In this episode, I'm joined by Erica Komisar, a psychoanalyst and parent guidance expert with over 30 years of experience, to discuss the critical importance of attachment in early childhood development. We explore why a parent's physical and emotional presence during the first three years is fundamental to a child's future mental health and resilience. Erica shares compelling neuroscience research showing how 85% of a child's right brain—responsible for emotional regulation and coping with adversity—is formed in these crucial early years. We'll walk you through: ✅ Why the primary attachment figure (usually the mother) is irreplaceable in establishing a child's sense of security ✅ How modern society's pressure on women to "do it all" is creating a mental health crisis in our children ✅ Why daycare and technology can't substitute for a parent's consistent emotional presence ✅ The problem with prioritizing career achievement over the sacred work of parenting ✅ How building community support can transform the isolation many mothers feel Whether you're struggling with guilt about returning to work, feeling pressured by society's expectations, or simply trying to understand what your child truly needs from you, this episode offers research-backed insights that might challenge conventional wisdom but could transform your approach to parenting. 🔔 Remember: This isn't about shaming parents who must work, but about recognizing the biological reality of attachment and finding creative solutions that prioritize our children's emotional wellbeing. Sometimes the most important career decision you'll make isn't which job to take—it's how present you can be during those crucial first three years.

You’re not alone—and you’re not failing. You're being invited to rediscover the beauty of complementarity and the quiet power of choosing each other again. ✨ Because lasting love isn’t found in perfection—it’s found in offering your strength, your softness, and your willingness to grow, together.

In this episode, we're tackling the trap of overanalyzing your emotions and why too much self-reflection can actually hold you back. While understanding your feelings is valuable, constantly dissecting them can keep you stuck in a cycle of doubt and hesitation instead of moving forward. I’ll cover: ✅ Why endless self-analysis can make problems feel bigger than they are ✅ The difference between healthy reflection and emotional overprocessing ✅ How overthinking can drain your confidence and decision-making ability ✅ Practical ways to shift from excessive introspection to productive action ✅ Why focusing outward—on purpose and relationships—creates real growth If you've ever felt paralyzed by your own thoughts, unsure whether you're making the "right" emotional choice, this episode will give you a fresh perspective. True self-awareness isn’t about analyzing every feeling—it’s about knowing when to let go and trust yourself. 🔗 Resource Mentioned: The Gottman Rapoport Intervention – a structured exercise designed to improve communication, strengthen emotional bonds, and help couples navigate challenges with deeper understanding. 🔔 And remember, clarity comes from action, not just reflection. In this episode, I explore the role of sacrifice in relationships, why work-life balance is harder than ever, and how our biological differences as men and women shape the way we navigate life. In this episode, I explore: ✅ Why women often prioritize children over their spouse—and how that impacts marriage ✅ The reality of burnout, adrenal fatigue, and why women need more grace ✅ The difference between equality and sameness in relationships ✅ Why men and women approach stress, work, and validation differently And yes, there's a new podcast name! Tune in as I unpack why I made the change, what it means for future episodes, and why embracing the messiness of growth is part of the journey.

In this episode, I’m unpacking why chasing after emotional validation can sometimes do more harm than good. While feeling understood is important, constantly seeking reassurance can keep you in a cycle of dependence rather than growth. I'll walk you through: ✅ Why relying too much on validation can weaken your sense of self ✅ The difference between healthy support and emotional crutches ✅ How to build confidence without needing constant affirmation ✅ Why internal stability matters more than external approval ✅ Practical steps to shift from seeking validation to self-trust Whether you're struggling with relationship insecurities, feeling unheard, or just relying too much on others to feel okay, this episode offers a perspective shift that could make all the difference. True confidence doesn’t come from getting endless reassurance—it comes from knowing you don’t always need it. 🔔 And as always, while independence is key, meaningful connections and the right support system can help you grow in ways you can't always do alone.

In this episode, I'm challenging our culture's obsession with emotional analysis that might actually be keeping you stuck. While understanding our feelings is important, I explain why constantly dwelling on emotions can transform what should be a passing breeze into a destructive storm. I'll walk you through: ✅ Why therapy and self-help books are valuable—but not always the complete answer ✅ How to recognize when you're trapped in an "endless loop of self-examination" ✅ The importance of managing emotions rather than just feeling them ✅ Why thinking less about yourself and more about others can be transformative ✅ Practical ways to get off the "hamster wheel" of anxiety and overthinking Whether you're struggling with relationship conflicts, perpetual problems with your partner, or just finding yourself stuck in your own head, this episode offers a perspective that might be exactly what you need to move forward. Sometimes the path to happiness isn't through more analysis—it's through action and shifting your focus. 🔔 Remember: While I encourage you to "get over yourself" in the kindest way possible, consistent therapy can be life-changing when you're truly stuck. Build that relationship with your therapist, be communicative about your needs, and create the consistency that leads to real change.

