Today, I’m joined by Olivia as she takes us through her three vastly different birth experiences. Her first birth unfolded into a cascade of interventions, ultimately ending in a cesarean - an experience that opened her eyes to the realities of the mainstream birth system. Determined to do things differently, she planned a homebirth for her second. Olivia soon came to realise that hiring a private midwife and having a homebirth doesn’t automatically guarantee a fully supported, hands-off, undisturbed birth. Sometimes, even with the best intentions, a midwife’s past experiences or concerns can shape the space. In Olivia’s case, a call for an ambulance was made out of fear, disrupting what she had hoped would be an undisturbed birth. She describes this as an experience even more challenging than her cesarean. For her third birth, Olivia reclaimed full autonomy, stepping into her power to freebirth her baby at home on her own terms. This is a journey of awakening, resilience, and reclaiming birth - one that challenges perceptions and sparks deep reflection. Today, we begin with the birth story of first-time mum, Maddi. With a close friend who shared valuable knowledge about birth and a strong lineage of positive birth stories in her family, Maddi felt confident in her body’s ability to birth. While she chose to give birth in a hospital, her priority was to approach labour as naturally as possible. From the very start of her pregnancy, Maddi leaned into her intuition, balancing medical knowledge with trust in her body’s wisdom. She navigated hospital protocols with confidence, making informed choices and declining interventions that didn’t align with her birth preferences. This conscious decision-making empowered her to stay in control of her journey, ultimately achieving the birth she had envisioned - feeling supported, respected, and with minimal intervention. Maddie’s journey is a beautiful testament to the power of informed choice and self-belief. Show Notes: Instagram: @maddipaynee Resources: The Great Birth Rebellion, Australian Birth Stories

On today's show I sit with Jinti as she reflects on the transformative journey of her four births and the invaluable lessons she gathered along the way. Just two weeks into a worldwide adventure, she unexpectedly discovered she was pregnant. Overwhelmed by the uncertainty of what to do next, her mother’s encouraging words grounded her, giving her the confidence to continue traveling until it was time to return home and birth her baby. While her first birth in the hospital was natural, it revealed unnecessary interruptions that she instinctively felt weren’t needed. This experience sparked a deeper trust in herself, guiding her toward a different path for her subsequent births. For her son’s arrival, Jinti chose the quiet sanctuary of home, surrounded by nature, with only her partner by her side. This empowered and undisturbed birth deepened her belief in herself and strengthened her connection to the sacred process of pregnancy and childbirth, affirming that that all she truly needed was to trust her instincts and the innate wisdom of her body.. Her future births reflected this trust, each inviting her to surrender more fully to the mystery of life’s unfolding. Today, Jinti reflects on the profound insights gained from each birth and how they’ve shaped her journey. From maiden to mother, through the loss of her father, she has embraced the wisdom of her experiences, stepping into her authentic self. On today’s episode, we dive into Shontelle’s journey through her three hospital births. Her first experience followed the common medical path - an induction, and a postpartum haemorrhage that ended in a trip to the theatre. Despite this, Shontelle holds this birth with deep reverence as the beginning of her motherhood journey. For her second birth, everything shifted. Inspired by Ina May’s iconic book, Shontelle discovered the power of informed, instinctive birthing. This newfound mindset became invaluable when her baby boy made a swift and surprising entrance at just 37+ weeks. By her third pregnancy, Shontelle was deeply equipped with knowledge, tools, and confidence. She shares how she worked within the system to create a birth experience that felt truly transformative. Join us as we delve into the lessons she’s learnt along the way, and how preparation and mindset became her greatest allies in birthing her babies. Today, I sit down with Georgia, who shares her two deeply personal and positive birth stories - each unique, yet equally transformative. Like so many women, Georgia carried fear around birth. But a seed planted by her grandmother, shifted her perspective and opened her to the possibility that not all birth has to be traumatic. Determined to rewrite the narrative, Georgia turned to a Calm Birth course for guidance and education. This became her anchor, providing her and her husband with the confidence and tools they needed to navigate the hospital system with clarity and intention. For her second pregnancy, the restrictions of the Covid era led Georgia to seek an entirely different path - one rooted in the safety and comfort of her own home. With the support of a midwife who truly saw and honoured her, Georgia experienced the beauty of individualised care. When labour began, it mirrored her first, but this time she didn’t need to leave her sacred space. Surrounded by love and grounded in her power, Georgia birthed her baby at home, with her family by her side. In today’s episode, Georgia reflects on these two positive yet contrasting, journeys. She opens up about her battle with HG (hyperemesis gravidarum) in both pregnancies, the lessons she learnt, and how preparation, self-belief, and standing firm in your choices can create an empowering birth, no matter the setting. Today’s episode features the powerful and contrasting birth stories of Nathalie. After receiving a gestational diabetes (GDM) diagnosis, she was placed in the high-risk category, resulting in a cascade of interventions and care that felt disconnected from her unique needs and true health picture. That experience lit a spark within Nathalie, igniting a desire to rewrite her birth story the next time around. Guided by an inner knowing, she approached her next birth with intention and trust. Hiring a doula became a pivotal moment, introducing her to the possibility of homebirth and connecting her with a midwife who provided care tailored to her individual circumstances. This birth unfolded so quickly that her midwife and doula barely arrived in time, a beautiful reminder that Nathalie had everything she needed within herself all along. Today, Nathalie also unpacks a moment of profound emotional release after her son was born. The weight of her journey—the struggles, the growth, and the transformation—came rushing to the surface. Overwhelmed by the enormity of it all, she froze, unable to immediately reach for her baby. This powerful moment, though unexpected, reflects how birth has the ability to uncover and heal emotional blockages, offering deep transformation. Nathalie’s story is a beautiful testament to the sacredness of birth and the profound shifts that occur when we are supported, seen, and trust ourselves in the birthing space. On today’s show, I have the pleasure to welcome back fellow twin mama, Charlie, to share the birth story of her fraternal twin girls. If you haven’t already heard Charlie’s journey, you can revisit her first two births in episode #68 —where she transitioned from a belly birth with her first baby to a VBAC homebirth transfer. Even before the confirmation, Charlie sensed the presence of twin energy around her, though it still came as a beautiful surprise when she discovered she was carrying two babies. However, this revelation shifted her plans from a midwife-assisted homebirth to a more intentional unfolding of her journey. Rather than rush into decisions, she surrendered to the flow, taking each moment as it came, letting intuition lead the way. Throughout her pregnancy, Charlie faced her fears head-on, allowing them to surface and be released. She used minimal scans, balancing her need to reassure her husband with her own deep faith in her body’s wisdom. Slowly, the clarity emerged—unless she felt unsafe, she would birth her twins at home, with her husband by her side. Charlie’s story beautifully dismantles the common belief that twin births are automatically