's F1 movie filming at the Rolex 24 and Harry Metcalfe putting the farmer's welly into BMW's latest EV effort. But first, the Brad Pitt F1 film was seen filming endurance racing scenes at the Daytona 24 hours. Also Andy Wilman shared a trailer for the new Grand Tour special A Sand Job on his Instagram, which comes out Feb 16th. For the review, we look at Michael Mann's Ferrari . In 'What has Henry Catchpole been upto this week?', Henry is back in his bobble-hatted, historically focussed wheel house with the mad Lancia Delta S4 Stradale For his Youtube pick this week, Chris followed listening to a Smoking Tire to visiting the Vehicle Virgins Youtube channel and the McLaren Speedtail video. Marty went with Harry Metcalf's thorough review of the BMW i5 M60 X-Drive. In this episode of the Automovie Podcast, Chris and Martin return for 2024 to remember Top Gear and the Grand Tour as both disappear from our screens, and discuss the usual news and nonsense you've come to expect from two gibbering idiots who watch too much YouTube. But first Chris puts his hands up and shares a mistake from the Gran Turismo review, while Marty shares his thoughts on the movie he's managed to see. Looming over the car landscape since the last episode has been the end of Top Gear and the Grand Tour. Also Chris Harris has written a book! Since our last episode Henry Catchpole has been driving the RML SWB Ferrari 250 GT tribute. For our new combined Youtube picks we went with TG 2 - Cars and Stripes with Jack Rix and Jethro Bovingdon bringing American car content to the Top Gear channel. For our channel pick, it's Driver 61, but specifically the Project Inversion series attempting to drive a formula car upside down! In this episode, Chris and Marty chat about Sky's new documentary Williams & Mansell: Red 5, the nominations for the Motor Film Awards 2023 are out, and Chris braves the brazen product placement to review the new Gran Turismo movie. But first in the news, the Oscars of our world - the Motor Film Awards - have their nominations announced . Michael Mann's Ferrari has released a first trailer and we wonder; can Adam Driver really become Enzo? Chris and Marty both watched the twinned stories of Mansell and Williams in Red 5 . Marty has also been watched B is for Build do boats , Ratarossa and SamCrac rebuilding a slightly charred F430 , and some idiots doing bad stuff to a Ferrari. Chris broke out a podcast of Toto Wolff on Desert Island Discs , lots of Daily Driven Exotics (and their half hour of daily content!) and Chris Harris monstering the Tuthill 911K . Our review for this episode is Gran Turismo . I missed watching Oppenheimer in IMAX for this. In "What has Henry Catchpole been up to this week?" Chris and Marty actually meet up with Henry at the first live recording of The Intercooler podcast ! Henry also drove an OEM+ Tolman Peugeot 205! For his pick, Chris went with the ever excited train enthusiast Downie Live who attended on the Canadian GP with the Alpine F1 team ! His channel pick is from the Motor Film Awards nominations with the young but beautifully produced Misha on Wheels channel. Marty picked another from Larry Chen highlighting <a h

Chris and Marty are back! In this episode, we talk about the new F1 movie and its fake Apex Racing team, there's a mini-review of the latest Mission Impossible movie and Chris looks at 2018's Driven film about Jim Hoffman and John DeLorean. But first, Apex Racing for the as yet unnamed F1 film is being filmed now during active Grand Prix weekends. We'd love to share The Race's great video on it, but F1 have copyright claimed it, so instead here's Martin Brundle chatting with Brad Pitt. Sky Documentaries is now showing their latest Mansell and Williams film . Since our last episode we've been watching The Grand Tour presents Eurocrash , Marty raves about Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1 in IMAX , both have been enjoying Tavarish's P1 Rebuild and Chris loved George Russell in a Eurofighter Typhoon . Following his successes in Ted Lasso, Chris reviews Jason Sudeikis's turn in Driven (Not that one). In 'What has Henry Catchpole been upto this week?', Henry shares his thoughts on the new Aston Martin DB11 , and Chris really, really likes his writing. For his Youtube picks, Chris has picked a Larry Chen video meeting the German YouTuber JP Performance . For his channel, Chris has gone back to The Race for their quick, but insightful reporting. Marty has chosen the latest interview between Doug deMuro and Alanis King discussing their automotive takes, and for his channel its long time Tavarish collaborator Jack Builds It. The Fast franchise is back with Fast X, and we're here with our review of the craziest Fast movie yet. We also talk diggers, Monaco TV and rubbish pick up trucks that made it to the UK. But first we discuss the development of the Dunsfold site , otherwise known as the Top Gear test track. Gran Turismo has a trailer out with the film following soon. F1 has taken over production of the Monaco Grand Prix from TMC , and the next Grand Tour adventure - Eurocrash - is coming out June 16th! Since the last episode, we've both been enthralled by Tavarish salvaging a McLaren P1 , the great Nurburgring 24h live stream , and after Steve Sutcliffe voiced his opinion that the McLaren F1 is overrated , some classic Best Motoring featuring an F1 group test that rather backs up his theory. Chris also raises some interesting tips from The Photographer's Eye about how to get the best out of YouTube for viewers . For our review this episode, it has to be Fast X. Be warned, there is a spoiler section ahead! In 'What has Henry Catchpole been upto this week?', he's been taking a ride in the brain scrambling McMurtry Spieling fan car! For their YouTube picks, Chris went with one from TJ Hunt where he and his crew unpack a BMW Motorsport GT3 body kit , and all giggle like kids at Christmas. For his channel he went with the Nurburgring 24 Hour , which not only hosted live streams of the race, but quickly cut some beautiful highlights packages to aid the fan engagement. Marty picked F1 sharing the whole Imola Grand Prix from 2005, but as we recorded F1 had pulled it (Although it's still on the excellent F1 TV) and instead he