In this episode, we're diving deep into a perspective on marital intimacy that's often misunderstood or completely overlooked in our modern culture—sex as a sacred, spiritual connection between husband and wife. I'm challenging the transactional view of intimacy that has created so much tension and obligation in marriages today. What if the struggles around frequency, desire, and obligation aren't just problems—but invitations? Invitations to discover a more beautiful understanding of what sex was truly designed to be in marriage: the physical expression of your covenant bond. I'll walk you through: ✅ Why viewing sex as an obligation or "need" destroys the beauty of intimacy ✅ The biblical understanding of "two becoming one flesh" and what that really means ✅ How cultural misconceptions about sex have damaged our marriages without us realizing ✅ Why respect, not desire, is the true foundation of a healthy sexual relationship ✅ The practical ways to move from transactional thinking to seeing sex as an act of recommitment Your marriage isn't supposed to be a battlefield of competing needs—it's meant to be the sacred space where two equal partners continually choose to become one. In this episode, we’re diving deep into a framework that has stood the test of time—the 7 deadly sins—and how they show up in our marriages in ways we don’t even realize. We often think of marriage as a place of love and companionship, but the truth is, it’s also one of life’s greatest teachers of virtue. What if the arguments, resentment, and emotional distance in your relationship aren’t just problems—but opportunities? Opportunities to practice patience, humility, and kindness instead of pride, anger, and envy. I’ll walk you through: ✅ Why pride makes you fight to "win"—and why that’s ruining your relationship ✅ The hidden ways envy and greed can creep into your marriage (without you noticing) ✅ How anger starts as a flicker but can burn everything down if unchecked ✅ Why lust and emotional comparison are more dangerous than you think ✅ The simple mindset shifts that replace vice with virtue—and create a marriage that actually lasts Your marriage isn’t supposed to be perfect—but it is supposed to refine you. In this solo episode, I explore the nuances of male emotion, drawing on my personal experiences as well as the insights I've gleaned from my professional practice. I examine the biological and cultural factors that shape the male psyche, and why respecting each individual's unique emotional needs is crucial for fostering healthy, fulfilling relationships. As a psychotherapist who's spent over two decades working with male clients, I've witnessed firsthand the growing confusion and pressure that men face when it comes to emotional expression. In today's rapidly evolving social landscape, the expectations placed on men to be simultaneously stoic and sensitive have become increasingly complex and, at times, even contradictory. Get ready for an unflinching look at the challenges that men navigate, from the boardroom to the home front. Through empathy and understanding, we'll work to dismantle harmful stereotypes and empower men to proudly embrace the full spectrum of their feelings. After all, true strength lies not in the suppression of emotion, but in the courage to acknowledge it. In this episode I discuss how striving to maintain balance between your work and personal life at any given time is essentially impossible. Instead, you need to see these two entities as being in a constant flux, and you need to respect that our world is constantly changing. There will be times where you are required more in one area of your life than another. It becomes easier when you realize there is no such thing as good or bad, right or wrong. Nothing is so black and white regarding individual personalities, values, and beliefs. What always does work, however, is when you simplify the situation using a feeling state called ‘compassion’. If you incorporate compassion into the golden rule, everyone wins in business and in life. Not every conversation advocates for problem-solving or open displays of vulnerability. The only conversations that advocate for these behaviors are those in which change needs to happen. It is typical that in business, we have a problem-solving conversation—not one that calls for a lot of emotion or vulnerability. Why is that? Because we are focused on the end goal, we subsequently check our egos at the door into the boardroom. In business, we know we need to work as a team player or are kicked out of the tribe. A personal relationship can be vulnerable if we want to establish a deep connection. But most conversations that happen in the kitchen do not require a deep connection. You can plan those for date night. Most of the time, in our personal relationships, we just need to talk and work together to manage the mothership. We need to find the best solution for team WE, a.k.a. our family or our relationship. Unfortunately, team WE often gets kicked to the side in personal relationships and team I or ME sneaks in. What I want, what is best for ME, etc. Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. Alexander Harmsen is an experienced tech entrepreneur, CEO, board member, and advisor, having founded multiple successful companies and organizations. His work has seen him produce multiple AI-driven products, scale sales globally, hire world-class executives, manage hundreds of employees, raise over $30M in venture capital, and successfully navigate an M&A process. He is focused on hard problems that have a meaningful impact on the world, with 2 kids, and a wife who is equally as ambitious, running her own venture-backed pharma tech business. As I interviewed Alex, I saw many congruencies between running a good business and running a good relationship. If one person’s energy causes a cog in the wheel to break, the whole system can shut down. If one team member is not in sync with the rest of the team, the system will not work. Sometimes, the answer is not just to solve the problem as you would a math equation; it can be much more delicate than that. Alex has the same mindset as a skilled founder as he does as a partner and a dad. This conversation advocates for the willingness to be curious and take the time to answer the questions posed to you, whether it is from a team member, your child or your spouse. As a relationship therapist and coach, the topic of sex and the disagreements surrounding sex are not uncommonin my office. Mostly, the disagreement communicated to me is due to the lack of frequency from those who identify themselves as male in gender. As my guest, Elizabeth McGrath, a sex and relationship therapist and sexuality educator located in the Los Angeles area, explains so eloquently, sexuality and exploring one’s preferences, level of desire, and frequency widely varies across different individuals, as well as across the lifespan of the couples’ time together. Ms. McGrath works with individuals and couples, guiding them as they learn to value their own pleasure and overcome obstacles to satisfying sexual self-expression, resulting in exhilarating sex lives, embodied attachment and fulfilling relationships with themselves and others. In 2011, Elizabeth graduated with a master’s in social work and became a certified yoga instructor and somatic breath worker, which added a physical and breath-focused level to her work. In this solo episode, I discuss how the most successful business owners, executives and team players listen more than they speak. These folks do not have the need to be the centre of attention. Instead, they become curious and inquisitive when speaking to their business or intimate partner. They are more interested in you than in themselves and their prerogatives. This is, of course, true in personal relationships. John Gottman, a well-known psychologist specializing in interpersonal relationships, often examined how conflict was resolved during political discussions during times of war, hoping to help his clients work through marital relationships. Great leaders listen more than they speak to influence their speaking partner. That’s the secret sauce. In this episode, we explored many exciting and surprising points. However, they all circled back to one crucial theme: the importance of defining your purpose. This is the key to feeling fulfilled in your personal relationships and financial goals, and it's a journey that can inspire and motivate you. Andrew uses science and experience to validate his teachings in a way that is impossible to argue against. If you were to track the historical data over time, it would be all there—if you care to look at it. Doing so would provide you with great insight in to why you have found yourself in the state you are in right