And… SCENE. We came, we ushered in a glorious age of elucidating female desire, coined a few salient expressions of desire, and poof! like magic, we were gone. That’s right, we did it, folks: we wrapped up Thirst Aid Kit as a weekly podcast. We thank you for your ears, your enthusiasm, your tweets, your drabbles, your Tumblr Asks, your marriage proposals (1) and your gifs. This final episode is a song of gratitude and pride. Two Black women talking about female desire, race, and culture week in, week out? Yeah, we did THAT. What a glorious few years. But please do not despair. This is just a perfect example of one door closing in a mansion full of other doors and windows. The weekly podcast is ending, but we remain. Keep an eye on our Twitter and Tumblr for updates on what we’re up to and where. This isn’t the end, but we will miss you. Stay thirsty; the world needs it. ♥️In our Plus segment, we share just a few of the Thirst Objects we weren’t able to get to during the run of the show: Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Aldis Hodge, Avan Jogia, and Rob Delaney. We couldn’t give them full episodes but here are some quick tasty morsels to hint at what might have been. We’re on Twitter @ThirstAidKit. Our music is by Tanya Morgan. Matthew Rhys’ energy is complex and layered, like a roasted pepper: there’s spice, there’s heat, and there’s smoke. In Rhys, there is a balance of all our favorite things — superb eye and face acting, characters that know how to yearn, tightly coiled power in a stern shell, and talent as deep as a Welsh valley. We talk about his career-defining work as a weary spy on The Americans, his turn as an older Mr Darcy in Death Comes To Pemberley, his laughter on The Wine Show and Archer, and so much more besides. Top notes of Château Rhys are: intense knowingness and barely banked passion. Pour us a glass, and leave the bottle. On this week’s Slate Plus, Nichole makes Bim break down something that has escaped her all these years: the appeal of Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy and Pride and Prejudice itself. Bim, despite being shocked to her marrow, obliges. Our music is by Tanya Morgan. You can find show notes, and more on our Tumblr at thirstaidkitpodcast.tumblr.com. Thirst is a broad church—did you know that? Which is why we can cackle like dirty aunties at filthy innuendos but also relish the pure PG-13 sweetness of a show like Sweet Magnolias. *Stefon from SNL voice* This show has everything: the long term female friendship of Helen, Maddie, and Dana Sue PLUS smouldering looks between exes; the exploration of something new after a drought; on-off entanglements that cancel out good judgment; all wrapped in a SFW picnic basket of subtle, Southern thirst-language and behaviour. We break down what the show gets right, and why we are craving it so much in 2020.Our Plus segment brings back “Explain Yourself” with special guest (and former TAK producer) TK Dutes. TK breaks down her love for Sampha and Niecy Nash, but she didn’t have to do much to convince us to feel the same way. As usual, you can follow us on Twitter @ThirstAidKit. Okay. You might be saying “who?” but trust us. Marc Rebillet’s rising star is one to watch. Using a loop machine, a keyboard, and a strong WiFi connection, Marc live-streams his way across platforms and into that delightful intersection where humor, undeniable talent, and thirst meet. He improvises songs based on suggestions from his audience which means sometimes he sings about processing grief and sometimes he sings about buttholes. We love a man with range. In our Plus segment, we try to break down the lure of musicians. Why do we love guitar players and drummers so much? Why does Nichole want you to give those who play brass instruments a chance? What is it about drummers’ forearms that Bim wants you to know? Become a Slate Plus member and find out! As usual, you can follow us on Twitter @ThirstAidKit. Our music is by Tanya Morgan. Every so often, the thirst stars align, or the thirst goddesses smile down on us, or whatever you want to call it... and well, it all came together for us this week. We manifested a long held TAK desire — we got to interview Jake Johnson! ::scream:: He told us about his new adult animated show Hoops, working on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, and why he thinks the pandemic has affected the way people see Nick Miller. (Please forgive the occasional echo that comes up—we’re all tech-wrangling in a pandemic!)In Slate Plus, we spoke to a few of our very favourite writers of romance and romantic comedy novels — Rebekah Weatherspoon, Alisha Rai, Mhairi McFarlane, Jasmine Guillory, and Alyssa Cole — and asked them three burning questions about romance world building, meet-cutes, fave tropes, and how the pandemic is changing the way they write. As usual, you can follow us on Twitter @ThirstAidKit. We’ve long talked about our love for romance novels and in this episode we are going deep: talking about the changing aesthetics of romance novels, the increased visibility of our favourite tropes and sub-genres, and the heroes and heroines that we love to see.In our Plus segment, we take begrudging inspiration