Listen to inspiring stories of heart-centered businesses and individuals inspired by the beach. The Beach Speaks is for anyone who wants to reconnect with the beach, return to their soul, and re-imagine their life! In This Episode: Let's talk beach rituals for a minute - do you have any? If so, what makes them so meaningful? Is it healing? Connection? And, how about the "perfect" beach body - what do you think about that? To explore these ideas, I invited a fellow podcaster and beach lover, Chris Angel Murphy (they/them), to talk about their favorite beach rituals - and, what started as a fun conversation about salt baths, hypnotherapy, and cruising the beaches around Los Angeles, quickly morphed into the topic of having the “ perfect" beach body . The future is here! This episode was written using ChatGPT. Well, some of it anyway. Zach Moreno and Rock Felder got together in the SquadCast virtual studio to discuss the AI craze sweeping the nation, ChatGPT. If you're unfamiliar, it stands for generative pre-training transformer. ChatGPT is a chatbot launched by OpenAI in November 2022. It is built on top of OpenAI's GPT-3 family of large language models, and is fine-tuned with both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques. Arielle Nissenblatt, our podcast producer, used ChatGPT to generate a short script for this episode and Zach and Rock agreed to record it! Then, they share their thoughts on the quality of the script. Here's the question we fed to ChatGPT: "Write a 5-minute podcast script on the following question: how do I record the best possible remote interview for a podcast?" They discuss: How SquadCast is using ChatGPT How we see the podcast community embracing AI tools How to give credit when ChatGPT is involved Links: Try ChatGPT Join the SquadPod Submit your podcast to be featured Bits of Gold Podcast Credits Written and produced by Arielle Nissenblatt Mixed and designed by Vince Moreno Jr Artwork and logos by Alex Whedbee Music by Shawn Valles Hosted by Zach Moreno and Rock Felder Transcripts by Sabeena Singhani

Meet SquadCaster Pam Uzzell. She's the host of Art Heals All Wounds. Here's what the show is about: Do you want to change the world? So do I! On this podcast, we meet artists whose work is doing just that. Each week I interview an artist and talk about their work. As creative thinkers, artists present us with some of the most compelling visions of ways that our world could work better for everyone--art around environmental, social, and racial justice, gender equity, ways to build community and bridge divisions, and solace for grieving-- If we can see solutions to the things that prevent us from thriving as individuals and societies, we can imagine implementing those solutions. Once we imagine, we can become the people we want to be, belonging in communities that nurture everyone, and living in societies based on equity and justice. In this episode: Marcus Thompson is a long-time Golden State Warriors beat reporter and Bay Area News Group sports columnist and currently writes for The Athletic . Growing up, he was fascinated by two things: words and Bay Area sports teams. In our conversation, he highlights teachers and other adults in his life that encouraged him to lean into writing, including sportswriter Michael Silver. More . Kim has had to find solutions to prevent her Mom from being scammed again. Scams are a topic I haven't covered before, and we all must understand how to minimize and protect our families from financial losses due to scams. Older adults are particularly vulnerable to scams. Various investment scams tend to cause the most significant losses for seniors, averaging $17,172 stolen per senior aged 70 to 79. Another high-cost scam for seniors (mainly those 80 or over) is a romance scam, resulting in $10,000 lost per person." The episode is called Did You Know The Greatest Maritime Disaster In The United States Happened In Arkansas? Find it here. From Randy's website, here’s what this episode is about: “Being a member of Rotary certainly has its privileges. We heard the next guest of the podcast at a Rotary meeting. Retired Judge John Fogleman shared a historically significant story with our club about the greatest maritime disaster in US History. We were surprised to learn that this disaster did not occur off our East (Atlantic) or West Coast (Pacific). It happened just off the shores of Arkansas on the Mighty Mississippi River about seven miles North of what is now downtown Memphis. Judge Fogleman sat down with us to share the whole story of the Sultana disaster, which took place in April of 1865, only a few weeks after the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. There are so many plots and subplots in this story, and Judge Fogleman does a great job outlining them all." She is the director and producer of three independent documentaries, Some Call It Heaven (2007), Unearthing the Dream (2012), and Welcome to the Neighborhood (2018). More about Pam here. She has over 20 years of experience in filmmaking, and her most recent project, Fiji Memory Colonial Time , has been on her mind since she was a teenager. The film explores the complexity of identity when it's been formed by privilege due to the exploitation of other people and the intended destruction of their culture. For Alexi, this was an opportunity to profile her mother's courage, share the bitter truths in their family's history, and the legacy of colonialism in Fiji. We discuss what motivated Alexi to pursue this story, how colonialism impacts our identities, and what she hopes viewers take away from this film. We also touch on the work that she does with issues around the housing crisis, displacement, and gentrification happening in San Francisco. Here’s the description of the podcast, from Pam's website: Ready to unlock your inner artist? In this podcast, we explore the intersection between art and well-being. Listen as artists share how they creatively engage with the issues we all struggle with. Through their stories, we meet ourselves with compassion and find common ground. Why are we taking a break? Well, we've got a few reasons. First: The month of March is a busy one for us. We're heading to LA for Podcast Movement. We also have a BIG update coming to you soon. More on that soon via our blogs, newsletters, and social posts. Next: We are taking this moment to assess our show. What's gone well? What could be improved? What show do you want to hear? So we're thinking about all those things, getting feedback from