now. However, most people would rather ignore their spending habits and, possibly, their partners by going after instant gratification. This episode is for the person trying to find a sense of meaning and happiness in everyday life. In this episode, I uncover: The importance of having a sense of community while also spending more time in solitude. The need to connect with Source, albeit God or another higher power. Why is it never a means to an end but rather a journey that will feed the soul. How self-awareness is the first behavior you must strive towards in order to change. I also spend a fair bit of time discussing John and Julie Gottman’s latest book Fight Right: How Successful Couples Turn Conflict Into Connection, and the excellent job they did reminding couples that attuning and attending to their partner’s needs or ask, rather than planning their next comeback response in their heads, is the key to lasting relationships. I discovered Kim’s Podcast, The Wall Street Coach, after doing some of my work around money and money mindset. I invited Kim as a guest to explain to my listeners that it doesn’t matter what industry we work in, the lifestyle we follow, or what relationship we are in…everyone suffers from self-sabotage. Until we realize how disabusing this narrative can become, we will never reach that point of behavior change that we so strongly seek. Kim Curtin, the Wall Street Coach, helps traders & others end the cycle of self-sabotage. Kim wrote a book called Transforming Wall Street: A Conscious Path for a New Future. In the book, she lists five practices to heal and transform your life and work. What a great conversation we had today! Michelle is my kind of gal. She is all about taking responsibility, becoming empowered, and an advocate of both nutrition and talk therapy to heal our trauma – a true inspiration to all who listen to this episode. Michelle Reittinger is a mother, wife, daughter and also a woman who has healed what many would call an unhealable mental illness, that is unless psychotropic drugs are used. Michelle advocates a radical shift in the treatment of bipolar using a research-based, integrated treatment plan to facilitate healing. I do this through public speaking, a podcast called The Upside of Bipolar, a blog, and a program called The Upsiders' Tribe, where I teach the steps to heal bipolar. She also has a book coming out in early summer 2024, so stay tuned for that! Is it true that the formula to lose weight is less calories and more exercise? Do women have a more difficult time to lose weight than men? Does stress play a large role in weight loss? In general, do you feel our health is more compromised in North America than in Europe? Is prioritizing protein over any other macronutrient as crucial as we often hear? Does exercise directly improve our microbiome? In today’s episode, I asked Dr. Berry these questions to provide my listeners with guidance and insight into making proper food choices and how this relates to our metabolic health and mood. The episode confirms what you may already know, and that is, what happens after food passes our lips is not as simple a process as we might like to believe. Many factors contribute to our physical and mental health. Sarah Berry is a Reader in Nutritional Sciences at King’s College London and Chief Scientist at ZOE Ltd. The ugly concoction of guilt, shame and self-loathing is most often the underlying reason why you are struggling and in need of therapy. Ridding shame is not easy, but when you begin to love yourself more by honouring your core needs, it becomes easier. In this episode, I present three clients I have seen in therapy: Client one lost her job because she did not care enough for herself. Client two is slipping into burnout and depression because of taking on too much. Client three is a man committing multiple marital affairs because of low self-worth. I love interviewing women who can be described as ‘ a piece of work’, and Lynne Bowman is that woman. She is really a masterpiece. Now in her late 70s, I can tell that she has truly embraced life. When she was pregnant with her first child and told she was prediabetic, she made some lifestyle changes that proved to be highly transformative for her physical and mental health. Lynne has always valued self-care so as to care for others. Lynne, author of Amazon best-seller "Brownies for Breakfast," has been featured at women's expos throughout the country, teaming with actress Deidre Hall to write and publish "Deidre Hall's Kitchen Closeup" (2010) and Deidre Hall's "How Does She Do It?" In this episode, I discuss how living ‘The European Lifestyle’, or TEL, is the easiest approach to regain physical and emotional health. Why? Because, in general, Europeans are not so ‘rushed’ and, in doing so, become mindless. When mindlessness meets stress, the brain secretes stress hormone messages to the body, which spikes insulin. When insulin is secreted, glucose gets shuttled into the cell, and when there is an overabundance of glucose, it is stored as fat. When we lack connection, peace and happiness, we naturally are more prone to stress. Chronic stress and, consequently, chronic insulin spikes make us dumber and fatter. Chronic insulin also occurs by other means. Constant snacking and excessive carbohydrates in the form of simple sugars and processed foods, which lack fibre, also encourage high insulin spikes. Toxins in the form of pesticides and herbicides and the absence of nutrient-dense foods are other ways our metabolism gets hijacked. In summary, there is not just one factor that causes us to lose the battle of the bulge; there are many. Enjoy the show. Last spring, I hired a photographer for a photo shoot while vacationing in Europe. We became friends because of her welcoming and friendly nature. So, when I decided to do an episode on the connection to a Mediterranean lifestyle with better mental and physical health, I asked Anastasiia to describe the lifestyle. My hope in doing so is that you can put the puzzle pieces together to find peace and happiness as well. In summary, drop your need to compare and be ‘better’ than anyone else. Just BE yourself. Do what brings you joy each day and stick to it. Whether it is being more mindful about everything you do – including noticing the importance of being kind, or part of a community, or the quality of food you decide to ingest, or resting more and working less… bigger, better, stronger, faster doesn’t seem to be the answer to our well-being. I loved hearing my client reiterate her past five years of working with me and working on herself. Anne (not her real name) noticed how she often made excuses about why she felt stuck and what she was doing was lying to herself. Change is never easy and always exciting. I have a few clients whom I joke with and tell them, ‘It’s never a boring session with you.’ That is a true compliment because you know what? Change means new…and if your life is mediocre, you are not evolving, which entails making many mistakes. My job is simply to guide you towards embracing your individuality and reminding you that you are doing this for a reason. Today, I share my views on how I am choosing to live life. I describe why prediction is an illusion and because we constantly try to predict ‘what the right answer is’ whenever we struggle to make a choice, we are wasting many precious moments. The truth is that there are many possibilities of what may happen, and stagnancy rooted in fear is the only bad choice or decision to make. When you ‘do’ rather than ‘view’ life, you learn and grow and evolve. This is the fountain of youth. Inaction is the pathway to disease because it is defined as a lack of movement. Lack of movement means lifelessness. It is, thereby, in essence, hypoxia or death. Nowadays, everyone is looking for tips, tricks, tools, and workarounds to combat their ‘perceived’ weaknesses. That weakness could manifest in the form of psychosocial pain, physical pain, or emotional pain. The truth is, no one sees the world as you do; similarly, no one sees you as you do. So, what are we really comparing our pain to? We can only guess how we should be feeling by how we view our world at any given moment, or what we call our experiences. You are constantly changing with your environment. You are experiencing your life as it is reflected back to you – but only if you are open to it and present. Your mind can act as your best friend or your worst enemy. How do you make it your friend? You begin a meditation practice, starting with three minutes a day. Meet today’s guest, Richard Dixey, who will show us how to begin to meditate by starting with three minutes a day. Richard Dixey, PhD, is a scientist and lifelong student of Asian philosophy. I woke up one morning feeling