Curiosity led her to strike up a conversation, discovering he was talking with his dad each day. This simple introduction to Sam—a student with few friends who had never been exposed to faith—set in motion a remarkable journey neither could have anticipated. Join us on the SEEK podcast as Father John Burns opens our hearts to the transformative power of Catholic homilies. Unlike any other form of public speaking, an authentic homily weaves together Scripture, liturgy, and our daily lives, offering a unique conduit for divine grace. Father Burns delves deep into the essence of impactful preaching, emphasizing that the core of powerful homilies is not in the technique but in prayer. He shares his personal approach to homily preparation, which begins with a prayerful request to understand the hearts of his listeners. This spiritual preparation allows him to transcend his own ideas and deliver messages that resonate deeply with parishioners, often addressing their needs in ways he had not anticipated. Highlighting the biblical metaphor of sowing seeds, Father Burns reminds us that as preachers, we participate in God’s work by planting the living Word in the hearts of the faithful. It’s a humble reminder that while we may lay the foundations, it is God alone who brings forth the growth. Father Burns also touches on the need for a holistic approach to Church renewal, suggesting that powerful preaching must go hand in hand with the nurturing roles of both spiritual fathers and mothers within the Church. This unity of masculine and feminine expressions of faith embodies the fullness of God’s design for our spiritual family. Check out SEEK Replay https://seekreplay.com/

We are going through the different facets of what it means to have a redeemed masculinity or femininity and how that aids in the restoration of our sonship or daughtership. We unravel the complexities of surrendering to Jesus' call, a path that requires both external and internal shifts. Our discussion underscores the tension between worldly allure and spiritual truth, drawing inspiration from the unyielding faith of St. Charles Lwanga and his companions, who remind us of the joy and humanity in steadfast faith. Have you ever wondered how a leap of faith can alter your entire path? That's what we explore in this conversation with Mother Natalia, Father Boniface, and Father O'Loughlin, as we traverse memories of past Seek conferences and the spiritual growth they've stirred. Opening up about our vulnerabilities can be daunting, but imagine the power in finding God's love in those very crevices of the heart. This episode takes you through the sacred dance of embracing our less confident selves and the profound impact of vocalizing love into those spaces. Mother Natalia and Father Boniface share insights on the steadfastness of divine love and the pivotal role of spiritual guidance. Our dialogue shifts towards the sacrament of confession and the holistic nature of our faith, as we discuss how standing in our truths—sins and all—opens us up to God's infinite mercy. Acknowledging our imperfections not only fosters healing but also strengthens our communal bonds, allowing grace to build on our existing ties of love. Have you ever wondered why Renaissance art seems to overshadow the vibrant church art scene of today? Join us as we embark on a spirited exploration of contemporary Catholic creativity, from the engaging storytelling in "Saints Alive" and Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis," to the groundbreaking series, "The Chosen." Our dialogue goes between the roles of artists and consumers, as we champion the pursuit of excellence in the art we both create and appreciate. We even brush up against survivor's bias, questioning whether time filters out the mediocre to leave only the masterpieces, and how this principle applies to our modern creative endeavors. Wrapping things up with Scott Williams from Sock Religious. We highlight the role of high-quality initiatives, like FOCUS, in revitalizing church ministry and the personal stories of transformation they've inspired. Catholic singleness isn't just a waiting room for marriage or religious life—it's a vibrant vocation teeming with purpose. We speak about the practicalities of living a virtuous single life, preparing not only for possible future vocations but also for a life rooted in love and selflessness today. We draw inspiration from the simplicity of monastic life and the Church's wisdom on embracing one's current state with a heart for service and generosity. We tear down the romanticized narratives and provide encouragement and resources for those feeling undervalued, reminding listeners that their identity is so much more than their relationship status. On a frigid night, a spark ignited between two friends, Curtis Martin and Dr. Sri, blossoming into a movement that has redefined campus ministry. With just a passion for Christ, a Bible, and a borrowed chalkboard, the pair spearheaded FOCUS, a Catholic campus ministry that has grown exponentially over the last quarter-century. From Monday night Bible studies to training missionaries, we recount the humble beginnings and remarkable growth of Focus, an inspiring tale of faith in action. We're sending out an open invitation for you to join us at SEEK 24 from January 1st through 5th, in St. Louis. Let's start the new year with a renewed commitment to spiritual growth. Register now at: SEEK.focus.org Together, we can set the world on fire. Tune in, and begin your journey.

You are called to integrate your body and soul. Listen as Ellen and Kathleen talk about the goodness of our bodies and the belief in the resurrection of the BODY. This means our bodies are vitally important to not only our lives but also our worship of God and our salvation. What our bodies do and say and what we do with our bodies matters. But why would it be important for college students to know about Natural Family Planning? Most college students aren't married yet, some may have already discerned that marriage is not their vocation, so why learn about it now, or ever? St. Alberto Hurtado was an unusually gifted man. Like all Jesuits, he followed a lengthy period of intellectual and spiritual formation, and also studied for a European doctorate in education. He involved himself in issues of social policy, trades unions and poverty. He took a keen interest in the life of the Church and wrote articles challenging the bourgeois assumptions of fellow Catholics. He founded a journal, Mensaje, which is still published today. He gave retreats and spiritual direction that changed the lives of countless people. Most enduringly, he worked tirelessly for the poor and marginalized, setting up a charity called Hogar de Cristo, an enterprise which is still a going concern today. How can the teachings of this incredible Saint challenge all of us in our continued pursuit of holiness? Tune in and find out! The Renovo Podcast has a single goal: finding the miraculous in the mundane. Started in 2016 and hosted by Doug Tooke, Renovo digs deep into ideas of Catholic teaching and tradition with both clarity and consistency. “In terms of what it actually means to live a fulfilling life, you are poor, and you need God. And sometimes the hard experiences in our lives are what lead us to seek, and to knock.” Join Father Brian Larkin and Patrick Devenny as they discuss the verse from Matthew 7:7, and what it truly means to “seek and you will find.” What are you seeking for, and how long does it take to find what you are seeking? Father Brian Larkin and Patrick Devenny formed the Gregorian Rant podcast to help explain life through a Catholic lens. Patrick, a former collegiate football player and newly confirmed Catholic, gets Father Brian Larkin to help explain why the church teaches what it does. It offers consolation and challenge, regardless of where you find yourself on your journey with the Lord. Is there anything that you really want but are too afraid to ask for? In Matthew 7:7-8, Jesus tells his disciples: “Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” In this episode, Caroline bears testimony to the boldness she approached God with after encountering this passage in a special way at a past FOCUS conference. She shares how her bold prayer had to be met with bold action and provides encouragement for how you, too, can ask God for what it is your heart truly desires.
