Ali Danois Author of The Boys of Dunbar: A Story of Love, Hope, and Basketball/Baltimore Boys Documentary, Former Editor and Chief of The Shadow League
On today’s Episode we are continuing our deep dive into the book and documentary about the legendary high school basketball team The Dunbar Poets. Our guest today Alijandro Danois chronicled this team in his book The Boys of Dunbar and was in the documentary follow up Baltimore Boys. This corner of Hardwood History helps tell the story of basketball and basketball culture that we all enjoy today. It is also an American story and helps explain the difficulties of post industrial cities and the game that helped some boys escape these difficult circumstances. Let’s get into it.
Georgetown Hoyas Gear - You can walk the streets of Baltimore like the Dunbar legends or just look good in this gear.
Wake Forest Gear - Not quite Mugsy but he would be proud of these.
The Boys of Dunbar - Read or Listen to the book you won't be dissapointed
SLAM 5 Star - Ali wrote many of the columns in the magazine. The Mugsy story alone is worth purchase.
Baltimore Boys - The documentary covers some of the stories from the book but is more of an extension of the subject matter.