happy, content, fulfilled, and at peace. This happens a lot. Not every day is a great day, but most days are. Why? Because I am nurturing my mind, body, and relationships every day. I try to practice a lot of self-awareness or mindfulness and learn what helps and hinders me. I change my thoughts, what some might call reframing, and life according to changes. And if I can’t find the answers within my self-reflections, I seek the answers elsewhere. Ignorance drives fear, and education is invaluable. You can’t learn what you unlearned any more than you can’t unsee what you have seen. In this episode, I get very raw and vulnerable. I cry (unexpectedly) because I am human, and I want to be human. Self-honesty is one of the keys to change; this podcast is all about change. I just had to get Elizabeth back on the show to bust more myths about weight gain, especially concerning aging. It all comes down to people making excuses or in other words, choosing REASONS over RESULTS. We can tell many stories about why you feel your body is different. You have unique tastes, preferences, and variances in DNA, but ultimately, that may account for 20% (at most) of the differences. So, where does the remaining 80% of your body composition stem from? Lifestyle choices, baby! Elizabeth Resnick is a 57-year-old double-certified health coach and author who helps women of all ages lose weight so they can love their bodies AND their lives. Happy Healthy and Hot is a unique blend of mindset, nutrition, and fitness that works. Women seek Elizabeth out to help them lose weight and end up gaining so much more: energy, confidence, and improved relationships. Elizabeth has been featured on TV and on numerous podcasts. In today’s solo episode, I do a fun take on all the things we should do if we want to sink the relation-SHIP. The best way to solve any disaster is prevention. Just like in health, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure; it is no different in relationships. In business, it is called reverse engineering. In medicine, it is called functional medicine. In psychology, it is called inversion thinking. So, I will coin my own phrase related to relationship woes; “A drop in expectations is worth an ocean of happiness.” You would be much better off incorporating more goodwill and giving your partner a lot of grace. Because folks, we are only human. I am so excited to have John Gray back for a second time on my podcast! In today’s episode, I ask Dr. Gray to define the terms masculine and feminine energy and the importance of balancing these energy types between couples. I further inquired about his views on why marriages are not being maintained and divorce rates continue to soar. We also discuss what couples should concentrate on to build and maintain a closer connection. John Gray is the author of the most well-known and trusted relationship book of all time, Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus. USA Today listed his book as one of the top 10 most influential books of the last quarter-century. In hardcover, it was the #1 bestselling book of the 1990s. Dr. Gray’s books are translated into approximately 45 languages in more than 100 countries and continues to be a bestseller. Dr. Gray has written over 20 books. His most recent book is Beyond Mars and Venus. His Mars/Venus book series has forever changed how men and women view their relationships. Conflict is inevitable in any relationship. In fact, if you don’t have conflict, I would question the integrity of the relationship. Conflict means passion and a zest for life. However, when couples experience conflict, they often feel they are failing or doing something wrong. In this episode, I dissect the most common areas of communication breakdown and the analogies of what it takes to create success in your business to bring in some good examples of strong communication and leadership skills, not to mention the amount of hard work, passion, and tenacity of creating a successful business or career. For example, if you were to negotiate an increase in salary with your boss, would you be looking down at your phone? No! Then why would you do that during a bid for connection with your partner? The many Cs necessary for nailing down communication include Curiosity, Collaboration, Connection, and Compromise. I also threw in compassion because we often need a good dose to rid ourselves of resentment and anger and help see another’s perspective. I had a great interview with Cassie Howard, a well-known intuitive business strategist and money mentor (Yes, please). In this podcast episode, you will get to know Cassie more on a personal level and not just another business coach. What attracted me the most to Cassie is that she believes in you as a client; that is, you can be, do, and have anything you want and need right now, and you can experience it in your own way. She strongly advocates for work ethic, staying power, taking big, bold moves, and long-game focus alongside her many teachings on money, sales, and social media. Cassie Howard is most known for her savvy sales skills and her ability to make business simple, fun, AND sustainable. Her approach to business and money has attracted women's attention worldwide in their own attempt to build the mind-blowing business of their dreams. What she teaches in her programs, masterclasses, and individual training is something that she embodies in her own company every day, a company that has generated over 8-figures cash in just a few short years. She enjoys breaking the rules and doing what others tell her she can't. Her unique way of doing business has changed the game in the coaching and mentoring space. Many of her clients have surpassed milestones and rapidly created shocking success. Cassie is a huge proponent of success on *your* terms. ALSO! For those who love matcha but haven’t found a brand that they have fallen in love with, Cassie also felt similarly years ago and therefore sourced and created her own product line of Matcha. Choosing your partner for life? Hello!! It can be arguably the most important decision of your lifetime. Who will be my lifelong partner? How do I know that for certain? Nothing is ever for certain in life – that is one thing I do know for certain!! But we can make decisions that will bring us greater clarity to make the best decision we can in the moment. That is all we can do. So, if I can understand a topic further, whether that is how to invest my money best or choose the best electric knife, I do that by seeking the information. This is why I created a mini course/program/offer for those couples who want to make this decision with as much clarity and confidence as possible. Today, I discuss what to do when you feel triggered in relationships. As children, we learn through patterning thoughts, leading to patterned outcomes. This makes us feel very comfortable because patterning leads to certainty. One plus one equals two. We know what to expect, so it removes any discomfort. As kids, we were also told to stop crying and were distracted in order to be happy, mainly because our parents wanted us to be happy so that they could be happy. Then life happens, and we realize that nothing is certain, and we need to be taught all over again to live with discomfort, change, and hurt feelings. Especially when it relates to relationships. Because there is one thing for certain in relationships, and that is we will get hurt. If you are in a relationship or seriously considering marriage…continue to read. Today, I am excited to inform you about the first of my brand-new offers for couples considering tying the knot. I will cover super-important information you can’t afford NOT to know… Click the link below to learn more: https://luellajonk.com/before-tying-the-knot-full-disclosure/ Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luella.jonk.7 https://linktr.ee/luellajonk