from our times and look at how movies have treated love at a distance. The Truth About Cats and Dogs, 40 Days and 40 Nights, and The Age of Innocence all keep our main couples apart somehow and yet they manage to find ways to ease the physical ache of love and attraction. It’s never a bad move to hear from our thirsty yet oh-so-talented Thirst Buckets! Our audience is the best audience because they send us drabbles that make us swoon and giggle and we immediately put them aside so we can share the wealth on air. That’s what we’re doing with this episode— sharing listener-submitted drabbles about John Boyega, Aidan Turner, Pedro Pascal, Andy Samberg, and Seth Rogen. We also answer some questions from Tumblr and a couple of Thirst Sommelier requests. One listener needs someone with a Lin-Manuel Miranda vibe and someone else wants to replace Terry Crews on her thirst mood board. Luckily, we have a few suggestions we think will make everyone happy. It’s Bim’s turn to delve into the roots of her thirst habits — and naturally, it turned out to be a journey through TV and film! Watching Tevin Campbell sing to Ashley on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and falling in love with Dwayne Wayne on A Different World led naturally to a love for Capeside’s finest, Pacey Witter… and also the Blue Moon Agency’s David Addison (Bruce Willis). We also trace Bim’s love for a Strong Nose to David Duchovny (Red Shoe Diaries) and ER’s Dr Luka Kovac (Goran Višnjić). Thirst is complex, y’all. In our Plus segment, we take a look at some of the cliche ‘sexy time’ tropes in film and TV and why they work (or not): the wanton clearing of a desk (hello, Friends and also The Good Wife); the full-bodied slam against the wall/bookcase (Atonement, Always Be My Maybe, The Night Manager) and why we do NOT fool around with food. This episode will make you laugh and think and hopefully, reach out to your friends for no reason at all. We talk about formative crushes A LOT of the show, so we decided to do a little digging… Who, exactly, was the first person to indoctrinate Nichole into the ways of long hair? Why does she seem to like a french fry of a man? Who sparked her love of wide mouths and thick eyebrows? All are questions only Prince, Al B. Sure! and Maxwell can answer… hopefully in falsetto. In our Plus segment, we take a look at the music from pop culture that marked us. We can never forget songs from Something New, Love and Basketball, Misfits, The Best Man, Cruel Intentions, or Mrs. Fletcher. Join Slate Plus to find out why! Every movie we watch can’t be a part of the Criterion Collection, okay? Sometimes you have to suffer through a movie to gorge yourself on eye candy and that’s perfectly fine! Michele Morrone in 365 Days, Brad Pitt in Troy, Alexander Skarsgård and Djimon Hounsou in The Legend of Tarzan make the suffering worth it. Maybe? For our Slate Plus segment, we put Bim on the Thirst Therapy couch to get to the root of why domesticity is so important in her drabbles. As usual, you can follow us on Twitter @ThirstAidKit. We always had an eye on John Boyega, but for a slew of reasons conditions never quite felt… right. Until now. Now we want to talk about how he’s grown his hair, has been unburdened by a Disney contract, and is finally experiencing the kind of glow up that comes with learning from your mistakes and being given room to grow into your Yoruba destiny. Plus! Fanfic Wars makes its triumphant post-hiatus return, and Nichole’s entry is a straight up murder attempt. Damn.In our Thirst Ais Kit Plus segment this week, we’re talking about a ‘One Time Fancy’ and this time it’s… Kumail Nanjiani. We’re going on hiatus! But before we go…we spend a little time with our favorite TV couples from our quarantine binge rewatches… you know, the ones that make us blush or sigh or yearn. So shoutout to Leslie and Ben from Parks & Rec, the original nerdy love match as well as Ruby and Stan from Good Girls, the couple that makes major sacrifices for their family. And from New Girl, a twofer: Nick & Jess, of course, but also Schmidt and Cece, whose love affair was perfectly breadcrumbed across seasons.Slate Plus members get a bonus segment on Thirst Aid Kit each week. For a long time, it’s felt like superpowers only went to lantern-jawed white men… but if we urge you to consider two up-and-coming Thirst Objects: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II — who started his comic book adaptation career as a villain in Aquaman before donning the blue paint of Watchmen’s Dr Manhattan — and Simu Liu, who went from Toronto car rental outfit in Kim’s Convenience to “master of kung fu” Shang-Chi in the upcoming Marvel movie. Shazad Latif and Manny Montana have paid their dues and it’s time to give them the recognition they deserve. From Spooks to Penny Dreadful to Star Trek: Discovery, Shazad has shown he has the range. But it’s as Ash Tyler that his vulnerability and yearning leave us utterly captivated. Manny Montana has been working his way to Good Girls since 2008, and his character Rio is worth the wait. Manny makes Rio vibrate with barely-controlled passion, keeping us on the edge of our seats. We’ve all been sheltering in place for