Chris and Marty review the recent Villeneuve Pironi documentary and chat the usual rubbish about what they've been watching (a lot of YouTube) and what they think you should be watching (also a lot of YouTube). But first, the first talk from the F1 organisation has said filming for the upcoming F1 movie will be disruptive . In other news; water is wet. the Pope is catholic and bears do that thing in the woods. Since the last episode, Chris and Marty have been watching sooooo much YouTube. Marty loved the Throttle House Porsche 918 Spyder Review , Obsessed Garage Wash And Drive: 997.1 Porsche GT3RS and Ratarossa Rebuilding a Wrecked Ferrari 430 Scuderia . Chris is loving the Team Prawn Racing channel, Hard Up Garage I BOUGHT ABANDONED SUPERCAR!!! WITH ONE HUGE PROBLEM!! , More Larry Chen, and the fascinating What Is Monaco Like 2 Months Before The Race? , Returning with a movie review, Chris and Marty discuss the moving Villeneuve Pironi . Catching up with Henry Catchpole's work, his film Prototype Porsche 959 Sport: The Fastest 959 EVER? passed the Automovie Podcast test of looking at 959s for sale before the video had even finished. For his YouTube picks - yes, more YouTube content this episode! - Marty went with Flat Out In The £3m, 654bhp GMA T.50 V12 Fan Car from Top Gear, while his channel of choice is the brilliantly named Savagegeese . Meanwhile Chris went with Stefan Drury's Building the 2023 Australian F1 Circuit 🏁 and for his channel Driven Media is really channelling those early Top Gear vibes. On this episode Chris asks if Drive to Survive is still a must watch for F1 fans, Marty marvels at Adam LZ's compound and they both form the Jason Cammisa mutual appreciation society. But first, the trailer for Fast X has dropped, and Marty's not sure if the meme comments are better than the bonkers trailer. Netflix's new season of Drive to Survive has landed, but is it still interesting for F1 fans? Do they need to grow with the audience? The BBC have halted filming on the latest series of Top Gear and issued an apology to Freddie Flintoff . We both hope Freddie can make a full recovery quickly and move on with his life, but what does it mean for Top Gear? Since the last episode Marty has been watching lots of Adam LZ videos and Jason Cammisa crushing it on Hagerty . Chris has particularly enjoyed Red Bull's Aussie Adventure and Misha Charoudin sharing the behind the scenes of how one of his videos is filmed and edited . In 'What Is Henry Catchpole Up To This Week?' news, he takes his childhood tifosi to drive the Ferrari Purosangue For his Youtube pick, Chris went for something a little different with Jet Lag The Game's l atest series of turning the roads of New Zealand into a board game . The whole channel is worth a watch if you like adventure and games with travel. Marty watched mountain bike racer Matt Jones building jumps in his garden for his Ariel Nomad ! He also highlighted the FIA WEC Youtube channel who are posting race replays as well as their highlights packages! In this episode, we don't review a move! Instead, Marty tries to watch the Lamborghini movie, Chris does some research on how to help YouTubers reach more viewers and we discuss why Ted Kravtiz is vital to Sky's F1 coverage. But first, B is for Build has posted a carefully worded summary of the court cases surrounding licensing for Eleanor builds . Girardo and Co and Fiskens are selling cars in Paris connected to the movie Le Mans, and Johnny Herbert and Paul di Resta are no longer presenting on Sky F1 . Since the last episode Marty tried watching the Lamborghini movie and it didn't go well, Mat Armstrong is trying to rebuild a 992 GT3 and Mighty Car Mods are literally overnighting parts from Japan . Chris enjoyed the behind the scenes look at broadcasting the 2021 British Grand Prix on F1 TV, but it was this video from JayEmmoncars that sparked the question of what viewers can do to help support YouTube creators they like. The big takeaways were: The best thing you can do is personally share and recommend videos. This helps creators find like minded viewers and will help grow their audience. Listen to creators. If they are pushing their merch, Patreon, brand sponsors or other sales, this is them telling you how their business is supported. Liking, commenting and subscribing may be a cliche, but it does help. By subscribing to channels, it does help them find sponsors and set rates accordingly. A huge thanks for James Martin and Misha Charoudin for their input, as well as Attache Travel , Super Rider and more for their honest insight. In 'What Is Henry Catchpole Up To This Week?' news, he's squeezed his tall frame into <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=532ljj1xzAY" rel="

On our first episode of 2023, Chris and Marty compare 1975's Death Race 2000 and 2008's Death Race, reflect on the work of Ken Block, catch up on all the good car content that was released over Christmas and argue about whether Drive to Survive still appeals to F1 fans. But first, we discuss the sad passing of Ken Block and the legacy he leaves behind, the remake of Bullitt, is this the end of the Grand Tour? and Drive to Survive is out Feb 24th! Since the last episode, we've been watching loads of Car Trek - both in episodes and the Oregon Fail special - Michael Fassbender actually completes the Road to Le Mans (Or does he?). Evo's Car of the Year is actually good again. Chris starts watching the Bernie story 'Lucky', all the Gymkhana films, a short film about Group B rallying starring Richard Madden, the real story behind Mighty Car Mods and Turbos and Temples 3 . For our reviews we compare Death Race 2000 (1975) and Death Race (2008). In What Has Henry Catchpole Been Driving This Week? He ended his Carfection run with a sublime Ferrari 550 Maranello video, highlighting just what a brilliant car that is. He also drove the McLaren Mercedes SLR HDK by MSO , which was a wonderful bit of rare groove automobilia! For our picks, Chris went for Mercedes F1's Las Vegas demo run as a flex of 360 camera tech, while his channel was Donut Media (again), especially the High Car/Low Car challenges. Marty excavated a wonderful documentary about Thrust SSC from Archive.org for his pick, while the channel could only be Hoonigan . If you want to tell us if we’re right, wrong o

We're back! After an impromptu hiatus, we return to review the final film (for now) in the Mission Impossible series, 2018's Mission Impossible: Fallout. In other news, we discuss the end of Carfection (sob), I go off on a tangent about why LEGO Batman is the best Batman and both of us try to remember how to do this podcast-about-cars-in-films-and-on-TV-and-the-internet thing. You've missed us, right? But first Keanu Reeves is becoming quite the motorsport film maker, as he's now attached to a documentary about the WRC. Carfection has quietly published its last video as CNET has decided to close a number of its video channels. And the Motor Film Awards has announced its 2022 winners ! Since the last episode we've been watching The Grand Tour's Scandi Flick , Chris has seen tech YouTube getting into cars with LTT and MKBHD and Marty has been thoroughly enjoying Mighty Car Mods STI swapping a Levorg ! To finish up our Mission Impossible run, we discuss Mission Impossible: Fallout and what the franchise means for car movies more widely. This episode we both What Has Henry Catchpole Been Upto? and also where, as Carfection winds down, but Henry launches his Hagerty career with a Mk1 Escort . Our Youtube picks this week are heavy on photographer-extrodinaire Larry Chen. Chris went with Larry's video about the mastermind behind RWB (also for Hagerty) and the Last Lap Podcast as the channel pick, while Marty chose Larry talking to Patrick Long about Luftgekühlt and the continuing excellent of Jason Cammisa's channel . We're still choosing to accept missions, this time to review Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol and Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. Marty talks archive WEC races on YouTube and adds more details to the upcoming Brawn F1 documentary from Keanu Reeves, and Chris wonders whether the recently-auctioned 992 'Sally' Carrera is the most expensive 911 of all time. But first, Sally Carrera - the Pixar/Porsche collaboration - sells for $3.6m ! The Grand Tour's Scandi Flick has a trailer out ahead of Sept 16th release. Did Jenson Button reveal the Brawn documentary is coming out to Disney+ sooner than expected? That and several more projects with F1 involvement . The Guardian reviews The Hit , the documentary focussing on Tony Stewart and Kevin Ward Jr's incident in which Kevin lost his life. For our movie reviews, we turn a corner with Mission Impossible and watch the increasingly better Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation . In "What has Henry Catchpole been upto this episode?" he joins the ever chatty Andreas Preuninger to go through the nuts and bolts of the 992 GT3 RS , and as a bonus, Carfection also have a film about the new 911 Turbo S running the street car class at Pikes Peak . The film is a collaboration with 000 Magazine, and includes a car wrapped in a magazine feature of Dickie Meaden driving the 930 Turbo, with Andy Morgan's photographs too! For our Youtube picks, Chris chose a tech video from Mrwhosetheboss looking at every Playstation version . Why? Because they use Gran Turismo to show the advancement and wow... Being as we're on the cutting edge of finding new up and coming talent, Chris also chose the 2.2m subscriber Throttle House for his channel having watched the great battle of the 6x6 Brabus vs a home ma