I began my dark night of the soul over 1.5 years ago when I decided to give meditation a real go. I started listening to guided meditations and then sat contemplating each morning. My morning spiritual practice has varied, but it all comes back to deep reflection and going deeper within me. I now help my clients do the same because of the tremendous joy and peace it has brought to me. In today’s episode, I speak with a like-minded soul who has also made her passion for helping others once she helped herself. Corin Grillo is a licensed psychotherapist, best-selling author, transformational retreat leader, and founder of the Angel Alchemy Academy, an intuitive healing institute with students that span the globe. A mind-blowing miracle from the angels saved her life, cured her of life-long depression, and awakened her spiritual gifts. She now teaches others worldwide how to awaken their spiritual gifts, and deepen their connection with their angels, ancestors, and other divine allies, to help them open up to their authentic spiritual power, heal, and discover their sacred mission. Despite everyone from Oprah, your Gramma, and your daughter’s kindergarten teacher claiming how we need to love ourselves more, it is very apparent in my practice that we as a society have a lot of work to do around this topic. Many still beat themselves up because they feel terrible for doing the wrong thing. The bottom line is that nothing will change unless you practice forgiveness for yourself and others. You will be caught up in anger and resentment for a long time. The key to a joyful and fulfilling life is to love yourself more, laugh at yourself more, and practice the skill of gratitude daily. Originally this was a live done on Facebook, but I felt it needed to become an episode so that everyone may feel less stressed in a world that often feels overwhelming – especially regarding personal development. Truth be told, self-growth and self-awareness develop through daily practice. What are you doing on a daily basis to grow, learn, and attain a higher sense of emotional intelligence? Little changes bring about big results. In the episode, I speak a lot about my favorite topics: Self-awareness being the catalyst to change and self-love being the backbone for change to occur, everyone needs to take more responsibility for their lives, and how your fears are really your excuses for why you don’t think you can change. I had the privilege to interview a past client, Noordeep Kaur, whom I worked with to uncouple from both a physically and emotionally abusive marriage and show up for herself, her daughter, and her lineage in a way that will have a rippling effect in her East Indian culture as a whole. We get deep into her transformational journey from self-doubt to self-empowerment. The journey never ends, but it gets to be a journey of self-love and acceptance of who you as at the core of your human evolution. In the end, love always prevails. Even for the abuser, we must treat them with compassion. It is a beautiful story. Enjoy the show. Today I share my experience and what I have seen with my clients regarding our belief systems, what it truly means to believe, questioning what it means to believe, and showing up in a way that speaks to our true conviction on a topic. I also dive into what it truly feels like to trust your gut instincts and intuition and how important it is to practice this skill. For example, we always play with fear and intuition but often do not even know that this is what we are doing. How difficult it is to be courageous at times and dance between fear and intuition. At the end of the episode, I review the topic of energetics and how difficult it is to balance between feminine and masculine energetics, in other words, how to create balance in our lives. Enjoy! In this episode, I get truthful about why some of us stay stuck in the ‘my life sucks’ loop. For anyone who knows me, I don’t like to sugarcoat things. In the episode, I described how this was sometimes very difficult for me to be ME as a registered psychotherapist. There is a time and place when you are meant to move on from therapy to coaching. In this episode, I try to explain when and what that looks like and for who. I believe in people’s intelligence and power and remind them of this constantly. I personally feel many people want to remain in therapy because they are addicted to hearing ‘How does that make you feel?’ and just waiting for the extra scoop of validation to top it off. It was a complete pleasure to interview this vibrant powerhouse, Kalee Boisvert! Kalee is stunning and wise, especially when it comes to having your money work for you – not against you. Her mission is to empower women to take control of their finances and to do it with micro-changes that, over time, make a huge difference in their financial security. She has been in the financial industry for over 15 years, but her love of money started very young. Growing up in a single-parent household, she watched her mom struggle with finances and wished she could do something to help. Kalee also realized that she needed to find a way to save and earn if she didn’t allow her circumstances to define her. And so, her journey into financial literacy and wealth management began. She chose to become a financial advisor to empower and support people to put an end to their money-related stress. To further her efforts supporting financial literacy, Kalee has two books being released in 2023 – a children’s picture book called MoneyWise Mabel’s Bursting Bank and a non-fiction book called Make Money Your Thing! I first met Dr. Claxton when I began my journey into functional medicine nearly 4 years ago. Beth is an MD, certified in OB/GYN. Beth grew to love functional medicine just as I have and has used it extensively in her practice to help women specifically with hormone imbalance as it relates to perimenopause, menopause, sleep disturbances, and constipation. Beth Claxton sees herself as a human on a journey. Her degree as a Medical Doctor and board certification as an OB/Gyn marked her path. Her curiosity led her to become a teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and an Ayurvedic Yoga Health Coach. Most recently Beth became certified in Functional Medicine which felt like completing the circle to her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry. She has two daughters who are beginning their paths to finding their own gifts to the world. Northern Arizona is where Beth currently calls home. Today I had the pleasure of spending an hour with Kathleen McLean, a family law lawyer with Evans Family Law Practice in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. In this discussion, we spoke about the Canadian court system in terms of what to expect when moving through a divorce, as well as many other topics, such as preventing high-conflict divorce, parent alienation, the possible misuse of protection orders, and much more. Most importantly, we spoke of how utilization of collaborative family law is most certainly the best way of entering what many consider one of the topmost stressful periods in anyone’s lifetime. When Felice and I get together, it is all about women’s hormones. In today’s episode, we start off discussing pheromones, which are our body's natural way of attracting our mates…who would have known? Later on, we discuss a safe dosage and use of melatonin for sleep, depression in women, CVD, low sex drive, thinning hair, and other symptoms of low estradiol commonly surfacing in women through the aging process. Get your sneakers on, and your air pods in, and take a stroll in nature or spring cleaning your space while you listen to this episode. You won’t be disappointed. Today we cover the importance of awareness surrounding food sensitivities, choices best for you, making food preparation fun, and having a supportive partner beside you to make this all possible. Shelise Irby graduated from U.C. Davis as a Registered Dietitian and provides functional nutrition consulting at Body Love Cafe. Her in-depth knowledge of whole food healing combined with her medically focused education provides her with a unique perspective on preventative health. She is passionate about health for the whole family and loves working with couples, moms, children, and teens. From a young age, Shelise suffered from many unidentified food and environmental allergies. She was eventually able to get the help she needed through supplements, herbs, dietary changes, and homeopathy. Experiencing firsthand the life-changing benefits of balancing her nutrition and learning what foods to avoid for maintaining her health, Shelise decided that method was something she wanted to help others learn as well. She has worked in private practice doing functional nutrition consulting, supporting dietary changes and detox in her patients, for more than 10 years. As you would expect from a dietitian, Shelise loves to cook and spends much of her time in the kitchen creating healthy meals and baking with gluten-free ingredients. This conversation is one that will bring many women a sense of ease and reassurance that life gets to be different. We don’t need to struggle through relationships, careers, families, and this idea of balance. Relationships and work get to be better, and it all starts with a deep sense of knowing and trust in ourselves. Trust in themselves and in the Devine. Like most women, Kim began leading her life mainly with her mind and not with her body. Using your intuition was a foreign topic to her as it is with most women starting off their lives. In this conversation we discuss how the pendulum of women’s movement and presence as a