some time now, which has given us ample time to think about who our ideal quarantine buddies would be. Who would our Thirst Buckets like to be holed up with in a cabin made for two? The Thirst Object field was diverse: constant TB-favourite Tessa Thompson came up, as did Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding, Westworld’s Rodrigo Santoro, and even Jidenna’s sweet musical stylings (among other things)... No drabbles this week but Nichole and Bim also revealed their own choices for optimal quarantine activities. Maddie and David. Will and Alicia. Ichabod and Abbie. Brennan and Booth. Moonlighting, The Good Wife, Sleepy Hollow, and Bones all showed us the magic of UST-- unresolved sexual tension. In most of these examples, we got the kissing (and more) we’d been craving, and these television shows knew how to string us along until we thought we’d die from longing. That’s the hallmark of a job well done-- transferring the desire of a show’s leading couple to its audiences. Hey Thirst Buckets! We’re taking a break right now, resting up to do some intensive thirsting. But until then, we’re sharing some of our favorite episodes from over the years. In this one, we talk about Ryan Coogler, Bay Area Bae.Ryan Coogler is not your average Hollywood auteur, seeing as he is a) incredibly talented; b) apparently generous and gracious; c) fine as hell and d) fresh out of the Bay. All those things — and more — are what make him so very special. In this episode we take a closer look at Mr Coogler's back catalogue and back story, how he interacts with the women in his casts and crews, and what that accent of his does to our [REDACTED].Enjoy, and we’ll be back with a brand new episode next week.Learn more about your ad choices. What a year 2019 has been! After a 9-month hiatus, Thirst Aid Kit found a new home at Slate and we had much to catch up on— so much so that we weren’t able to get to as many listener-submitted drabbles or Thirst Sommelier requests as we wanted. In this episode, we correct that oversight by answering some questions from our tumblr page, helping a couple of Thirst Buckets find a new Nick Miller from New Girl and a new Nicholas Braun (aka Cousin Greg of Succession) to crush on, and by reading some drabbles about Chris Evans, Frank Ocean, and Chris Pang. We also highlight some key moments in thirst: Manny Jacinto’s infamous jawline, Keanu Reeves’ Renaissance, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s everything, and Chris Evans’ knitwear in Knives Out! Thank you to all of our listeners, old and new, for lusting out loud with us. We’ll be back in the new year, and until then, stay thirsty!Follow us on Twitter @ThirstAidKit. Does Randall Park know what he does to us? We only ask because whether it’s performing a classic prank as Asian Jim on The Office or punching Keanu Reeves in Always Be My Maybe, Randall keeps showing us he’s one to watch, whether on network TV, in lesser known indie films, or in superhero franchises. He’s an “overnight” success only if you typically sleep for 15 years a night — and the result is he leaves his fingerprint on every script he touches. Plus he’s got the cutest smile, the warmest eyes, and that low key ‘grown man heat’ we’ll never get tired of. PS: Get ready for Fanfic Wars. This one’s a banger. You’ve been warned! Wyatt Cenac knows funny. You may have heard him in everything from Bojack Horseman to Archer and Bob’s Burgers. He was a writer for King of the Hill, a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and starred in Barry Jenkins’ first full-length feature film Medicine for Melancholy. He’s also starred in his own stand-up specials, one of which, Wyatt Cenac: Brooklyn, was nominated in 2015 for Best Comedy Album (Grammy’s). Like we said, this man knows his funny. Hey, Thirst Buckets! In case you missed it, we were featured on another Slate podcast called How To! With Charles Duhigg, and we want to share it with you here. Traci is a single, professional woman looking for love. She builds furniture in her spare time, enjoys dancing and can’t believe she has to devote an hour each day to swiping through photos and sending flirty texts. Traci’s quest for romance is made harder by the fact that, as a black woman, she has to put up with more nonsense than usual. In this episode of How To! your very own Thirst Aid Kit hosts share their insights on modern desire. They revamp Traci’s profile, swap stories and share tips about how to thrive at online dating.Subscribe to How To! here, or wherever you get your podcasts: https://slate.com/podcasts/how-toSlate Plus members get bonus segments and ad-free podcast feeds. The thing about Jake Johnson is: so. many. people. fancy. him! Is it because he legitimately looks like a guy you might bump into at your neighbourhood bar? Or is it because he serves up a specifically appealing mix of gruff, grumpy heat (with truly *superb* onscreen kiss abilities!) that just makes you want to join him on the sofa and rail at modern life? We discuss his many forms and charms, from New Girl, to Into the Spider-Verse via Easy etc. We also have a couple of original drabbles that might make you sweat a little.Follow us on Twitter @ThirstAidKit. You know it, you see it: there’s something about Lakeith. It’s there in Atlanta, in Get Out, in Someone Great… the list goes on. It’s actually many things — ace acting ability, a bucketload of confident, quirky charm, and a presence that belies his slight and lovely frame, all in a relatively short career so far. We wade through all these thirst-inducing attributes, as well as what it means to fancy a Thirst Object when they’ve messed up… We also have a reader drabble about an old TAK fave, as well as our own new Lakeith-centric fanfic. We say Sudeikis, you say Mantzoukas, let's call the whole thing off! Yes, it's a 'two for one' deal on this week's episode, in which we examine two funnymen named Jason and figure out their very distinct and very different brands of sex appeal. Sudeikis is all charm in a bottle and Mantzoukas has his wildman persona, and yet both satisfy our varied thirsts. Finally! We have the return of Thirst Sommelier and this time we’re helping someone find a suitable replacement for Shia LaBeouf, “good boy-bad man.” Fanfic Wars gets cozy and, of course, silly. Happy Halloween! This week there are no tricks, and only BIG OLE TREATS thanks to the top tier selection of Thirst Objects gathered. We asked our friend, writer and covert thirst-bucket Driadonna Roland to help us break down the dudes that make her weak in the knees… We started on Baldwin’s Beale Street with Stephan (StePHOINE) James, pivoted to the Boardwalk for Bobby ‘something’s about to go down’ Cannavale and traversed the Jabari kingdom for Winston ‘dem thighs!’ Duke. Fanfic Wars was a mixed bag of thirst as usual — don’t forget to vote for your fave drabble! As usual, you can follow us on Twitter @ThirstAidKit. Nichole is @tnwhiskeywoman and Bim is @bimadew. Buttoned Up. Taciturn. No-Nonsense. We all know the magnetism of a stern man, and how it compels thirst. Writer, benevolent internet queen and genteel bisexual lady Nicole Cliffe joined us to discuss her many thirsts, both real and fictional — from her formative crush on Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully on The X Files to Mindhunter’s Bill Tench. We also made a stop at the door of stoic-but-filled-with-rage KGB agent Ilya Kuryakin (played by Armie Hammer) in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Last but not least, we explored the flinty charm of 1920s-but-modern Detective Inspector Jack Robinson from Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. Both our drabbles are caretaking masterpieces, if we do say so ourselves. You can follow us on Twitter @ThirstAidKit. Nichole is @tnwhiskeywoman and Bim is @bimadew. Our music is by Tanya Morgan. We never wanted a hall pass for Zack Morris but our thirst for Mark-Paul Gosselaar grew from a tiny acorn into a mighty oak — JUST LIKE HE DID. From Pitch to the Passage, we explore what makes MPG the MVP: is it the well-groomed beard? The thick thighs? Or maybe the fact that he’s starred opposite so many black women and girls that’s got our foofs a-tingle…This week on Fanfic Wars, MPG saves Nichole, relaxes with Bim after a fan convention. If you like your comedy packaged in a bundle of silly, offbeat joy, then this week’s Thirst Object should appeal. We’re talking about Oscar-nominated director, writer and actor Taika Waititi. The lesser-spotted New Zealand silver-haired fox knows that going through the funny bone is the best way to our hearts — and brings a child-like glee to filmmaking that makes us want to go on an adventure with him. We’re back, thirst-buckets! We were away for nine months, gestating this thirst baby, and now we have returned… and named it Dan Levy! The co-creator and showrunner of the Emmy-nominated comedy Schitt’s Creek is our Thirst Object, and we have lots to talk about: his forever-coiffed hair, his intense eyebrows (inherited from his equally lushly-follicled father Eugene), his smirk, that makes us want to share secrets with him… We talk about how he actively creates a world in which homophobia is acknowledged but not made central to identity, and how kindness is the greatest aphrodisiac on earth. Yes, even greater than Keanu’s hair flop.We also did a quick rundown of what we missed during our hiatus: America’s Ass™, the eyebrows, and cheekbones of Crazy Rich Asians, and what the heck sweater-wearing Hulk would be allowed to get away with, were he to ask… This show is sponsored by Cloud10Click here to Download: Work in Progress with Sophia BushLearn more about your ad choices. It's our season 3 finale and let's just get straight to it: We've got Wilson Bethel AKA Wade Kinsella AKA Bullseye in the building! What a delightful, funny, thoughtful man he is. We could barely maintain our professionalism. We talk about everything from his spoken word beginnings to his chronic shirtlessness. How much of him is Wade Kinsella, Hart of Dixie's charming bad boy? How did he prepare himself to play Benjamin Poindexter, Matt Murdock's disturbing counterpart in Netflix's gone-too-soon Daredevil? You'll get these answers and so much more in this episode. Be sure to stay tuned for Fanfic Wars, which we dedicated to our most embarrassing Thirst Objects. This week's episode is all about a certain