We choose to accept the mission to review Mission: Impossible 2 and Mission: Impossible 3, Chris talks us through the new US F1 TV rights and wonders exactly who is paying the bills at Drivetribe these days, while Marty reviews the latest series of Top Gear and learns about a very special Porsche 911 in Japan. But first, Variety reports that Keanu Reeves is planning a documentary about the Brawn GP Formula 1 team . Whoa. The Formula 1 TV rights have been sold to ESPN in the US, for many dollars. There's a second series of Richard Hammond’s Workshop commissioned, and the Grand Tour have been filming a new special in Poland. We should see that in around 6 months, just in time for Christmas. This episode's reviews are Mission: Impossible 2 (a bit cack but good car chases) and 3 (really good, but not enough orange Lamborghini). We'll be doing the later, crazier Mission films in the next couple of episodes. In 'What has Henry Catchpole Been Up To This Week?', Henry has been arguing with himself about the Lamborghini Huracan STO and reviewing the Morgan Super 3 . Chris's YouTube pick is a mini-documentary about the 2022 Nürburgring 24H from Misha Charoudin who has been crushing it with excellent content of late, and highlights Brad Philpot's YouTube channel which is full of similarly excellent F1 stuff. Marty chose a video about a rather special Porsche 911 , which turns out to also be a fascinating look at late 80s and early 90s car culture in Japan, detailing the exploits of the infamous Mid Night Club, and highlights the channel the video came from too. In this episode Chris and Marty talk Top Gun Maverick, 1994's Speed, how a Gran Turismo movie might work and Marty goes full fanboy on Kévin Estre. But first, The Drive report Sony is planning on making a Gran Turismo TV series .. Somehow. Which reminds us that someone made a whole episode of Best Motoring in Gran Turismo ! Michael Fassbender has competed at Le Mans this year, while Brad Pitt's Plan B has signed a deal with Apple Originals for an F1 movie . There is also a bidding war brewing for the US F1 TV rights . We have been watching TOP GUN:MAVERICK! We've also been binging on the media campaign around it, including: Top Gun 2's Aerial Coordinator Describes The Cameraships That Captured The Flying Magic Tom Cruise v. Christopher Nolan: The Battle for the Best IMAX Stunts What is IMAX? | Is IMAX worth it? | How does IMAX work? | Top Gun Maverick | Jurassic World Tom Cruise Talks F1, Flying And Top Gun With The C4F1 Team | Top Gun x Formula 1 Also Barry Norman reviewed the original Top Gun too in his typical fashion. In this episode of the Automovie Podcast, Chris and Marty talk about the recently-released Max Mosley documentary on Netflix, the surprise departure of Justin Lin from Fast X, and selflessly watch the Dukes of Hazzard so that you don't have to. We also discover that we're not the only cars in films podcast out there, so say hi to Reels and Wheels ! But first, Justin Lin has left Fast Ten . No word why, or if he'll be back for Fast 11. The great team at Tangent Vector have started producing a new series for Top Gear's YouTube channel with Rob Dahm called American Tuned . Alex Kersten has set up his own YouTube channel - Auto Alex - and his draw alone has garnered hundreds of thousands of subscribers in anticipation of new content. And finally the BBC has started posting old film reviews by the great, and much missed Barry Norman. His style was so well known and imitated that he became as much of a star as the films he reviewed, like Back to the Future here. And why not. Since our last episode Chris has watched Mosley: It's Complicated which also coincided with this interview with Nikita Mazepin , and both had the same sort of media control. Marty visited hallowed ground in the Lake District (if you're going, stay in this cottage !) and talks about the Bluebird K7 restoration documentary . For our main review we discussed both the acting, and driving in the Dukes of Hazzard (2005) . Moving on... For his YouTube picks, Chris went with Driver61 putting F1 wheels and tyres onto an MR2 with... results. It also answered the question "What would happen if you wrapped someone up in tyre blankets?" His channel pick is SAMMIT , especially his time around <a href="htt

The Automovie Podcast turns 50! Chris and Marty pick some of their favourite Top Gear moments and reflect on their most notable films from the first 49 episodes! But first, Chris shares his thoughts on season 4 of Drive to Survive , The Drive have a great write up on the Pixar x Porsche 992 Sally , and Sky F1 to go HDR as well as 4K in 2022! Chris signed up for F1 TV while enjoying the extensive archive! Thanks to David Barrett for the idea, so Chris and Marty come up with their top 3 Top Gear features from over the years. In 'What has Henry Catchpole Been Driving This Week?' we see Henry driving the new Lotus Emira . For his YouTube picks, Chris found the answer to "How much faster is an F1 driver than a normal person?" and he also went with the channel First We Feast AGAIN because Dave Grohl did the Hot Ones challenge and was amazing. Marty continued with the Jason Cammisa vibe as Jason looks back at the Lotus Elise while his channel MPZracevideo is hill climb goodness. Chris and Marty review the classic 1971 Vanishing Point, while discussing Top Gear's original Toyboata episode, the upcoming Season 4 of Netflix's Drive to Survive, and what to do with three Mika Hakkinens. Netflix have launched the trailer for the new series of Drive to Survive , coming out 11th March halfway through the Bahrain F1 test. Chris raises the first Top Gear cars into boats episode as maybe the peak of Top Gear? Marty has been watching Reacher (BRG Bentley Flying Spur. Also lots of punching) , as well as The Wheel Network with video on the 718 Cayman GT4 RS . With F1 2022 just around the corner, Marty reminds us that F1 TV has some great punditry from Jolyon Palmer looking at classic races, while Chris has been enjoying some of the r etrospectives on YouTube . Speaking of which, this podcast is now on YouTube too, if that's where you enjoy your podcasts. Likecommentsubscribe. This episode Chris and Marty are discussing 1971's Vanishing Point . In 'What has Henry Catchpole Been Driving This Week?' we see Henry driving the Guntherwerks 993 Speedster . The cinematographer is outstanding, and the work in shooting and editing by Marc Ganley is absolutely top notch. Also on Carfection, Alex Goy's excellent video on the GTO Engineering 250 California Spyder reminded us just how good of a presenter and writer Alex is. For Chris's YouTube picks, he started with Marques Brownlee turning his Tesla Model S into a camera car , and his channel is the hugely popular Corridor Crew for some VFX goodness. Marty chose an Instagram reel to be down with the kids, of an amazing lap of the Ebisu drift circuit , and

Chris and Marty talk through their Yuletide viewing, including another documentary about the DeLorean, the controversial 2021 Formula 1 championship showdown in Abu Dhabi, the Grand Tour's Carnage a Trois, Evo Magazine's eCotY video and much, much more. But first, news! One of our favourite cinematographers Charlie B Rose has moved to become Head of Video for TopGear.com, while Larry Chen has taken over the Hoonigan AutoFocus Youtube channel as Hoonigan has focussed on their central channel. This was announced before an in-depth look at a Toyota Supra (sort of) with a Judd V10 in it !. Fast and Furious news is ramping up, with Vin Diesel and The Rock having a public feud while a RX-7 replica managed to sell for $75,000 . Brad Pitt is making an F1 film that sounds quite a lot like Driven ? Drivetribe is now going video only . The proper things we've watched since the last episode; The Grand Tour present Carnage a Trois , Car Trek 6 and Evo's Car of the Year . Rather than film reviews this episode, we've instead discussed the things that have been filling our sherry-fuelled Christmas YouTube hours. So... In this episode Chris and Marty review two very different movies with the word 'Drive' in the title, Hammond's Workshop gets the Automovie once-over, Driftworks gets the love it deserves, and Chris sneaks in a review of Ghostbuster Afterlife on a technicality. But first, Chris has been enjoying Ghostbusters:Afterlife on an IMAX screen because he's a big Ghostbusters nerd. Top Gear produced a fantastic behind the scenes look at how they shoot cars in a studio . The Grand Tour have released the trailer for Carnarge A Trois , and F1 has produced a beautiful tribute to Frank Williams with a great script by Sarah Holt . In news, The Drive and Donut Media are now under the same ownership , Chris has watched Hammond's Workshop , but it's the accompanying behind the scenes Drivetribe content and how he's a great example to the upcoming YouTube presenters which is really impressive. Also the new series of Car Trek is out soon, as Matt Farah is also back with more All Cars Go to Heaven. For the reviews, Marty watches Drive , while Chris takes a listener suggest and discusses the similarly named Overdrive . This week Henry Catchpole has been driving the new track special Mclaren 720S GT3X . For their YouTube picks, Chris enjoys Jason Cammisa going through the Porsche GT history . It's a great companion piece with the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqWvJP0HbVk" rel="noo