high-risk or dangerous, revealing instead the innate power of birth, even with multiples. Today, we welcome back Winona as she shares the beautiful story of her most recent birth—the arrival of her son. Winona first shared her journey in episode #106 , which was an experience that took her to the fiery depths of transformation, and out of that, she emerged with profound wisdom. Feeling a deep soul-calling for another baby, Winona opened the door to her son’s arrival. Her pregnancy became an invitation to surrender completely, trusting her baby’s timeline and anchoring into her intuition. She consciously tuned into her needs, never feeling the pull to seek outside guidance, knowing that all the answers she needed were already within. The mastery of her mindset became her greatest tool, as she approached this birth with the intention to work in harmony with her body. When labour began, Winona called upon all the lessons her first birth had gifted her. She embodied the deep remembrance of those teachings and birthed her son fully immersed in her primal power. On today’s episode, Yasmin shares her journey of preparing for a home birth and how she navigated the unexpected twists with resilience.. Yasmin's journey toward birth began long before she even met her husband. She consciously chose to fill her mind with stories of birth that were rooted in strength, empowerment, and love. What truly stood out to her was the undeniable power of birthing in a space that felt safe and familiar—home. When labour began, Yasmin felt excited and ready to embrace the rite of passage that lay ahead.. However, as the hours stretched into days, her experience shifted. Prodromal labour tested her strength in ways she hadn’t anticipated. Exhaustion crept in, and Yasmin, in tune with her intuition, made the decision to transfer to the hospital. What followed was a testament to Yasmin’s inner fire—the fierce mama within her emerged as she advocated for her desires during her belly birth. In surrendering to the unfolding of her birth experience, Yasmin shares the profound lessons she learnt about releasing control and embracing the flow of birth, wherever it may take you. And in the end, her greatest reward was finally meeting her beautiful 5.8kg baby boy. Today we’re joined by Jo, a Forensic Accountant turned Psychic Medium, sharing her four birth stories. Growing up in a family of eight, Jo was surrounded by babies, and hospital births were simply the norm. Her first birth experience was profoundly shaped by her mother-in-law’s illness and passing, which, unbeknownst to her at the time, would mark her initiation into the world of mediumship. Today, Jo opens up about her hospital births, which she once saw as positive, yet were shaped by a cascade of interventions - inductions, episiotomies, NICU stays, and even an epidural injury. It was through the gift of mediumship and learning to trust her intuition that Jo realised all the wisdom she needed to guide her through her fourth pregnancy and birth was already within her. Jo's journey is a powerful reminder of the innate and sacred wisdom that we all carry within us. On today’s episode, I sit down with Chloe, the other half of The Road to Wisdom podcast, as she shares her five birth experiences. She begins with her first experience at a birth centre, where she had a fast, four-hour labour at almost 42 weeks. Despite the quick and intense nature of her labour, she found safety in her birth space and instinctively turned inward to birth her baby. This experience became the foundation for her future births and the choices she made. Her second birth was a planned homebirth, but it took an unexpected turn when her baby arrived prematurely at 35 weeks and required time in the NICU. This vulnerable experience deepened her understanding of the medical system and impacted her mindset. However, during her next pregnancy, she overcame any lingering doubts, restored her trust in her body, and birthed her third baby safely at home at 38 weeks. Chloe’s fourth birth felt more like a gentle unfolding, and marked the arrival of her first son. By the time she was preparing for the birth of her fifth baby, Chloe shares how she laid crucial groundwork with her midwife to reclaim the sacredness of her fourth. On today’s episode I sit down with Keshia, one of the cohosts of The Road to Wisdom podcast, as we dive into her five unique birth experiences. Keshia’s journey into motherhood began with a hospital birth under the care of a private OB who had also delivered her and her siblings. Though her first birth was free of interventions and medication, it was only after meeting other mums and hearing their stories that she began to piece together the deeper aspects of childbirth and its lasting impact. Her path took an unexpected turn during her second pregnancy when her father’s illness and passing coincided with the birth of her son. Her third birth, a freebirth at home, mirrored her previous experience and left her with a deep sense that, although two children had been the original plan, the presence of a fourth child—a daughter—was unmistakable. Today, we explore how she navigated her fourth birth during COVID, her experience with stop-and-start labour, and the 25-minute speedy entrance of her fifth baby. This is a story filled with wonder, wisdom, and a glimpse into Keshia’s deepest experiences, which she shares in full over on The Road to Wisdom podcast. During this labour, she experienced the beginnings of the fetal ejection reflex for the first time, which was a powerful moment of bodily wisdom. However, hospital protocols and interventions eventually led to a cesarean birth. Despite this, Shelby embraced each step with pride and surrender, finding magical moments of peace and beauty along the way. Her third birth was where true transformation unfolded. When it came time to conceive her first child, she eventually sought out fertility support. Navigating profound mental health challenges during this pregnancy, Holly shares how connecting with a practitioner helped her manage her mental well-being. On today’s episode, we explore the contrasting journeys of Brooke’s two births. Brooke's first pregnancy was a planned and smooth experience, much like her initial birth plan. She envisioned a minimal pain experience, even joking she would "walk backwards into the hospital." However, the reality was a traumatic birth that left her shaken. Initially accepting this as normal, it wasn't until she heard other women who had experienced trauma similar to hers, describe their second births as empowering, that she began to question her own experience and the trauma she carried. When Brooke unexpectedly conceived her second child, she was determined to birth outside the system that had caused her so much pain. Despite facing resistance from an OB who refused to acknowledge the crucial information around her first birth's blood loss, Brooke fought for and ultimately secured the homebirth she longed for. Today, Brooke shares the profound differences between her two experiences. She recounts the disbelief and reverence she felt during her second birth, experiencing the true power of a physiological birth left undisturbed. On today's episode we hear from first-time mother, Jess, as she shares her empowering hospital birth story. After two and a half years and four pregnancies, it was finally Jess's moment to welcome her baby into the world. With two sister-in-laws as midwives - one specialising in homebirth -Jess found herself surrounded by a wealth of knowledge and support, which sparked her excitement and deepened her understanding of childbirth. Guided by her midwife relatives and initially considering a homebirth, Jess ultimately felt most comfortable birthing in a hospital setting. However, she didn't just choose any hospital; she carefully selected one that aligned with her birth preferences, particularly one that supported water birth. At just over 39 weeks, when her waters broke, Jess's initiation into motherhood truly began. Today, we dive into Amanda's remarkable birth stories, marked by challenges yet underscored by her unwavering resilience, advocacy and deep knowledge. Amanda's excitement about her first birth was initially clouded by a diagnosis of placenta previa at 32 weeks. This resolved as time passed, but Amanda soon faced another hurdle: preeclampsia, which led to a recommendation for induction