Chloe Klaus is a first-time children's book author and illustrator. She lives in Mont Clare, Pennsylvania, is a mental health professional in Pottstown, and is the Chair of the Board of Directors for the nonprofit environmental organization, Green Allies. Chloe first started writing " Treasure of the Reef " in 2017 while staying with family in Perth, Australia. Growing up, Christian’s sisters were both stellar students who went to elite colleges and medical school. Christian felt mediocre in comparison to them having been, at times, a more insecure student academically. Shortly after graduating college, Christian was inspired by the Toni Morison quote, “Write the book you would want to read.” After hearing the quote, Christian immediately thought of a book for mediocre students because that’s the book he would have killed for! We had a great visit on location with Sam from Erie St. Vinyl in Massillon, Ohio. Do you remember the feel of old record stores back in the 1970s? What will Elon Musk do with Twitter? Why did he buy it? Simply put, I don’t know. However, I am a fan of Elon Musk, and I am optimistic about the future of Twitter. It needed a reset. Musk has often stated that he wants to champion “free speech” on the platform. Elon has suggested he would reconsider Twitter’s approach to content moderation and permanent bans from the platform, all of which could impact the political landscape. At the same time, Musk has reassured advertisers that he doesn’t plan to turn the platform into a “free-for-all hellscape.” In my opinion, Elon also very rightly has mentioned his desire to rid the platform of bots. So much so, that he made the number of bots central to his argument to abandon the deal during this roller coaster ride of the last six months. The notion that Twitter may also expand the idea of paid subscriptions has also arisen. I, so far, have no issue with this overall concept. I already subscribe to Twitter Blue and feel this would certainly cut down on fake accounts and give a greater consumer voice to users. As to why Elon decided to buy Twitter, I can only guess. Unlike most of the speculation I have run across online, I do not feel there is anything regarding the technology or the concept of how Twitter works that is that intriguing to someone who lands rockets vertically. I do feel, the megaphone that Twitter wields, has enormous value. Tesla and SpaceX have no advertising budget. He now has a pick-line directly into the bloodstream of the marketplace. Twitter also has a celebrity aura around its brim. Along with being one of the most successful businessmen in the world, Elon Musk is now a pop-culture icon. Not to mention, in 2024 which is drawing ever so closer, he could be a dominate political force. Stay tuned.

Audio “rooms” or “spaces” were created on apps such as Clubhouse and this concept exploded in popularity. It seems we are now on the precipice of a new medium. Twitter has incorporated Twitter Spaces into its app, the Wisdom app recently celebrated a one-year anniversary, and Fireside has the feel of a production/broadcast app for audio and video. “Walking with Fay - My Mother’s Uncharted Path Into Dementia” by Carolyn Birrell Carolyn Birrell retired to Bonners Ferry, ID, in 2006, after living in Atlanta, GA, for 20 years where she worked for the American Cancer Society National Headquarters and then as a real estate agent and a new home builder. She began caring for her aging mother shortly after her move and started chronicling her journey. What began as a written collection of her mother’s difficult behaviors during dementia’s earliest stages quickly turned into a comprehensive book that she continued to update until the inevitable end of her mother’s disease. The Cleveland Browns are evidently standing behind the Deshaun Watson trade for the long haul. The Browns are not reconsidering the $230 million contract and do not want back the six draft picks they sent to the Houston Texans for Watson. The commentary in this podcast covers two facets. One, the banter on social media and sports talk radio has been very much misguided regarding the various allegations that were put forth against Watson. Also, what this trade has done to the brand that is the Cleveland Browns has largely not been covered. Although, the boos at the Browns’ pre-season game with the Jacksonville Jaguars may be a wakeup call for what may be coming throughout the season. Everybody wants a winning team and ultimately a Super Bowl. However, controversy aside, this deal does not guarantee anything. Was it worth the public relations risk? And the enormous money?

How important is it to zoom in on someone’s pain and suffering on live TV? Whether it is an accident or sports injury, the sensationalism of live TV is forgetting the human suffering that is playing out behind the images. The tragedy of Anne Heche, whose rescue from a fiery crash played out on live TV and has been recirculated on social media, is a perfect example. Her final moments have been reduced to social media fodder at the expense of her family and loved ones. This was a human being. We can do better.

It is true many journalists not only come from the same system, but from the same handful of schools. It is also true that campuses that were once places of exploring many new ideas, are now ideological closed clubs. There is more to consider, however. How do we, the public, take in information and process it? How has our viewing habits and the desire for ratings played a role in what news we are given? These are especially relevant questions considering that it seems everyone is now not only entitled to their own opinions, but their own facts as well.

