Welcome back to another episode of Chronicles of a Virgo Podcast. This week we will continue our awareness conversation around Sexual Assault. Today on the podcast, I am joined by my mother Lisa Griffin. She will be speaking from a parents perspective of missing the signs that I was being abused in our home and how it affected our family. In this episode, the main points that are covered in this discussion are: - The feelings and thoughts she had when she found out that I was being abused - How the situation affected our family and her parenting style - Her healing journey and dealing with guilt as a parent - Things that she would of done differently during that time - Advice and prevention suggestions for others The intended purpose of this conversation was to raise awareness on the topic of Sexual Assault, but to also show the importance of these things needing to be addressed more and to forbid the cardinal household rule "What happens in this house, stays in this house." It is my hope that no one has to suffer in silence or face public scrutiny from others due to speaking out on their abuse, but as a community we can come together to hold those predators accountable for their actions and to protect and believe survivors. This week on the podcast, I was joined by the lovely host and CEO of "Watch us Thrive Podcast" Lianne Torres. This conversation was raw but filled with many gems on how one can "Reclaim your Voice to Fulfill your Purpose." Lianne, has been on her personal development journey since early 2021. After escaping a physically & emotionally abusive relationship, she realized that she was attracting the same type of toxic partner over and over again. She realized she was the common denominator in those relationships and knew it was time for a hard reset in order to begin healing her deep-rooted wounds. In the process of her journey to healing, Lianne started her podcast, Watch Us Thrive, to share the life stories of what she’s gone through. It has since become a beautiful platform where guests share their own life experiences of turning their pain into power and trauma into triumph. In this episode of "Reclaiming your Voice to Fulfill your Purpose," the main points that are covered in this discussion are: - Defining times in life where we felt voiceless and how we were able to overcome those moments - Finding strength to heal from things that have left us feeling powerless - Lianne speaks about being a Domestic Violence survivor and how this has helped her reclaim her voice and step into her purpose. - Advice for someone listening that maybe on their own journey of reclaiming their voice or finding their purpose The goal of this episode is to help encourage and promote self-healing to others as well as encourage others to take back their power and step into the better version of themselves that is no longer hiding behind the darkness of their pain or trauma! Welcome back to another wonderful episode of "Candid conversation with friends." This month guests were Jessica, Jeanelle and Shermonica who are all no strangers to "Chronicles of a Virgo podcast." In this episode, we discussed the overall importance of healing and self-discovery, personal experiences from our own healing journeys, and maintaining the proper mindset vs having a "fake it till you make it mindset" while healing. We were also able to give our own insight and thoughts on the overturing of Roe vs Wade and so much more! Our goal for this conversation, was to continue raising positive awareness about mental health in the black community and to shed light on the importance of being consistent in your own healing journey. Please tap into this episode and get your cup filled with some love and motivation. This week, I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with certified life and chronic pain coach Ms. Serita Valmond. In this episode, we discussed Serita's healing journey after being diagnosed with chronic pain after being hit by a drunk driver. After being told by numerous doctors that there was nothing else that could be done for her treatment and tons of medication, Serita decided to take her healing into her own hands and learn ways to approach her health and pain management. Serita continues to work proactively to live a healthy lifestyle all while helping others to regain their own personal power over their lives to heal. As an advocate for men and women of the black community and POC, Serita strives on helping her clients and others to learn healthy holistic alternatives to their healing as well as support her clients through stress management, nutrition, mindfulness and so much more! If you are someone that is battling the constant stressors of living with chronic illness or pain, then this episode is for you! Connect with Serita! In this episode, I had the opportunity to sit down and speak with Zion and Storm from "The All Over Podcast" as we discussed the aftermath and culture since the horrific mass shooting on May 14, 2022 in Buffalo, New York at the local Tops market. Zion and Storm both currently live in the neighborhood where this racially targeted tragedy took place. Zion and Storm was able to discuss the current culture of their neighborhood and how many others have been affected and ways other people can help their community. On May 14, 2022, a armed 18 year old entered the Tops market in Buffalo, New York on Jefferson Ave and opened gunfire killing 10 individuals and injuring 3 others. The shooter targeted this Black community and streamed the encounter online in which has been taken down. This incident has been labeled as a "hate crime" and "an act of racially motivated violent extremism" by the Department of Justice. Please continue to keep the community, victims and families of the eastside of Buffalo New York as well as Uvalde Texas in your prayers and please lets continue to raise awareness for the voiceless and those in these communities that are in need of help and resources. In life, we have all faced situations and heartbreaks that have left us feeling stuck and even filled with rage. We did everything just to get by and in the meantime held so much resentment and anger towards others and even ourselves. We neglect ourselves and allow the inner critic in us to hold a place of negativity and hurt for others that soon diminish the hope for future positive relationships and even growth within ourselves. In this episode, I am joined by the beautiful Shaylah Monique the host of “The Honesty Hour podcast" as we dive deep into getting out of our own ways and learning the true meaning of forgiveness. Remember, forgiveness is supposed to be for you and not other people! Tap into this episode as we walk you on a embracing journey of cultivating and elevating through forgiving. It is not always easy recovering after experiencing traumatic situations in our lives. Many of us allow the preprogramming of our childhood and our environments to dictate our lives, but in some cases, we are forced into properly dealing with the issues that are in front of us. As we embark on our healing journeys, many times we lose sight of our main focus and in some cases we try to bring everyone around us on the journey. We are use to being the fixer and problem solver for others, that when we are supposed to be focusing on our on healing we are more concerned and consumed about the wellbeing of others. In this episode, I discuss the importance of "Releasing the baggage" from your life in order for you to fully elevate to another better and healed level.
