As ecologist Dr Kita Ashman says "Nature needs us now" We honour the growing number of people who realise how  connected we are to the land. WWF did a listening project and Kita tells us of the large numbers yearning for a simpler life, to get back in touch with nature. As a result they are putting $1 million into a Bushfire Regeneration Challenge. They want people with projects that need support, such as indigeneous land management in itiatives or people with expertise, to contact them at WWF.org.au. She has a recording of the last Pipistrelle bat on Christmas island. Its the sound of extinction. Chris Arnott speaks to Kay Wennagle and Natalie Bucknall of the BZE Technology and Science radfo show. His background in water and catchment management included projects in Iran and Jordan as well as the Murray Darling back at home. He sees consumer and investor shifts which will speed up the transition to a decarbonised economy. When he has the ear of the politician he says he gives them a positive pathway, which is non partisan and technically sound. The key points must "jump off the page" for them so he's keen to re publish a lot of lour research for different audiences. Renewable Energy Industrial Precincts is the title of a briefing paper from BZE and WWF. We hear from Nicky Ison, Simon Currie and Michael Lord about manufacturing in Australia. They were talking at the Beyond Zero Emissions Discussion Group on 7th October. . In Europe these energy hubs are ecosystems of shared heat, electricity and training.
