We all want leads, right? And why not get leads through the power of podcasting? Lead Generation and Podcast Consultant Yann Ilunga chats with me to share his insights on how to create lead generation strategy when podcasting. Here is what we covered… How does podcasting for business help you generate leads and clients? Yann has been podcasting since 2014 and he’s produced over 400 episodes for his own business and for his clients. Podcasting for business, both hosting and guesting, have allowed Yann access to a number of opportunities including being able to speak at conferences, creating a podcasting community that just reached over 4900 members, and generated new clients for his business. In a nutshell, podcasting for business specifically has helped Yann to grow his network, foster a community, generate new leads, and land new clients. How do you create more leads through podcast? You need to look at how your business currently generates leads and how it turns those leads into prospects and customers. The first step with a podcast is to offer the listener a simple next step for them to take. This can be as simple as a checklist, or asking them to join your online community. Keep in mind the lack of visual dimension in a podcast, because if your next step fills the gap and is the natural next step they can take with you. You need to make sure your next step is as connected as possible to the topic that was discussed and it needs to be simple. Keep the link simple and easy to remember because people are often busy when listening to podcasts. When you are sending traffic from a podcast, it’s warm traffic whereas people who haven’t heard from you yet are cold traffic. Both are at different levels of commitment. As your thinking about the page that houses the resource you’re pointing people to on your podcast, think about the temperature of the traffic you are sending. If you have a Facebook group, you can generate leads directly from there. When people are signing up for the group you can ask them a set of initial questions that you can use to get targeted information from them. You can find out what topics they are interested in learning more about, where they were referred to, and what their email address is to follow up with them. Outside of a Facebook, you can create a specific page for listeners to get answer to their questions, delivers resources, and gives them an opportunity to work with you in a deeper way. Page builders and email sequences can help you

I have a return guest today. Initially we spoke about optimizing a users website experience to increase conversions – it was so great I had to have him back! Jon MacDonald, Founder of (https://thegood.com), a conversion rate optimization firm that helps brands convert more of their existing website traffic into buyers. Today I want to take this to the next level and talk about strategies on HOW to convert traffic. We all know about the ‘dreaded’ pop up to convert website traffic. How effective IS the pop up still? Where should we put ups and what are best practices? There of course other ways to convert website traffic. Can you share some? How can chat bots help with conversions? Some say 1 or 2 offers, some say the more the better (sidebar widgets, graphics in blogs, menu items) is there any rule of thumb? Can you share some common mistakes? Jon MacDonald is the founder and President of The Good (https://thegood.com), a conversion rate optimization firm that helps brands convert more of their existing website traffic into buyers. The Good has unlocked results for some of the largest online brands including Adobe, Nike, Xerox, Economist, and more. Jon regularly contributes content on conversion optimization to publications like Entrepreneur and Inc. He knows how to get visitors to take action. As President, Jon has helped lead The Good to become one of Oregon’s top 20 fastest-growing private companies. The team at The Good have made a practice of advising brands on how to see e-commerce sales double or more. In recent years, brands that have worked with The Good have seen an average revenue increase in revenue of over 100%. We all know the power of community and groups, especially in Facebook, but so many people start a group that fizzles out or just doesn’t bring them the results they were hoping. This is why I’m connecting with Kelly McCausey who instead of harder, discovered better ways to build an income online, and founded Love People + Make Money. Kelly will share her secrets to creating a Facebook Group that folks will not only want to be a part of but that brings results. Do you think that entrepreneurs sometimes create groups with the wrong intentions or also wrong outlook? Can you share why posting content and hoping it converts is NOT the right way? Is there a right way and wrong way of ‘onboarding’/treating a new member? How do we keep people engaged? What are some mistakes that we should avoid? Kelly McCausey Kelly began her business ventures in 2002 as a broke single mom making graphics and creating websites for home-based business owners. Kelly eventually started working smarter instead of harder, discovered better ways to build an income online, and founded Love People + Make Money. Now, she has a six-figure online business running a membership program and hosting live retreats (on the beach!) for female entrepreneurs to help them build up their communities and businesses. https://createmorecommunity.com/ *get affiliate link from Kelly https://lovepeoplemakemoney.com/

