Jim Ramos is a bestselling author, speaker, internationally-known podcaster, and the founder of Men in the Arena, a non-profit Christian ministry focused on equipping men to honor God in the leadership of their family, church, and community. Jim passionately proclaims that when a man 'gets it' - steps out of the bleachers and into the arena of leadership in his family, church and community - everyone wins. He hosts the #1 ranked Spotify podcast for Christian men, the Men in the Arena Podcast, interviewing experts in Christian manhood and partnering with thought-leaders like John Eldredge, Gary Chapman, Gene Getz, Patrick Morley, and Emerson Eggerichs. Jim's new book "Dialed In: Reaching Your Full Capacity as a Man of God" gives men a target — 20 Biblical principles outlined in Paul’s Letters to Timothy and Titus for who a Christian man is and what he does. Jim says, “Dialed In provides a tangible, biblically grounded guide for what each man should strive for and serves up masculine inspiration like a freshly grilled ribeye steak.” As the world tears down men, Dialed In, helps to build them up by encouraging them to fulfill their Godly purpose. Perfect for individual or group study, each chapter of this book has two opportunities. The first is the “Dial It In” section which includes a set of study questions that allow for reflection and motivational challenges. The second is the “Assessing Your Capacity” section which allows readers to identify strengths and weaknesses so men can dial in on areas to improve. The goal of this book is to help men navigate to the best version of themselves. You can find more about Jim and Men in the Arena here: Men In The Arena

In this second part of a two-part interview with Megan Basham, the conversation continues with topics ranging from abortion to critical race theory to current events surrounding the Democratic National Committee Convention. Listen in as the guys chat with Megan about the importance of shepherds leading their congregations in a way that honors God and the sacrifice of Jesus, ultimately leading to their encouragement being the ambassadors that we (as Christians) are called to be. In Shepherds for Sale, Megan Basham of the Daily Wire documents how progressive powerbrokers —from George Soros, to the founder of eBay, to former members of the Obama administration— set out to change the American church. Their goal: to co-opt evangelicals for political purposes. She exposes: · The left-wing billionaires, foundations, and think tanks that deliberately target Christian media, universities, megachurches, nonprofits, and even entire denominations · The celebrity megachurch pastor who secretly encouraged a group of pastors to change their views on sexuality · The revered Presbyterian theologian who backed a congregation rebelling against his own denomination These are just a glimpse into the compromises and astroturf campaigns Basham uncovers. Many evangelical leaders are pushing their members to “whisper” about sexual sins, reconsider the importance of abortion, lament the effects of climate change, and repent of “perpetuating systemic racism.” And in exchange for toeing a left-wing line, many of those church leaders and institutions have received cash, career jumps, prestige, and praise. Basham brings the receipts, and names names. A rigorously reported exposé, Shepherds for Sale is a warning of what happens when the church trusts the world’s wisdom instead of Scripture. On this side of the cross, being in the presence of God is still possible - but we must remove the veils on our hearts. In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss the veils over our hearts, using A.W. Tozer's writings from "The Pursuit of God." Listen in to discover where your veils are, and see what steps you can take to move closer into the presence of the Heavenly Father. When we look at what Jesus did for us, we must look at our own lives and determine how we are living our lives - our crucified lives. Paul writes to the Galatians "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." The Birth of Jesus Christ In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!" When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us." And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb. ===================================================================== Legacy Dads is proud to be partnered with the Christian Parenting Network of Podcasts. A recent Pew research study showed that 25% of 40-year-old adults in the US have never been married. When we think of "legacy," it's important for men to understand what God's design for legacy is - and that is in the covenant of marriage and fulfilling the command to multiply and subdue the earth. In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss this study and other current statistics that show that marriage is not only important to leaving a solid Christian legacy, but is also fiercely under attack by the enemy. Listen in and take the stand to protect biblical marriage as God designed! What's your testimony? Have you shared it with anybody? If not, why not? And if so, how'd it go? In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss the power of personal testimony - reporting to others how God has rescued you from the grip of sin and death and restored you to a life of eternity in heaven with Him. Sharing a testimony often involves vulnerability, but through vulnerability we create community. And when we have community, we are able to move into any mission before us and execute! Using biblical foundations, the guys talk about the power of testimony and encourage you to consider sharing yours with those around you. Share what God has done in your life...and see how it may inspire others to do just the same! Legacy Dads is proud to be partnered with the Christian Parenting Network of Podcasts. Legacy Dads had the pleasure welcome United States Senator Josh Hawley to discuss his new book "Manhood: The Masculine Virtues America Needs." Senator Hawley argues that the character of men, and the male virtue that goes