mother, wife, and earner has swung from little presence to too much presence, leaving most women to burnout and disassociated from what it means to be a woman. In today’s episode, I speak on the importance of building trust in a relationship. Trust needs to be well established at the beginning of the relationship. No one person should feel they need to become their own private investigator when it comes to spying on their partner, going through their phone chat conversations and surfing their web browser history. I explain how trust first begins with a conversation with yourself. How you ‘trust yourself’ to take yourself through these proactive conversations. A conversation that communicates your standards and values and how you establish your boundaries in alignment with these standards. Today we get to talk all about connection; connection with ourselves and connection to all life around us. This talk reminds us that we are all part of a greater meaning. However, we need to be open to it. When we open ourselves to possibility, synchronicity, and meaningful coincidences, we open our view of what it means to be human. Dr. Yvonne Smith Tarnas is a Jungian Analyst, who works with patients in deepening their connection with themselves and their lives. This process engages with the daily life, the dream life, and imaginal qualities held in the life including the dualities of both hope and dread. Yvonne’s aim as a licensed psychotherapist is to deepen one's connection not only with themselves but to that of their loved ones, their life, and with the Jungian sense of the "Self" within and without. Daniel Z. Lieberman, MD is a clinical professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at George Washington University. He is a sought-after speaker and shares his expertise on the neurobiological basis of human behavior as a frequent guest on radio, television, and podcasts. He is a TEDx speaker and appeared on CNN multiple times and on ABC news. Dr. Lieberman co-authored "The Molecule of More" - an international bestseller that’s been translated into 20 languages. In this book, Dr. Lieberman explains why does love change so quickly from passion to indifference? Why do we desire something so strongly only so that when we get it, we want something more? He is also the author of "Spellbound: Modern Science, Ancient Magic, and the Hidden Potential of the Unconscious Mind" which is a fascinating read. Your unconscious can make you compassionate or fill you with hatred. It chooses what you desire, your dreams, what triggers you, and who you will fall in love with. It can solve seemingly impossible problems with the gift of inspiration, and, sometimes, it possesses you completely, plunging you into an alien world of mystical experience. Enjoy the show! Culturally we are taught from a young age to find a partner who can take care of you well. This might refer to someone with a stable career, a good parent, someone who can perhaps cook, mend a sock, fix a faucet, goes to church, and doesn’t physically harm you. But what if it really doesn't have to do with any of those OBVIOUS qualities or characteristics? What if it was, instead, all the little things that make the difference in whether your relationship has sustenance? What if all the small things often are the glue that keeps the relationship held in place? What if? What if it was the fact that you both love to talk about advocating for a specific cause or the way they make you crack up with their stupid off-the-wall humor? What if it was the classy way she dresses or how he looks in a T-shirt and jeans, how she plays with the children, and how he plays hockey? What if? Today I interview Dr. Beitman, a psychiatrist turned researcher and author of Meaningful Coincidences: How and Why Synchronicity and Serendipity Happen. Today’s talk focused on how we all experience meaningful coincidences, serendipity, and synchronicity if we care to notice them. There was so much about this discussion I loved; everything from listening to Bernard’s description of how his deep love for a pet and his father paved the path towards him writing this book, to his description of the psychosphere as a means of human connection, to our discussion of the importance of belief, faith, and trust especially as it relates to the phrase "all things happen for a reason" and how those going through deep grief may find peace and solace in this knowing. You will find more of his essays on Psychology Today’s blog site. See one of his articles below as well as other important links to his work. This is the first episode where I invite three of my clients to speak about how they separated themselves from emotional, and for some, physically abusive relationships. There were commonalities in these relationships including the need for control and the lack of responsibility their spouses took in order to look inside themselves and their contributions towards the break-up. I congratulate these women on their courage to stand up for what is right for themselves and their children and to tell their stories in the hope to help others who have found themselves in similar situations. I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Felice Gersh once again. Many of you recognize her name from my previous episodes (#7, #23, #41) where we spoke of the important topics of hormone balance starting from the early years of menstruation all the way to the end of our cycles. In today’s episode, we touch on all the protective benefits of estradiol (estrogen) as it relates to cardiovascular health. Because estradiol takes a severe drop in menopause, it would be wise to increase our levels through various natural ways (lifestyle changes) as well as consider hormone replacement therapy. In today’s episode, you get to hear me riff on the topic of why it is important to set limits and what this means in terms of honoring your needs. I also describe why I much prefer using the term ‘drawing a line in the sand’ rather than ‘boundary’. I discuss why it is not only respectful of yourself but also respectful of others to define your limits and adhere to your values. I describe these terms in the context of relationships with your partner, children, colleagues, etc. Finally, I define why we always want to strive to be kind, but it is not so important to be nice and liked. To be liked is very fluid, whereas kindness is heart-centered and grounding. If you enjoy the I Think, I Can Podcast, I’d love for you to subscribe, rate, and give a review on Apple Podcasts. Hey! Today we are talking about the importance of tapping into our emotions and how to express emotions. This is so important in all areas of self-expression but especially in the area of relationships. In the area of self-development, it is not spoken about enough. There is also a big myth surrounding the idea that when a relationship is failing, it is all about communication. It is not ALL ABOUT the mechanics (strategy) of COMMUNICATION, it is all about self-actualization and tapping into your energy; how connected you are you to yourself. Your dependency to connect to others starts with how connected you are to yourself. Enjoy the show. In this solo episode, I discuss what staying power means when it comes to maintaining a relationship. One might substitute the word resiliency, but I personally feel it means something different. I am speaking towards finding the power from within, tapping into the true concept of self, and not using the judgment of yourself or others in order to stay true to your goal. Enjoy the show. Nancy Schwartz is the Founder and Transformational Strategist of Envision Healthy Retirement. After spending her career in corporate leadership roles, she decided she wanted to do life differently, and subsequently founded the successful retained search company, SearchExecution. Nancy’s innovative and solution-oriented approach to solving complex issues is what has earned her high praise and recognition to date. Interestingly, Nancy is a classically trained ballerina who has worked for nationally known ballet and modern companies. Nancy has thus used her skills in nuanced movement, discipline, artistry, and the importance of balance. In summary, why I invited Nancy to the podcast is because she is such an advocate for personal growth and enrichment, and has done the work to create more tools in her toolbox to help women transform, including certifications from Tiny Habits®, Retirement Options, HeartMath, and the Health Coach Institute, to name a few. I had the pleasure of welcoming back Dr. Felice Gersh, a multi-award-winning physician with dual board certifications in OB-GYN and Integrative Medicine. She is the founder and director of the Integrative Medical Group of Irvine, based in California, USA. Dr. Gersh