After a month away from their now thoroughly disinfected microphones, Chris and Marty return to the Automovie Podcast and finally get around to reviewing Mad Max: Fury Road. We also talk Top Gear a lot, Back to the Future quite a bit, and NO TIME FOR SPOILERS! But first, after both being bed ridden, Chris and Marty have been watching the Porsche Taycan meeting the BTTF Delorean advert (with Mayor Goldie Wilson...) Michael Fassbender is back in the 911 RSR for another season of Road to Le Mans . Chris finally watched Expedition: Back to the Future on Discovery+ and gave it a thumbs up for the BTTF geeks out there. Listener David Barrett pointed out that Tyler Hoover was putting all 40 of his cars up for sale , and he was not alone as Car Trek mates Ed Bolian and Freddie Tavarish were doing the same. Chris and Marty have both seen the new Bond, and this is NO TIME FOR SPOILERS! Fifth Gear Recharged is coming back to Discovery+ with a new focus on electrified motoring. The BBC has put all episodes of Top Gear up on iPlayer - at least for UK viewers - with the original music and only the small Senna documentary missing. Also Top Gear America has made it onto Discovery+ for UK viewers too! And the new series of Top Gear will be on British screens November 14th. Friend of the show Matt Lange pointed us in the direction of Florida car dealership Curated selling a collection of four screen used cars from the Transformers movies being sold from Michael Bay's personal collection for $2m. They also posted a chat with Michael Bay on their YouTube channel , with some interesting tidbits and some bad audio at times. The main film for review this episode is Mad Max: Fury Road . Since our last episod

In this episode, Chris and Marty talk Bond, James Bond as they discuss their favourite Bonds, Bond cars and chases ahead of the release of No Time To Die. There's also a review of the new Schumacher documentary on Netflix and the latest season of Car Trek. Since the last episode Car Trek series 5 has dropped on YouTube and oh, it's good! Also the Schumacher documentary on Netflix which is.... good. We ask if Netflix really would buy F1 ? With No Time To Die finally on the horizon, we discuss what makes a great Bond car, and which cars would we choose? In 'What has Henry Catchpole Been Driving This Week?' we see Henry imagining a dystopian future where the 964 has survived the robotic uprising. For our YouTube picks, Chris kept with the Bond theme as Tyler Hoover picks up the curiously well valued BMW Z8 , and recommends the Cinemasins YouTube channel who are now getting into more and more Bond. Marty took Chris's suggestion of Top 10 Moments of Jacques Villeneuve Brilliance and rather swerved it, but did pick the excellent JayEmm on Cars who delivers pleasingly well written and presented videos firmly in the traditional Top Gear mold, and without any of the annoyance of his nouveau riche, pastry bothering namesake. Chris and Marty talk about whether automotive YouTube is getting stale, wax lyrical about Will Buxton's wonderful love letter to Le Mans, and look forward to the next Car Trek! But first, Will Buxton did a special programme for Motorsport.tv sharing his first trip to Le Mans. It's an hour well spent, and Chris thinks possibly up there if not better than Steve McQueen's Le Mans. It is available now and for free here . The Car Trek series 5 trailer is out , and it looks like they're keeping up the improvement! Rather than reviews this episode, instead Chris and Marty are discussing the current state of car YouTube. Chris wrote about his thoughts in 2014 (back when Shmee150 was at 300k subscribers!) but now what are channels doing, and how can it continue? In 'What has Henry Catchpole Been Driving This Week?' he's in yet another iconic rally car with Audi Sport Quattro S1 Evolution 2: We Drive The Most Iconic Group B Rally Car! For their YouTube picks, Chris went with the sort of content YouTube does so well, which is one person's dream drive in a Civilian Toyota Mega Cruiser: A Comprehensive Tour . His channel pick is the animated series of video essays from Josh Revell . Marty got into Best Motoring talking about Toyota GT-86 torque curves and then fell down that rabbit hole again... In this episode, Chris and Marty demand things to be awesome as we take a look at the hyperactive, hyperkinetic car chases from Michael Bay's early career. Plus, a review of The Grand Tour presents Lochdown and a preview of the Michael Schumacher documentary coming to Netflix in September. But first, Chris and Marty go through what they've been watching recently, Mighty Car Mods had an awesome vibes music-only build of Kei truck turbo conversion , (and also the PSHHH PSHHH video ). Bad Obsession Motorsport have now put the wiring loom into the seven year journey of Project Binky and broken through 400k subscribers! We discuss The Grand Tour's Lochdown - and Andy Willman's interview about it . And Netflix have added the BBC documentary Myth & Mogul: John DeLorean and have included Back to the Future in the new series of The Movies That Made Us. Netflix also have the Michael Schumacher documentary out Sept 15th, Tangent Vector - the team behind /DRIVE and the Apex films have teamed up with Cross Creek Pictures for a deal including another APEX film and more... Richard Hammond has sold a number of cars and motorbikes to fund the ongoing work of his car restoration business The Smallest Cog, which is being featured in a future Discovery series. This episode though is a tribute to Michael Bay, who Chris really first say in this Verizon commercial where he demands things be awesome and then explode . Marty guides us through Bad Boys , Bad Boy2 , The Rock and The Island . In 'What has Henry Catchpole Been Driving This Week?' we have two entries. Chris loved the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WAKiSnhIG0" rel="noopener noreferre

In this episode, Chris watches a man dig a hole, Marty brushes up on his German, and we see if Fast 9 is becoming its own parody. Since our last episode Marty has been enjoying Timo Bernhard talking Porsche motorsport history and Matt Farah doing his usual excellent Smoking Tire One Take on the new GT3 with Touring package , and Chris has been catching up with Colin Furze (not late to the party on that one or anything...) digging a big hole , #Vanlife YouTubers like Thomas Heaton , Kara and Nate , A Bus and Beyond , The Singletrack Sampler and The Endless Adventure . We've also both been shocked and saddened at the flooding and devastation around the Nurburgring in German. Misha Charoudin has been doing great work publicising the relief efforts in the area, and our thoughts and best wishes are with all those affected. Big News! The Grand Tour presents Lochdown is coming to Amazon Prime July 30th! The BBC have shown a full length documentary about Carlos Ghosn's escape from house arrest in Japan while disguised as a musical instrument , and there's a Max Mosley documentary coming soon too. For this episode, Marty has ventured to an actual cinema to see an actual new release in Fast 9 , while Chris was inspired by this YouTube video on spoof movies to try Superfast . Spoiler alert - it's sh*t. This week, Henry Catchpole has been <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?

Chris and Marty both watch the original 1974 Gone in 60 Seconds film for the first time, and are surprised to find that no-one is annoying in the original as Kip Raines is in the remake. Also, we talk Clarkson doing farming, Henry Catchpole drives a Golf, and a man watches every Fast and Furious film. But first, Chris has watched Clarkson's Farm and loves it, and Tim Jonze watched the entire Fast and Furious franchise for The Guardian . For the main review, both Chris and Marty watched the original Gone in 60 Seconds (1974) having never seen it previously, despite the 2000 remake being so central to both's love of cars and films. For our online picks, and in celebration of Pride month, we'd hoped to feature more LGBTQ+ content, sadly it is thin on the ground. However, we absolutely support Racing Pride in their work to bring more inclusivity to motorsport, welcoming the LGBTQ+ community to our paddocks and screens. Hopefully we can celebrate more of these voices as we find them. Following on from our last episode, Henry Catchpole has done a follow up chat with DK Engineering on what's been described as the unicorn road test, and DK have also finished up their series of owner's guides with the Mclaren F1 in great detail. We'd love to chat with Henry about the group test, but frankly The Smoking Tire have done it brilliantly . Well worth a listen. in a change of double clutched gear though, Henry Catchpole this week has been driving the new Golf R . For Chris's YouTube picks he went for the fantastic F1 video looking behind the scenes of Mercedes' strategic masterclass at the 2021 Spanish Grand Prix. Marty chose Abby Eaton's onboard from Oulton Park in the small but quick Praga. <a hr