along with it, is a necessary ingredient to a functioning society and a healthy, free republic. A free society that despises manhood will not remain free. No republic has ever survived without men of character to defend what is just and true. Starting with the wisdom of the ancients, from the Greek and Roman philosophers to Jesus of Nazareth, and drawing on the lessons of American history, Hawley identifies the defining strengths of men, including responsibility, bravery, fidelity, and leadership. Josh Hawley is a New York Times best-selling author, constitutional lawyer, and U.S. Senator for the state of Missouri. One of the most recognized political figures in America, Josh was elected in 2018 as the youngest Senator in the country. He is well known for his battles against Big Tech and in support of middle America. As a constitutional lawyer, he has litigated in courts across the country, including the U.S. Supreme Court, defending the First Amendment. He also served as Missouri’s Attorney General, the state’s top prosecutor, from 2017-2019. Josh is married to Erin Hawley, whom he met clerking at the Supreme Court. Josh and Erin have three children, Elijah, Blaise, and Abigail. They live in Ozark, Missouri. Legacy Dads is proud to be partnered with the Christian Parenting Network of podcasts. Sean is also known for his roles in Boondock Saints (original and #2) and multiple other screen roles. He is also an author ("Jane 2") and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Of highest importance, however, is his role as husband to Lauren and dad to Lola, Porter, and Charlie. Listen in to this no-holds-barred conversation, as they discuss the movie "Nefarious," topics like abortion and public school, the importance of self-defense, and being a "seed" for the kingdom as opposed to being a "germ." One of the most common conditions men deal with today is anxiety. Studies show that men and women handle anxiety differently - from how they react to it to how they try to deal with it. There are some topics that we could talk about over and over and over. This is one of them. The world wants us to be prideful - whether it's because of our personal or professional accomplishments, or on social media, or whatever else...if we aren't touting ourselves, then we are weird. Well, be proud to be weird, then. Because humility is weird. All throughout the bible, we read of the importance of humility in the Christian life, and it is absolutely applicable to men in all stages of life. When we live with arrogance, everything we do is all about "look at me." But when we live with humility (and confidence), everything is about "look at you!" We should constantly strive to not keep the attention on ourselves, but focused on others (discipleship and evangelism) and on the power, love, grace, and mercy of Jesus. Listen in to this episode to revisit this topic once again! Legacy Dads is proud to be partnered with the Christian Parenting Network of Podcasts. In this episode, we had the pleasure to sit down with Jason Ritchie, author of Oh God, Why Can't I Stop? Are you sick and tired of failing? It’s frustrating to fail against the sin of this world. It’s even worse failing against temptation, fear, and faithlessness as a believer in Christ. You are not alone. Jason Ritchie never felt so “not right” with God as during his biggest failure. He cried out in distress, “Oh God, why can’t I stop failing? I can’t seem to stop. Though I pray, though I study, though I return to You, I still sin, and I don’t want to.” In the aftermath, he wondered: “Will You still keep me? Will You still love me? Will You still use me?” What does God say to these questions? Oh God, Why Can’t I Stop? examines God’s fundamental response to failure through the story of Peter’s denial of Christ. It explores the Apostle Paul’s lament in Romans 7:19: “For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.” You can find Jason's book and more information here: https://www.stellarwriter.com/jason Legacy Dads is proud to be partnered with the Christian Parenting Network of podcasts. Porn is bad for you. Again...porn is bad for you! That's what this episode is about. Even though we all know the toxicity of the issue, it continues to be a problem. In this interview we had the pleasure to talk with Aaron Tredway about his book "Don't Miss Your Life: The Secret to Significance." Live life to the fullest. Nobody wants to look back on a disappointing, unfulfilled life. Why then are so many of us dissatisfied despite our goals and continual striving? In Don’t Miss Your Life, Aaron Tredway reveals we’re aimed at the wrong target: success. Despite our pursuit of something more, we are stuck chasing our idea of success instead of true significance. But we don’t have to be rich or famous to lead a life of meaning in God’s kingdom. In this practical guide, Aaron shares his personal discovery of the secret to significance and invites you to live the life God created you for. Learn to recognize the exhausting emptiness of pursuing success, find liberation from a life without purpose, pursue God’s glory instead of unrewarding self-focus, and choose significance over success one step at a time. You were made for a meaningful, deeply fulfilling life, and you can achieve just that! Find out more about Aaron at his website: https://www.aarontredway.com . A few episodes ago (season 7, episodes 13 and 14) we discussed humility and vulnerability. In this podcast we discuss authenticity and how it correlates with those other two characteristics. In order to be effective in Christian community, we need to be authentic. Being authentic means being true to one's own personality, spirit, or character. Our sinful nature tells us to hide our truth, to not be authentic. But, as we discussed with both of the other qualities, when we are authentic with who we are and with those around us, the only thing that happens is spiritual growth in the image of God. Listen in as the guys discuss this character trait, and see if there are any areas where you could open this up in your life!