Some time ago, many years ago actually, I crossed paths with Donna Cavanagh on Twitter. We were both part of the Twittersphere for blogging, humor, and related subject matter. We say “content” now by the way. This was circa 2011 and HumorOutcasts was in its early days. I started doing some writing for the site and most of my audio production at that time was in traditional media forms. Podcasting existed back then but was nowhere near the powerhouse it is today. I was one of the early adopters of podcasting as it was a natural fit for me. Post 2012, podcasting was ramping up as high-ranking politicians were giving interviews and major crime investigations were finding an audience on the medium. Twitter is built for authors and podcasters. Donna, being the consummate book marketing specialist that she is, was one of the publishers who first recognized the connection. This was a great opportunity for me. By the time 2016 rolled around, Donna and I were producing author interviews regularly. I have made some wonderful associations and friends working with the talented group of HO writers. Donna has now written and published a children’s book, “Ramo to the Rescue.” The book tells the story of a lifeguard through the lens of a child and is written in poetry style rhymes. The book was inspired by a chance meeting with a lifeguard which Donna describes during her own podcast interview. The United Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, made a surprise visit to Ukraine's capital and met President Volodymyr Zelensky. They were photographed together as they walked through Kyiv's streets sending a powerful and symbolic message to the western world. This meeting happened in the wake of continuing reports of atrocities committed against Ukrainian civilians, including women and children, by Russian forces. These recent events have put added pressure on the United States to more to help Ukraine. The United States has been very cautious not to get involved in a wider conflict. However, with widening reports of more atrocities and plans by Russia to escalate its war efforts, are we about to reach a tipping point whereby inaction is a greater risk to the possibility of the war expanding across the region? What we wanted to do with this episode is delve a bit into the wide reaction to this event and examine some of the societal norms that have affected public opinion. A former nurse, RaDonda Vaught, was convicted of gross neglect of an impaired adult and negligent homicide on March 25, 2022 after a three-day trial in Nashville, Tennessee. Vaught faced these charges in connection with the killing of Charlene Murphey, who died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in late December 2017 after being administered the incorrect drug. Medical errors are generally handled by professional licensing boards or civil courts. Criminal prosecutions like Vaught's case are very rare. This trial has been closely monitored by nurses and medical professionals across the U.S. because of a strong concern that this conviction could set a precedent for criminalizing medical mistakes.

The big news in sports this past week was that Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texan’s was traded to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for various top draft picks. This deal was also big news in the media and social media due to allegations of sexual misconduct by the player. For Deshaun Watson, the deal is worth a whopping $230 million. Criminal charges did not move forward in his cases. However, 22 civil lawsuits are still hanging over his head. Many of these allegations occurred under the pretense of Watson getting massage services. Apparently, warnings about Watson had been circulating in the Houston massage therapy community for a while. Many of these therapists had been sought out on Instagram. This podcast is a conversation with Billy Dees and Erika, who is an advocate for survivors. Twitter Spaces is an audio medium allowing for a configuration of hosts, speakers, and listeners. The Space was hosted Thursday January 6, 2022, at 2:00pm EST. Currently, the only way to take part in a Twitter Space is via the Twitter smartphone app. Therefore, the guests sound a bit “phoned-in” but otherwise acceptable. Our guest was Lenora Colarusso, who has been on the podcast numerous times. The first part of the episode covers Lenora and her journey of recovery and well-being. It is followed by snippets from a Question-and-Answer period that followed on the Space. Guests take part from all over the world, which is one of the great things about the Twitter Spaces format.

After the shot rang out, Father Thomas O’Toole stood on the altar with a .38 Special still smoking and his intended victim, Nicholas Rossi, was gone. Ari Meyer, Esquire, a 15-year veteran of the Public Defender’s Office, is assigned to represent Father O’Toole at trial for attempted homicide. The case becomes oddly personal to Meyer and puts his personal life into a downward spiral down along with his law practice. “Heartly Law?,” the sequel to “Heartly God?,” follows Ari Meyer as he attempts to convince a jury that a single isolated event should not outweigh an entire life dedicated to service and kindness for others.

Our guest on this episode is Sean Mulroney. As the youngest of 5 children, he was introduced to drugs and alcohol at the age of 6. By the age of 13 he was an addict. In high school, Sean was an athlete playing football and baseball but going by his appearance now, you'd never know it. After recovering from drug addiction, he replaced it with fast food. Combined with various medical issues his weight topped out at 687 pounds. However, he has currently lost 110 pounds and his ultimate goal is to be at 200.