at 38 weeks. Despite a series of medical interventions, Amanda achieved the vaginal birth she had hoped for. However, a tense moment occurred when her midwife pulled on her placenta and discovered that it was deeply attached to her uterus, a condition known as placenta accreta, which required Amanda to be taken away to have it surgical removed. When Amanda prepared to welcome her second child, she was armed with greater knowledge and a strong resolve to advocate for her choices. Despite being diagnosed once again with placenta previa, she maintained her positivity and advocated for her birth plan. Defying expectations, Amanda successfully gave birth to a healthy 5.3kg son in the way she envisioned. Join me as Amanda shares her inspiring birth stories, highlighting the crucial moments she asserted herself, the challenging discussions with healthcare providers, and her navigation when faced with the discovery of placenta accreta again, leading to significant and life-changing surgery. In today's episode, I sit down with Poppy, the host of Out the Gate Parenting, to explore her two distinctly different birth experiences. Poppy was inspired to choose homebirth after her sister's peaceful home delivery, contrasted sharply by witnessing a friend's hospital birth. Knowing this was the right path, Poppy engaged a homebirth midwife shortly after she consciously conceived her first child. However, as her birthing time approached, an uncomfortable encounter led Poppy to question the support she was receiving. This experience ultimately influenced her decision to forgo a private midwife for any future deliveries, despite having a beautiful first birth. When it was time to welcome her second child, Poppy felt confident and prepared. As the urge to push arrived unexpectedly early, Poppy found herself embracing the profound lesson of surrendering to the unique journey that each birth unfolds. After five intense hours of pushing, Poppy sensed something was unusual but remained unafraid, drawing strength from deep within to bring her baby into the world. As soon as he arrived, it was revealed that her son had been in a brow presentation. Poppy shares the challenges of the prolapse that followed and the natural healing process she embraced after this fiery birth, offering profound insights into the lessons she learnt along the way. I'm thrilled to introduce Kristine, an international midwife with over three decades of experience in the birth space. Kristine has dedicated her career to guiding women around the globe through their most transformative journey, offering compassion, expertise, and a profound understanding of the birthing process. Kristine's journey began as an apprentice midwife, working with the Amish community where home births were the norm. Witnessing birth unfold naturally, without medical intervention unless absolutely necessary, became her foundation. This early experience shaped her belief in the innate ability of women's bodies to birth, contrasting sharply with the hospital protocols she later encountered. Her path led her to specialise in breech births. Her work with Breech Without Borders has taken her around the world, teaching birth workers to view breech birth as a natural variation that requires a nuanced approach, rather than an immediate emergency, Kristine's approach to birth, particularly with high-risk cases, emphasises individual assessment and trust in the birthing process. Her perspective challenges the traditional medical model and offers a profound reevaluation of how we view birth. This dedication to her philosophy is evident in her work, which takes her to some of the most challenging environments, including refugee camps, where she provides the full scope of midwifery care to high-risk women. Despite encountering countless scenarios over her years of practice, Kristine remains amazed by the unpredictability of birth, recognising that anything is possible. In today's episode, Kristine shares her insights into breech birth, offering a glimpse into its diverse manifestations and the body's remarkable ability to adapt. She also delves into her extensive experience with multiple births, including a recent triplet home birth featured on episode #143 Join me in this captivating conversation as we explore the world and mind of one of the greatest midwives of our time. In this episode, Astrid reflects on her three unique birth experiences, each contributing to her deep respect for the journey of birth. Her trust in birth was instilled at a young age as she witnessed her siblings being born at home. Her first birth, initially planned for a homebirth but ending in a transfer, became a pivotal moment for Astrid. It prompted her to explore the essence of physiological birth more deeply. The natural unfolding of her second baby's birth further solidified her trust in her body’s innate wisdom. However, it was Astrid's third pregnancy that unraveled life's most profound teachings. Amidst the turbulence of a challenging pregnancy, her world shattered at 37 weeks when her partner was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Diving into these challenges, Astrid recounts the homebirth of her daughter, who arrived in her 43rd week weighing over 9 pounds. She shares the invaluable life lessons she uncovered from this journey, forging deeper bonds within her relationship as they walked through the fire of life and birth together. On today’s episode, I have the honour of sharing the remarkable story of Amber and her journey to birthing her triplets at home. Amber's husband sensed something unique about her pregnancy when he noticed her symptoms were more intense this time around. Initially dismissing it as typical pregnancy fatigue for a mother of five, Amber went for a dating scan with a friend. Little did she know, this scan would reveal a surprise: three sacs, three heartbeats. Amber recounts her reaction to the sonographer's reveal that she was indeed carrying triplets. As the news settled in, Amber felt a wave of grief, realising her dream of a home birth might be out of reach. However, she was determined to make it happen. With unwavering conviction, she set out to find her dream birth team, and to her relief, everything fell into place, and her home birth was back on track. Throughout her pregnancy, Amber was closely monitored and surrounded by supportive friends and family, which instilled in her the trust she needed to birth her babies. She shares the challenges and triumphs of carrying her triplets past the expected gestation date, an impressive 38 weeks. She recalls the scare of early water rupture at 24 weeks while she was organising a Halloween party at home. And the unique circumstances of triplet 1 and 2 being born en caul, while triplet 3 required special management by her highly skilled midwife. Amber's story is a testament to the incredible power of the female body and the remarkable journey it undertakes when given the space and support to unfold naturally. In today's episode, I’m excited to welcome Emma, co-founder of Maia Mothers Collective, as she shares her contrasting birth experiences. During her first pregnancy, Emma felt well-prepared for birth, but her experience of prodromal labour sent her on a rollercoaster of emotions. This ultimately led to a series of interventions that ended in an emergency caesarean. Without any real understanding why, in the moments that followed that experience she knew her next birth would be at home. Describing this pregnancy and birth as a more spiritual journey, Emma utilised the knowledge gained from her first birth experience as guidance as she entered the next season of motherhood, feeling more connected to her feminine wisdom than ever before. As this birth began to unfold, she noticed a stark contrast in her pain experience, feeling softer and more in flow with her surges. Emma attributed this newfound fluidity to her profound trust and deep surrender to the natural unfolding of this birth journey. Today, Emma shares her tips and expertise on supporting health and well-being during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She opens up about her struggle with depression during hyperemesis gravidarums (HG) overwhelming impact on her life, and expresses admiration for her midwives' swift action during a postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) experience. In today's episode, Lucinda guides us through