In a step away from our usual format, Chris and Marty talk about motorsport TV, including what drives them mad about IndyCar coverage, why Monaco was the best Formula E race to date, and why Marty worries about whether Anthony Davidson can pay his mortgage. But first, we discuss the great Car Trek Season 4 and Hagerty reports a screen used, Paul Walker-driven orange Toyota Supra from the first two Fast and the Furious films is going under the hammer . For their YouTube picks, Marty went with Alex Brundle's excellent Good Lap vs Great Lap - Lewis Hamilton at Monaco 2019 , and then Romain Grosjean's official channel , which includes his similarly excellent track guide to Monaco . Chris combined the love of build channels and racing channels by highlighting Team Prawn Racing, with Nick Vaughn who both builds and races his Audi A3. This year has seen a big push by Praga to highlight their R1 race car, and Jimmy Broadbent has been taking his viewers with him into the cockpit. Lastly, what has Henry Catchpole been up to this week? Well…this: McLaren F1, Porsche 911 GT1, Mercedes CLK GTR: The ULTIMATE Group Test, Part 1 . In the first part is the McLaren F1, then the 911 GT1 in the second, with the CLK GTR to follow. DK Engineering’s user guides for the CLK GTR and 911 GT1 are also well worth a watch to really geek out about every detail of both of these super, super rare cars! While we're talking about Henry, while we do focus on moving pictures, we also love great long-form written content and Henry has joined the roster of writers on The Intercooler app. If you appreciate great automotive writing, for just a few pounds a month you get daily content from some amazing writers! In this episode, Chris and Marty get geeky about Formula 1 with a deep dive into the latest season of Netflix's Drive to Survive, plus reviews of both 1966's Grand Prix and 2013's F1: Life on the Limit. But first, Fast 9 is gearing up for release with a rather silly trailer , Motortrend TV is closing outside the US and becoming part of Discovery+ (and you can get 12 months subscription to Discovery+ free in the UK with Sky VIP ), and we give our thoughts on season 3 of the Netflix hit Drive to Survive ! In this episode Chris is finally watching John Frankenheimer's Grand Prix (1966) for the first time, and Marty revisits an old favourite documentary 1: Life on the Limit . In 'What has Henry Catchpole been up to this week?' the answer is driving the rather pretty Peugeot 508 . For their YouTube picks, Chris went with a Behind the Scenes video on the Driftworks Lamborghini GT1 inspired Murcielago , and if you haven't watched the Driftworks channel it is well worth a look. Marty chose the excellent, though largely overlooked, Alex Brundle racing classics , and while his channel pick is the Tavarish sister channel Wrench Every Day . Cartoon connections link this episode's movies as Chris watches The Great Race (which inspired Wacky Races) and Marty watches the The Wachowski Brothers' 2008 movie Speed Racer, based on the 1960s anime. But first, we lament the loss of the great Murray Walker - and thanks to F1 for a great compilation of some of his greatest moments - and Sabine Schmitz. It would be utterly remiss of us to not include one of Sabine's most electric opening laps . Thanks to Ed Bolian from VINWiki for recording a trailer for us , and we have donated $100 to the Atlanta Children's Shelter as a thank you. Listener Nigel Fanning brought the Blue Danube deleted scene from the 1969 Italian Job to our attention. We catch up with the very good Top Gear now on BBC 1 in the UK. Chris talks The Great Race (1965), and Marty reviews the visual fest of Speed Racer (2008). In 'What has Henry Catchpole been up to this week', he's been very clever with canals reviewing the Ford Puma ST . For their YouTube picks, Chris went to Kara and Nate's visit to the world's largest gas station in Texas - and it's called "Buc-ee's", while also nodding to Seen Through Glass's UK version in a Rolls Royce just off the M25 . For a channel pick, it's Dale Lomas's BTGDale as he sheds more light on what's going on at and round the Nurburgring. Marty also picked another hot Nurburgring lap , but followed Chris's lead on cheating by naming many, many channels that have been creating lots of great content. In honour of the new series of Top Gear America, hosted by Dax Shepard with Rob Corddry and Jethro Bovingdon, Chris and Marty watch a double bill of Dax movies with Hit and Run and CHiPs. In other news, Marty drinks some whisky and Chris wants to be a racing driver. But first, Drive to Survive Season 3 has been announced to arrive on Netflix on March 19th. The Australian V8 series have also added a lot of old races to their YouTube channel. Chris and Marty also review Top Gear America , now streaming on Motortrend and hosted by Dax Shepard with Rob Corddry and Jethro Bovingdon. While this is not available in the UK directly, it can be with a VPN. With Dax front and centre, this is a good opportunity to review two films written, directed and starring Dax. Chris talks Hit and Run (2012) while Marty discusses CHIPS (2017). Since our last episode Henry Catchpole has gone to Hethel for Lotus Elise Sport 240 - The LAST EVER Elise . For our YouTube picks, Chris has just finished building a Lego Bugatti Chiron so has picked a video looking at how a full sized Lego Bugatti was built and run under its own power . At the other end of the scale is Chris's channel pick - The HERO-ERA . This is historic, long distance rallying recorded by HERO-ERA (Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation) for those who love properly old cars doing properly epic rally routes. Marty picks a classic of David Evans in an Elise at the Bathurst Mount Panorama circuit , finding gaps where they shouldn't exist, and moving through the grid at pace. For a channel, it's the compelling, honest vTuned Garage rebuilding all manner of cars. If you want to tell us if we

It's all about superchargers this episode as Marty watches the original Mad Max and Chris brushes up on his Norwegian for Asphalt Burning. Also we look at the great content released over Christmas and we discuss overheating i8s. First though we review Evo Car of the Year coming to ITV in the UK (and now on YouTube), and the Car Trek Christmas Special came out - and we issued a $100 charity challenge to Ed Bolian . Sky Documentaries released Steve McQueen: The Lost Movie (with discovered footage shared by Motorsport Magazine ) and Chris revisited the series Fernando . While not car related, we're also looking forward to Richard Hammond and Tori Bellachi in Amazon's new The Great Escapists and Mark Kermode has a new series of the always brilliant Secrets of Cinema too! For this episode, we're watching movies featuring big superchargers sticking through bonnets. Marty reviews the original 1979 Mad Max while Chris watches Asphalt Burning (or Børning 3) which Misha Charoudin did a great behind the scenes video, where he was one of the police car drivers! Catching up with Henry Catchpole , he's been driving the new Jaguar F-Type P450 , but all this talk of Singer recently reminded Chris of the Reimagined by Singer video from Carfection. Also launched is Carfection news i

In this episode we look for the best Top Gear episodes to introduce friends who've never seen a single show, we question Dario Franchitti's t-shirt style and marvel at Michael Fassbender's low body fat. But first, we discuss The Grand Tour Presents: A Massive Hunt , and we very much enjoyed the final episode of Michael Fassbender's Road to Le Mans series with Porsche . We look at content coming out this Christmas: Evo Car Of The Year comes to ITV 4 in the uk! There's a Car Trek Christmas special on Tavarish's channel soon A Race of Champions documentary 'On the Line' premieres on Motorsport.tv Travis Pastrana took over the Hoonigan drive , with an excellent behind the scenes on his 862hp Gymkhana Car too! On MotorTrend is the excellent Pikes Peak: On The Edge Also on Jan 29th is the start of Top Gear America on MotorTrend. So far the fun-looking Hollywood trailer is out. Jalopnik have listed the most exciting films ACCORDING TO SCIENCE . For this episode Marty was asked "What are the best episodes of Top Gear to show someone who has never seen it?" The Fast & Furious marathon concludes as Chris and Marty take on the biggest and silliest movies of the Fast franchise so far, Furious 7 and Fate of the Furious, where cars jump through buildings, baddies hack into nuclear submarines and none of this matters because Kurt Russell! In other news, Porsche's excellent Road to Le Mans series continues and we get excited by A Massive Hunt. Michael Fassbender's Road to Le Mans continues, and we think it's one of the best documentary series we've seen this year. Also Pistonhead's Sam Sheehan has done a great video driving the 991 RSR GTE . We already covered Bad Obsession Motorsport's series racing a C1, but the end of season review has a great ending, and is recommended. We've had the first trailer for The Grand Tour's special A Massive Hunt , which looks ace. Also a new series called Sorted has started, which could be great but has a fairly major flaw. Chris Harris has had a busy month for content. First doing a very revealing 2 part interview with Jonny Smith on The Late Brake Show . Then a good discussion with Remove Before Race talking about the influencer approach and where AMG is going wrong. He's also started doing longer form interviews on the Top Gear YouTube channel, the best of which so far is Chris Harris talks EVs with Graeme Cooper from the National Grid . For the last part of the current Fast and Furious marathon, Chris talks Fast and Furious 7 while Marty rounds out the series with The Fate of the Furious . Thank God we're done, let's move on. In this episode's 'What has Henry Catchpole been up