even-complexioned, old-fashioned dreamboat of a Thirst Object, Boris Kodjoe! Half German, half Ghanaian, and all American, Mr K is a tall drink of water we have been quietly thirsting after for more than a decade, bless him. Boris Kodjoe has the longevity and (thirst) range. So we went deep on how his strong eyebrows, deep voice, and clean musculature wins us — and actors such as Sanaa Lathan, Nicole Ari Parker and Gugu Mbatha-Raw —over every single time. Plus, Fanfic Wars, in which Boris does... things for us. ::eyes emoji:: And finally, you can speak your thirst with your whole chest – TAK has merch!Do you need help figuring out your next crush? Almost all of us can make our own hair, but there's something about the way the Thirst Objects of this episode grow the stuff on their faces that required close and thirsty examination. This bumper episode starts with John Krasinski, who has been steadily building his thirst-worthiness (and those pecs) since he was (Slim) Jim in The Office. What is it about that beard that flicked a switch? Then we moved onto Will Smith, who transitioned from the Fresh Prince into an internet uncle, but also sometimes has the facial hair of... a zaddy? Finally, we visited Kensington Palace to ponder the allure of Prince Harry's ginger beard, and how it thoroughly seduced us into overlooking some past fuckery. THE POWER OF BEARDS, MAN. Things get *very* thirsty this ep, and that's before we even get to Fanfic Wars. Fasten your wig extra securely: the drabbles are A Lot this week. It’s true that we have thirst-buckets all over the world, but Thirst Aid Kit went truly international for the first time — doing a live show at the Hot Docs Podcast Festival In Toronto! Yes, we took our unique brand of lusting out loud to the Great White North, and were met with all the warmth of our Canadian thirst team. We were ably aided by two fabulously thirsty guests: TK Matunda and Kyrell Grant, who shared with us their knowledge and appreciation for thirst objects as varied as Jemaine Clement, Richard Ayoade, Donald Glover, Ezra Miller, and Stanley ‘The Tooch’ Tucci. There were gasps of delight and impromptu dancing on stage, plus we played live Thirst Sommelier with our lovely audience, live drabble writing and reading in Fanfic Wars (with a twist), and of course, all the dirty auntie chuckles you could ever want. We never like to rank crushes, but we finally decided to talk about the Hollywood Chrises: Chris Pine, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Messina. (We think we've covered Chris Evans thoroughly enough in our season one finale so feel free to re-listen to that episode because we had to give the other fellas some love). Pine is just fine. This one goes out to our nerdy thirst-buckets — because we went to New York Comic Con again! Shoutout to Cher and Preeti AKA the very generous cohosts of the SyFy Fangrrls Strong Female Characters podcast, because they invited us to be part of a live show discussing all things thirst and fandom. We have a short clip from the live show in today's episode but you can listen to the whole hilarious thing on their feed (@syfyfangrrlspod). Also: remember how Bim loves Rick and Michonne on The Walking Dead? Well, we have a brief but wondrous conversation with Richonne fanfic writer extraordinaire, Cake By The Pound, and Kia of the excellent podcast Two Dead Chicks, to discuss the secret of Rick's, um, walk. ::eyes emoji:: Finally, some truly blessed listener correspondence that made us tear up and blow kisses. We got some pals in for this week's bumper episode: our friends from Nancy! That's right — Kathy Tu and Tobin Low from the acclaimed podcast came to talk about thirst and joy and representation and yes, more thirst. On the docket: the incredible way Angelina Jolie came into her own, the astonishing symmetry of Manny Jacinto's jawline and cheekbones, Janelle Monae's supreme competence being the sexiest thing on earth, and Cary Fukunaga's uncanny ability to make a turtleneck the hottest sartorial choice going. AMONG OTHER THINGS. No Fanfic Wars, but! A reader-submitted drabble to get you through the week. ::eyes emoji:: PS: listen to the Nancy podcast on WNYC!Do you need help figuring out your next crush? Sterling K. Brown gives us such an overflow of feelings that we needed to bring in reinforcements to discuss how incredible he is. Some inarguable facts: 1) summer is the hot season; 2) you need to drink more water; and 3) Lee Pace is symmetrically blessed. On this week's episode, we go deep on that last one! What is it about Lee we love so much? Is it his broad, broad shoulders, or his pleasing height? His deep, chest-warming voice? Or maybe it's his changeable face, which can transmit total menace or perfect sweetness, depending on the script? We talk about his varied career too— Wonderfalls, The Fall, Pushing Daisies, Halt and Catch Fire etc — all in an effort to pin down the source of his appeal. Plus: Fanfic Wars is a real scorching treat this week, so grab a fan along with your headphones and GET INTO IT.Do you need help figuring out your next crush? Drop us a line! WE'RE BACK! How was your summer? Perhaps you spent a good chunk of that time falling in