What a treat we have today on the The Best Dam Podcast . Mrs. Erma Mary Hall, resident of the Southern Nevada Veteran’s Home and amazing lady that has become a true hero to me. At age 93 years young, Miss Erma is currently serving on the Resident Board of Directors for the Veteran’s Home and has become quite an asset to the staff and residents there. She has led a full life of service to her country and family and as you listen, you will hear the fire in her voice as she talks about her children, her husband, her career, and her amazing life journey. Episode Highlights In today's episode we hear about: her great story of growing up in the Bronx of New York in the 30’s and as a teenager, being obsessed with movie stars. Learn how she and her girlfriend would strategize to be able to get the autographs of all the popular stars. Wait until you hear about Frank Sinatra. After she graduated from high school, she went into the military with her sister Lilly. She was in the first wave of recruits when the Army Air Corp was split into the modern-day air force. While serving her country in the Air Force, she was stationed at the Pentagon where she met her husband and began her family. She shares what a beautiful military wedding it was and listen to learn more about her very special wedding dress. They were married for over 60 years. Erma tells quite fun stories about her career experiences such as meeting a very famous General at the Pentagon. As well as telling us about her ability to see the world as she and her husband were stationed in places like Tokyo, Japan right after the war, in Ottawa, CN, Ramstein Germany, Munich, Germany, San Antonio, TX, and Colorado Springs, CO. He views his job as shepherding the flock at 5th and Avenue B in beautiful Boulder City, Nevada. He is an amazing family man that loves his profession, his congregation, his community, and his faith. We will get to hear more about some of his favorite things like reading, volunteering, and visiting with those in need. Pastor Adam shares an emotional “AHA” moment (he had me in tears) and what he has learned from some very private low points in his and his family’s lives. We also find out more of the details of the creation and development of the “at-home learning” program that his talented wife Jessica Stetson designed and implemented during the pandemic. She found solutions when others struggled to even know how to get started. We will also learn of their academic and daycare programs still happening today, and how we can help them meet some of their goals to be able to expand and assist even more children in our community.
