It's so easy to get caught up in wanting something more or different.
More success.
More money.
A better relationship.
A better job.
It's natural.
It's how our human brains are wired.
Especially American human brains. But it's probably a global thing.
And there's nothing wrong with wanting more out of life.
After all, that's kinda what my business and podcast are all about.
The problem though is when the pursuit of something more or different causes you to discount where you are.
To devalue what you've achieved.
To diminish who you've become.
To discount the things you already have.
And this happens when you dismiss the things you have and see them as imperfect because you're focusing on the value or perfection of the new dream you're pursuing.
Wanting to be the best version of you, to see what you're capable of doing is a beautiful thing.
But the key is to do that from a place of fully appreciating and valuing and being grateful for what you already have.
To actually love the things you've achieved and acquired and possess while at the same time allowing yourself to passionately pursue something more.
When you love what you have while going after what you want next, it takes the desperation out of the pursuit.
The pursuit becomes about actualization.
The pursuit isn't about fixing something that's wrong or broken or less than it should be.
And it isn't about filling yourself up or making yourself happy by getting the new thing.
The pursuit of the new thing just becomes about seeing what's possible for yourself.
To see what you're capable of.
And doing that from a place where you're already happy and content with where you're at and what you already have.
Even if where you're at is less than perfect.
When we learn to appreciate *here* and the lessons we learned that got us here, we get to feel that sense of satisfaction and actualization right now.
Right where we are.
With all the things in our life we already have.
And that's beautiful way to live.