is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to understanding women’s physiology. She doesn’t treat women’s health with a silo mentality, but instead as an intricate system of organs. She understands that the body has an amazing method of self-healing and repair when we simply use the right tools. In this podcast episode, we review common symptoms of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and how it takes two out of the three criteria to provide a clear diagnosis, how taking contraceptives can complicate diagnosis, and the considerations a woman needs to be aware of if considering pregnancy. We also summarize a few of the seven steps outlined in Dr. Gersh’s books, PCOS SOS and the PCOS SOS Fertility Fast Track. Also, just a reminder, her latest book Menopause: 50 Things You Need to Know , is now available on Amazon. In today’s episode, I explain how the notion of unworthiness or not being enough can have a profound impact on your romantic relationship. In my series on Improving your relationship by improving yourself, I describe how being self-judgemental falls under the ‘perfectionist’ personality type. As a perfectionist, you not only torment yourself on a daily basis to the point of mental exhaustion, but you are also judging your partner. You find yourself living in constant fear of making a mistake, yet making a mistake is a human quality, state, or essence. Life is not black or white, we are constantly living in a spectrum of good and bad…we have joy, then we have sadness, we have energy and then we have fatigue, we say intelligent words, then we say words we regret. Life is full of a lot of grey. The solution is in the power of awareness. To find out more about how to create a habit of thought awareness, sit back and listen. When it comes to why couples struggle to maintain or establish a relationship, procrastination is not normally the first thing that comes to mind. However, it can be an underlying cause to why couples are having difficulty in achieving the kind of relationship they have longed to achieve with their partner. In this episode, I discuss the true reason why people procrastinate (and it has nothing to do with laziness or not caring). I also suggest a laddered approach to overcoming procrastination and what your partner could do to help you to overcome your challenges. Lastly, I touch on the limiting beliefs of yourself that might be keeping you at a level of mediocracy rather than overwhelming joy. In today’s episode, I describe my personal approach to creating a better, more connective, more fulfilling relationship in a way that guarantees your own personal success by rebuilding a new version of yourself. Whether or not your partner will grow with you is unknown at this time. However, if you are ready to step up to the plate and guarantee your own happiness in life, by use of this proven method, this episode is for you. It explains how I help women rid their old debilitating versions of themselves and replace it with the true, authentic, and genuine versions of themselves which I call the "new concept of self". Today I welcomed Dr. Shyamala Kiru. Shyamala is an ex-therapist turned Leadership Mentor, obsessed with the connection between our emotional intelligence and our capacity for success, both personally and professionally. She works with high-performance, female entrepreneurs and professionals who desire to master their emotional intelligence and unlock embodied leadership, so they can execute their mission at a whole new level. Shyamala is also an author, podcaster, and mom who is based out of Toronto. I personally feel this topic is not discussed enough and perhaps it is because people do not realize that it is possible to regulate your emotions. To have agency over how you think and act. It is possible when you are willing to look at the underlying scripts and paradigms that you have going on in your head at any given time. These habits of thought, beliefs, and ways of thinking are essentially hijacking your ability to choose your higher emotions; joy, guiltlessness, humor, vibrancy, liberation, energized or your lower emotions; guilt, shame, procrastination, rumination, and hopelessness. In today’s solo episode, I discuss the concept of worthiness. Many people lack self-worth and to me, it is the foundation of success. I think we all have moments where we feel a sense of lack, doubt, and unworthiness. Fear is common, and fear often translates to feelings of lack, so perhaps it might be helpful to ask yourself “ What am I fearing?” or “Would I act differently if I knew I wouldn’t make a mistake?” Fact be told, success comes from acting with fear. Success comes from having trust in yourself, and faith in your abilities, without evidence of knowing you will be successful. If you do this repeatedly in life, you will likely make mistakes, you will likely fail at times, but you WILL BE SUCCESSFUL. When it is all said and done, no one remembers your mistakes, not even you! You will look back and wonder how to do it until you wonder how you did it. I credit Melanie Ann Layer for teaching me this. Get creative when deciding what you want. What does success mean to you? Use your imagination to envision your dream. I define imagination as dreaming with intention. Imagine it until it becomes your reality. Be intentional with your thoughts and desires. That is what success means to me. I wanted to share a simple story with you of a woman I met in Tuscany. Martine Janta-Polczynsk invited us over for a beautiful dinner one evening. The view from her home was gorgeous and her energy was equally as attractive. If you want to see some images of that evening with Martine, be sure to visit my Instagram page. I just connected so well with Martine because I could tell she was a woman that embodies her spirit and leads her life from her desires, rather than toward her desires. One cannot just ‘think’ of what they want, they need to ‘be’ what they want before they experience it. For example, Martine needed to act as if she already had what she desired in order to have what she longed for…this is also so true in terms of attracting your soul mate. Begin to ‘be’ what you desire in your soulmate, rather than ‘naming’ what you want. Embody the energy of what you so long for in your life, and it will come to you. It is law! Enjoy. While still on a bit of a high from my trip to Italy, I had the privilege of interviewing Alessio Maina, an organic wine and olive farmer in the province of Arezzo, Italy. In this interview, Alessio and I discussed organic practices applied to his small acreage and why it is more a matter of quality than it is quantity when it comes to harvesting local crops. This is of course much different than the agriculture practices we are exposed to in the prairie provinces. Quantity over quality. Local, high-quality regional foods are the norm for the locals of Arezzo and other neighboring provinces of Italy. Other topics discussed in the interview include ancient wheat varieties making a comeback, local honey, forestation as a farming practice, mushroom foraging, olive oil extraction, and more. One topic that was not discussed but is worth noting is the quality of water found in the region. Because the land is somewhat rocky, sandy, and of higher altitudes, it makes for a natural filtration system for the water, thus the locals are also blessed by having access to these artesian wells. One could bottle and sell the water they drink. We end the conversation by touching on the topic of the context in which the food is eaten. Let’s just say Drive Through’s are a foreign concept in Tuscany and surrounding areas. Enjoy. Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/