the journey of her three contrasting births. Her introduction to motherhood was far from smooth, given a preexisting kidney condition that required careful blood pressure management. Unfortunately, poor care from health providers meant she never received the correct protocol, leading to a stressful pregnancy and a preeclampsia diagnosis. Lucinda's struggle for her birth and baby in the face of inadequate care resulted in a cascade of interventions and significant birth trauma. Shortly after conceiving, with the memories of her previous experience still fresh in her mind, Lucinda went on a journey of self-education about the available models of care. Her initial presumption that private obstetric care was the gold standard stumbled as she delved deeper into her research. With a better-managed blood pressure, this pregnancy was more enjoyable, but an accidental fainting spell meant she would once again face induction. This time, armed with the knowledge to advocate for herself, Lucinda proceeded to have a birth that left her astounded by its stark contrast and exhilaration compared to her first. It was a realisation — this was how birth should feel. This newfound understanding guided her through her most recent birth, where she stood firm in her autonomy, choosing never to leave the comfort of home. Lucinda's story speaks to the importance of personalised care, self-advocacy, and the recognition that, even in the face of trauma there's room for a positive and fulfilling birth experience. Today we warmly welcome back Emma to the podcast sharing her most recent birth. Emma’s first birth can only be described as a dream unfolding, one you can hear in detail over on episode #102. While Emma maintained the awareness that each birth is a unique journey, as she approached her second birthing experience, there was a natural sense of anticipation that it might progress more quickly. However, this labour would unfold over a span of 29 hours.. Emma guides us through the series of events that triggered enough disruption for her body to react in its innate protective manner. Recognising the impact of these subtle yet profound interruptions on her labor and observing a slowing of surges when she felt ready to push, Emma drew upon the wisdom accumulated over her years as a wellness expert, skilfully realigning herself and making the necessary adjustments to her environment so her birth could unfold undisturbed. Today's story stands as a testament to our biology and the instinctual response of our bodies, highlighting Emma's extraordinary strength and wisdom. Today we're diving into Marie's incredible story, one that beautifully illustrates the profound transformation that took place following her unplanned, intervention-free physiological birth in the hospital. In her first pregnancy and birth, Marie found herself consumed by anxiety and fear. She willingly handed over her power to medical professionals, following their guidance and even entertaining the idea of a planned caesarean or induction. But an unexpected turn of events changed everything. At 36 weeks, her waters broke, and on arrival to the hospital she was placed in a small room due to how busy they were, feeling abandoned as she waited for a more suitable space. Little did she know that this challenging situation would turn out to be a monumental gift. With only her husband by her side, she could labour undisturbed. When they finally secured a room for her, Marie caught her son shortly after, an empowering moment that shattered her preconceived notions about childbirth. This moment became the catalyst for her journey of unlearning. Marie's conscious conception of her daughter marked a new beginning. Determined to approach her pregnancy differently, she chose to take each day as it came, avoiding unnecessary medical interventions that had marred her first experience. On today's episode, I have the pleasure of sitting in conversation, once again, with Emily from the Authentic Birthkeeper. Not only is she a devoted wife and loving mother to three wonderful children, but she's also a freebirther and an experienced birth keeper. Today we touch on the stories of Emily's initial two births, which you can listen to in more detail on episode #44. This sets the stage for a deeper exploration into her most recent birth experience. She guides us in detail through the birth of her daughter, an experience she describes as her first entirely undisturbed and authentically physiological birth. Emily’s purpose transcendes beyond her own experiences. She's devoted to championing women to birth on their own terms, standing firm in their autonomy and sovereignty. Rooted in a profound trust and belief in the innate intelligence of women's bodies - and the symbiotic relationship between mother and child during birth - she envisions a world where birth remains undisturbed and uninhibited. Every word she speaks vibrates with her passion to reconnect women with their inherent strength and restore childbirth to its natural essence. In doing so, she challenges the prevailing medical birth paradigm and its inherent skepticism towards the natural capabilities of women's bodies. Today, Emily imparts her invaluable wisdom on childbirth and delves into her role as a freebirth birthkeeper. In today's episode, we unpack Lauren’s two births. Lauren's acceptance into the local MGP program ensured she received continuity of care throughout her pregnancy. Pairing this with a hypnobirthing course, Lauren armed herself with knowledge to strive for a physiological, intervention-free water birth. As labour started, Lauren was faced persistent vomiting, and upon reaching the hospital and hitting transition, she grappled with a crisis of confidence. As it turned out, her baby girl was en caul, still within her sac, and although an empowering water birth with zero interventions, this birth ended with Lauren sustaining a third-degree tear, needing 27 stitches. When the time came to welcome another child into her family, Lauren had relocated and was without the MGP care model. Leaning into her hypnobirthing training, she advocated for another intervention-free physiological birth in her local hospital. As labour started, the familiar sensation of vomiting returned, but as we know, every birth writes its own script. With her labour progressing faster than anticipated, another tumultuous transition unfolded. However, the natural release of her waters turned the tide, giving her a brief moment to pause, allowing her to harness her inner strength, slow down, and intuitively guide her body to birth her baby, preventing any tears. Today, as Lauren details her births, she shares the powerful moment when nurses struggled for hours to regulate her daughters breathing, but once wrapped in the comfort and warmth of her mother's embrace, she effortlessly found her breath's rhythm. However, during her pregnancy, sharing her birth choices unexpectedly brought forth fears projected onto her by others - a surprising twist for someone who had been raised with a strong foundation of normalised, empowering birth experiences. This exposure introduced her to a world of fear-based narratives surrounding childbirth. Kayla's lifelong desire for motherhood led her down a path toward a holistic lifestyle even before she became pregnant. Her introduction to the concept of homebirth through online videos solidified her decision that this was the path she wanted to take in bringing her babies into the world. While it was a positive and empowering experience, she couldn't help but grieve the rapid conclusion of a journey she had invested so much time and energy into. It was during this period that she delved into the world of placenta encapsulation, eventually embarking on a career supporting women as a placenta alchemist. Kayla recounts her extraordinary third birth, which unfolded before the 37-week gestation mark, highlighting the immense trust her midwife had in her and her baby, which fuelled her own confidence in birthing her 2kg son safely at home. When it was time to welcome her third child into the world, Kayla carried the profound knowledge that everything required for this birth resided within her. After eight adventurous years traveling the globe as a dedicated travel influencer, Lauren's path led her to a profound new chapter: motherhood. Coming off a whirlwind of experiences, Lauren knew it was time to anchor herself