The Fast & Furious marathon continues as Chris and Marty dig into Fast Five and Fast 6, where the vehicular mayhem takes on a whole different level of crazy and Vin Diesel's voice disappears into the realms of sub-bass and frequencies only whales can hear. The nominations for the Motor Film Awards 2020 are up, and it's well worth taking a look at their show reel! The BBC reports that Justin Lin will wrap up the Fast and Furious with 10 and 11 . Michael Fassbender's racing journey continuing in season 2 of Porsche's excellent Road to Le Mans series as he enters the ELMS. If you're of a certain age or watch along with us, you'll love the reference in this great car ad - LiftMaster Secure View - Oh Yeah! The Fast and Furious marathon continues; Chris watches Fast 5 while Marty goes flipping mad with Fast and Furious 6 . In this episode's 'What has Henry Catchpole been up to this week?', he's been doing another awesome film, this time going back to the 80s with the Lamborghini Diablo SV . Chris' YouTube pick this week is a 330 HP / 1000 KG Mk 2 Ford Fiesta ! For a channel pick, Jonny Smith's excellent work continues as he launches The Late Brake Show . For this episode, Chris and Marty continue their Fast and Furious retrospective series. Chris looks at the often forgotten fourth film that saved the franchise, Fast & Furious, while Marty is in JDM heaven with Tokyo Drift. First of all, Chris gives his impressions on Long Way Up on Apple TV+ and Race to Perfection from Sky F1/Documentaries now we're a few episodes into both. Chris and Marty are also both thrilled that Car Trek Season 2 is here! Tyler Hoovie has also hinted that season 3 is already underway... We asked and you answered wanting more Fast and Furious reviews, so this time Marty gives his thoughts on Tokyo Drift being JDM as f**k, while Chris gets literally up in the business of Fast and Furious and its role in giving us the Fast and Furious we know today. In this episode's 'What has Henry Catchpole been up to this week?', he's been Silverstone-bound in the Mclaren 675, no, hang on, 567... Let me check. 765LT doing a track test. Marty's YouTube pick this week is Robert Kubica driving the Nurburgring in an Apex Nurburg M4. Seriously, if you only watch one video this is the one. Misha then also did a follow up video looking at the wear and tear from such an adventure . For his channel pick, he went with Tavarish , not just the home of Car Trek, but a great series of interesting, weird and wonderful projects. Anyone who is willing to attempt a rebuild of a Mclaren 675LT that's been rather crashed is well worth a watch! Chris continued his interest in building projects with Ammo NYC's year long studio build in minute, exquisite detail. If your interest is more about wrenching and enthusiasm then Chris's discovery that he'd overlooked the Bad Obsession Motorsport chan

In this episode, Chris and Marty go back to the early 2000s for the first part of our Fast and Furious retrospective series. Chris looks at where it all began with The Fast and the Furious, while Marty says rude things about the sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious. In other news, it doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning. We follow up on the new documentary featuring Sir Stirling Moss on the development of the disc brake called The Racers That Stopped the World . It's now available on demand and on Sky Documentaries . We also follow up on a previous video from B is for Build with Donut Media looking at why Eleanor is so litigious and others are not . In the news, a new series from Ewan MacGregor and Charlie Boorman called Long Way Up is coming to Apple TV+, and also new to Sky F1 and Sky Documentaries is Race to Perfection . Chris has seen the first episode and gives his thoughts. With Fast 9 on the horizon, Chris and Marty decided to go through the entire Fast and Furious universe. Chris took the origin in The Fast and the Furious , and Marty didn't . Yeah, we're doing Fast and the Furious, you gonna get in our face about it? A huge help to us was Craig Lieberman's YouTube channel . Check it out for a lot of behind the scenes info on the cars of F&F! In this episode's 'What has Henry Catchpole been up to this week?', he's been playing Bond, James Bond, in the Aston Martin Goldfinger DB5 continuation . I think that's what it's called. Hey Aston Martin, fancy sending us some press releases? In this episode, Chris and Marty review two very different documentaries about two very famous names: DeLorean and Ferrari. Chris looks at Framing John DeLorean while Marty goes back to the 1950s (without the aid of Doc Brown's DeLorean, sadly) to watch Ferrari: Race to Immortality. Al Clark has announced a new documentary featuring Sir Stirling Moss on the development of the disc brake called The Racers That Stopped the World . It's more interesting than it sounds, we promise! Having filmed it with Jaguar while Sir Stirling was alive, Al Clark recently recut it and it is now seeing a release on demand and Sky Documentaries . Back to the Future is to get a 35th Anniversary, 4K Blu Ray release, with a replica hoverboard and snippets of new footage ! To compare two legends, Chris watched Framing John DeLorean , with reference to Alex Goy 's Carfection documentary DeLorean: The Man, The Car, The People (and thank you to Alex for your input too!) while Marty reviews Ferrari: Race to Immortality . In this episode's 'What has Henry Catchpole been up to this week?' is the Honda E ! Chris kept up the Back to the Future theme with Doc Brown’s DeLorean - Jay Leno's Garage , and completely cheated by going for a non-car channel pick. The inimitable Hot Ones on First We Feast , where guests are asked excellent questions while slowly being incapacitated by hot sauce. Marty relived the glory days of sports car racing with an Aston Martin DBR9 GT1 racer while his channel pick was Driver61 . If you want to tell us if we’re right, wr