For any entrepreneur that wants rapid growth, building and growing a team is key – but man – why does it have to be so hard?! This is why I had to have Mads Singers on my podcast to share effective management practices – the super power you need to scale and grow your business. You say that only 2% of use effective management principles for exponential growth – why do we all suck at this? What does Effective Management Practices or Principles even mean? What are 3 things we are doing wrong and how can we fix it? We all think that team meetings are painful – what can we do differently to MAKE them productive and more enjoyable? Are there any rules of thumb for using communication and project management tools and apps? Mad’s Story: Having worked as a management coach for 6+ years, I have coached people in large organizations such as Shell and Coca-Cola and I have worked with entrepreneurs in small companies. My one main focus remain the same, effective people management – Organization no matter what size is build with awesome people. If you don’t know how to get the most out of your staff, you are missing out big time... and this is why I’m here! Management isn’t terribly complicated – with my Effective Management Mastery course, you can learn the most important management processes and start becoming a more effective manager and with that start growing and scaling your company. Walking the walk! Working in large organization like Xerox & IBM I have had a lot of coaches myself over the last 15 years and one of the things I personally look for in a coach is someone who is walking the walk, hence I’m only spending a max of 20% of my time coaching, the rest of my time goes to manage some of my other businesses: AristoSourcing – An outsourcing company specializing in helping clients execute repeatable processes. Client Powerhouse – A Local SEO company, providing SEO services to smaller local companies. https://madssingers.com/management-academy/ https://madssingers.com/

Who out there has said that they get business through word of mouth? A ton of us right? Well today we are going to chat with Bill Bice who has created a new approach to marketing, one that fuses technology and expertise together to deliver marketing-as-a-service for B2B and law firms at scale. He’s going to share how to turn conversations into conversions with word of mouth marketing. Here are some questions I asked. We hear so many entrepreneurs say that they get the bulk of their business through ‘word of mouth’. To me that means referrals but I know your business calls ‘Word of Mouth’ a form of marketing – what do you mean by that? You also talk about conversational marketing – is that related? How does it impact our business and what can we do to optimize and leverage it? Is ‘social selling’ the same thing? Your business creates Word Of Mouth Websites – what’s the difference? In an automated landscape how do we create more ‘conversations’ naturally? How is LinkedIn underutilized? Bill Bice has always been an entrepreneur, starting his first company at age 14, putting on road races with corporate sponsors. At 18, he started ProLaw Software, the first integrated ERP for law firms. After selling the company to Thomson Reuters, Bill became a VC as a founding partner in the Verge Fund, investing in high tech, high growth companies in the Southwest. One of the core things that Bill has learned in building and investing in companies is that the go-to-market is always the hardest part of growing a business. He got so frustrated in trying to get great marketing for his companies that he decided to tackle the problem. A programmer at heart, Bill founded boomtime, tackling marketing as a technology problem. It turns out that when you follow the data, really good things happen. That’s why boomtime built the world’s first marketing-as-a-service platform: fuse. boomtime’s marketing strategists follow the data: they already know what will work. Instead of reinventing the wheel, boomtime applies proven marketing techniques at scale. WEBSITE - https://www.boomtime.com/