and nurture a family of her own. On today's episode, we explore the fascinating journey of Alana and her nine birth experiences. Alana grew up in a community where natural, undisturbed births were celebrated as the norm, fostering a positive outlook on childbirth. Witnessing her close friend giving birth further deepened her understanding of the process and prepared her for her own journey into motherhood. Alana's initiation into motherhood was a deeply sacred and intimate experience as she gave birth at home, with only her husband by her side. Her following births echoed a similar pattern, with swift arrivals earthside. However, the birth of her fifth child, brought forth new challenges as Alana experienced intense pain due to her baby's posterior position, leaving her with some apprehension for her next labor. During her seventh pregnancy, complications arose when she experience an antepartum haemorrhage, leading to an emergency transfer from her rural hospital for a managed delivery. This was the first time Alana gave birth without her husband's presence. Although her next birth in a hospital went smoothly without any interventions, she felt a disconnect and missed the sense of sacredness she experienced when birthing at home. Alana began her ninth pregnancy with hospital care but eventually decided to follow her instincts and return to her birthing roots. Today we hear the profound reflections and lessons Alana learned from her unique birth experiences, and how her husband's gentle reassurance that she had everything she needed within her, served as a guiding light when overwhelmed at the thought of birthing without him. When Taylor first conceived her daughter, she found herself with limited knowledge about childbirth and the various care options available to her. Seeking continuity of care, she embraced her local MGP program, leaning on the familiar presence of dedicated midwives that brought her a sense of security. As Taylor's labour began, she was confronted with intense back pain due to her baby's posterior position. The realisation that her labour was unfolding differently from her expectations sparked a sense of fear, casting a shadow of doubt over her birthing process. Eventually, interventions became part of her birth story, leaving Taylor with a feeling of disconnection from her daughter that resembled her disconnection throughout pregnancy. With the arrival of her next pregnancy, Taylor was deeply immersed in her pursuit for knowledge. She delved into the intricacies of physiological birth and what best supports the hormonal flow of labour. A turning point emerged during a routine scan when Taylor struggled to advocate for herself. The realisation that her voice might remain unheard during childbirth, given her difficulty in using it at that specific moment, served as a pivotal wake-up call. On today’s episode we welcome Ema, a first-time mum, whose path to motherhood was filled with unexpected turns, profound self-discovery, and a transformation that forever changed her perception of birth. Ema had a deep-rooted fear that having children might disrupt the harmony of her relationships. A turning point came when she experienced the heartbreaking loss of an accidental pregnancy, propelling her onto a conscious path of conceiving a child. When faced with fertility struggles, Ema went on a relentless pursuit to find a provider who could assist them in unravelling the underlying issues. It would then take five additional attempts before conceiving her son. As an accomplished veterinarian, Ema found solace in the world of medicine and surgery. On today's episode we hear the four birth stories from Northern Rivers mother, Lainie. From an early age, Lainie understood that birth was a natural and awe-inspiring process. The homebirths of her siblings were moments filled with love, support, and unwavering trust in the birthing process. Witnessing these births, solidified for her that birth was a sacred journey of empowerment and self-discovery. These experiences would lay the foundation for her own path to birthing in her power. Lainie’s first birth, a testament of her endurance, unfolded over a remarkable 36 hours. Her second birth was so fast she barely had time to remove her clothing. With unwavering resilience, she navigated a hospital transfer and all that it encompassed. Drawing from the wisdom and lessons learned from her previous experiences and listening to her intuition, Lainie chose to have the support and guidance of a private midwife for her future births. In the unfolding of her third birth, she discovered the essence of pure bliss, and as her forth birth stretched into the early hours on Boxing Day, her unwavering determination shone brightly. Through challenging labours, a hospital transfer, and the beauty of sovereign, undisturbed birth, Lainie surrendered to the rhythm of her surges, embracing the intensity and vulnerability that every birth demands. On today’s episode Civil Engineer and first-time mother, Bronte, shares her empowering drug-free hospital birth. Prior to falling pregnant, Bronte always assumed she would be the person who wanted all the pain relief on offer. Once she began to read birth books and listen to positive birth stories her beliefs and preferences about birth completely shifted. Realising her body was built for this and endeavouring to achieve a natural physiological birth. Towards the end of her pregnancy, Bronte was advised to head into hospital for light cramping. While there, she was told her light cramping were actually the beginnings of labour. Excited by this news she planned to stay for monitoring and then head home to labour in her own environment, but while walking back to the waiting room - her waters broke. As she glanced down she noticed that her waters were stained with meconium, flooding her with anxiety over the realisation that her water birth would no longer be an option. Bronte takes us through the empowering birth that unfolded, the difference in midwives after a shift change, and how despite under pressure she was able to advocate for herself and make informed decisions that helped her achieve the birth she desired. Today I dive into all things birth with Anna The Spiritual Midwife; host of The Natural Birth Podcast. After years of holding sacred space for women, it was a natural progression for Anna to enter the birth space. Her time studying and practicing as a Midwife exposed her to the many flaws of our broken maternity system; a system she would ultimately step away from in pursuit of her passion to educate women on the power of natural physiological birth. Today we speak on topics such as fear-based birth narratives, our over medicalised maternity system and the impacts this can have on birth outcomes, birth as a rite of passage, and so much more. Anna is a leader in changing the birth narrative, devoting her life to helping women claim their birth as a Rite of Passage. Today we are taken through the highs and lows of Elle’s fertility journey. After years of unsuccessful conception, Elle began heading down the fertility route to find some answers. As she was about to enter another round of testing, her fertility doctor suggested she her husband have testing done first. When his results came back they would discover the heartbreaking news. The time that followed would be a test of resilience and strength as they endured the often lows that come with infertility. A time away to reset their hearts gave them the space and clarity they needed to decide on using a sperm donor. Being adopted, Elle’s husband knew that love for your child is not based on how they come into your life. When finally experiencing their first successful embryo transfer, Elle takes us through the anxieties and challenges faced during her pregnancy and birth. During her next pregnancy, her 20 week scan picked up velamentous cord insertion. Advocating for herself, she requested another scan sooner than the recommended time frame, resulting in the discovery that her cervix was shortening at a concerning rate. Taking the precautions needed to keep her from going into preterm labour, Elle takes us through the healing birth that followed. Today Elle shares how being a part of the Infertility community gave her deeper insight when it mattered most, and why feeling respected and held in the birth space is just as important as your birth outcome. On today’s show first-time