the community, and then reshaping the show into something new. Who knows? We could come back with a new logo and title. The whole shabang! AND: We want to acknowledge that being a creator is a lot of work. So while this break from the show will be used to plan for the new seasons, it's also going to be used for a bit of relaxation. And that's ok! We deserve it. And so do you! But we're not leaving you hanging. Over the next few weeks, we're bringing you episodes from our favorite SquadCast-related shows. These feed drops will either be from SquadCasters, showing off their shows, or from podcasts about podcasting...because the learning never stops! So, in the meantime, catch us on social media. On the show today, Sam Walker and Steve Jones of the podcast American Vigilante. Hosts Zach and Rock wanted to learn what it takes to produce an award-winning true crime podcast. About the show: KC is the American Vigilante - A hugely complex, intelligent, contradictory man who could save your life but end it too. Who leads a group of violent men standing on the blurred line between right and wrong, between revenge and redemption. A man you want on your side when it all falls apart. American Vigilante is true crime, but so much more. It’s saving abducted children, it’s stepping beyond the law. It’s rescue missions, assassination attempts and last-gasp protection. It’s all the stuff you hope never comes to you, until it does. About the host: Former BBC Journalist Sam Walker presents this Crowd Network original. She’s been speaking to KC for months and has recorded everything he’s told her. You’ll need to listen to make your own mind up, but you might never be the same again. In this episode of Between Two Mics, we discuss: The morals of true crime podcasting What makes a podcast a documentary, an investigation, or just a conversation How the New York Times' Caliphate debacle affected their production decisions How this show stands out from other true crime podcasts How to produce a limited-run series while keeping open the possibility of more episodes in the future Also in this episode: A pre-roll ad from Hilary Russo of Hilistically Speaking A mid-roll ad from Arielle Nissenblatt about the SquadCast community Credits Written and produced by Arielle Nissenblatt Mixed and designed by Vince Moreno Jr Artwork and logos by Alex Whedbee Transcript for Ian Powell Hosted by Zach Moreno and Rock Felder

Feed drop time! This week, we hand the mic over to SquadPodder, Noah Labhart, host of the Code Story podcast. In this episode, Noah interviews Zach about SquadCast, how it got started, his visions for the product, and more. This episode is from early 2020, so some things have changed since. But it's an awesome interview. Think How I Built This but for tech visionaries about their products. We’re doing a feed drop! For a few reasons: 1. To demonstrate the concept of a feed drop. It’s a great option in order to highlight an interview or share a friends’ podcast. 2. We wanted to show off Noah's podcast! 3. We had a lot going on this week, what with Zach returning from paternity leave soon, so we need some time to backlog a few episodes! From Noah's show notes: Zach Moreno is quite the renaissance man, being an artist, designer, author, developer… and a loving husband. He has interned on the Chrome team at Google, building extensions of DevTools and as a big believer in AngularJS, he wrote a book about deployment essentials of the language. After attempting to record a sci-fi drama, he found that the conventional remote audio recording tools didn’t produce a good quality recording… so much so, that he decided to build SquadCast – the best way for podcasters to record awesome sounding remote conversations. Here's some of what they discuss: How She Podcasts came to be! Did you know Elsie was reluctant to put on a live event at first but supported her friend and business partner? Welcome to Between Two Mics! In this episode, we speak with the co-hosts of Counter Programming with Shira and Arielle...Shira Moskowitz and Arielle Nissenblatt. They recently wrapped their pandemic distraction-cast after 14 months and (almost) 100,000 downloads. You may recognize Arielle's name. That's because in addition to being the co-host of CP, she's our community manager! She recently tweeted out an epic thread explaining how she and Shira almost reached 100,000 podcast downloads despite not having a budget, having a niche topic, and not being part of a network. In the thread, Arielle outlines how they did it. And in this episode, we break it all down. Sneak peek of what we discuss: Clear and concise messaging AKA over-communication Strategic promo & social swaps Pitching AND catching Sporadic guesting In-app placement This episode is longer than usual but it's worth it! Are you? Podcast Movement kicks off on August 3rd and we're so excited to head down to Nashville. In this episode of Between Two Mics from SquadCast, Zach and Rock discuss the podcast scene coming together in person for the first time since early 2020. Zach won't be able to join the SquadCast team this time around because he and his wife, Becca, have a baby on the way. Z&R use this episode to discuss future events that we plan to attend and sponsor. A big part of the SquadCast story is our continued presence and commitment to in-person networking events. We LOVE meeting podcasters and supporting event organizers. Later this year, we'll be at She Podcasts in Scottsdale, Outlier PodFest in Austin, and more. Empathy and compassion are both principals that guide the actions we take in fulfilling our mission to empower & connect creatives in meaningful conversations without barriers. A-politicism is another one of our principals, but when precious lives are lost, the conversation transcends politics elevating it to a matter of human rights. This is an uncomfortable conversation for most of us. We’re afraid of saying the wrong thing, offending people, losing relationships, jobs, customers, and in some cases, physical safety. While they may be uncomfortable, meaningful conversations where we dig to the roots of our biggest challenges often help us remove the most barriers. Black Lives Matter. We stand in solidarity with Black people grieving the losses of David McAtee, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and far too many others. We share and honor the outrage rippling through our country. We stand with you. We are listening. Please, help remove barriers by engaging in the most meaningful conversation there is.