This is why I had to have Mitchell Levy on my show. Not only is he a best selling author of over 60 books BUT he is the AHA Guy with AHAthat.com helping people get their book out with ease. Why do we struggle so much in getting a book DONE? What is the biggest hurdle in writing a book, to me it’s the getting what’s in your head onto paper and finding the time! Where do many entrepreneurs go wrong when writing a book? What is the easiest way to break down the process, as it feels so overwhelming? How can we outsource help? Global Credibility Expert Mitchell Levy (pronounced Lee Vee) is a TEDx speaker and international best selling author of over 60 books. We all want to create more engagement and increase sale and what better way to do that than create a demonstration online. Greg Dickinson, serial entrepreneur and founder of SaaS company, Omedym, gives software companies a way to capture more early-stage prospects faster, accelerate sales, and reduce costs. Your goal when creating your business was to transform the customer engagement experience, how does that effect the bottom line for your sales? Are demo’s simply a sales tool or does it have other uses in the life of a customer? What applications can we use demo’s? How can we make them customized? Who are ‘demo’s right for, to help sell their products? Is there a right way and wrong way to have a ‘demo’ on your site? Greg Dickinson, serial entrepreneur and founder of SaaS company, Omedym, started his career in software working as a pre-sales engineer. He loved the speed of the industry and enjoyed delivering product demonstrations of the newest, most innovative software to business buyers. Recently, he began to question why modern companies were giving demos in a way that was virtually identical to how he delivered his first demo in 1997. After he overheard his sons discussing their difficulties finding specific information in the pre-recorded videos of their online college courses, Greg decided that instructional videos and product demonstrations needed to catch up to the modern world. And so Omedym (which, in reverse, reads "My Demo") and the DemoOnDemand technology was born. Greg combined search and video technologies, the two most common mechanisms used by today’s software buyers, to develop DemoOnDemand. His clients now provide online demos so their buyers can type a question in the demonstration app and be brought to the correct video queued to the exact frame that answers their question. Greg believes this process is the way of the future. In a world where 85% of buyers who start filling out the ‘request a demo’ form abandon the process, Greg gives software companies a way to capture more early-stage prospects faster, accelerate sales, and reduce costs. Now we’ve spoken to some other business owners in the PPC and Facebook Ad space, but what caught my attention on today’s guest Jacob Baadsgaard is that he grew his company, Disruptive Advertising, to over 120 employees and 18M in revenue since 2012. And if that wasn’t impressive enough Jacob is a regular contributor on sites like Forbes, Entrepreneur, Unbounce and KissMetrics. I’m excited to tap into his experience on growing a team to spur business growth and make more of an impact. I love your story of starting your business in a basement to an Inc 500 company. There are many hurdles and plateaus in a business -what was the biggest one for you? There are different ways to view contractors and employees – what has your mindset been on employees to grow your business and how has it shifted along the way? I like your approach on turning employees into leaders that have an earning potential of 6 figures. Can you speak to that? As an entrepreneur we wear so many hats, especially when it comes to sales – how do we go from founder based selling to having a sales team. What are the first steps? With social media in the selling mix– does that make it more challenging or easier? Jacob Baadsgaard founded Disruptive Advertising in 2012 and has grown the company to over 120 employees and 18 million dollars in annual revenue with ZERO debt of outside funding. Disruptive Advertising helps businesses advertise profitably on Google and Facebook by leveraging their software and team of marketers. They have worked with over 1,000 businesses to date and have found that on average 76% of AdWords and Facebook Ad budgets are wasted. While most business leaders focus on personal financial gain, Jacob reinvests a fair amount of his profits back into his employees and the community; donating 10% of his salary to his church every month, spending upwards of $1k a week on snacks for the office, donating monthly to a charity cause his employees choose, and developing employees with no experience into leadership roles within his company that earn si