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thess 5:16-18). On January 2, 2023, football fans witnessed Damar Hamlin suffer a severe medical emergency, being resuscitated on the field and taken to the hospital where he went through a miraculous recovery. In situations like this, it's important for legacy dads (and moms) to use it as a teachable moment. When we see something like that happen, how do we rejoice? How do we pray? And how do we give thanks? Even in the circumstances where it is difficult to do any of those three things, we are still called to do so because it is God's will for us who are in Christ Jesus. Listen in as the guys discuss the incident and talk about how to apply this particular verse into our daily activities!

We had the pleasure to interview Fox and Rob Richardson about their upcoming book "Time: The Untold Story of the Love That Held Us Together When Incarceration Kept Us Apart." This is yet another example that there is nothing that God cannot shine through. The twenty-one years that kept Rob separated from his wife, Fox, and their six sons was long enough. As Rob survived two decades at America's bloodiest penitentiary and Fox raised their sons solo, they never stopped fighting for Rob's freedom and for their futures against the statistical odds. All the while, it was love that carried them through. The Academy Award-nominated documentary Time introduced audiences to Fox and Rob, who riveted audiences with their relentless fight for each other and justice, despite America's broken prison system. This book tells the rest of their story. In alternating voices and intimate detail, Fox and Rob reveal what the film does not--how a person can cultivate the radical love needed to see them through any hardship and how miracles can happen on the way. As they peel back the layers of their unforgettable love story, you'll discover the secrets of perseverance and the power of a resilience that is founded on faith in a God who never gives up on us. The Legacy Dads continue the conversation with Jeff, Joe, and Phil to discuss the ways in which Christians, who are living in their true kingdom identity, are called to mission. Whatever sector of life you are in (there are 7), God calls Christians to "therefore go and make disciples." That involves sacrifice, effort, and most importantly, full faith in where God leads you. Listen in to this episode to hear some truth-bombs being dropped by all the guests. If you aren't inspired to go and do something for the kingdom of God after this conversation, we aren't sure what else we can do! Step 1: shed the false identity and assume your God-given kingdom identity. Step 2: get into true community with other Christians (not fellowship...but actual community...where you're vulnerable with others). Step 3: listen for God...He is always talking. He'll point you where you need to go. Step 4: Go! In this episode, the guys interview Dr. Kathy Koch about her new book "Resilient Kids: Raising Them to Embrace Life with Confidence." From her website: Dr. Kathy Koch (pronounced “cook”) is the Founder and President of Celebrate Kids, Inc., based in Fort Worth, TX, and a cofounder of Ignite the Family, based in Alpharetta, GA. She has influenced thousands of parents, teachers, and children in 30 countries through keynote messages, seminars, chapels, and other events. She is proud to be represented by the Ambassador Speakers Bureau of Nashville, TN. She is a featured speaker for the Great Homeschool Conventions, on the faculty of Summit Ministries, and a frequent presenter for Care Net, Axis, and other organizations. She speaks regularly at schools, churches, and pregnancy resource centers. Dr. Kathy earned a Ph.D. in reading and educational psychology from Purdue University. She was a tenured associate professor of education at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, a teacher of second graders, a middle school coach, and a school board member before becoming a full-time conference and keynote speaker in 1991. She has loved Jesus for years and her faith and desire to serve and glorify God is the foundation of her ministry. About Resilient Kids: Children need to believe their future is bright. The more disappointments they don’t recover well from, the less likely they are to dream. When they do not process challenging experiences well it can lead to defeat, rather than encourage them to grow and mature. Far too many children don’t grasp their strengths and, as a result do not believe they can overcome negative encounters. Apathy sets in. Discouragement persists. Arguments rage. Mental health suffers. Children need to be resilient and when they develop this ability and make wise choices it becomes part of their character. Furthermore, they need parents who help them to learn from negative experiences and who allow them a certain measure of struggle. In Resilient Kids moms and dads will learn the power and purpose of resilience and how to parent so as to make it more likely their children will utilize this character quality. While Christianity and the Church is growing in some parts of the world, there is a noticeable decline of Christianity in western churches. Why is this? In this first of a three-part series on modern-day discipleship, we interview