love with one chin scar-having, kombucha-drinking, popcorn-moving dreamboat by the name of Peter Kavinsky. What a coincidence – us too! Join us as we go on a journey to explore the many virtues of Peter Kavinsky's 3D avatar, actor Noah Centineo, whose baby-Ruffalo vibe feels genuine, sincere and entirely ADOROBOH. Our last summer treat features Raleigh Ritchie (aka Jacob Anderson aka Grey Worm from Game of Thrones). Raleigh may have a hard time thinking of himself as a Thirst Object but he’s cute, shy, and multitalented. How could we not swoon over him? With Bim on leave in London, Nichole asks Raleigh about his musical influences (Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child, Musiq Soulchild, The Maccabees, and more), his own singing career, what’s on his baby-making playlist, and the significance of portraying a eunuch who falls in love. Let Raleigh’s soothing voice tuck you in as we get ready for our season three premiere next week and be sure to check out his single “Time in a Tree.”Do you need help figuring out your next crush? Danielle needs a new cute little nerd like Adam Scott. Becky has a very special wish when it comes to Jemaine Clement. Bridget and “Gossip Girl” want a new Henry Cavill (don’t we all?). And Jen’s gotta have someone with a Kylie Bunbury flair. We hope you like our recommendations and that you’re staying thirsty but hydrated. What's in a voice? Well, A LOT. In this, our season finale (don't cry, we'll be back!), we are paying close attention to the very special voices that make us feel stuff. _And thangs_. We go South, and sample the very specific delights of Big KRIT, travel to England for a slice of Andrew Lincoln's honeyed tones, hop a plane to Denmark to swoon at the voicebox talents of Mads Mikkelsen, and land back in the velvet embrace of Jeffrey Wright's rasp. Along the way, we reflect on Kathleen Turner's husky whisper, Cree Summers' epic career, and Jennifer Tilly's starlet's twinkle. And there's Fanfic Wars, obviously, and well, your ears are in for even more of a treat.Do you need help figuring out your next crush? Drop us a line! We highlighted Rahul Kohli in our "More, More, More" episode, which went over so well, we decided to give you... well, more. So we got Rahul on FaceTime, before he'd even finished his morning coffee, to ask him why he's so dang hot. He explained his Big Geek Energy, his man-crushes, what it's like auditioning for roles in the UK vs the US, the significance of playing Ravi Chakrabarti on iZombie, and his efforts to get black women on the show. We don't have any video of our chat, but trust us: he wakes up flawless. Because this is a special episode, we did something a little different with drabbles this week. Get ready for Rahul's morning voice, Thirst Buckets. It's almost too much to handle.Do you need help figuring out your next crush? Drop us a line! If you watched Dirty Dancing and it didn’t change your life in some way, R.I.P. because you are clearly dead and we need to send flowers to your family. Patrick Swayze epitomized a certain type of graceful masculinity, a Marlboro man who can dance en pointe. From The Outsiders to Roadhouse to Ghost and beyond, we watched Patrick Swayze change our ideas of what masculinity could be. Plus he was so handsome to watch: those slim hips, the wide shoulders. You can rescue us from any corner, Patrick. Fanfic Wars will take you there and we take you out on some fan mail. Get ready. Do you need help figuring out your next crush? Drop us a line! The thing about Mark Ruffalo is that he's so hot, it can be a little bit confusing. To help you make sense of your emotions, we tried to analyze the roots of his appeal. Whether he's the soft bad boy (You Can Count on Me, The Kids Are All Right) or the brain (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Avengers) or our sweet internet boyfriend (13 Going on 30, Just Like Heaven), Ruffalo retains an air of lived-in sexiness... kind of like a younger Detective Columbo, who can't keep a (Marvel) secret. This week, Fanfic Wars has two very different scenarios: hotel room vs messy couch. We keep warning you but this time we mean it: listen responsibly.Do you need help figuring out your next crush? We know, we know. Another British Tom? YES. We had to put Tom Hardy under our microscope to examine his ability to disappear into roles like Heathcliffe from Wuthering Heights to Eames in Inception to Tuck in This Means War, one of the best worst rom-coms ever. Tom’s made some difficult choices in life but his love of dogs is pure and endearing. His raspy voice changes with every role but what remains is its intensity... and that mouth! What it do, Tom? We have a delightful Thirst Sommelier request from someone who needs a new Shia LaBeouf in their life. Fanfic Wars might burn your brain but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Here it is, thirst-buckets! Sebastian Stan has easily been one of our most thirsted-for Thirst Objects, (our Tumblr askbox has been FULL of him this season) and we decided to explore. Gather round, thirst-buckets, and let's go on a journey that will traverse the source of Mr. Stan's desirability. Is it his hot douchebag face that somehow