Dan Moyle is the Chief Marketing Officer at Interview Valet where he sets the marketing strategy for the business in addition to working directly with clients. Dan talks about interview marketing and what you need to do to have successful interview based podcast. Main Questions Asked: What do you mean by interruptive advertising? What is inbound marketing? What is podcast interview marketing? What kinds of goals should you have when you start your podcast? What are the do’s and don’ts of podcast marketing? What makes a good guest? What should you do once the podcast goes live? Do you have any tips for Instagram? Are there any other directories we should be syndicating to? Key Lessons Learned: Marketing People are tired of being interrupted in their life with advertising they don’t ask to see, but that seems to be most common way of getting attention in the market today. Inbound marketing includes content marketing but it can include other aspects. Convert. Delight. Most of the people we do business with are people we know, like, and trust. Inbound marketing is really all about relationships. Podcast interview marketing is the newest tool in the marketing toolbox alongside social media, paid ads, and content marketing. It’s about telling your story and sharing value with the audience. Podcasting When starting out, your goal should be to figure out your goals in the first place and then define your buyer persona. Most people who start a podcast don’t carry it through. Podcasting is a long term marketing strategy. It’s almost a selfish act, you get to ask the questions you always wanted to know from someone who may not have the time to speak to you one on one. If you are a guest on someone’s podcast, treat it like a full fledged media appearance. As a guest, invest in quality equipment, show up early, and help promote the show afterwards. Don’t worry about stumbling on your words, a podcast is meant to be an authentic conversation. A good guest is prepared and professional, being a good story teller is helpful too. Be conversational but focus on the interview itself. Having a one-sheet is a great way to advertise yourself as an interview guest. It includes the bio and possible interview topics. People are busy so don’t bombard them with your pitch. Send the listeners back to a specific page at the end of the interview and then promote the show once you’re done. Your podcast has to have a home base. You should have a website where you own and control the content. Show notes are great but transcribing is also another way to leverage your audio content. Focus on the main directories like iTunes and S

Nick Loper is the Chief Side Hustler at Side Hustle Nation and has been exploring non-job income opportunities and supporting an amazing community of aspiring and part-time entrepreneurs seeking to add a little more financial freedom and security to their lives. He is also the host of the top-rated Side Hustle Show podcast. Main Questions Asked: What is Side Hustle Nation and what does it mean? What was your main goal? What made you start your podcast? What is the Listener Pyramid? What are some of the biggest mistakes you’ve seen? What are some great ways to convert listeners to subscribers/raving fans? Key Lessons Learned: Side Hustle A side hustle is a job or gig that you can do outside of your day job to make some extra money. Nick was always looking for the chance to diversify his income. After running a footwear comparison shopping site, Nick did some soul searching and thought about what he wanted to be known for which is where the idea for the Side Hustle brand came from. “Because your 9 to 5 makes you a living, but your 5 to 9 makes you alive.” Nick never wanted to climb the corporate ladder, so after three years of working nights and weekends, Side Hustle Nation became Nick’s full time focus. One of the toughest parts of being a solo entrepreneur is that if something is sitting on your to do list for a long time, no one else is going to motivate you to get it done. Podcasting Nick originally started his podcast from peer pressure. He missed the boat on Youtube and video marketing but iTunes was seen as the future. He started off with very inexpensive equipment and free tutorials to figure out the process. Nick’s podcast grew slowly and wasn’t an overnight viral success. He began by reaching out to his friends and family to download, listen, and leave reviews. You have to give it an initial push. Once you get going, the algorithm takes over and makes it easier for people to find you. Everyone starts from scratch and there’s value in every episode. You have to keep the listener in mind when titling your episodes. What’s in it for them? When creating content, ask yourself what the hook is. Make your podcast too good not to share. A content upgrade strategy where you offer something extra to listeners is a good way to convert them to your email list. Nick realized that treating the podcast as a content marketing channel and not a business in itself was the mindset change he needed to make. Consistency and results are the two main components of a great podcast. If you can deliver that, you will create raving fans. Using the same language in your podcast is a way to create a rhythm that your listeners will respond to.