Chris and Marty pick through a lockdown list from film critic, journalist and flappy-handed inspiration for this podcast, Mark Kermode , to review two bona fide movie classics: American Graffiti and Bullitt. The 30th anniversary of Days of Thunder led ESPN to look back on the legacy that changed both action movies and NASCAR . We were also tipped off to a thread on Twitter with some fantastic behind the scenes details. Having been a Channel 4 exclusive, the Formula E documentary And We Go Green has been released to YouTube, which Marty rates more highly than he does electric cars... Chris picked the 'stop doing silly space films' George Lucas teen drama American Graffiti , while Marty relived memories of Ford Puma adverts with Bullitt . Now lockdown is easing and people are going back to work, we can celebrate the return of 'What has Henry Catchpole been up to this week?' , in this case road and track testing the new Porsche 992 Turbo S . For Chris's YouTube pick this week, a $4500 'Veyron' that is, well, awful. Not awful though is the Mercedes F1 YouTube channel that - while maybe a little corporate - is jam-packed with information from the team about their people and their preparations for the new season. Marty has gone for WRC Flatout 2019 , and if you like astonishing, real world builds then check out his YouTube channel pick, Speed Academy . Chris and Marty are off to Le Sarthe in June as they review two Le Mans documentaries, Journey to Le Mans and Truth in 24. In other news, we discuss the virtual Le Mans 24H and invite a special guest onto the show to review Ferrari's Le Grand Rendez-Vous film. First up though, Chris and Marty are joined by Matt Lange to discuss Ferrari's new film Le Grand Rendez-Vous , filmed in a deserted Monaco. There are also official behind the scenes Ferrari articles and video to see what went into the making. Matt mentioned some of the great historical Ferrari promo films. including Michael Mann's California film , and the 599 vs an F40 . While we wait for the real thing later in the year, Marty enjoyed the ACO's Virtual 24h of Le Mans . To relive those Le Mans memories, Chris chose Journey to Le Mans with the Jota team, and Marty pulls out what he calls "Possibly the best car film of any genre" Truth in 24 . For our YouTube picks, Chris kept up the Le Mans theme with the somewhat more technically Focus-sed Ford GT: The Return to Le Mans and cheated for his channel recommendation, instead taking a listener suggestion for Inside Line: A Season with Erebus Motorsport playlist from the great Australian V8 Supercars. Marty went with the brilliantly left-field “ The Bavarian Ranchhand” E39 M5 chase car , while highlighting the brilliant Sky F1 channel who have been keeping up with the content during a period of no racing. In a DriveTribe live stream (now sadly deleted) Jeremy Clarkson and Andy Wilman discussed how the international quarantine had caused them to postpone an adventure in Russia, but what has remained is an examination of the - ahem - wide variety of awards Top Gear had won, and quickly removed by Andy ... Empire ranked every F&F film, wrongly. As well as doing Intermission by Automovie Podcast episodes, Chris was recently invited onto the Whiskycast Happy Hour webcast! One for folks who like to pair whisky with their movies. In this episode Chris is enduring Stephen King's directorial debut Maximum Overdrive , while Martin discusses Steven Spielberg's (TV) movie directorial debut Duel . For our online picks, Chris chose the second part of a walk around Bruce Canepa's facility, focussing on his workshop and 959 reimagining , while also recommending the Zero EV channel as they try to create a 100hp Twizy . Marty revisited Henry Catchpole's <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkAT82-R0S8" rel="noopener noreferrer" ta

Elsewhere, they discuss the a proper barn find and revisit one of the worst racing films ever. In the last episode we discussed a movie list from Mark Kermode but we mixed up our 'Crash'es. As an act of penance, please go and check out the Secrets of Cinema series on iPlayer. There is a great, if short, story of the 'Thorndyke Special' from The Love Bug as actually discovered in a barn! Marshall Pruett has done a deep, deep dive into Driven . Stunningly, worrying detailed. In this episode Marty has gone in depth with A Life of Speed: The Juan Manuel Fangio Story , while Chris watched Uppity: The Willy T. Ribbs Story For our online picks, Chris got in first choosing Ratarossa's Abandoned Ferrari F40 Treasure Hunt , while also recommending Jonny Smith's CarPervert channel, congrats on 100k subscribers! Marty chose Hard Cell episode 1 which is currently free to watch, though not on YouTube. What is on YouTube though is the VHS Rallies channel for some nostalgic fun. New on Motortrend is Hard Cell with Tom Ford, looking at all things EV. A free trial of MotorTrend TV is available. For this episode we're looking at kids movies, with Martin talking all things Cars , while Chris revisits his very early youth watching The Love Bug . For our online picks, Martin went with WEC 6 Hours of Silverstone 2015 - the 40-minute battle for the lead between the evil diesel Audi R18 and the righteous Porsche 919. There's a slightly pirate-y link , and an official highlights package on YouTube . Martin recommends the Hillclimb Monsters Youtube channel as one to watch. Chris has gone for Mclaren Tooned series 2 , 50th anniversary. In this episode Marty and Chris compare two films where one inspired the other; The Gumball Rally (1976) and Gumball 3000: The Movie . But first, we celebrate the Oscar success of Ford vs Ferrari , with insight into the VFX process and the difference between sound editing and mixing . Motorsport.tv have released Heroes , Chris gives his opinion both on the network and Heroes. An Eleanor hero car from Gone in 60 Seconds has been sold and already listed for sale . In researching this, Chris turned up some interesting history on Tina , the '996' Porsche that's stolen at the start of the film. In the run up to No Time to Die a stunt car DB5 replica has been driven by some outlets, with a good writeup on Pistonheads . This reminded Marty of an old video of The Mercedes C63 AMG Experiment - /CHRIS HARRIS ON CARS . Season 2 of Drive to Survive is being released on Netflix Feb 28th! For this episode Marty revisits 1970's New York with The Gumball Rally (1976) while Chris goes San Francisco to Miami with Gumball 3000: The Movie . In this week's online highlights, Marty picked a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Os_dhGmW2M" rel="noopener

In this episode Marty and Chris change things up a little and have a lengthy discussion where they argue for and against Gone in 60 Seconds (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0187078/), as well as rounding up the upcoming releases and Super Bowl car adverts. But first, one of our listeners put together a great YouTube playlist (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLV0bDGUCMljRjqOyRE60HaHzvHksboec) of all of the videos and trailers that we've talked about in previous episodes. Our thanks to you, Sean! Road & Track (https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/entertainment/amp30563313/ferris-buellers-day-off-ferrari-auction/) have details of a Ferris Bueller hero car Ferrari replica going across the auction block. The team at Driftworks (https://www.driftworks.com) behind Outsiders (https://www.facebook.com/OutsidersMovie/) have started teasing the release of the sequel Outsiders 2, while the second season of Drive to Survive is due Feb 28th! For the Superbowl Porsche dropped The Heist (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92sXWVxRr0g), with Behind the Scenes from Motortrend (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIqbHadXLnk). Walmart didn't have a car themed advert as good as their movie car advert (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMcBBHpzKiI) from last year, but Hyundai was a surprise treat with Smaht Pahk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85iRQdjCzj0). And because the Superbowl landed on Groundhog Day this year, Jeep got Bill Murray and co-stars for a repeating adventure (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QgBRvMmWk4). Finally, and most excitingly, we have a trailer for Fast 9 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSiDu3Ywi8E), the latest in the increasingly insane Fast & Furious franchise. It's no surprise to say that we're fully on board with this trailer, but there are some surprises in there... For this episode we've changed things up a little with Chris and Marty talking through a long-running disagreement over just how awesome Gone in 60 Seconds (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0187078/) is. And Chris writes the show notes, so he says it's awesome. In this week's online highlights, Marty picked another from Harry’s Garage, Ferrari Testarossa Epic Roadtrip to the Sahara (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRjGN--R4pE) while Chris has been avoiding the joys of concrete and construction (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULWOvVEeq0w) to instead enjoy a beautifully made BMW M3 CSL manual conversion. In this episode, sights are set away from Hollywood as Chris and Martin approach films not in the English language. For Martin the classic French car movie Taxi, while Chris dives into the world of Initial-D. But first, Ford vs Ferrari is in the news yet again with BAFTA nominations for cinematography, editing and sound AND OSCAR NOMS OMG for Best Pic, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing! F1 TV have released a new documentary series, F2: Chasing the Dream, a multi-part documentary series looking into the world of up and coming drivers in F2 (subscription only, sadly). The original Bullitt Mustang, as driven by Steve McQueen has sold at auction for $3.4m. For this episode's reviews, we watch a pair of non-English films. Martin revisits the French film Taxi (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0152930/) while Chris shuns the live action version of Initial-D to go with Initial-D 1st Stage from the original Anime. In this week's online highlights, Martin picked the fantastic Harry’s Garage Porsche Carrera GT film while Chris has been so deep into all things Japanese for this episode, he had to pick this documentary from Driftworks: Outsiders . In this episode, roaring fires are lit and sherry glasses filled as Chris and Martin take an end of term look at films containing their favourite movie cars - Back to the Future and Ferris Bueller's Day Off - and give their top five lists of 2019's best online videos. But first, Ford vs Ferrari (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1950186/) is in the news again with Christian Bale's Golden Globes nomination for best actor, and Simon Brew talks Ford vs Ferrari in the brilliant Film Stories podcast (https://www.filmstories.co.uk/podcast/podcast-scrooged-1988-and-le-mans-66-2019/).. As this is a time for giving, we have no hesitation in asking our great listeners that, if you can spare a few pounds this Christmas, to consider donating to the great organisation Mission Motorsport (https://www.missionmotorsport.org). They are the Forces' motorsport charity, and we've both seen first-hand the amazing work they do to help service veterans recover from mental and physical injury and help them into work. They make a huge difference to the people who need it most, so please consider giving. As an end of term treat, we decided to look at cars we love in films that are otherwise not car films. Chris chose the DeLorean from Back to the Future (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088763/), and would highly recommend Alex Goy's great Carfection documentary DeLorean: The Man, The Car, The People (DeLorean: The Man, The Car, The People). Martin meanwhile went with the Ferrari 250 GT California from Ferris Bueller's Day Off (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091042/). For the top five online releases of the year, Martin went with: * James May’s Unpimp My Ride - Ferrari 308 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUQZ5msy0YQ) * This crazy trick could get you out of any speeding ticket (Alex Roy on VINWiki) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXJY06QYGjo) * MotorTrend Head2Head - Ferrari 812 Superfast vs. Dodge Hellcat Redeye (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rn3AnPYm_Zg) * Tavarish driving his restored Fast & Furious Murcielago (all the feels) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoD6aC-hiLY) * There's no number five, as Chris had already pinched it. Chris's top five online releases of the year list is: * F1 Paddock Pass (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sd0HuQs_KRQ&list=PLfoNZDHitwjXYZSg3NfDuM4L0jyxL8v5l) * Red Bull Racing's zero G pit stop (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQXGbep6S2c) (with special bonus Will Buxton Haas puns (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ou-5xSMsd6o)) * McLaren Senna: A Tribute To Ayrton's Greatest Lap (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPgS8lOTnz0) * Everything Wrong With Gone In 60 Seconds (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o96XlXNREXE) * Inside Chris Harris’ Dream Garage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiLImHQbjis) If you want to tell us if we’re right, wrong or to share something we should be looking at, get in touch via the following channels: Twitter: @AutomoviePod (https://twitter.com/automoviepod) Facebook: AutomoviePodcast (https://fb.me/AutomoviePodcast) Email: com