delivers pretty, Ken-like blankness just as well as tearful high emotion? Is it the way he gets all up in your space, TalkingRealClose, right before he kisses you? Is it his hair — athlete-short or Bucky-long? Or is it all in that sinful bottom lip, the one that made us look up the recipe for traditional Romanian sarmale? Warning: this week’s drabbles blew up all our measuring equipment. Ryan Coogler is not your average Hollywood auteur, seeing as he is a) incredibly talented; b) apparently generous and gracious; c) fine as hell and d) fresh out of the Bay. All those things — and more — are what make him so very special. In this episode we take a closer look at Mr Coogler's back catalogue and back story, how he interacts with the women in his casts and crews, and what that accent of his does to our [REDACTED]. Let's talk about the good, the bad, and the method of Jake Gyllenhaal. Jake, with his pretty cow eyes, that chameleon face of his, that breath control perfect for the stage... and elsewhere. Besides Tamagotchi, grunge, and Friends, what were the 90s actually good for? Glad you asked: superior Thirst Objects! We're taking a look back at the decade that helped advance our thirst development and shaped the core tenets of our thirst as we live it now. We start off with Morris Chestnut — V-shaped and lovely — before moving on to sexy spark plug of lust, Larenz Tate, and then rounding things out with triple threat Antonio Banderas. We also help a listener find a "thick zaddy" in Thirst Sommelier, and as for Fanfic Wars? Well. Stay hydrated.Do you need help figuring out your next crush? Drop us a line! If you're anything like us, and we think you are, you'll remember watching black-and-white movies and feeling *things* for the handsome leads without even understanding *why*. Well, we're here to help, using a quartet of stars from Hollywood's golden age: Paul Newman, Cary Grant, Gene Kelly, and Gregory Peck. Wit, charm, and grace for days! These golden baes paved the way for today's movie stars, but what about the stars who weren't so fair? The film industry still has a long way to go when it comes to inclusive representation — how is he "tall, dark and handsome" if he ain't actually dark?! — and in this episode, we'll address the respectability politics and stereotypes that kept men of color off the romantic radar in the early years of Hollywood. Grab your popcorn and fasten your seatbelts, thirst-buckets — Fanfic Wars is going to be a bumpy ride.Do you need help figuring out your next crush? Drop us a line! Michael B. Jordan is, objectively speaking, the hottest man in the world right now. Like, it's almost offensive? Come with us on this thirsty journey as analyze the evolution of his hotness. Is it his slow smile, the one that emerges like the sunrise cresting the horizon? Is it his big brown eyes, deep enough to swim in? Is it those incredibly cute dimples? Or is it a mix of all that PLUS his immense... _talent_? We talk MBJ's stellar TV years and his smooth transition to the big screen, his creatively rewarding collaborations with director Ryan Coogler, Creed (hello!), and Erik Killmonger (HELLO, AGAIN). We also have a couple of... rhythmic drabbles in Fanfic Wars, and a very tasty Thirst Sommelier.Do you need help figuring out your next crush? Drop us a line! When Tom Hiddleston’s Loki tells us to kneel, then, by God, we kneel! We can’t resist an evil British accent nor a man who knows how to cry. But what happens when a dreamboat drifts off course? In 2016 The Incident occurred, and Tom went from being a lovable slender snack to the ex we ignored on social media. Special guest Alanna Bennett, BuzzFeed TV and film writer, stops by the studio to help us figure our way back to Tom — that melodious voice, the puppy-dog earnestness, the smoldering passion of his characters. Sidenote: this week’s Fanfic Wars broke us both. Do you need help figuring out your next crush? Drop us a line! We’re back, thirst-buckets! And we're starting our new season off with a sultry bang – it's the internet's boyfriend, Oscar Isaac! Whether you know him as Llewyn Davis, Star Wars' Poe Dameron, or from a thumb-licking reaction gif (!), you can’t take your eyes off him, and neither can we. Join us as we discuss Oscar’s career trajectory, how he navigates Hollywood as a Latinx, how he manages to look great with curls, shaven-headed, bestubbled, clean-shaven or full-bearded (like, is he a wizard?), and of course, those eyebrows! As usual, we have a couple of drabbles featuring Oscar in Fanfic Wars, and they're...intimate. *eyes emoji* Hit play now!Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We've missed you during the hiatus, thirst-buckets! Thankfully we had OUR VERY FIRST LIVE SHOW before the withdrawal symptoms began to hit really hard. Recorded on Monday February 12th in New York, we discussed Black Panther, supervillain, um,... prowess, underrated romcoms, K-dramas, and even indulged in some public communal swooning. We had lovely guests – our old pal Krutika Mallikarjuna and new kid on the (thirst) block, E. Alex Jung – and we also had some adult goodies to give away thanks to our German-American pals at Fun Factory. We did something a little bit different with our drabbles in Fanfic Wars, and last but not least, we laughed a lot. So if you didn't make it, grab a glass of something chilled and settle in. AND STAY TUNED because we'll be back in March with regular episodes and so much thirsting *Cardi B. tongue*.Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