Baird Hall is a tech entrepreneur and digital marketer, and the Founder of Wavve. He leads all sales, marketing, and support efforts for the Wavve team. Prior to founding Wavve, he did co-found a social media startup and was an early team member at 500 startup company. Baird and Lyndsay discuss what Wavve is and how you can use it so your podcast can reach more people. Main Questions Asked: What is Wavve? How do you find the right clip to share? How tech savvy do you have to be to use Wavve? Has anyone used Wavve for other applications? Are there any mistakes you see that we shouldn’t do? Do you have any Instagram tips? Key Lessons Learned: Podcasting And Video Podcasting is an incredible way to build relationships with prospects and customers. It’s the only way to have an authentic conversation without actually talking to someone. Tech is making growing an audience with podcast easier than ever. Wavve was originally an internal marketing tool developed for Baird’s previous startup. They realized that there is no great way to put long form audio content onto social media. Think about the kind of people in your niche and try to anticipate where they spend their time and what kinds of content they are interested so you can grab their attention. Focus on the platform that gets you the best results. Use the analytics the social platforms provide to understand where you should be spending your time. Give your prospect a reason to listen to what you are creating. Answer the question of why someone should listen and how they can listen. If you have a website, you should push people to your site but it depends on your goals for your content. Avoid using your Libsyn link. Posting on Instagram at the same times each day consistently will get you the best engagement rates. If you don’t include hashtages Promote your old episodes. Podcasts are evergreen content. Try different approaches and keywords and see how you can increase the reach of your past episodes. People go to social media to be entertained and get away from work. Use your authentic voice, be yourself, and create an emotional connection with your audience. Wavve Wavve is an app that takes long form audio and turns it into short video clips that includes images, waveforms, and text. You can put it anywhere that supports video. Generally the clip you choose should be between 30 seconds and 2 minutes. You want to pick a clip that really stands out and if possible, leaves the listener hanging and wanting to listen to whole thing. Some users get creative and use Wavve to put out a quick summary of the episode instead of a quote from the episode itself. If you are tech savvy enough to create a podcast,

Todd Tresidder’s background includes getting a B.A. in Economics from University of California at Davis. Todd is a member of the Economics Honors Society and Deans List and has been a serial entrepreneur since childhood building many businesses and retiring at age 35 from his position as a Hedge Fund Investment Manager responsible for a 20+ million dollar portfolio. Todd raised his net worth from less than zero at age 23 to self-made millionaire 12 years later by “walking the talk” using the same personal finance and investment strategies taught on this web site. Todd reached financial independence at the age 35 through investing – not marketing – unlike many other financial gurus who made their money through marketing courses and books. Main Questions Asked: How much money do we need to retire? Is there a point where it’s too late? What does financial coaching mean? Key Lessons Learned: Retirement Planning The default age for retirement has always been 65 but that’s beginning to change. Life spans are getting longer and the length of time people are retired is expanding. This means it takes way more money to support the additional years of retirement and financial independence doesn’t mean the same thing it used too. The new retirement involves having a career in the early stages and accumulating the capital you need for later on. The later stages in your life are focused on fulfillment. Most people think of retirement as a box where you save money for the first 65 years of your life and then you don’t do anything until the day you die, but that’s not the way life goes. They also tend to rely on their financial planner to create the wealth they need to survive when they retire. There are only three asset classes that you can viable for retirement planning and financial independence: Business entrepreneurship, direct ownership of real estate, and owning conventional paper assets. All three are acceptable, they just have different characteristics that have to match up to your needs. Financial planners will always try to sell you the conventional paper assets path but it’s not your only option. If you have a website, you should push people to your site but it depends on your goals for your content. Avoid using your Libsyn link. The advanced planning framework uses a different set of mathematics where you use other asset classes to build wealth. It’s never too late to start planning for retirement, you just need to have different strategies for different ages and skill sets. Almost everybody has the assumption that paper assets are the only real way to reach financial independence, they’re missing the framework they need to understand their other options. Everyone has a conflict of interest on your money except you. That’s why tra