In this episode, Chris and Martin watch Ronin and The French Connection, two seminal films that have previously passed them by. There is also a spoiler-free review of Ford vs Ferrari (or Le Mans '66), and a discussion of the new Bond trailer. But first Ford vs Ferrari (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1950186/) a spoiler-free review, with references to The 24 Hour War (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4875844/). The new Grand Tour presents: Seamen (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8AwizkBarM) trailer has been released, with the show hitting Amazon Prime on December 13th. We also had - at the time of recording - the teaser trailer for No Time To Die (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrp0wJsXNEA) and it's fair to say Marty has thoughts. (The full trailer has since been released and can be seen here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og2vYP7VzUs). We like the old Vantage in it.) For this episode's reviews, we watch a couple of those 'I can't believe you've never seen' films. Chris sits down with Ronin (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0122690/) while Martin dives into the William Friedkin classic The French Connection (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067116/). 'What has Henry Catchpole Done This Week?' is gaining momentum with the great Audi RS6 US Roadtrip (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drkALluou3I) film. In this week's online highlights, Martin picked the fantastic Brundles Race the Nordschleife (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlN7QNnYr_4) while Chris has been so deep into GT40s, he had to pick this video from Kenny Brack in the wet at Goodwood (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jF__B1xpJY). In this episode, Chris and Martin revel in the world of NASCAR with Days of Thunder and Talladega Nights. They also catch up with Michael Fassbender's Porsche progress, and Marty gets his Land Speed Record geek on with Bloodhound LSR doing its first fast runs. But first Michael Fassbender's Road to Le Mans with Porsche (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKduzfEGbn-GvYvsyTO-EO27c4FBi3UAs) continues, reminding Chris of Misha Charoudin's vlogs racing at the Nurburgring (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLy5V0TOg_Q7moKaXAg_b86GdPcrQxXDNt). For this episode's reviews, we go bootleggin’ moonshine and drinkin’ Budweiser - it’s a NASCAR special! Marty revisits Days of Thunder (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099371/) while Chris finally watches Talladega Nights (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0415306/). In this week's online highlights, both guys cheat with multiple suggestions! While 'What has Henry Catchpole Done This Week?' isn't yet a feature, Marty liked Carfection: Alpine A110S: Road And Track Review (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLVZ-SFgrys) but his Land Speed Record fandom meant it would be Bloodhound LSR hits 501mph (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yq_gevX9tI). This time Chris stayed on topic, not picking Nick Offerman's great NASCAR commercial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaaz5a3DlNY), but rather a mesmerising breakdown of a NASCAR pitstop with Sport Science part 1 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQQbEfr9irE) and part 2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHnrtNAWx6g). In this episode, Chris and Martin discuss two famous racing names from the world of F1 with 2017's pair of documentaries 'McLaren' and 'Williams'. There's also a bonus review of the upcoming documentary 'Apex: The Secret Race Across America', some love for the much-missed Best Motoring magazine and Martin laughs at Christian Bale's Brummie accent in the 'Ford vs. Ferrari' film trailer. In this episode of the Automotive Podcast we talk about our favourite car chase musicals, featuring Baby Driver and The Blues Brothers. We also give our (spoiler-free!) thoughts on the first season of Netflix's Hyperdrive, and we can't work out how to pronounce C'était un rendez-vous. But first Chris and Marty discuss the finale of Netflix's Hyperdrive (https://www.netflix.com/title/80189648) and how there are Behind the Scenes videos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6ZHDN45TEg) coming out now on YouTube from the competitors. Following on from our BMW Film Festival, we are told about a Mercedes Choose Your Own Adventure (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZLCDVpMpCg) advertising campaign during the X-Factor, and The Road Rat magazine (https://theroadrat.com) publishes a Richard Porter (https://twitter.com/sniffpetrol/status/1173572917512298497) piece where he watches all the Fast & Furious films in one sitting. Our type of man! For the release of Ford vs Ferrari (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1950186/) (never Le Mans 66 in our parish!), reviews from the Toronto International Film Festival are in. First thoughts seem average, but we're still looking forward to it! For this episode Martin discusses Baby Driver (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3890160/) while Chris revels in The Blues Brothers (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080455/). And for this week's highlights, Martin’s been watching the Goodwood Revival 2019 AC Cobra battle in the RAC TT Celebration Trophy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekVQX6tMy78) with tweed, flat caps, glorious Goodwood, Spitfires, the Hun, beer with bits in it, Stirling Moss GOODWOOD. Meanwhile Chris has been continuing obsession with historically viral videos, this time with Alex Roy analyising C'était un rendez-vous (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmdR6B1DPac). For this episode Martin and Chris discuss the BMW USA series The Hire (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rClhr6HKeU&list=PL49A1B22886A6A215). Chris also brings up the very NSFW Kevin Smith short, the Flying Car (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXYjqLLQ5KA); you have been warned! In our "what we've been watching online" segment for this week, Martin was going to suggest BMW M3 GTR ‘Ring lap with Hans-Joachim Stuck (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FstXpvGzxZI) (or with commentary here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkQmXueWIio)), but instead went for the Bugatti Chiron hits 300mph (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkiyAZ63RT8) because 300mph! Chris meanwhile has been going for one of the original viral car videos, from a time when sharing videos meant trading VHS tapes. Check out the classic Ruf Faszination (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSMCfPASImQ).
