Amazing Spider-Man 1 – Vol. 7 / Tariff Exempt (for now)
This week we're talking tariffs and what a price increases means for us, and what they might mean for creators, before immediately contradicting ourselves and talking about how much money Skybound already made on the massive Transformers Kickstarter project. For first issues, we're of course covering the new jumping on point for one the most iconic titles out there — Amazing Spider-Man!! Then we've got some minis and one-offs with Fire and Ice: When Hell Freezes Over #1 out of 6 on DC, and Dani's entry into the series of GI Joe 21 homages (better known as 'the silent issue') with GI Joe A Real American Hero: JINX - Silent missions #1. We play a little bit of catch up on first issues past and talk Dark Pyramid, and Vargas reads each of the first issues of the Joe Hills old DC Black Label Imprint - Hill House!

This week were talking con prep for our upcoming weekend at Planet Comicon with Boulevard Brewing Co! New beers, new games, and new giveaways to be had. SCOUT WEEK! WEEK 2! First up, Murder Hobo is based on the role-playing archetype of a player character known by the same term. (Think your friend who plays Dungeons & Dragons with no story or motivation, outside of killing, looting, & chaos.) Next, It Eats What Feeds It follows a young man who's car breaks down while replying to a help wanted ad at a scary dilapidated mansion. This sparse horror-trope filled romp feels colossally nuanced after reading Murder Hobo!

This week, Budget King and Greg are joined by Writer/Educator/Futurist Mark Sable to talk about his new book Godkillers and what inspired him to write it. Mark is a professional writer and writing professor. He’s written such characters as SPIDER-MAN (What If?) for Marvel Comics and BATMAN for DC (Two-Face: Year One). His passion however is his creator-owned work, including GRAVEYARD OF EMPIRES (with Paul Azaceta and Matthew Wilson), GROUNDED (With Paul Azaceta and Nick Filardi) , FEARLESS (with David Roth, PJ Holden and Nick Filardi) and UNTHINKABLE for Boom! Studios. Two new graphic novels, THE DARK (with Kristian Donaldson and Lee Loughridge) and DRACULA: SON OF THE DRAGON (with Salgood Sam) were published by Comixology Originals in the Fall of 2019, Mark also consults as a futurist. Then, Hawkeye enters the Oldmanosphere with "Oldman Hawkeye". And, an original Avenger named Voyager returns in "Avengers: No Surrender". One problem, Voyager has never been a Marvel character till being introduced in this comic.