Scott Whitaker is an author and membership business guru. In this episode you will learn why people will quit your membership program and what you can do to keep them. He is the author of “Why People Quit Your Membership Program & What You Can Do About It” and an online course “Seven Systems of a Growing Membership Business.” Scott has led membership organizations in both non-profit and for profit companies since 1997. He’s noted for having built the largest for profit coaching network for pastors of churches; growing from just 72 pastors a year to over 3,000 pastors a year. Main Questions Asked: What are some of the reasons people cancel? Key Lessons Learned: Membership Retention The major reasons people cancel a membership include: The cost being too much, many people impulse purchase a membership without understanding the value it provides. They’re too busy. Your members will never really tell you the real reason they’re quitting. Being “busy” is a socially acceptable way for them to opt out. “I’m not getting anything out of it.” You are not responsible to make sure your members make use of their membership, you have to show them how to use it properly. “I’m getting too much.” Membership overwhelm is a real thing, some people get intimidated by too much information too fast. “I found something else.” Never put your competitors down. How can you add value to what you are currently giving your customer. Make them an offer to keep them and make them feel like you value them. Many membership business owners don’t know why their members quit. If you really believe in your membership, you are doing your customer a disservice by not trying to keep and help them. Get rid of the button that makes it easy to cancel a customer’s account. Make it clear, but make sure they need to speak to someone first. Rescuing A Quitter Never process a cancellation without a conversation. Recognize that every member matters. A member that wants to quit deserves your attention. Always have a pre call plan and script. Know their name, business, location, how long they’ve been a member, their lifetime value, and why they matter to you. Have a conversation about their engagement and avoid putting them on the defensive. Never have a conversation without an offer. Always have a good/better/best offer that you can make to keep them. If people don’t know their options, they have no reason not to cancel. Always include a deadline. Get to the heart of the matter. Try to discover the true reason someone is quitting. People join a membership with their heart and the quit with their head. Use the three words: feel/felt/found and help the person solve whatever their issue is. It’s difficult to say no to someon

Hani Mourra is a dad, softwarepreneur, and the founder of the Repurpose.io, a software designed to help content creators automatically publish their Podcasts and Facebook Lives to all major media platforms and grow their audience faster. He’s also the CEO and founder of Simple Podcast Press Plugin, a company that specializes in online software for content creators. Main Questions Asked: What is Repurpose.io and how does it help content creators? Are content creators nervous about repurposing content? What does Simple Podcast Press do? What are some mistakes that podcasters do? How difficult is it to get started with Simple Podcast Press? Key Lessons Learned: Repurpose.io Repurpose is software that is meant to automate the creation of content in different formats and publishing it to a variety of platforms. You can create one piece of content like a Facebook Live and then create a set of rules that upload the video to YouTube, convert the video to audio and then upload it to Libsyn so you can use it as a podcast. Content creators are cautious about reusing their content but people consume content in different ways. People have different learning styles and having your content in a variety of formats is a good way to reach a larger audience. Repurpose doesn’t ask you to change your workflow, it takes over after you hit the publish button and does everything automatically. Repurpose also comes with templates for when you are converting audio to video, that makes uploading a podcast to YouTube easy. It also adds a Call To Action link in the first two lines of the description so it’s always visible when the episode is viewed on YouTube. Simple Podcast Press Simple Podcast Press started out as a tool that focused on automating publishing your podcast onto your WordPress site. The focus later became the player itself and the buttons that encourage the user to take action. It’s customizable for whatever platforms and actions you need and also encourages the listener to opt in to your email list. It also has an option for custom buttons that allow you to give away custom content that is specific to that episode. Another great feature is the clickable timestamps, they make it very easy for the listener to zero in on exactly what they want and creates a better listener experience. When it comes to the opt in box, it’s important to offer something that is short, actionable, and valuable. Podcasting Many podcasters edit too much, focus more on the content than the presentation of the episode. Ask for feedback and provide the content that your listeners are asking for. Email the segment of your list that opted in for the content th

