Ask Your Father asks the question: What does it mean to be a family? What does it mean to be a person in that family, even if you aren’t a human? The show allows us to explore concepts of human rights, the ownership of our labor, the limits we put on morality and the fight for personhood - all in the form of a sci-fi thriller. The first season is 9 episodes long and tells a complete story, but one with room to grow in unexpected directions in future seasons. Lem, a human, and Mikey, an A.I., are piloting the first ever faster than light speed ship when they find themselves twice as far as they meant to go, and without any fuel for a return flight. The two of them communicate with Earth using tiny faster-than-light-speed drives, which carry information for Mikey and questions for Lem from his kids. As they work together to solve the problem, they forge a friendship that could change the course of human history, all while trying to answer the question “how did this happen?” And more importantly… “Why?” For credits, transcripts, and more info, visit Gideon-Media.com Learn more about your ad choices. If you like SDITE, I think you'll like Give Me Away . This audio drama imagines: what if there was such a thing as consensual body snatchers, aliens that cohabit in the minds of willing humans. What does sharing a body look like? It incorporates the clammy shared-body fascination of Venom with the gentle comedy of All Of Me against the backdrop of a relatable contemporary social and political setting. I adore the concept of this show, and it's made by the team behind Steal The Stars, another fantastic sci-fi podcast! Support their new season at cthulhumystery.com/crowdfund ! It's gonna be so good! If you like SDITE, I think you'll like The Call of Cthullhu Mystery Program . In this queer spin on cosmic terror, not every unknown being is a monster, and humanity is as much a threat as the eldritch nightmares in the shadows. Their latest season, Night At Howling House, just finished, so it's a perfect time to jump in! This introduction takes you to the first part of the latest season! The transcript for it is here . Here's more info about Night At Howling House : The lazy days of summer are at an end and school is about to begin... but for five Arkham youths, reading, writing, and 'rithmetic is the least of their worries. They're spending the night in a notorious abandoned house and local legends say no one has ever lived to tell the tale. Of course, no sane schoolkid would dare to trespass in Howling House, but twelve-year-old Tenderfoot, Tommy "Woods" Northwood, his precocious kid sister Chelsea, and a forlorn little boy known only as "Dirt" don't have a choice. Roger Simmons, the neighborhood bully, and his protégé, Joey Davenport, have the leverage and pugilistic prowess to make a very convincing argument. Will they survive to see the sunrise, or is there something sinister waiting for them in that decrepit domicile? Re: Dracula is a bite-sized audio adaptation of the horror classic Dracula that's currently crowdfunding ! We're taking the famous horror tale, breaking it up chronologically (every entry of this epistolary novel has a date), and sending the story directly to your podcatcher as it happens. Every time something happens to the characters, Re: Dracula will publish an episode, in as close to real time as possible. If we are successfully funded, the first episode will drop May 3, and the final episode, November 7th. Some entries will be brief, and others will be long and intense. We intend to be a faithful, text-accurate adaptation, featuring a full cast to tug on your heartstrings and sound design to keep you on the edge of your seat. We'll have content warnings at the top of each episode, and while we aim to follow the text of the novel as much as possible, we will be removing unnecessary racist asides. But primarily, we'll be looking at the novel thorough a modern day lens - not changing the text, but approaching outdated sections with nuance. In Re: Dracula, we want to experiment with grounded readings of Dracula, the sort of intimate acting that audio drama so often excels at. The show will be released for free, but those who help us fund the project will get additional perks, including ad-free episodes, a full audiobook, digital downloads, and more! One of the deadliest creatures known to man, notable in part for their 100% fatality rate on hit podcast Someone Dies In This Elevator. Today we’re taking a closer look at them. [BEAT] But not that close. Elevators are remarkable contraptions intended for raising and lowering things to different floors or levels. But as you and both I know, they hunger for violence, lying in wait for unsuspecting passengers that soon will become their victims. Little is known about how these elevators hunt, save for the fact that no two seem to kill in the same way. Scientists speculate that this may be an intentional tactic to prevent their prey from forming defensive measures. Should you encounter an elevator in the wild, your best option is to remove yourself from the situation. Do not attempt to fight the elevator. Here we see an elevator in its natural habitat. A passenger approaches. Oh. Oh no. What are you doing? Get away from there. No, come on, don’t do that. I- I can’t watch this. Turn it off. Turn it off! Midnight Burger is a monthly audio drama about a diner at the end – and somehow the beginning – of the universe. It's a show I (Tal) simply adore. When Gloria took a waitressing job at Midnight Burger outside of Phoenix, she didn’t realize she was now an employee of a time-traveling, dimension-spanning diner. Every day Midnight Burger appears somewhere new in the cosmos along with it's staff: a galactic drifter, a rogue theoretical physicist, a sentient old-timey radio, and some guy named Caspar. No one knows who built Midnight Burger or how it works, but when it appears there's always someone around who could really use a cup of coffee. Today we're spotlighting What Wil Be Here? , a new sci-fi audio drama about living on doomed earth and building things anyway. This is episode 1, titled Go For Deploy. In What Will Be Here?, five friends send a rocket to space with a collection of recordings on it that document the world’s decline, the stories they want to tell, and their efforts in building this rocket to get their message to the stars. They wonder what their world will have become by the time their message is listened to. What will be left of a planet that has destroyed itself? What will be left of the people who lived there? What will become of their stories? What will be here? At its core, this show is about living and creating when things feel pointless. It's a story that came out of the pandemic, and the landscape in which this story was written and produced greatly influenced how it turned out. What Will Be Here? is set on earth 200 years in the future, where large-scale crises are fully normalized. But despite the bleak backdrop, this story is one of hope - of overcoming challenges, of making things that might be temporary, but also things that might be launched into space and continue on forever.