Joe Svoboda. Joe is the founder of "Reproducible Discipleship." Having served as a discipleship consultant for ministries all over the United States, Africa, Asia and SE Asia, Joe has had the privilege of watching believers grow in discipleship competence with results that transcended cultural barriers. Additionally, he has seen those disciples go on to disciple others, who are now discipling others, who are now discipling others. This generational view of disciple-making is one way in which the western church can start to experience the revival that is definitely needed. As the calendar flips to a new year, many people often take the opportunity to make resolutions to change something, or do something, or not do something...because they believe something about themselves that guides their behavior. That's all well and good, but if all of this is based on a false identity that we have come to believe, then any resolution we make will likely fall apart. In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss the importance of realizing our "kingdom identity" and listening to who (or what) God calls us to be. On the coattails of last week's episode on vulnerability, Dave and Dante get into the godly trait of humility. It's not weakness, and it's not holding your tongue. It's the opposite of selfishness and pride. And if we want to be more Christ-like, then we need to have humility in our lives. In this episode, Dave and Dante hit the topic of fear, shame, and guilt. It's not the first time the Legacy Dads have talked about these three emotions. And it probably won't be the last. When so much damage happens because of actions and behaviors rooted in these emotions, it's important for all of us to continually strive to recognize and react in a way that helps us to lead our families and lives in a manner that ultimately glorifies God. Listen in as the guys discuss some scripture and some recent interaction and how we can leave a legacy protected against these difficult emotions.

Three days after the Dobbs' decision was released by the Supreme Court of the United States, Anderson and DeSanctis' book "Tearing Us Apart: How Abortion Harms Everything and Solves Nothing" hit the shelves. In their book they describe the fact that there is hope in the ruins of Roe v. Wade. From the description, "Abortion hollows out marriage and the family. It undermines the rule of law and corrupts our political system. It turns healers into executioners and 'women's health' into a euphemism for extermination." If you are a Legacy Dad looking for ways to defend the pro-life / anti-abortion stance, this book is for you.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." That's what it says. It doesn't say "separation of church and state." It doesn't say that anywhere in the Constitution of the United States of America. So as a Legacy Dad, how do we correct those who use the common phrase to attack faith? How do we inform them that the founding fathers actually based a lot of foundation of the country on having a proper vertical relationship with God Almighty? Listen in as Dave and Dante discuss the topic in light of everything we are seeing happening in today's daily news cycle.

In this week's episode, we sit down with the man behind the "Dude Dad" platforms, Taylor Calmus. He's got a new book out all around helping new Dads learn how to get ready for the new baby that will be in their life Numerous apps and books exist to help expectant parents understand their baby’s development by comparing their unborn child to a raspberry or a stalk of broccoli, but Taylor Calmus takes issue with that. First off, your baby is not some wimpy little vegetable. Your baby is a hardcore little lug nut who is straight-up growing organs on a weekly basis. Second, how big is a stalk of broccoli? And what the heck is a kumquat? Clearly this situation calls for a better approach. Enter . . . "A Dude’s Guide to Baby Size: What to Expect and How to Prep for Dads-to-Be." In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss how God uses us in the phases of our life - whether they are positive or negative - and will always turn them into something better...especially when we say "yes" to God. Dante is closing up his tenure as an Elder at his church and discusses some of the lessons-learned, and Dave talks about the importance of not just "going through the motions" at church. Highlighting a book by R.C. Sproul, the guys talk about five spiritual disciplines, and not shying away from being the "Jesus freak" when it comes the the spiritual discipline you enjoy the most. Bottom line...wait until you see what God is able to do after you say yes! We’re so excited for the Perfectly, Imperfect Christian Parenting event and will be speaking virtually at the event this weekend. As Christian parents we know how important it is to raise our children with a picture of God’s love for them every day. But most days we’re stretched too thin to do more than the status quo. That leaves us feeling reactive instead of proactive, never growing into the parents we know we were created to be. And, the highlight reel we see on social media doesn’t help. It only leaves us feeling more hopeless and inadequate, seeing a facade of perfection in others lives we’ll never measure up to.