Sandra Rea is the founder of The Bathrobe Investor as well as a writer, content creator, digital marketing expert, and real estate investor. She specializes in the change and use of short term rental properties and has two sides to her professional life. She is launching a new program as part of the Catapult Crew all about building funnels and digital marketing. Main Questions Asked: What is a copywriter? What should people look for in a copywriter? What is a ghostwriter and what does that entail? Where did Bathrobe Investor come from? How do you write in different voices and niches? Key Lessons Learned: Copywriting There is a major difference between someone that has been writing for many years and an amatuer writing copy. Copywriting is a style of writing that focuses on convincing the reader to take an action specifically by resonating with the reader. You have to understand the psychology of the target that the copy is being written for. SEO is part of the process, but it’s normally very subtle. Good content is what matters most when it comes to SEO. Finding the right copywriter for you is a matter of knowing what skills you need. Some copywriters focus on ghostwriting and some have other marketing skills that make them more expensive to hire. It depends on your goals and targets. Research is a major part of a copywriter’s job, that’s how they understand the target and the voice they need to write in. Ghost Writing A ghostwriter is someone who writes in someone else’s voice to create content in their name. Many of the books on store shelves have been written by ghostwriters who have interviewed the “author” and then created the content of the book through that process. Not everyone is skilled at writing and hiring a ghostwriter can be a great resource for you to create the book you’ve always wanted. Having a book is a great way for entrepreneurs to market themselves and their businesses. It increases the value of your brand and your customer’s perception of your business. Investing After learning the skills around real estate investing and writing in that niche, Sandra started to implement the knowledge she was writing about to invest in real estate herself. Everyone has the same number of hours in the day, entrepreneurs just have to put their head down and do the work whether they want to or not. Building a team that shores up your weaknesses is a good idea and allows you to focus on where your strengths are. Final Tips Entrepreneurs need to keep learning, we are never truly satisfied with what we know. If writing's not your thing, do yourself a favour a

Scott Whitaker is an author and membership business guru. You will learn in depth, the seven systems of growing a membership site business. Main Questions Asked: What got you into the membership site business? What are the main benefits of offering a membership program? What are the Seven Systems? Key Lessons Learned: Membership Business After building up the network for pastors, Scott learned a number of lessons that apply to nearly every kind of business. Almost every business owner should become an expert in the idea of membership. A membership business is a model that works in many different industries including coaching, real estate, travel, and more. A membership program is unique because your customers are giving you the authority to reinvest into them as members of your community. A membership program creates an affinity relationship between the members themselves and not just the content creator. Growing Your Membership Business A system is not just software, it’s anything that saves you stress, time, energy, and money. If you find yourself losing money or wasting time, you have to look at the systems you have in place and improve them. There a seven systems that exist in every membership business: Content - Everything that you provide, broken down into categories and put onto a content calendar. Assimilation - How you take someone who has just become a member and get them to the point where they feel like they own the membership. What do you want your members to believe, achieve, and receive? Marketing - You should have your market, message, and media match and you have to constantly reevaluate what’s working. Look at the source of your leads and whether or not they are high quality over the long term. Retention - There are two key words when it comes to retention, results and relationship. You need to have both aspects in your want your members to stick around. There should be a pain of disconnect, which is ultimately tied to the results and the relationship. Ascension - You should have at least three levels to your membership business. There will always be someone who wants the highest level of service. You want to maximize and leverage the different levels. Multiple levels also allow a member to descend instead of cancel. Strategy - A process for cons

Peter Lisoskie is the founding partner of Chatbot Nation as well as the CEO of InViral Business Incubator. He helps companies deploy chatbots for leads, sales, ecommerce, and customer service. His technology helps foster a more humanized experience between brands and people. Main Questions Asked: What is a chatbot? What are some applications for a chatbot? What types of businesses are chatbots suitable for? What kind of feedback are you getting from people who are using chatbots? Key Lessons Learned: Chatbots Chatbots are essentially software programs that simulate human conversation. Relationship Experience Technology is the future of communication where we create emotional interactive experiences within the technology itself. All new technologies face an initial backlash but eventually reach equilibrium. Chatbots are superior to every other form of marketing because it’s instant and consumer driven. Every interaction with a chatbot