Join me today as I have a candid conversation with Dr. Lauren Berhman. Dr. Berhman and I discuss how oddly common it is for collaborative family law professionals to have shared the burden of emotional fragility as it relates to separation and divorce and the pain that accompanies these life-changing events. However, it is this common thread that allows us to provide the empathy and understanding to help our clients move through these times as easily and swiftly as possible. Secondly, we — two female therapists — after having spent the majority of our lives acting as both professionals and caregivers, came to the realization that it is time to give ourselves permission to just do ‘you’. In other words, start living our own life through intention and purpose, rather than living life through what others need of us. Both Dr. Berhman and I felt that this topic is one that needs to be discussed more openly and honestly amongst all women of all professions and it was for this reason that I invited her back to the podcast for Episode 26. Today I have a repeat offender, Dr. Felice Gersh. She was first on the show a few months ago when she discussed the importance of the female reproductive cycle in terms of long-term health. If you haven’t listened to Episode #7, I highly suggest you do so. Felice Gersh, M.D. is a multi-award-winning physician with dual board certifications in OB-GYN and Integrative Medicine. She is the founder and director of the Integrative Medical Group of Irvine, a practice that provides comprehensive health care for women by combining the best evidence-based therapies from conventional, naturopathic, and holistic medicine. She taught obstetrics and gynecology at Keck USC School of Medicine for 12 years as an Assistant Clinical Professor, where she received the highly coveted Outstanding Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award. She now serves as an Affiliate Faculty Member at the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine, through the University of Arizona School of Medicine, where she lectures and regularly grades the case presentations written by the Fellowship students for their final exams. Felice Gersh, M.D. is the bestselling author of PCOS SOS and the PCOS SOS Fertility Fast Track, and her newest book, Menopause: 50 Things You Need to Know, is now available on Amazon. She has also had numerous scientific articles published in peer-reviewed medical journals. She is a prolific lecturer and has been featured in several films and documentary series, including The Real Skinny on Fat with Montel Williams and Fasting with Valter Longo, Ph.D. In this episode, we discuss the importance of hormones past the reproductive years. Dr. Gersh made some excellent points about how the use of bio-identical hormones helps women age gracefully. She reminds us that this is no different than repairing the aging process when it comes to cataract surgery – as seen so commonly in aging, just as a hip replacement would be, or medications for fighting autoimmune disease, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s, osteoporosis, and breast cancer, all which are a result of hormone loss or imbalance that comes as a result of menopause. So why are we looking at HRT with such a cautious lens? I think it is worth a conversation with your physician who hopefully works closely with a nearby compound pharmacy and who can educate/offer you the option of bio-identical hormones. Dr. John Demartini tells a beautiful story of how he went from wearing the dunce cap in the classroom, having a physical disability and a childhood speech impediment, to later creating, developing, and employing a value system used by many individuals, entrepreneurs, schools, and corporations. Everyone will get a different lesson from listening to this episode but for me personally, the most important message is the power of belief and words, especially the words uttered from a parent’s mouth to their children. John’s mother communicated her belief and love to her son, and that is all it took for him to change the trajectory of his life. Today I have with me two powerful women, two twin sisters, Ashley and Jenna from Jenna Rae Cakes, a delectable family-owned bakery housed in Winnipeg, Canada. However, if you don’t live here, not to worry, they ship internationally as well! These women took a passion and made it into a rapidly growing business. Jenna needed a medium to express her design skills and it turns out that watching an episode of Cake Boss was all it took to solidify her purpose. She used the mindset I Think, I Can to create beautiful delectable sweet treats. Ashley’s eye for style and design helped her sister market her skills and build a brand that makes these sisters shine on Instagram. Their most recent accomplishment is writing a beautiful recipe book of their most sought-out treats, so all bakers can get a taste of their unique creations. Enjoy the show. Join me today for a powerful heart-felt ☺ episode with a woman who knows what it is like to become aligned with her feelings and use this ‘heart energy’ to get behind her thoughts. We often speak of how one must align with one’s own core values and beliefs to become our true authentic self, but what does this look like exactly? It seems like an enigma, doesn’t it? It doesn’t have to be – listen and get inspired! Catherine Burdett believes in the power of the heart to access insight and guidance on some of the most pressing personal questions that may arise in our lives. While she didn't understand the science of a coherent heart/mind connection at the time, she knew how it felt to be out of sync with her values - the emotional push and pull, of desiring to be home full-time with her new young family and the joy and reward of leading teams and contributing in the workplace. She chose to follow her heart 21 years ago, resigning her beloved role as a senior leader with a well-known hospitality brand, and hasn't looked back. Catherine is a professional certified coach with the International Coach Federation, a trainer and master facilitator specializing in the skills and competencies of emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and resilience. As a solopreneur and CoFounder of The Alignment Project, she has enjoyed global travel working with diverse cultures and organizations. She is a member of both the Canadian Management Centre and HeartMath Institute's training, coaching, and facilitation rosters. She graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington and currently works as a nutrition manager at Nutrisense, a health technology company that leverages continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) to optimize diet, health, and overall wellbeing. This is unlike what you would extract from blood work requisition during your yearly check-up. Blood sugar regulation is not important to only those suffering from diabetes, it provides a window to how your body responds to stress, food, sleep, hormone regulation, weight loss and so much more. Suzy Patz provides us with a powerful testimony of how she changed as a wife, employee, sister, daughter, but most importantly, as to how she now identifies herself as a woman. Suzy speaks from her heart in terms of how trauma allowed her to springboard into what it truly means to be alive and present in a world filled with incredible frenetic noise. She spoke of how isolation, meditation, allowed her to become a gatekeeper to the type of energy she wills to penetrate her body. This purposeful action allowed her to curate a life of incredible hope and happiness in who she has come to be. Today’s episode focuses on how weight loss can be particularly individualistic. How one diet might not be your diet, even though the experts say it is. Gin Stephens was just your everyday woman: a teacher, a mom, and a wife who was committed to feeling better and shedding the weight that she had slowly gained throughout her years. She wanted to become healthy and happy again. With incredible determination, she discovered that delaying her food, rather than denying herself food is the right way to go. It worked so well that others became interested and asked her to share her secret. Gin went on to write two highly popular and successful books on intermittent fasting and her most recent book Clean(ish): Eat (Mostly) Clean, Live (Mainly) Clean, and Unlock Your Body's Natural Ability to Self-Clean has also become highly popularized in terms of disease prevention by ridding ourselves of toxic burden, inside and out. This episode is all about what it means to become intentional with your health and life goals. Patrick Laine explains how his ‘light bulb’ moment changed his perspective surrounding becoming intentional with his health goals. He knew if he didn’t get real about changing his mindset, he would still be his unhealthy self (mind and body) 10-20 years from now. Patrick is not about calorie counting, weighing, or doing without. He realized that changing your thoughts is what changes your behavior. He wants you and your children to focus on where you want to go, not where you are right now. It is all about setting your intention. Patrick’s motto is ‘there is no better time than right now’ to change your thoughts, which will change your life. Anne Thériault is a young, talented Canadian essayist and journalist who took it upon herself to research the history of the treatment of those struggling with emotional health. This curiosity led her to a small town in Belgium, named Geel, where she discovered that at one time, individuals were treated with utmost care and compassion. Despite national efforts towards speaking openly about emotional health – our Canadian medical system needs a lot more tuning in and education towards making those affected by emotional health feel better understood and taken care of once admitted into the system.