mother, Laura, takes us through her journey to bring her son earthside. A previous pregnancy loss led to understandable anxieties in her first trimester. It was at her 11 week scan that those fears were decimated when she saw her babies strong heartbeat for the first time. After years of suffering from mental health issues, she describes her pregnancy as being a healing journey that restored deep trust in her body and what it was capable of. Living a holistic lifestyle, Laura innately pulled away from the medical system, knowing that she wanted to birth her baby in a space that felt sacred to her… home. Although she dabbled with the idea of freebirthing, her acceptance into her local MGP program solidified her model of care choice. Due to short staff she was unable to meet her midwife until 35 weeks, receiving continuity of care mostly through her doula. Laura spent her pregnancy deeply educating herself on all aspects of physiological birth; knowledge that enabled her to stay grounded when they received differing advice from their midwife. Laura shares with us how her desire to freebirth almost manifested, and the shift in sensations as she emerged from transition and started bearing down. Today’s episode features the two birth stories of author, podcast host, postpartum doula, and motherhood support mentor, Anna. After coming off the pill and recognising the inconsistency of her cycle, Anna began investigating what was going on. An unpleasant experience with a fertility specialist sent her on a path to find more holistic care, eventually aligning with a care provider who successfully guided her to conceive her first baby. When a midwife suggest she birth her baby at home, although hesitant at first, her curiosity was the catalyst for the deep dive into physiological birth that followed; enabling her to detach from any beliefs held from the stories passed down and reclaim her innate wisdom that she was built to birth her babies. Although her two homebirths progressed in a similar way, she takes us through their notable differences and what wisdom she gained from each experience. Anna’s initiation into motherhood inspired her to write her first book "Mama, You’re Not Broken" where she breaks the unspoken rule to stay silent about the swirling emotions of motherhood; sharing research and personal experiences that shed light on taboo feelings around modern day mothering. Today we hear the two contrasting birth experiences of The After Birth podcast host, Liv. Being a same-sex couple, Liv and her wife used a sperm donor to conceive their babies. Having great luck with conception, it was a turbulent pregnancy that eventually led Liv to consider an induction. Amidst the cascade of interventions she was able to push back on the recommended cesarean and ask for more time; a choice that helped her avoid surgery but not the birth trauma that ensued. When it was time to conceive their next child, she refused to give away her power this time around; choosing to dive deep into birth education. Continuity of care and the completion of a hypnobirthing course set her up with the tools she needed to manifest the birth of her dreams. She takes us through the surreal moments of feeling natural labour for the first time, and how she and her wife made choosing a sperm donor a fun and intimate process. Today’s show features the inspiring and, at times, hearbreaking journey from Brisbane mum-of-two, Katie. Within a year after the birth of her son, Vance, Katie felt ready to try for a second child. As soon as her cycle returned, that dream became a reality when she conceived on her next ovulation. Sadly, she would suffer a pregnancy loss shortly after. Feeling positive it was her body doing what it was designed to do, in acceptance and trust, she moved on to fall pregnant again a short time later. After a second pregnancy loss, Katie began to feel a pang of doubt that maybe there was something deeper going on. As she experienced her fourth pregnancy loss, she was already deep in the trenches searching for answers. She shares how a podcast that flippantly spoke about the symptoms of low progesterone planted a seed of curiosity, and how she coped with the anxiety during her pregnancy, caused from so many losses, to go on to have the birth she had dreamed of to bring her rainbow baby home safely. Featuring on today’s show is mother-of-three and birth doula, Alyssa. After a routine ultrasound discovered that Alyssa had a shortened cervix and low fluid, she was prepped for an induction at 39 weeks. Only a short-time after having her waters ruptured, she gave birth to her daughter in the bath without any further interventions. Having had such a positive experience with her induction she decided to give up her MGP spot, instead choosing to stay in the comfort of her home to birth her second baby. Today we hear from Justine, the author and creator of Birth Book; an interactive guide to instil trust and confidence in ones body to birth. Justine’s story started like many, she was terrified at the thought of giving birth. It was only when she conceived her first child that she was able to transform her belief system around birth and adopt a mindset of complete trust in her body’s capabilities. Walking into a dimly lit room with machines away at her local birth centre, gave her the environment she needed to roar her son earthside in all her power. When she conceive her second baby, the wave of sickness that engulfed her felt different to her previous pregnancy. She would unfortunately find out that her little girl, Gigi Rose, was not viable for life. Overwhelmed with shock and grief, a shift in her mindset allowed Justine to honour her emotions while celebrating the short life of her little girl; birthing her at 16 weeks gestation surrounded by pure love. Although a tragic outcome, Justine knew her daughter was sent to her for a reason. Learning the importance of acceptance and alignment when on the journey of creation, which inspired her to create Birth Book. On today’s show we hear from first-time mother, Neva. Originating from Switzerland where birth centres are commonly used, Neva was disappointed when she couldn’t find one in her area. This led her to seek out advice and guidance from a friend about homebirthing, which she was the path she ultimately chose for her birth. When she felt the niggle of surges slowly building at 38 weeks gestation, she dismissed them as early labour signs. Riding through those waves, she hastily called on her partner to come check her, discovering it was time to call the midwife. Knowing she wouldn’t make it in time, her midwife supported them over the phone as she roared her son earthside on their bathroom floor, just the three of them. On today’s show, holistic nutrition coach and mother-of-four, Amanda, takes us on the journey that led her to freebirth her twin girls at home. Amanda experienced obstetric abuse during her first birth that caused a severe postpartum haemorrhage. Her second birth, although not as traumatic, solidified in her mind that any future babies would be born at home. When the urning for a third child started to arise, Amanda and her husband were given a 2% chance to conceive naturally due to his vasectomy reversal. Declining the IVF route, they instead chose to surrendered to what was meant for them; conceiving their twin girls only a short time later. Amanda threw herself into all research available around physiological twin birth. She innately knew her body was capable of birthing her babies but her options were limited when it came to support. With her extensive knowledge and understanding around twin birth, she knew the only place she could give her babies the time and presence they needed to come earthside, was undisturbed at home. Amanda shares the awe inspiring moments she bear witness to the power of her body's physiological dance to bring her transverse babies down to be born, and how she intwined her knowledge and instincts to navigate a pivotal point in her birth. On today’s show we hear the three contrasting birth experiences of mindset coach, podcaster and birth advocate, Ashley. Ashley went into her first pregnancy and birth handing over complete control to the healthcare professionals supporting her. She held projected shame over being plus-size which left her feeling disempowered, alone and intimidated. Her first birth ended in a cesarean. Diving deeper