can be used to tag the conversation and keep track of the unique individuals. Peter believes that chatbots will be the end of email. The average US American gets 121 emails a day, chatbots are how you get above the noise. Your existing marketing efforts can put people into your chatbot which allows you to develop the lead with an autoresponder sequence. Be careful not to overwhelm a person by spamming them with messages. The open rates and click through rates of chatbots is currently extremely high. Facebook Messenger isn’t the only platform where chatbots can be found, they can be found on websites and other chat apps too. Chatbots are good options for both large, established businesses as well as the solopreneur. The character embodies the brand. If you’re just using chatbots for text communication, you’re missing out on an opportunity. Injecting humour into your message is a great way to make the interactive experience more memorable. Use Cases Chatbots can be used as a funnel facilitator that keeps leads moving through the various stages of the funnel. The interactive character of the chatbot can also be used as an accountability partner to keep the user on track. Messenger codes can allow the consumer to scan the code and have an interactive educational experience around their product. Final Tips If you want to rise above the noise, you have to do something different. Interactive experiences are the future of marketing communication. Chatbots are going to change the way businesses and brands communicate. Thank you for listening! Chris Spurvey is the author of It’s Time to Sell: Cultivating the Sales Mindset. After consciously choosing the sales profession as a means to create a better life for his family. Chris realized that negative images of sales were holding him back. By shifting his mind-set, Chris was able to transform his “inner game” and use his innate values and talents to become a top sales professional. Chris joined a boutique IT consulting firm in 2006 and spearheaded its growth to the point it was acquired by KPMG Canada in 2013, where he now serves as the VP of Business Development for Atlantic Canada. He has delivered talks throughout North America on cultivating the sales mindset. Main Questions Asked: What do you consider the characteristics of a good salesperson? Where does the sales mind-set come in? What do you consider social selling? What do you attribute your success to in LinkedIn? Key Lessons Learned: Sales Sales has changed, social media and the ability to educate ourselves has made selling different in the modern day. A salesperson used to have to be highly manipulative since it was a very competitive environment. The psyche of the buyer has changed, they have more defenses in place against that kind of sales process. Being authentic and caring about the customer is more effective today. Sales are the means to acquire the skills of the entrepreneur. Many people struggle because of their preconceived notions of what selling means. Sales is about being of service, problem solving, and finding ways to bring people your true value. When you change your mindset around sales it will feel much more natural for you. Social selling is the way people are educating themselves via the web and the signals they are giving off. It’s about looking through the eyes of the buyer and connecting personally. If you want to grow your business you have to focus on those platforms as a strategist with intention. Stick with the platform that works best for you. Mindset There are only two major ways to change, either something emotionally impactive or forced repetition and adjusting what you see on the “screen of your mind”. Chris formulated a motto that allowed him to focus on the energy of progress instead of just the numbers. He celebrated the small wins and focused on building relationships and the progress. Changing your mindset can bring your life more happiness at the same time as make your sales process easier. Now matter what stage your life is in, there is always a box around you determined by your mindset and perceptions. LinkedIn After creating his profile as a place to put his resume, Chris realized that LinkedIn was a great multiplier effect. He used Li

Michelle Shaeffer’s entrepreneurial journey began early in life with experiments in sales from Girl Scout cookies and 4H fundraisers to creating websites for her parents’ friends. It nearly came to a tragic end when she discovered her 6th grade teachers really didn’t like her idea of selling super-tactical test taking strategies and coaching services to other students in the classroom prior to a test. She still maintains the entire class grade could have been lifted with a smarter learning approach but the threat of suspension was quite effective in quieting her down–temporarily. Her first official business ventures as a teen (which came along with a fancy business license, not-so-fancy tax bill and no threats of suspension) included teaching piano lessons and tutoring students in math, history and science, allowing her to explore our many different learning styles and how to work within them to help students retain information and acquire new skills. As an adult, free to serve others in ways that help them reach their goals faster and get better results with less stress, Michelle helps entrepreneurs and small business owners discover how simple it can be to get real results from their websites, transforming them from ghost towns into ideal client attracting, lead generating, authority building tools.
