JetBlackXtreme and Kokugatsu reviews "The Testament of Sister New Devil", a supernatural action harem anime that is available to watch on Crunchyroll!

"The Testament of Sister New Devil" delivers an intriguing blend of fantasy and action, complete with a dash of romance that keeps viewers engaged. The anime introduces audiences to Basara Tojo, who unexpectedly finds himself in a household with two new stepsisters, Mio and Maria. As the story unfolds, Basara discovers that his new siblings are not what they seem; Mio is a demon princess, and Maria is her succubus protector. This premise brings a refreshing twist to the often overused "unexpected family" trope, providing a unique take on the supernatural genre. The series incorporates well-choreographed battle scenes and an engaging plot that explores themes of loyalty and personal growth, setting it apart with some originality.

However, "The Testament of Sister New Devil" struggles to break free from the shadow of its more popular counterpart, "High School DxD." Both series share similar elements, such as a high school setting, supernatural battles, and suggestive themes, but "High School DxD" manages to execute these tropes with greater finesse and depth. The character development in "High School DxD" is more robust, with Issei Hyoudou's journey providing a more compelling narrative arc. Additionally, the humor and camaraderie among the characters in "High School DxD" create a more vibrant and memorable viewing experience. While "The Testament of Sister New Devil" offers its own brand of excitement, it ultimately pales in comparison to the dynamic storytelling and rich character interplay found in "High School DxD."