into education for her second pregnancy gave her the tools she knew were necessary to advocate for the VBAC she desired, but the constant fight to uphold her birth preferences wore her down, leading her to another cesarean feeling defeated and empty. During the three year break she took before calling in her third baby, she immersed herself in the wisdom of birth leaders and worked on her past traumas. This significant growth and education helped her to regain confidence and trust in herself to stand fully in her power for the journey ahead. When a friend suggested she look into her local birth centre, she felt it was the perfect place to birth her first baby. Although she had a challenging postpartum healing from an episiotomy, she knew she would return to the birth centre for her second child. It was only when a midwife suggested she try for a homebirth through the hospital that she opened herself up to the idea of birthing her second baby at home. Excitement for her new birth plan grew as she dove deeply into the homebirth world, but unfortunately a diagnosis at her 20 week scan labelled her too high-risk to be signed off for a homebirth. S2 EP65: Today’s episode features the inspirational journey of freebirthing twin mama, Ally. The birth of Ally’s first daughter was a pleasant enough experience for her to opt back into the same model of care during her second pregnancy, until one simple question from her five year old daughter prompted her to consider a homebirth. Using fertility treatments to fall pregnant with her second child, and having to go on a last minute trip to America, put her at a higher risk of a blood clotting condition known as deep vein thrombosis. When she raised concerns about a DVT to the midwife caring for her in America, her worries were quickly dismissed and a clearance to fly was given to her. The moment she landed in Australia she rushed straight to hospital where she was told she had a life-threatening 53cm blood clot in her leg. Considering all of this, when it came time to birth her son a hospital setting was the safest environment for her to bring him earthside and she went on to have a positive induction experience. Although left extremely traumatised by that season in her life, it pushed her deeper into her innate wisdom that no one knows her body better than she does . This was the initiation she needed to completely step out of the system for her pregnancy and fully harness the deep trust within herself, her babies, and birth. We chat about the gentle realisation over time that she was having twins, and the invaluable lessons she drew from her most challenging moments. On today’s show I chat with Perth mother, Jenna, about her two births. Jenna’s first birth at a birthing centre was relatively straight-forward, until the moment her daughter lagged taking her first breath causing her to be swiftly taken away. When she called in her second baby, a son that she had felt around her from a small child, she initially decided to go back to the birthing centre because of projected fears around homebirthing, but found she felt disconnected and low leaving her appointments. Those feelings of despair were the push she needed to seek out the homebirth she had always desired. We chat about the deep inner turmoil and lessons her pregnancies drew from her and the heartwarming moment she knew she was pregnant with her spirit baby. On today’s show I chat with birth photographer and mother of three, Bianca. Having birthed her first two babies within the hospital system, it wasn’t until she started documenting birth that the potent contrast between birth environments and the impact that can have on women, became apparent. When she conceived her third baby, she applied all the knowledge and wisdom she had gained through supporting other women to manifest the transformative birth she knew was possible. We chat about the surreal feeling of being in front of the camera instead of behind it, and her inner dialogue as she felt all the sensations of physiological birth for the first time. Today’s episode features the four births of Brisbane midwife and soon-to-be mother of five, Dayna. Having her first child at a young age meant she entered her journey from maiden to mother with very little knowledge on birth or the type of care she wanted. Although at the time she considered that experience a positive one, seeing her sister have a water birth prompted her to change her of model of care with baby number two. A colostasis diagnosis during her third pregnancy meant an induction was imminent and no chance of another beautiful water birth, but instead of letting that defeat her, she decided to relinquish the fear and doubt and trust in what will be. When baby number four arrived womb-side the deep confidence in herself and birth would shine through when she decided to free birth him at home. Today’s episode is one of miracles and heartache - featuring the long journey of birth photographer and mother of two, Amy. After losing one of her fallopian tubes to an ectopic pregnancy and being told by a specialist that she had minimal chances of conceiving naturally, Amy finally got her miracle baby. Although feeling overwhelmed with gratitude for her healthy baby, it wasn’t until her work as a birth photographer and witnessing the power of physiological, women-centred birth that she reflected and faced her past pregnancy and birth trauma. After suffering more loss, it was time for Amy to take back her power and gain control over her autonomy. She shares how she battled the fear and self-doubt anchored within after making the decision to homebirth her second son, an experience that deeply healed her, and how one act of compassion from a friend sent her on the path to become an award-winning birth photographer. There are moments of sorrow scattered throughout Amy’s journey but mostly courage, strength and resilience. My wish is that Amy’s story can be a beacon of hope for any listeners struggling with fertility. On today’s show I chat with Melbourne chiropractor and mother of two, Diana. Coming from a long-line of generational birth trauma, Diana chose to change the narrative with her own birth journey. She hired a doula, did a hypnobirthing course and learnt all she could about physiological birth to give her the tools and knowledge she needed to navigate the system and give birth, drug-free, at her local hospital. When she became pregnant with her second child, she again planned to birth at the local hospital only two minutes away, but her daughter had other plans and she ended up accidentally freebirthing her at home. Today’s episode features midwife, Anna, taking us through her breech birth journey. Originally wanting to birth at home through her hospitals midwifery program, she realised it was not an option after exhausting all efforts to turn her baby. Initially expecting to feel devastated when her final attempt ,doing an ECV failed, she left that appointment with a deep knowing and trust that her baby was breech presentation for a reason and she surrendered fully to the journey ahead of her. At 37+3 she went into spontaneous labour and ultimately had the vaginal birth she desired, feeling held and supported by her colleagues. On today’s episode we hear the birth story of first-time mum, Madelin. Having no concept of the types of care available to her, she entered the system and quickly felt overwhelmed and stressed by certain experiences. After completing a hypnobirthing course with her husband, they felt armed with knowledge walking into a midwife appointment at the hospital to discuss their birth preferences. Leaving that appointment feeling shut-down and unheard, Madelin knew a change in care was essential for her to manifest the birth she desired. On today’s episode I chat with Lisa about her fast and furious birth. Prior to her daughter being born Lisa says she felt terrified of birth and completely unprepared for what was ahead of her. Having only heard trauma-filled birth stories, she was consumed with doubt in her bodies abilities and lacked the knowledge to navigate the system. After booking an induction for 40 weeks, she went into spontaneous labour at home and ended up having a water birth 2 hours after arriving at hospital. Her birth experience transformed her perspective of birth, removing the fear and anxiety she once had, and revealing to her the innate power she always had within.