That's right, you little thirst buckets. Our season finale is all about Chris Evans — and guess what? We speak to him! We have a nice long chat with the man, the hero, the legend-in-a-smedium-tee, about what it feels like to be an Object of Thirst. Our new bestie for life also talks to us about his next role on Broadway, how long it takes to grow That Beard, and which pop culture icon was the model of masculinity for him as a youngster. This week, we are singing The Ballad Of Colin Farrell... too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral-BAE. Those soulful eyes! Those thick eyebrows! We're joined by writer and editor Kendra James, who shares her Colin expertise as we track his career from bad boy to family man. And yes, we do talk about That Sex Tape (and the evolution of privacy and celebrity since the lawless, heady days of 2005). Fanfic Wars sees Colin in the sunroom and in front of a mirror, and in this week's Thirst Sommelier, we help a listener fill that Adrien Brody-shaped vacuum in their lives. Our live show Thirst Aid Kit Live: The Quenchening is sold out, but you can still stream the show live on February 12th, 2018 on the Greene Space's website!Do you need help figuring out your next crush? Thirst evolves as we age and mature, and sometimes it's that maturity you... crave. This week, we swoon over some seasoned baes ("zaddies," if you will, though Bim wishes you wouldn't) — classics such as Laurence Fishburne, Bruce Willis, Jesse L. Martin, and more. We have a couple of guests: Twitter favorite @vinabean tells us about her love for Blair Underwood, and fairy pod-mom Tracy Clayton of Another Round stops by for a rousing discussion on smooth-skinned piece-of-hallelujah-sex bae, Don Cheadle. Have a spray bottle for Fanfic Wars, it's gets pretty hot in the studio...Come see us live! Thirst Aid Kit Live: The Quenchening is February 12th, 2018 at the Jerome L. Greene Space in NYC. Are you a book-lover, or like, a book... *lover*? What is it about literary characters that make us so damn thirsty? Special guest Mallory Ortberg (Dear Prudence, The Toast) joins us to talk about the first loves that made us stay up past our bedtimes, the ones we sneaked under the covers and explored every inch of — literary baes. How awful and perfect (for each other and for us!) were Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester? Why was Shug Avery so magnetic? Is revenge a dish best served cold or not eaten at all? We have an exciting Thirst Sommelier, but no drabbles this week, and that's because we have a supremely hilarious reading from Mallory, in which we are dragged, cleansed and blessed.Read Things I’ve Learned About Heterosexual Female Desire From Decades Of Reading by Mallory Ortberg, and listen to Bim & Nichole's episodes of Dear Prudence. Drake, Kofi Siriboe, Brad Pitt, Jamie Dornan...we’re looking at you, boos. This week in the broad church of TAK, we zero in on a very specific category: animated baes. That’s right: cartoon men, big cats, bears, and more. Gena-mour Barrett of BuzzFeed UK joins us for our most raucous conversation of the season so far, featuring thoughts on thicc tigers and foxy Robin Hood. Keep listening for a very special Thirst Sommelier where we update a childhood crush to someone more adult-sized. Having previously shown love to Nichole’s southern roots, we now skip across the pond to shine the spotlight on some of Bim’s British countrymen. We talk to writer Bridget Minamore about everything from roadmen to posh geeks, and ponder why Americans love a British accent. This week’s hottie rarely takes off his shirt but when he does, boy, does he. If you didn't know, John Cho can get it any time, any place, any how he wants it. Our fantasies starring John Cho encapsulate all manner of activities: going to the post office to get stamps, say, or making a hearty soup on a wintry November night. We bet you can have stimulating conversations with John Cho, about like, what the cancellation of Selfie meant for diversity onscreen, or the political fallout from the Paradise Papers. Let's have a debate in the marketplace of ideas (or wherever else you want), John!In this episode, we'll examine his career range — from guest spots on shows like How I Met Your Mother to starring as Sulu in Star Trek — and his strong, sexy hands (seen in Harold & Kumar, New Girl, Flashforward,...we could go on). Lust is a feeling. Thirst is the performance of that feeling. Thirst Aid Kit is a podcast about the public ways women express their desire, particularly in this moment when we are all asking more pointed questions about Hollywood, representation, and opportunities. Hosted by cultural critics Bim Adewunmi and Nichole Perkins, Thirst Aid Kit explores why we desire who we desire through conversation, original fanfic, and fantasies that take us by surprise...like a lion would a gazelle.