Todays show features the two contrasting births of Perth mum, Shannon. She describes her first birth as a traumatic and powerless experience that led her into a dark postpartum period, leaving her feeling incompetent. When she and her husband decided to try for another baby, they both agreed they did not want to relive that same story and opted to have a homebirth through the hospitals Community Midwifery Program. Today’s episode features the inspiring journey of mum of two, Carlie. She had originally planned to birth in her local hospital but was encouraged by a midwife to access their homebirth program. A scan at 38 weeks revealed her baby was frank breech (bum down) meaning she wouldn’t be able to birth at home unless her baby turned. Fortunately, her waters broke shortly after and she went on to have a completely unplanned but incredibly beautiful freebirth at home. Her son was born posterior and frank breech. Her second birth was again through the hospitals homebirth program and although another beautiful water birth, this time with a full term, head down baby; she reflects on the contrast between her two experiences and what she learned. On today’s show I chat with Emily about her three births. Her first planned homebirth, through the community midwifery program, unfortunately ended in a somewhat traumatic transfer to hospital. Emily then had to do a lot of work to unpack the fears left behind from that experience for her next birth, which was at home with a private midwife. She went on to have the birth of her dreams that she describes as leaving her on a high for years to come. When she consciously conceived her daughter, she originally had planned to have the same midwife, only to realise midway that she actually didn’t need anyone to birth her baby, and so began her journey to freebirth. Today’s episode features birthkeeper, Emily, sharing her two births. Emily’s first birth was at home with the support of a private midwife which she describes as an empowering experience that changed her forever. This was also the birth that ignited the fire in her to support women on their own rite of passage. After moving states she quickly realised it was financially not an option to have a homebirth midwife present with her second child and she wasn’t feeling aligned with a birth centre. After a conversation with her doula, she awakened that deep knowing within her that she didn’t actually NEED anyone to birth her child, and so began her journey down the path to freebirth her son at home. Kirsten is a go with the flow, cheerful type personality, so it was a welcomed surprise when, after taking Clomid to help conceive, they discovered they were having twins. She went into spontaneous labour at 35 weeks and had the vaginal birth she desired with the use of an epidural. Her second pregnancy she was determined to experience a physiological birth without the use of any drugs, and she did just that… Instagram: @angus_amanda_ahlia YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1pKPTFoYLE

On today’s show I have the privilege of chatting to Natalie about her two empowering births. Her first son she birthed at home with the support from a private midwife, and although it was an empowering experience, she looks back and can recognise moments of fear and stress throughout her pregnancy and birth. Two weeks into her pregnancy with her second child, she stumbled across a freebirthing video that ignited her innate intuition and forged the path ahead of her to freebirth her second son, Oakie. We chat about clear boundaries she put in place to protect her mental space and how she dealt with any fears that arose before she freebirthed her son at home. Instagram: @nataliealaska__

On todays show I chat with Sam about the empowering homebirth of her daughter, Isla. After hearing a powerful homebirth story from her hairdresser, she sought out the support of a private midwife to assist her, and her husband, to birth their first child safely at home in their own, peaceful environment. Initially thinking she was much too early to go into labour, her precious girl made her entrance earthside at 38 weeks gestation. We chat about how she dealt with negative comments received about her choice to homebirth and how she prepared herself for the journey ahead. On today’s show I chat with Luna about her two birth experiences. After planning her first birth in a birthing centre, a change in midwives led to her having a cascade of unnecessary interventions just as she was naturally about to give birth. Traumatised by that experience, she looked into free birthing when the time was right to fall pregnant again. A shocking cervical cancer diagnosis threatened her chances of carrying a baby as she was told she may not be able to have children in the future. This experience awakened her soul and sent her on a spiritual journey of self-discovery, believing deeply the power of affirmations and vivid visualisation helped her body and cervix heal from the trauma caused by the cancer removal. She went on to naturally conceive, carry, and birth her miracle baby with confidence and power. Instagram: @aplantifulllife

On today’s episode I have the privilege of interviewing Jerusha, one of the co-creators of the new documentary coming out this February called Birth Time. A documentary highlighting the current maternity system and the lack of funding and continuity care for women resulting in unacceptable birth trauma statistics. Aside from chatting about this much needed film, Jerusha, who had been a doula for 10 years at the time, shares with us her own transformative journey from maiden to mother, supported by the love and strength of women she has worked with and her adoring partner. She takes us through how she mentally prepared for the birth of her son, and the journey she went on to bring him earthside. Please head over to www.birthtime.world for all info on screening times, or if you are thinking of hosting your own screening, all the details on how to do that will be on their website. Today’s episode I chat with Tina about her two births. Her first was a planned home birth that ended up being in the hospital after an OB diagnosed her with intrauterine growth restrictions, which she still believes to this day was a misdiagnosis. Feeling disappointed by her experience within the hospital system, she went on her own journey of self discovery and expanding her knowledge. When she fell pregnant with her second child, she knew without a doubt that she wanted to avoid the medical system entirely and trust in her bodies innate ability to grow and birth her baby at home in her own environment. An inspiring story to ignite that self belief in what we are designed to do. Instagram: @tinacharlton_

Today’s episode I chat with Harriet about her two hospital births. Harriet felt like she was being dragged through the medical system with her first child. She went into labour just after 39 weeks and was caught off guard by how quickly her baby was born. Told by staff she was lucky to have had the birth she did, she looked back on her experience as highly stressful and terrifying. For her second pregnancy, she completed a Hypnobirthing Australia program and found the inspiration and confidence she needed to birth her second child, giving her the tools to stay in control when things got out of control with another quick labour. On today’s episode I get to chat with the incredibly knowledgeable Holliea about her empowering home birth. At 21 Holliea was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and polycystic ovarian syndrome. After coming off the pill she had no menstrual cycle for three years, eventually being told it would be difficult for her to conceive when the time comes and that her condition was considered “normal”. Heavily depressed and disconnected, she began to seek answers through her own studies. This ignited a passion within her for herbal medicines and daily self care practices. Through her learnings, she consciously conceived her daughter and experienced a blissful birth. A beautiful story about personal healing and a deep connection to the radiant, flowing feminine essence within. Instagram: @shakti_healing

Rebecca shares with us her incredible journey to motherhood with two extremely different birth experiences, and what it was like birthing during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Initially terrified of birth, a hypnobirthing course helped her feel connected and fall in love with the process, giving her the vital skill to stay calm when she went into preterm labour at her baby shower, just shy of 35 weeks. That drive led her to create her own business joining her two passions; supporting clients as a psychologist, and hypnobirthing. She had an unexpected turn of events with her second birth leading to a c-section. A story of great resilience and empowerment through being informed and trusting the process no matter what path it takes us on. Instagram: @themindfulbirthmovement

Today’s episode I chat with Edriana about her cholestasis diagnosis during her pregnancy leading to a planned induction and a natural birth within a hospital. Edriana used the knowledge and skills she learned from a hypnobirthing course to help guide her to the natural birth she desired. She loved it so much, she became a hypnobirthing practitioner to help other women manifest an empowering birth experience like she did.
